The other night, I found myself floating out of my body. I was paralyzed and I was totally aware, though I felt I had no control. I became very scared. I was floating towards the bedroom door, out to the hallway, when, I saw a shadow of a tall figure (perhaps a man). Once I saw it, I became extremely scared, because I was completely paralyzed, and moving towards it. I screamed "Spirits help me!!" It was the only thing I could seems to say. When I kept moving out the door to this shadow, I started screaming "Wake up, Wake Up" until I finally did.

I don't know if it was a dream or an OBE. I was very aware that I was awake. I was definitely floating in my room. I guess I am more mad that I ruined my experience because I was so afraid.

I don't quite understand myself. I want so badly to have great OBEs and to astrally travel, yet I am afraid of every shadow, everything that is not there, and the dark. It's like my mind is so creative, it is always creating fear out of nothing, or at least out of something that can't harm me.

Just thought I'd share this experience and see if anyone had any comments.
Thanks,

Hello,
I am totally new to this forum. This seems like a really cool site with lots of info, however, I feel totally lost.

My question is what is AP and projection? Also, is there a main page on this forum where I can find stuff for beginners?

Thanks!

Maybe if everytime we checked for our "dreamsigns" during the day, we immediately repeat a little mantra to ourselves, like "I am calm" or stay calm... So basically when I check a clock during the day, I would think "Am I dreaming?" but immediately after tell my mind to stay calm.  I think I'll try that...

I know I'm a little late to this topic, but I actually have bought the Neil Slade cd (which is the audio version of the book). He sends you a bunch of cds and talks ALOT. Basically, I don't think you need to buy the book. To try to click your amygdala forward (and I don't know if I have yet), he basically tells you to do a number of things...

*Meditate daily for at least 10 minutes, but remember to click your amygdala forward first by imagining two walnut shaped things on the right and left side of your head, not too far back in your skull (you can get a pic on his site)

*Exercise daily to increase release of endorphins.. Ok duh...

*Pretend you're a kid again and do fun things like flying a kite...

*Research and learn everything you can about the brain.

* Do a mind movie replay on bad past situations, where you (1) Replay a negative or emotionally disturbing scene from your life in your head. (2) Replay it again, but this time with a superhero of your choice or a big bad lawyer coming and killing the enemy or whatever is bugging you. (3) Replay it again, but this time with everything going the way it should have, a healthy positive outcome (4) PLay an ending parade-like scene in your head where everyone is so happy because you had a happy outcome. (5) reward yourself with icecream or something

I think that he has a lot of good and intersting ideas, but I'm frustrated that I can't seem to get in some euphoric state like he is by simply "clicking forward" or trying many of the techniques. He always has a bunch of email on his site from people who are so delighted with their results. I am not one of them.

The book might be better, since you can page through to whatever you want without having to constantly remember where you left off on the cd.

Cheers,

HI -

I am currently having the exact same problem. I usually realize my dream is a lucid dream by looking at a screwed up digital clock. Then I think, "Yes, I am dreaming!" I guess I get so excited I immediately wake up.

Sorry I'm no help.

Frère, I just wanted to tell you that I have often felt the way you do. It happens often when I'm alone, but sometimes when I'm with someone. Sometimes I'll be sitting minding my own business when out of the blue I get a chilly feeling and a sense of different energy being close by. I can never tell if it's my imagination or if I'm just being sensitive.

I'm guessing that 95% of it is my imagination and the rest should be nothing to be scared about. When I get really scared, I usually get my boyfriend to hang out with me if my affirmations of "I am safe," etc, do not work.

I guess what works for me the best is being close to another human being when I start feeling this way. I know that's a crutch, and I should learn to deal with the feeling on my own. I'm slowly getting there. You and I are at least at this forum, learning about the subject so we can understand it and feel courageous to explore this realm rather than fear the unknown.

Best of Luck,
Juventas

Thanks for the help, everyone.

Juventas is a Roman goddess, supposedly the roman goddess of youth. By all means, I'm not saying I'm a goddess, but it's a fun name. [:)]

I just found it by surfing the mythology sites.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I am stil surprised I found such a great forum for all of these topics. I am glad to know I am not the only one who deals with this sometimes overwhelming fear of the unknown. I think it may make me a bit braver to realize that many people have to deal with these different entities, and that it's going to be a normal process of astral travel.

My next step is to get that astral travel book by Robert Bruce.

Thanks again,
Juventas
