The witching and jerking (otherwise known as kriyas) are indicative of kundalini -which also very often "turns off" parts of the body to do it's work, which will feel like numbness to the person.  The numbness and twitching suggest to me kundalini is active in you..  I let K work take precedence to projection, etc..

What do you mean let K work take precedence to projection? I should practice opening my chakras before I start projecting?

Just read through ALL these posts.

I'm not literate in computer/technical talk, but just to get the gist..

You're making a machine that makes it possible for people like me who have not been able to project.. to project?

If such a machine is possible, you'd make millions and make headlines.

Who WOULDN'T want a gadget like that?

I laid down earlier with my binaural beats to relax and possibly project.
The usual happened: I got really relaxed, my hands and feet went numb to the point I didn't know what position they were in, but what also happends is I'll get these strange sensations where I feel like I'm going in and out of my body, like my consciousness is spinning and it makes me a little dizzy. I thought maybe it was my astral body trying to project, but everytime I THINK I'm ok to project, my physical body twitches.
For instance if I try to move my astral fingers, my real fingers kind of twitch.
Am I doing something wrong? How do you move your astral body without waking up the physical body?

I've yet to project successfully, but I'm still practicing daily.

What I thought would be neat, or something current successful projectors could try it, would be if they could visit Area 51, the highly classified area which is highly looked at as the area that deals with aliens.

Wouldn't you want to find out what was really in Area 51? I would!

So once I'm in a light to medium trance I can try to start projecting?
If my body starts twitching or I start waking up should I just stop and wait a little longer?

I felt so refreshed after my dad snapped me out of it though, like my whole body re-energized in a different way then when I sleep.
Eh, I would have probably fell asleep if my dad hadn't woke me up anyway, my thoughts were getting more and more "dreamy" and I was sooo relaxed.

Got home from school and decided to rest, and try AP.
I put in my binaural beats I got online, those help me relax pretty quick.
After maybe 45 minutes, I felt like my body was really dozing off and I was starting to have lucid thoughts, but I didn't let myself start dreaming.
Most of my body was numb, and I had this really wierd feeling like all my body parts were sprawled in a different position than my physical body, but when I tried to move this "astral" body my real body started twitching, so I decided to rest some more and let my body fall asleep more.
I was really really relaxed at this point and knew sooner or later I wouldn't be able to feel any body part at all, but then I felt my entire left arm vibrating, I was like "what the hell is that!" but come to find out it was my dad shaking me awake.

Man that was the deepest trance I've ever been in, an hour's work for nothing :/

Does it sound like I'm doing everything right? Am I having normal feelings?
My biggest problem was trying to stop feeling my heart.

I'm a newb, but I have always been spiritually inclined. I've been saturating my mind with astral projection information for the past 4 days, and its the first thing I think about when I wake up. (The usual thoughts are "I fell asleep again, this is crap!")
I try to be patient, but I'm a 20 year old with a full plate of college and a baby due in a couple weeks.

What I'm wondering is why people say not to do it while you're tired. Isn't it easier to relax and trick your body into sleeping while you're tired? Wouldn't it be harder to relax and empty your mind while you're awake and you have a full day ahead of you?

The closest I ever got to projecting was right before bed, I put on my binaural beats as I usually do to get me to a Theta state where it was easy to relax and thoughts that feel like dreams come usually within less than an hour. I feel my hands and feet go numb first and it was like they weren't even mine, they were just there. I tried to move my astral hand and I could definatley feel some wierd sensations going on, like my hand was actually projecting!
This made me nervous and excited and I woke up  :x

I suppose I could try to wake up a couple hours earlier and give that technique a go, but is it really more helpful?
