Did anyone else read this book when they where younger. I was laying down meditating tonight when I was reminded of this book. It changed my outlook when I was younger and I didn't completely realize it until just now. It's strange how much something so small as a children's book can change who one becomes...

Anyone else have any thoughts about books they read as a child that changed the way they looked at the supernatural or life in general?

This morning I woke up before my alarm and after relaxing my body I started having vibrations. After being calm and letting the vibrations just happen I tried to exit my body and was amazed at how smoothly I did so.

I started to leave my room through the wall but then decided to stop as I figured I might loose the OOBE if I did so. I floated around and demanded clarity a few times, which seemed to do something weird and unrequested as my vision changed in unexpected ways. I became somewhat worried that I would loose the experience soon so then I demanded to see my higher self.

I started to move, with my eyes closed at first, after a moment I opened them and found that I was moving from what seemed like planet-to-planet. There was a green gas planet with swirling clouds of green and white that was amazingly beautiful. It was so incredible that I was completely shocked by it.

After a moment I was moving again and then found myself in space looking at two Jupiter like planets. One was roughly ten times larger than the other. At the time I thought that they might be getting ready to collide. There was also a strange black disk next to the larger planet that seemed to be sucking in matter from it. The matter was swirling out from the planet around the disk to a point that was on the far side of the disk, away from the planet. That point was glowing with a white light. I figure it was some kind of massive object like a dwarf star.

I found myself moving again this time I was in a room with two figures dressed in black leather like clothing that where fighting with scimitar type weapons. They looked humanoid and had gray skin. I don't remember them having hair and their faces where not human like at all. There where not like the little gray aliens you hear about on TV either.  Their faces where not round but where more stretched out. Also in the center of the room was a sliver-floating disk. It had triangle points around it's outside which where in a swirling like pattern. It somewhat resembled a sun with swirling rays coming off it. One of the characters threw his sword at it and as it hit a large spray of blood was seen as if the other had killed him after he threw his weapon. I was watching the disk at that time and didn't see where the blood had come from but I recall it being red.

I then faded back into my own body as I normally do. I don't think I made it all the way up the line to what I asked for but it was incredible none-the-less. I did note that the last part had a somewhat dark feeling to it. I think I might have somewhat negative bits in me. This isn't surprising however. There were also flashes during all of this. I can't make them out as they where really brief and not clear. Maybe I visited other planets but left in too much a hurry to get a clear picture of what was going on. Also I recall that I changed direction in space a few times and the speed of movement must have been 1000 times the speed of light. There was very little sensation of movement however I could tell I was moving before opening my eyes at the beginning. Some of the planets like the Jupiter one couldn't support life, as we know it. I wonder if the planets themselves have life or conciseness? I also wonder if any of these things I saw were I in another place or time? I got the feeling that it was but I base that only on the fact that I asked to see my higher self.

I was having a debate with a friend about some philosophy type stuff and figured I'd clean it up alittle and post some of my idea's here.

It might be interesting to someone. Then again you might laugh at me and call me names. [^]

Perception is 9/10 of reality.

Everything in this world has a positive and negative aspect. All idea's and objects can be used for good or evil.

Good can arise from evil and evil from good. It's impossible to judge the finial sum force being that we are bond to time and space.

In reality however there isn't any such thing as good or evil... It's simply a human concept. One cannot judge the finial sum impact of any single action. Good deed's can lead to negative tomorrows and vice-versa.

A person tends to be inherently good but "people" tend to be inherently bad. Beware the group mind, as it's quick to action and light on rationalization.

Truth is simply the perception of fact, which is ALWAYS in error on some level. Tell one person the truth and have them tell ten others. When it comes back to you again you will learn that each person has reinterpreted your truth into their own.

The only being who holds real truth is god for god is the only force that has access to all knowledge.

People want to be lead and told what the truth is... This is a negative thing as people need to experience truth, or more so their perception of it. But a person must always remember that one person's truth is another person's lie. (This is why a holy war is a ludicrous concept)

"He who increases wisdom increases sorrow". Why then seek wisdom if ignorance is bliss? Because only by understanding can one seek to escape the shackles of physical existence.

He who increases sorrow increases wisdom. The more hardships in ones life the more one learns. Many a profit has went off into the desert seeking truth. Some find it, others die. (This isn't an endorsement for making your life miserable. It's one of those negative little things that seems to be true)

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Another month gone
August 31, 2003, 21:29:55
Welp, another month has gone by and nothing so terrible has happened. Remember back a few weeks ago when everyone was so worried about bad, terrible, evil things happening? Just goes to show you that being negative all the time doesn't get you squat. Let's all try and be positive this month for if the world comes to an end at least we will be happy up until the end...

[|)]This all coming from a very negative and unhappy guy...[|)]

Figure I'd post about the OOBE I had this morning. I've had several OOBE's in the past but they have all been extremely short and I've had a hard time seeing or doing much.

I normally lay down at night before bed and experiment/attempt OOBE's. Last night I was doing NEW which honestly isn't something I do very much, when I noticed that when I rapped energy around my feet at the same time in opposite directions my hearing instantly changed and was mostly just a high pitch wine. This is the same sound I get before experiencing vibrations. My consciousness also expanded at this point. Anyway I continued on with this for alittle while and finally got tired and decided I would try all this again some other time and went to sleep.

I woke up this morning to vibrations. I projected out of my body, went threw my second floor wall and floated down to the ground outside. It was pretty much my standard projection, hazy and somewhat unreal feeling. After about 30 second I found myself back in my physical body without seeing or doing much of anything.

I continued to lay still in my bed and the vibrations returned and I projected for a second time. This time I wasn't really sure if I was projecting or walking around my own house as everything looked real and my consciousness wasn't very good. Once again after 30 seconds or so I found myself back in my body.

Again after lying still for awhile I projected for a third time. This time I found myself outside and completely conscious. It's the first OOBE I've ever had that felt completely real just like I was walking around in my physical body. Just to make sure I wasn't physical I walked over to a tree and my hand went threw it. I walked around for a moment noting what was going on around me. Then decided that I would call for my guide. After doing so a black scruffy looking bird flew down form a tree and landed on a telephone wire, which hung a few feet away. I was somewhat uneasy as I've never asked for that before and wasn't too sure what to expect. It just looked at me and squeaked like birds normally do. I said hello to the bird not really knowing what else to do. It squeaked again and picked something outta it's wing. I got the impression it was alittle bug or something. I though to myself "great I'm talking to a bird" and started to walk again. The bird swooped down from the wire to where I was standing. Then it changed into a brown little rabbit and ran to a nearby tree. Then it changed again into a small red bird and perched on a limb. I was trying to make sense of all of this but I returned to my body before seeing anything else.

It was a very interesting experience!

Hi everybody,

Has anyone else here struggled with the inability to stop moving ones legs? I know it sounds pretty stupid, but I have a terrible time being still. It's really hard to meditate when you start tensing up because your legs aren't moving. I have such a hard time with my mind off loading it's tension into my body, always have. Ever since I was little and was forced to set in a school chair I've had this nervous leg movement thing going on and I'm sick of it!

I was just wondering if anyone else here might have such a problem...

Suffering,

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Why??

80% of people have never done it at all or at least don't remember doing it so don't feel bad about just getting out twice...

I don't know the anwser to your questions... Heck I'd like to know why I can't do it at will too but so far i've not figured out any easy anwsers.

My guide or guides have appeared as animals as well. Black bird and an owl.

They have never spoke in the normal fashion but they do communicate on another more subdue level. Next time you meet your guide perhaps you should stop trying to hear with your ears and pay more attention to the ideas and feelings that you are receiving. They might be communicating with you and you're just too busy to hear what they are saying.
#9
Well that is an interesting story.

As far as wither or not you should be trying to use that method I don't really think anyone can give you a simple yes or no answer. I'm sure that everyone has an opinion on such things but unless they have tried it and gone down that particular path to its end I don't think they would be qualified to give you a correct answer.

I would say that it's been my experience that when I have used destructive energy and visualization in my own life that while it has been very effective it also tends to be very harmful to ones own body and health.

As far as if you are going crazy goes. You might be... but then again what is sane? I think a lot of people would consider all of us to be insane. Does it really matter? I don't think so.

If you can function in this world and hold a job than you're sane enough.

Sanity is over rated anyway... boring and uneventful.

On a lighter note excluding the perennial Narnia and dare I say it Hobbits – I found Andrew Lang's books influential and Arthur Rackam's illustrations hauntingly ethereal and memorable!

heh, yeah i agree. it's funny i made this topic a very long time ago and was thinking that no one read anything as a child. Glad to know that a few people did...

O yeah, I remember that book. I remember the child in that book went to a land full of monsters but they where all friendly. Yeah I guess that was kinda relevant...

LMAO!!!Yes, I remember this book. In fact my mother brought it up one time during an argument, something along the lines of "I'd take you to the library when you were a little kid and instead of picking out sweet childrens stories you'd bring home morbid books about ghosts drowning children in a swamp!"

heh, yeah i guess it was kind of a morbid book but the ghost had a reason for drowning children which is what struck me as interesting as a kid. Most books or TV you see always portrays everything as so black and white, good vs evil...

Did you ever read the series about a gypsy girl named blossem whos mother was a psychic and solved crimes by communicating telepathically with a mans pickled head in a jar? And then Blossem started channeling spirits of the titanic victims? And got an invitation to see the Queen? And then she solved a haunting in somebodys attic, where there were pink lights were swirling around of a ghost girl who died before she could grow up?

Wow, no must have missed that one... sounds like something I would have liked though. :-)

Well that's pretty much exactly what I found. I didn't see a whole lot but I started feeling a sensation of pressure and heat and what I did see is kind of hard to relate.

It was pretty strange all around but demons and hell are not going to be in the ground they are going to be in the astral.

People who see demons when they go underground are probably expecting to see them and so do.

This theory disproves neither party: those who believe it to be hell, and the others who don't.  It is merely my take on the discussion.

What makes things even more confusing is the fact that people are not the same everywhere you go. Especially in maters of love. Around where I live there is a very unbalanced ratio of males to females and it's made for some very disturbing trends.

Women can be just as uncaring and unfaithful and do all the things you see men doing in popular media in relation to sex. Most of you would be completely shocked to hear women say the things I've heard them say let alone see all the insane behavior.

I can truly say that there are men and women who have no respect for anyone but themselves and treat their fellow people as toys to be broken and tossed aside.

And women can put their own special spin on it that makes it extra hurtful...

loool! Funny theory but a truly one i think.

This is the main point. Now, about the mental traits (pyysical ones are obvious:nice shape, nice but, some aesthetical muscles etc) ar that womens are looking for: self-confident, a decisive person, an intelligent guy, maybe a sensite and efeminate guy, sometimes(in order to protect the baby- Darwinistic point of view), an energetic and brave man, someone able to fight against many things capable to protect women and give then what they want.

Now here is the problem: it is almost impossible to have this same qualities, and why? Because some of then are opposite qualities: yhey wich a macho style but many times they prefer an efeminate guy. This have a natural (Darwinistic, whatever) explanation: womens wich to have an efeminate guy in order to protect/create the baby, but they wich too a macho guy because they have the best genes (DNA) to offer).

Well I'd agree with some of that logic. I think it's alittle more than just DNA that determines peoples actions. I think it has a lot to do with social forces as well. I think that most people (men and women) don't even understand what controls their own actions in relation to sex and love.

I know by talking to a great deal of women than indeed there is a lot of contradictory thinking. For example I've head "I want someone strong but willing to share his feelings" After seeing many failed relationships and hearing both sides I've translated this to mean I want someone who is strong and never tell me anything negative that they are feeling and will only tell me the good feelings.

This is really confusing to men because women leave out the fact that they hate men who are honest when they aren't feeling well or are hurt by something.

The bottom line is that most women rely on their feelings and emotions to the point of insanity and any rationalization of what they want in men is totally inaccurate.

Of coarse if you're an butt it's so easy to control and manipulate women because of this fact. I guess it all boils down to what you want. Sex or love. Most guys just want sex and for those few of us who want love we mostly live lonely lives.

When I was little I was afraid of mirrors. Now day's I find myself starring into them trying to figure our who I am.

Mirrors are almost magically devices if you think about it. They also have alot of occult history. Some people use them for scaring and some for seeing spirits and other supernatural stuff.

I read about a guy who built a room where he would sit in front of a mirror at about a 45-degree angle in front and above him. The room would be mostly dark except for a light coming from behind. He would stare at the mirror until visions of the future would appear.

I think the ancient Greeks also used mirrors in foretelling the future as well.

Mirror's evoke ancient and hidden things inside people or at least they do in me..

Fear isn't really a bad thing as long as it is kept in it's place.

Try spending some time with a mirror in a dark room. Sooner or later you will loose your fears. Ask some questions of it.. Who knows right?

If you find it hard then get a friend who you trust to come with. Or maybe a boy... wink

SORRY, THIS LETTER IS EXTREMELY LONG!!![B)] Ok, this probably won't help any but this is what I do.
I have a little meditation corner in the dark recesses of my closet where noone but me goes (thats why it's in the closet, noone goes there). It has a small indoor waterfountain (the kind you put on desks), a small table about a foot off the ground where plants, rocks, shells, & mirrors are arranged in a tranquil, calming way. There is a candle I sometimes light on the table, too. There is a mat to sit on, also. I also have a canary I bring in there with me to listen to its song. I pour all my negative energies into a rock before I enter it (sounds dumb, but I can actually feel, & see in my mind's eye, them draining from my body into the rock)so I can keep the space pure & free from all negativities. Then I just sit on the mat in front of the table & focus on the Lil' Sunshine's (that's my bird) song & on the sounds of the moving waters. Sometimes I also focus on a white light I see in my mind (now I KNOW I sound crazy!). I dunno, works for me. Keeps my mind from wandering & really after a minute I no longer hear the sounds, I am just...well, I am JUST. Sounds crazy, I know. Well, sorry, once again for the WORLD'S-LONGEST-STORY!

I'll reply but that doesn't mean I have any idea.

It's hard, I think you get better the more energy you put forward into it. I don't think anyone can really give you any help that you yourself can't find on your own.

But anyway I find that I can hold my mind clear longer if I listen for noises in the silence. Concentrate as had as you can on hearing as if you are trying to hear someone sneaking around your room. You're not really trying to hear anything but the act of listening distracts your mind from its meaningless babble

Asking women what they want in a man isn't going to get you anywhere I assure you.

Women tend to think they want one thing when they act on the total opposite.

The bottom line is woman have no idea what they really want just as men have no idea what they really want in a woman.

Anyone who thinks they know will find out sooner or later how wrong they are when they get it and find they don't like it.

This is a small part of an OOBE I had once.

"I floated up onto the sheds roof and asked to see my guide. A small bird flew down and told me to come with it. We floated down into the earth going down to the core. It was telling me that man would destroy everything by trying to tap the core of earth for power."

"I then woke up in my bed. Pretty long and strange. Got kinda scared when I was going down into the ground felt like I would be burned or crushed but it was controllable fear."

I didn't see any demons or monsters but if you expect to see them than you will.
