I have had semi-lucid and prophetic dreams before, but never a true conscious real-time or astral projection. Last night, I finally accidentally broke my losing streak.

Coincidentally, the night before, I became lucid in the middle of a dream. However, the minute I became lucid it all got blasted away and I couldn't hold it at all.

At any rate, it happened like this. I took a nap after school, so at 1 when I finally went to sleep I wasn't too tired. I just sort of drifted off into a semi-conscious sleep. What I mean by that is, for instance, that I was still laying in my bed and all, but at one point I thought I was at school, while still being conscious of my body in bed. Anyway, at some point I guess my body decided it was time to go into deep sleep and my mind decided it wasn't. I suddenly became conscious of myself again, but not completely - I was still a little dazed and out of it. However, in my daze I could hear noises and feel my heart chakra suddenly start acting up. I thought "oh, so this is what they mean by vibrations ~_~" still only half aware. I did think to myself "oh.. what if I'm not ready.. should I go with it?" but I didn't hold the thought (as, again, I was sort of dazed). The next thing I knew, I was arching up.. sort of.. expanding through I think my heart chakra, and up towards my ceiling. In the dark, I could make out tiny senseless iridescent geometric shapes patterning my ceiling. I floated over and out my door in the dark and into the hallway. I noticed the bathroom light was on (whether it was, I'm not sure. It shouldn't have been.. which leads me to question the validity of the experience.. but curiously enough after I returned to my body I heard someone go to the bathroom). I then jump-floated down the stairs (still trying to get a handle on floating). I noticed every time I tried to think about what was happening I wound up losing my grasp on the projection and sort of blacking out. Anyway, I began to float out my door, and started losing the projection completely. I flashed back to the projection briefly as I was coasting down some road en route to a personal destination, but only for a moment and I was back in body, wondering if I had just dreamed something or it was really a projection. When I looked at the clock, it was only a half an hour after I had gone to bed.

And that's it. I'm glad I finally have something to go by and an experience to try to mimick in the future. Um.. hooray :|

http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/space/09/02/asteroid.reut/index.html

quote:
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A giant asteroid is heading for Earth and could hit in 2014, U.S. astronomers have warned British space monitors.

But for those fearing Armageddon, don't be alarmed -- the chances of a catastrophic collision are just one in 909,000.

Asteroid "2003 QQ47" will be closely monitored over the next two months. Its potential strike date is March 21, 2014, but astronomers say that any risk of impact is likely to decrease as further data is gathered.

On impact, it could have the effect of 20 million Hiroshima atomic bombs, a spokesman for the British government's Near Earth Object Information Centre told BBC radio.

1:909,000 is better than the chance of getting struck by lightning. March 21 2014, just a year and 3 months after the Mayan 2012 :|
It suits not the bill of the tales of Zetas and Annunaki to supposedly come, unless you consider the meteor a govt cover up for Nibiru or something :P
However, is this the destruction and passing over of the occultists to the higher cycle? We'll see..

Severe depression, schizophrenida, MPD, OCD, things like that. I'm curious what your opinions on those are from a metaphysical standpoint. Another issue where science appears to conflict with metaphysics, since science defines most of that as nerual blockages or sluggish impulses, whereas the occult definition may deal with negs, energetic imbalances, the like. In reality, it's easy to see how the two could be interrelated, such as neural blockages being caused by energetic faults (after all, the etheric body is heavily intertwined with the nerves and cellular biological processes), or bad energy causing the mind to react adversely. And that's just depression. Things like MPD and schizophrenia show even more obvious signs of metaphysical influence (voices, hallucinations, split personalities).

Anyway, to what do you attribute such issues based on your beliefs and/or experience?

I think I'll have to sacrifice a bit of personal information for the sake of interest [:D]

I've been in a long distance relationship on and off for some 3 odd years or so, and I'd say me and this person have formed an undeniably strong emotional bond. However, our relationship had been up in the air for the last several months, and in that time I've had what I would call some more than coincidental dreams which clearly tie into intense emotional events which were about to occur.

Personally I've been interested in astral projection and general metaphysics and occultism for about a year, though my progress has been depressingly minimal, with only myself to blame.

I guess the closest to a prophetic dream I've ever gotten would be this. One night, I dreamt (without warning or provocation) that I was trying to talk to this girl, and all she said to me was "I can't do this anymore, I need a real relationship." By that of course she was referring to our long distance relationship. Throughout the rest of the dream she just ignored me as I tried to talk to her. Of course, this led me to believe she was really some thought form or conjured up fear which was playing out. Lo an behold, a few days later I found out that she had been seeing someone else for about a month.

Not much later, I had another dream about her. This time, she was confessing to me that she had played innocent during the time we were together, while she had really been out sleeping around with other guys.
The next day I was told that she cheated on me back then (about a year ago), and coincidentally, that he had pressured her for sex several times (though apparently, she never accepted).
Oh dear :/

Of course after that we cut each other off for good, for good being about a month :P
One of those nights, I had a vague dream about her, where she wanted to be together again. Oh cruel dreams :O
However, after we started talking again, she confessed that she had regretted breaking up and wanted to get back together. :/ well

Since then, I've had two dreams with her that I can recall, however, in them the only emotion I managed to feel from her was apathy toward my presence. A possible sign of a thought form, yes, especially since in the one dream I was expecting to see her at a specific place, but I can never be too sure.

Long before any cheating or breaking up or not talking occurred, I did have one dream with her that was really wonderful...

So I wonder, when is a dream merely a dream, and when is it much more?

Oh em, the relationship probably seems pretty screwed up from that post, don't worry too much about the mechanics of it :/

But in situations like that, how would you guys decide whether what you've dreamt is true or if it's just an invention of your mind?

Cruel, thanks for those posts. I respect your viewpoints on these things as you're explaining from a deeper-than-face value meaning. That's a rare thing when it comes to Christianity.

That's a load of wishful rubbish. It's very factual that there is nothing too original about Islam, Christianity, or Judaism. Judaism formed out of a desert tribal God and was not monotheistic in the least until far later in it's history. It's concepts of heaven, hell, angels, satan, messianism, and judgement all come from integration of persian zoroastrian/chaldean beliefs during the exiles. These Zoroastrian beliefs later shape Christianity, which itself is heavily molded according to the paganistic fellow cults of it's time. Eventually, Islam tries to knot these beliefs into the final revelation of God, and in doing so wind up corrupting and anthropomorphising to perhaps the most extreme extent to date.

Yet, nor were the Aryan's original, with the integration of their gods with those of the Indus peoples. The fact, however, remains that the Eastern area of the world continued an undateable (indus valley art has been found depicting advanced yoga poses) tradition of inner spiritual seeking, which has bred philosophy, subjective religion, and spirituality. This while the Western religions relied on frenzied prophets, heavenly signs, and war.

No, TV is crap. What the world needs is for real, scientific proof of OBE and psychokenesis. Hone your abilities, and then find someone credible enough who is willing to do real experiments. That would be a truly great feat.

Something that ALWAYS bothered me. A belief system that allows for ultimate punishment or ultimate perfection to be based on a simple insignificant admittance of a deity, or forgiveness for mere words, without reguard to intent. Someone can at death suddenly say "Christ is my savior" and be forgiven instantaneously. No. No no no. Nonsense. That's one of the reason enlightened religion makes so much more sense. You must devote yourself and progress spiritually, with REAL intent, to achieve spiritual harmony. That is so much more right and sensible than any religion of mere words and symbols.

That was a joke :\

Someone said they did it without a problem and I guess the thread died after that.

Esoteric wisdom is esoteric by nature, it simply cannot be any other way. You can't express to a mass public the concepts that one must grasp to become adept in an esoteric tradition. Only through genuine truth seeking and contemplation (and it's purer state, meditation) can these truths be obtained. Thus, only the true-spirited can obtain it. It's a built-in padlock.

Of course, when you do express esoteric concepts to a population, you get exoteric ideas that become inherently corrupt and misunderstood. That may well be the source of all mass religion and religious corruption (anthropomorphism, inconsistancy, contradiction, nonsense, blind faith).

What is this crap? No major avatar is going to manifest for a long time, and when it does, it won't be materializing seiko watches. That right there should be enough to show you it's crap.
I'd be a bit dismayed at Robert's judgement if it's true that he respects this joke

Yea, I did read your post...  I didn't really feel like replying, but eh, I will now.

I saw that picture too...  Well, let me put it to you this way.  When an artist makes a painting or a sculpture, sometimes only the artist knows what the frik it is.  Any other person just finds it a waste of time.  Personally, I thought that the picture was just the sun behind some clouds and the rays protruding from the top of the cloud.  Everybody sees everything differently...

You don't always have to believe everything that's written on a website. [;)]

I'm not talking about one picture, it's every pic on the page. They're all lense flares.. like.. blatantly so. It's pretty comical to read though "OMfG ITS TEH{APLANETX INCOEMING WOW LOOK AT THAT SPLOTCH OF LIGHT"

Hello.

I was going to ask the same question Kakkarot.. and then it hit me. Maybe you can't define God. Maybe God is, by nature, undefinable. Infinite, and ineffable. Then the only way to begin to grasp the concept of God is by defining what it is not.

The spirit:matter duality was present way back in the vedantic times. Flesh=bad is as old as the idea that our 'reality' is Maya and we must realize and transcend Samsara to become truly enlightened beings.

Rob, thanks for the tip about working backwards through the memories. It works, and I've been able to dig back to around 2 or 3 in a regular thought/contemplation scenario (that is, I wasn't putting all my energy into meditating on the memories). I think it might take some intense meditation to get past there though.. not sure quite yet. I'm suddenly recalling a lot of memories from the 2-5 age range though. Granted, I'm only 17, but I'm hard pressed to clearly remember stuff from 7 years ago, much less 14.

Hey, good call on the part of the early Christians. I decided a long time ago that the greatest evil is ignorance.

Lux may very well be the first to fall from the great darkness, but only because he is light, and light must pierce the darkness in order to exist.
Reguardless, no knee bending will be done. Such a force is in no way anthropomorphic. And even so, it is still Maya. Further more, the correlation is drawn up between the 1/3rd of forces which refused to create or change and faced karmic punishment as fallen angels, devils, or satans. So while Lucifer in it's highest archetypal form may be the progenitor of all, him and his cast of crazy demonic characters, aren't.
Satan != God. It's the very opposite. Satan is the other side of God and neither God nor Satan are anything but divided shadows of the indivisible essence.
#23
Satan's got nothing to do with Brahman. Curiously, I think I remember Allanon posting the same quote..

Wisp, I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. Brahma(n) is awake now through manifested existance. When the Pralayic dusk settles on the universe, Shiva the Destroyer wipes out everything, and Brahma, the universe, goes into an all-pervading dormant slumber. Brahma's waking coincides with the Manvantaric dawn, the beginning of the next "day of Brahma" = Manvantara, or manifestation.

The word Islam means 'the way of peace'.

Robert, with all due respect, I am taking an Islamic Texts course for my Religious Studies degree and I assure you that the word Islam does not mean "way of peace".

the word Islam in fact means "submission".

Actually, you're both wrong and right. You've got to have a grip on semitic languages to understand that the same word can be taken in totally different contexts. The word SLM, from which Islam is derived, means "completion". In Hebrew, it's taken to be inner completion, or 'peace', "shalom". In Arabic, you could take it to mean submission, peace, or really any other derivitive with the root SLM.
