I know it says that we should stoically accept the heart chakra
craziness and the accompanying buffetting of wild pressures, spins
and sensations, but twice now I've been hit by them at the height
of vibrations and the overall shock and strength of them have caused
me to lose my focus and clarity on what I'm hoping is the verge of
a conscious-exit OBE.

I always remind myself that it is normal and is not my heart doing it,
but it is always so distracting, the attempt always gets aborted.

Robert, if you're around, can you please help and verify that I'm
almost there?

#2
I know this is a probably a sensitive topic, and I hope that I can get Robert's take on it.  But while listening to the Andrea Yates verdict here in Houston on the radio, the area between my eyes and a
little up (betwen by eyebrows) was throbbing.  About 5 seconds before
the verdict was read by the judge I HEARD her say "guilty" in my
mind's ear.  It was very clear and distinct.  A few moments later,
I heard her say it "for real".  I was expecting a "not guilty"
verdict and these few moments were very shocking to me.

Is this a sign of the increased energy work and exercises I've been
doing every day?  It wasn't something I was trying to divine, it
just happened.  Can anyone help me understand this?

#3
As I was going through the steps last night:

1) deep relaxation
2) full-circuit energy raising
3) clear mind/trance
4) shaking loose
5) rope

As I got to step #5, I started to get that twitchy/fluttery feeling
in my heart chakra.  With me, it always happens just under the skin
in the center of my chest.

Anyway, at this point, it seemed that the ceiling over my bed (which
I was facing) began to come into focus and a feeling of expansiveness
swept over me.  I was very awake with my eyes closed and yet could
clearly see what was over me and had that strange feeling like I
had expanded alot and that my vision almost could see 360 degrees
around me.

Could someone help me understand this?

Thanks,
Roger

Here is a slight change to the trance-inducing falling exercises given in AD that has been working very well for me and I hope it can help someone else.

Before doing the falling technique (I use the elevator one as outlined in the book although I imagine it would work with any of them), I first do the "grove with the tree" movement.  First, I center all of the awareness in myself before imagining entering the silent, peaceful garden and visualize it all with as much reality (sights, smells, sounds, etc.) that I can manage.  This really helps me focus and maintain the MBA within myself as well as providing a
basis for the visualized tactile sensations that follow.  I then
progress under the low-branched tree and relax in the seat carved
into its bough.  This helps me to further enhance the deep state of
relaxation.

After sitting there and relaxing and focusing on my breathing, I get
up and proceed to the elevator just beyond the tree and travel down
the side of the mountain that holds the garden, observing the wall
of stone and dirt, sometimes internally chanting the suggested
"down, down, down... deep, deeper, deepest" mantra.  The strongly
focused self-centered awareness and relaxation make the falling
sensations greatly more acute and seem to speed the approach of the
trance state to a very large degree.

This could, I imagine, be modified to be stairsteps that go down into
the mountain or a ladder or rope that could be descended.

Please give this a try and let me know if it aids you as much.

Thanks,
Roger

Robert,

I was just wondering if you were planning on having any public appearances and/or clinics here in the states anytime.  If so, please sign me up.  ;)

I have been doing the "reality check" exercises several times a day, whenever I leave my desk at work or home or my bed.  What I've noticed is that it has a much stronger impact on my psyche if I travel first to an "unfamiliar" place before doing it.  Like driving down a back road or through a different neighborhood and doing it there.

Has anyone else tried this or noticed any difference?

Thanks

Hello.  Last night I experienced by first conscious OBE, complete with motion and "awakeness" and wanted to share it with people who would fully understand.  But maybe a little background first.
My only other previous OBE experience, triggered accidentally about 10 years ago was unconscious and somewhat frightening.  I had been laying down for a weekend afternoon nap (gotta love those), when I drifted off, only to suddenly realize that I was feeling "fuzzy" and that I was being lifted from the bed.  I heard alot of strange noises and voices around, got scared, and felt myself hurled back into my body.  I woke up.

Since then, I had discovered what this event was and had read several books on the subject.  But, sadly, most of them seemed more intent on introducing an esoteric tongue-twisting vocabulary than providing helpful instruction.

Then, recently on Art Bell's Coast-to-Coast, Robert Bruce made an appearance.  I ordered Astral Dynamics and read through it once immediately and then started reading it again for practice.  The book was written to be understood and used in a common sense, conversational way with great humor and depth.  That's what prompted me to come here and post this message thanking him.

After a week of nightly deep relaxation exercises (even great to do when you're not trying to project!) and energy center work, I entered the light trance state and began my favorite awareness exercise (the big bicycle wheel one, although sometimes I get vertigo from it) wherein I felt I was drifting off to sleep.  Perhaps another failed attempt.  :(  Then, a few minutes later, my body was feeling an indescribable intense feeling of...like...a combination of static electricity, high-speed vibration and a feeling that my PHYSICAL body was unreal and out-of-focus (that was highly unexpected).  Moments later I was ejected upwards towards the ceiling of my bedroom which I could see clealy, I "swished" (for lack of a better term) into my backyard where I hovered about 12 feet above the grass and looked around.  The feeling was simply astounding!  Then I rememebered Mr. Bruce's advice to keep it pretty short on the first few trips and noticed that there was a tugging at my back.  I reached out and found my body "behind me" (I could feel it as if it were part of me, but not with me, very very odd) and willed myself to be in it.  At which point there was a feeling that I was a bucket of warm water being dumped into my physical body.  Very pleasurable actually.  My eyes opened and there I was, back in my bed.  I still felt somewhat staticky and fuzzy so I consciously worked on "closing down" the energy centers a bit and it all calmed down.

Anyway, thanks, and any and all suggestions would be greatly welcome!  And thank you again, Mr. Bruce.

You're gonna love it.  Guess we won't hear from you for a few days, then, huh?  ;)

I did the raising of awareness to my third eye last night and rolled my eyes back so that they were looking towards it.  Every time I did, within a few seconds, there was an astounding sense of expansiveness almost like I was falling into it (out of it?) and the vibrations would begin.  This seems to be an excellent new beginning technique so far.  I had very strange dreams and half-sleep-induced images that night.

Sadly, my eyes would get tired quickly and I couldn't hold it very long.  Perhaps as we try it a little more, our eyes will become accustomed to it.

You might want to try the free courses from the Farsight Institute.  I think the URL is http://www.farsight.org, if that's not it, I apologize.    Supposedly, they have a fantastic RV record.  I downloaded them all, but haven't worked through them yet (no time), but if you're truly interested, give them a shot.

Well, I'm admittedly your typical hormonally-driven guy and, yep, there's a love interest, a sweet innocent and kind woman who he slowly convinces about the nature of his exploration.  The storyline needed at least one person that he successfully convinces in the long run to provide contrast to his mother and show an "optimal" route of showing the purity of OBE research.

Of course, Manfred and I are going to do the ultimate OBE story.  Take the subdued "person against conformity" angle of Chocolat'.  Take out Johnny Depp.  Move it to Georgia, about 10 years earlier. Make the lead a male instead of a female. Change...

Come to think of it.  Chocolat' probably wasn't a very good starting point of comparison.

And yes, we were kidding about the whole "better killers?" comment.  Just having a bit of fun at the expense of the language's symantic ambiguity.

You mean a better job at tracking and killing people?  [;P]

I would have to heartily agree.  If you will pardon the slightly risque reference...it would be akin to having an orgasm described to you versus experiencing it yourself.

An OBE is a highly-personal experience and what you see and do are as individual as your own desires and your own soul.

I tried the puppet technique last night and, although I think it has alot of great traits, I found that keeping a SINGLE point of focus, outside of the body much easier to maintain.  The rope technique focuses you in one area (the area where your hands are).  This is also done with the yo-yo and "bouncing cube" techniques.

The greatest for trance inducement and getting me "on the edge of an OBE" is are still the "wheel" and "rotation within the body" techniques.

#17
Yes, Daniel, it is also alot more personable than the treatise and is actually very fun to read.  The lack of obscure tongue-twisting verbage makes it easy to get ahold of and relate to.  I know you'll be very pleased.

#18
Well, since RB's books are the first I have seriously read on OBE, I think they're the greatest.  I especially like the lack of esoteric New Age/Eastern terminology.

#19
Hmm...it possibly was a spontaneous one.  I'm not really sure, although I had a similar, strange experience last night.  After laying down and relaxing (and checking some Art Bell on the headphones for a bit), I closed my eyes and started right in with breath awareness and fall techniques.  And within 2 minutes I felt a dramatic shift to my etheric (not projected double) body amid strong vibrations.  It has never happened to me that fast before!  I didn't manage a conscious effort off of it.

#20
As a side note, I'd say that "remote viewing" would have a better chance of locating someone stationary for extended periods.  I think SciTech has some fascinating testimonials and the Farsight Institute also has some very good free audio sessions, available for download online that teach these techniques.

Not only that, but you'll get to use the phrase "prama yama".  And you can't beat that.

Although I resent the implication that the rest of us are illogical and unscientific (my Masters is in Computer Science).  I can give you a very simply answer.  Real-time/astral projection does not make you omniscient.  It allows you to move your consciousness or point of view to both the real-time and astral realms but does not grant someone knowledge beyond their own ken.  Even if you could get a group of OBE experts (say a hundred of them) to manage to project to Afghanistan (or Pakistan, or...), good luck scouring the country for him.

You cannot simply think "take me to Bin Laden" and you'll end up there, far from it.  As one who has experienced an OBE first hand, I can tell you it is very very real and far different than imagination or self-delusion.  It has been done since the beginning of time in both sleep and conscious states.

You can also take into account the proven scientific facts of those studies where projection has been tried under university-controlled circumstances to discover hidden objects in another room.  It was a resounding success.

You may also consider the numerous NDE experiences (one of the most heightened and powerful forms of OBE) where patients with zero EEG activity, no blood in their bodies and frozen have managed to describe (and later have verified by their surgeons) the things spoken, occurances in nearby rooms that they have no reason to know about.

Art Bell recently interviewed such a woman, her name was Barbara if I remember correctly, who had all of the blood removed from her body, her heart stopped, no brain activity who managed such a thing.  She was clinically dead for 45 minutes as an aneurism-removal procedure was undertaken.  She was able to describe surgeons that entered after she was dead, what was said, what they looked like and dead and people that were outside of the room.

It makes me think about a sign that someone alleged to have been posted on the ceiling of the operating room, "If you can read this... you're dead."

Ah, the story of many, DJ.    Remember, it's not your heart that's pounding, it's your heart center becoming very active and providing the energy to build your projected double.  Sounds like you're doing great.  Don't let the fear overtake you.  The fear is just that - fear.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / OOBE Movie

It's coming along very very well.  Alot of intricate subplots and themes.  A very nice beginning and a very surprising ending as well.  The beginning is:

'By the sweat of our brows.'  I suppose that sums it up.  'By the sweat of our brows and the skin of our teeth.' is more often of the occasion.  I hold malice towards no one.  A passing stranger might opine that attitude understandable, even warranted, but I can no longer find it in me.

Who am I?  I was born in 1911 in the town of Miltown in the state of Georgia.  My birth, as if I remember it, was by all accounts difficult.  Not just for my mother, but for myself, my father and any neighbor within range of an anguished bellow.

I was named Paul.  My mother chose that name ostensibly because it was my father's middle name.  But it was a good biblical name as well.

[...and so forth]

The ending will have to remain what I think is a very fun shocker.

Or is it derived from "shazbot" of Mork and Mindy fame?  (showing my age)

There is also an interesting technique that I read about in another book (whose name escapes me at the moment) and that is to imagine a cube floating about your third eye.  Allow it to bounce close to your forehead, then back up far away, keeping perspective correct in your visualization.  After you start to feel the pressure, latch onto the cube as it makes its last bounce away from you and let it pull you out.  I've had some success with this.  Hope it helps.

p.s.  Is "shiznack" anything like "shiznit"?
