As an occasional pot smoker id say that pot does not help at all with OBE's. Ive tried it and it seems to help, seems like im getting closer, faster, but i never get there, i just fall asleep. In addition when I tried to visualize something, it would appear distorted, which to me suggests that i was lacking focus.

I used to smoke it quite a lot and its effects on short term memory are very noticeable. In agreement with what Nay said, i can never remember my dreams for at least a day afterwards. Memories of dreams and memories of AP's appear to be VERY similar, so it's likely that if you cant remember dreams, then neither will you remember any AP's.

I like the occasional smoke [;)] but for me it's a social thing, something to be done with friends. In any case, its not good practice to smoke pot every night in the hope of having an AP, you'll just end up a walking zombie.

Anyway, thats my input

Ive only had a few (seemingly) very short projections but i have noticed time distortion in dreams.

About a month ago my alaram woke me in the morning, i turned it off and fell asleep again (i can be really lazy sometimes [;)]). I had a dream about being out with friends and became lucid. After that i was walking around town for what seemed like hours, just taking a look around really. Woke up, id been asleep 10 minutes.

Hmmm.... interesting. As far as I can see, there are three probable causes for people saying these things:

1) As Leyla said, theyve tried AP and failed and are therefore  a)    envious or b) suspicious of people that can

2) They embrace conspiracy theories about "brainwashing" and "mind control" because it liberates them from self-responsibility. In other words if you are being controlled then your actions at the will of somebody else and just about anything can be justified (Im no psychologist but to me this seems likely)

3) They simply have too much time on their hands

When people ask "Does God exist?", what God are they referring to. In the Christian church, the image of God as the Father conjures up a picture of an old man with a beard sitting up in heaven taking note of humankinds every mistake. If thats how you define God then my opinion is no, he does not exist.

On a different level though, something has to be responsible for all of existence. Every religion, every philosophy (science included) tries to define one entity, one truth from which all else was created, and its existence is taken for granted even if we do not truly understand its nature. Thats what I define as God.

Of course, this is all just my opinion and open to criticism. No two people can have exactly the same views on something so undefineable.

Very interesting method. I can relate exactly to the sound you talk about, i find it can even be heard whilst wide awake - if you sit quietly and listen.

I read a document on AP a while ago where the author claimed that if you could concentrate exculsively on the sound for a few minutes it would lead to vibrations. Ive tried this several times and i get the vibrations, but no seperation, but i think this is due to fear more than anything else.

I will let you know how i get on with your triangle technique.

Thanks for sharing

Interesting idea, although to be honest id stay away from things like that. The brain still isnt understood very well in terms of electromagnetic activity and you could end up doing yourself some harm, especially if you try to bodge some device up yourself.

I recall reading something about a man who was investigating something like this. If i remember right it was part of research into artificial "eyes" for blind people and they were seeing if they could induce imagery in the brain by use of magnetic stimulation. The test subject reported seeing colourful abstract patterns (similar to those induced by psychadelics?), and also reported headaches and feelings of detachment for several days after the experiment. In the end it was discontinued due to "lack of meaningful results". Translation: It was considered too dangerous.

Theres probably been more research done into this since then, if anybody can find the time to look it up. If you do, let me know. While i wouldnt do it personally it is a very interesting subject.

Welcome to Dreams! / Deja-vu and related topics

Sometimes your subconscious can see connections that you normally wouldnt even consider, and therefore dreams can provide amazing insight if you can learn to interpret them correctly. Dreams have helped me understand and resolve a lot of personal issues.

In the 1850's Freidrich Kekule, the organic chemist struggled for a long time to determine the structure of benzene, only to see the answer in a dream (He saw the 6 atoms of benzene were not arranged in a straight chain, but a ring), so this is not just new age psycho babble

ps. sorry if im stating the obvious here

I found that the "Self Hypnosis 2" preset is quite good for relaxation. I usually use a background sound with it (I like the running water one). I don't think its much use for AP (At least not in my case) but it's very calming and seems to give me access to long forgotten memories. All the other presets either give me headaches or send me to sleep.

Well done. Ive only got the vibrations a few times and the only thing i can conclude is that "vibrations" is an inadequate description. With me it feels more like I become liquid and "flow" if you catch my meaning. Quite indescribable.

Good luck with futuer attempts

1) Only Salvia divinorum is psychoactive. It contains Salvinorin-A and lesser quantities of Salvinorin-B. These active ingredients are not found in other salvia species (Incidentally the sage in sage and onion is a salvia species).

2) You can grow salvia, but the seeds are hardly ever viable. In nature, the salvia 'tips over' and grows roots to reproduce. If you are interested in growing it, you will need a cutting. Also be aware it can take over a year to get a good crop.

3) Be very careful - If you really must use it make sure you have a trusted friend with you and that you are in a comfortable setting. I know somebody who bought some salvia because he wanted to see what a psychadelic was like - smoked it and completely freaked out in frount of his parents.

4) If your looking to OBE salvia isnt exactly reliable and your more likely to have an out of pocket experience (its about £10/3.5g here in the uk). You would be better off going about it the old fashioned way.

I highly suggest you go to www.erowid.org and look in the experiences section to see what other people have got from it - ditto any other drugs. Remember with things like mushrooms and morning glory that if it works for you, fine but if it doesnt your stuck with it for 4-6 hours which can be very unpleasant. Not meaning to scare you off, just saying you should be pretty damn careful.

That said, have fun

As Nick said, AP is not just about flying around, it is a profound spiritual experience and can completely change your outlook on life.

Ive been trying to learn to AP for about 6 months now and although ive only had a couple of experiences, learning about it and trying to comprehend its meaning has really changed how I look things. In reterospect I think I was trying to prove to myself it *wasnt* possible but now I really feel as if i can see the deeper meaning in life, read between the lines so to speak.

Could it be that some people have difficulty projecting because deep down they know it could completely change their outlook if they DO succeed? After all, many people are very resistant to change.

Your post intrigued me, as I had a similar experience myself a couple of days ago....

I dreamt I had been out with friends, and after walking home I laid down on my bed for a rest. Next thing I felt myself floating and I could see myself on the bed. Strange thing though, I saw myself as I had been in the dream i.e. laid on the bed fully clothed, not *in* bed like I actually was. I floated across the room and through the wall into the garden, and I dont remember a great deal after that. At the time I thought I was projecting and could move myself about just by thinking about it, but seeing myself on the bed like that made me doubt it when I woke up. Also, in this dream I felt really light, and the colours were really soft, a bit like pastel colours. Ive had a couple of conscious OBE's before, but I always felt quite "heavy", if you know what I mean.

If anybody has any thoughts on this, id be glad to hear from them.

Its been said many times (and by many different people) that there are many paths but only one destination. In other words it doesnt matter whether you are christian, buddhist, hindu etc, all that really matters is whether it feels right for you.

As far as AP goes, i dont think that the bible says, or even implies, that it is a bad thing. In fact there is numerous reference to people "being taken up to heaven". Is it not likely that this was a reference to astral projection? Many religions accept it, its just they have a different name or interpretation for it's meaning.

If you could give me some more specific info on what setup you are using (antenna, coax etc). I might be able to help.

Also try looking at Harrys Homebrew site (http://sm0vpo.8m.com). He has put a lot of good information on this site regarding amateur radio (including CB).
