I'm not sure if someone has posted this before, because I remember seeing a thread title similar to this on a forum a while ago.

The title is sorta self explanatory. In everyday life I feel disconnected from my physical body. I could describe it as many things:

- As though my physical body is like chunky armor fitted over my etheric body.
- As though my etheric body was moving about freely within my physical body.
- As though I could fall out of my body any moment, or like I am just about to project minus vibrations.
- As though everything is a movie or film I am watching.

I believe it could be many things. It is similar to marijuana withdrawl, which is supposedly mild psychosis, but don't practicioners of Kundalini get these symptoms? I placed this topic here because I definitely belive it has something to do with my spiritual practice. Another possiblitiy I considered last night, is that my body is physiologically integrating my spiritual ideologies. As though I hjave these newfound perceptions, and my consciousness is physically altered.

Has anyone experienced this, and what are your thoughts or theories on it? Is it good, bad, etc? Thanks very much in advance!

Okay, I don't know where this thread should go, so I'm sticking it here! I think its the right place...

Okay, so if there's anyone who can see auras, maybe you could give me a hand. I think I've sorta been developing the ability to see auras, but I'm not sure if I really am, or if I'm just crazy [:P]...

Here's what happens: I'm not too good at it so I've got to 'try' to see them a bit. Most of the time I just try it while I'm riding the train. I just sort of stare at the area where the aura would be for a while, and then my eyes will relax and I will see a sort of glow/halo/haze of light around the person's head. Usually i lose my concentration and then it's gone. In a way, it almost seems as though everything darkens around the aura, but I'm pretty sure its not just my eyes. They don't go crossed or anything, just" relaxed" in a way.

Is this anything at all? Thanks!

I was wondering if someone could provide some insight into a thought that has been rolling around in my head for a bit...

I'm a young guy, but I've been practicing spiritually for quite a while now and its become a very realistic possibility to me that one day, in the next ten years or so I may well reach cosmic consciousness. But when I do, then what? (I guess the topic heading is pretty self-explanatory [:P])

I understand that in different spiritual systems, there exist many different levels that one can attain to. And I guess one might think that me having this thought isn't very spiritual of me but I think it's another step that once resolved, will take me a little higher. There's no doubt in my mind that I'd rather live the life I do now, as opposed to a non-spiritual one so my question isn't so much whether I should just give up.

I should probably read "After Ecstacy, The Laundry" but I'm checking here first [;)].

Thanks!

Hopefully this hasn't been covered before, but if it has, please forgive me, I'm new.

A couple questions:

First off, the other day while trying to project I was climbing rope for a while, felt the energy-rushing and the heartbeat. Finally it "climaxed" and I felt a highly-energized, non-physical feeling to my body, although I was still confined to my physical body. I felt separate, yet still "within". I suspect that perhaps the mind-shift occurred and I switched into my energy-body but was somehow stuck --maybe not enough energy development. Or perhaps I never projected at all, I have really no idea.

The other thing I experienced was maybe a kind of remote-viewing or something while doing loosening exercises. I was loosening and had placed a random playing card on a shelf above my head, so when I projected I could read it (you know). As I did the exercises I experienced an "immersion" in what I was imagining. I read this happens as the energy-body is being formed. I decided to go over and read the card and, as it ended up, I saw the correct card. However, I felt none of the projection sensations.

Does anyone know about any of these two things? Thanks!

whoa. sorry i never got back to explain the limbic system. not that i have a really good understanding or anything. it IS the brain, but i think the 'seat of consciousness' and where emotions are processed. plus my first reply pretty much covers whats happening.

thanks all

A possible answer, I just came across in a book:

"In neurological terms, such experiences (spiritual practice) represent a reorganizing of activity in the brain as a whole. The loss of ego boundary and the involvement of all senses suggests that the Reticular formation is being influenced so that the processes which normally convey a sense of being rooted in space-time are inhibited. The "floating" sesation often associated with astral projection suggests that the Limbic system is also acting in a unusual mode."

Look for Robert Monroe's guide to seeing auras on the Astral Pulse site. It should give you all the basics you need. I think its in the 'downloads' section or something.

In addition to my more "genuine" spiritual practice, I have spent a fair bit of time studying marijuana from the inside out, so to speak. There seems to be a lot of physiological studies (to test how safe it is, i suppose) but few psychological studies involving cannabis. Most of those use more powerful hallucinogens like LSD.

From experience I can say the "drug" path and spiritual path are two very different things. To keep things short, I'll say I do not believe it is possible to achieve any long-term spiritual/consciousness-elevation from the drug path. That might be obvious, or maybe not [:)] lol.

However, I have also found very intriguing connections between the marijuana experience and the kundalini experience, which is intersesting although inconclusive. I don't think the cannabis affects the user's true 'spirit' so much as creating a form of pseudo-enlightenment. Its focus is internal tho, introspective and psychological, as opposed to an external, phenomenological cessation-of-thought/knowledge of god. It provides knowledge of one's self which in itself is still valuable.

All in all, two different experiences.

Hey guys! Thanks for the replies!

Fallnangel, what you described as the etheric body sounds very similar to what I see. I've heard from a thousand different places that the aura is generally pretty big, but I see just a hazy white outline around the person. Yesterday I saw a little color surrounding my fingertips but it might have just been the background I was looking against.

As for the technique filipcza suggested, interestingly enough I too use notepad quite often as a background. I tried the technique and saw the haze quite easily and distinctly, but no "strings". Understand, though, I only tried it for about a minute [:P] but I'll definitely do it again!

Thanks!

I don't know if this has already been stated, cuz i haven't read all the replies [:D], but even better than a prayer is realizing and understanding that any burden you find in your life is equally something to enhance you spiritually. Yeah, sure, that's been said a million times, but once you have experienced it and have related it to your spiritual life it makes everything so much easier. Always remember, Love is your natural state. Occasionally you'll forget and be a slave to anger, or depression, whatever. But you always love people and life, no matter how much they've forgotten their "natural state"....

hey guys! thanks for all the awesome replies. sooooo much good info!

yeah, one of the things i've sorta realized is the way people fall into their autopilot mode, and i was thinking, "what if all the knowledge i've gained from my practice just turned into another type of autopilot?" Just more brainless reactions to turn to when i'm lazy. That's kinda scary if its true. I think that might be a spin on what you were saying James, about forgetting all I'd learned. So what about a permanent level? Or is that "real" transcendence, whereas the others are just baby steps? I think it's a very natural thing for the human brain/mind to turn any ideology into an automatic thing -- no matter how unattached it is (to put it in Buddhist terms)...

Anyway thanks again. And, for the record, there's no timeline lol.[:)]

quote:
Physical existance on earth one of these traps, and not even death can save you if you dont have enough energy.

Wow. That's an incredible concept. I've been working on spiritual enlightenment for a while and that is something that has never occurred to me, yet entirely makes sense. If it can happen in the astral realm, why not in the physical? Wow, thanks.

you're with a good woman [;)]

where did you hear this from?

Not me!

What's that all about?

that's weird because not too long ago I had a dream of being in a desert setting with guys with guns. military types and such, and there was an old-fashioned saloon packed with military crates.

and then in the alien-abduction book, "Into the Fringe", Karla Turner's husband recounted an extremely similar dream...

weird

holographic maybe, in that every part contains ever other part...

anyone ever read "The Holographic Universe?"

okay, I just read the section in Astral Dynamics about Remote-ey viewing. That answers my second question.
