I did it once on my side and it was okay but I wasn't feeling very centered. The most important thing is whatever makes you comfortable is the way you should go.

I agree with not depending on substances to AP; however, I have found it a whole lot easier for me to leave my physical body after using cannabis. If you're not into that, that's great. I'm just saying what helps me. I practice AP-ing while at my desk at work. I've been conscious and projected a little bit. It was very weak however. I could see how with practice it's possible.
#3
Yeah, it happens all the time but I can usually dismiss it.
#4
Well great. Happy exploring!

I understand and agree with what you are saying xanth about the focuses (foci?) not being actual distances from the physical. I think my wording wasn't the best. When I say I feel closer to the physical I meant my concentration is still partway thinking of my body.

The problem with wanting to do it so bad is that you will consciously be asking yourself "is this it?" all the time. That'll keep you connected to the physical and if you ever do get there, once you realize "yay, I'm doing it" you might get sucked back to your body. When I was first starting I just told myself "let's see what happens" and just totally relaxed. I also put myself in a curious mindset so as to just go with the flow. When things really did start happening I never knew I was 'there' until I drifted back into my body and by that point there was no doubt in my mind what had happened.

Whoever is interested in OBE's should take everybody's advice on 'how it's done' with a grain of salt (especially mine). Everybody will be a little different. I, for one, can not, under any circumstances, project from a lucid dream. Many people say that's the only way they can do it but not me. I also have weak results while trying to do it before going to sleep for the night. It is possible for me but it's not the best conditions for me. I started practicing (and still do) while taking a shower. Yes, standing in the shower is one of the best places for me. The water has to be the perfect temp but once it gets there, the feel and sound of the water (white noise) is great to focus in. Will this work for everybody? No. The point is you have to find your own way, so please try as many methods as you can. Hopefully, you'll find the one that works for you. You might have to try the same one a couple of times but don't give up. I also hardly ever hang out in focus 1/2 area. I can stay there if I consciously work at staying there but while I'm projecting it "feels" too close to the physical world for me so I focus on going deeper and farther away. The above all thing to remember is you need to be really relaxed, whatever way you can do it.

The only connection I had with him was I knew it was the person I was looking for when I met him. Do you think all of the 'us's' influence each other? I find myself interested in things from the time period of when Joe died. Could that maybe be his influence on my life?

That is really cool. The idea that I might be Joe C Brady kind of messes with how I perceive my "identity" a little bit but I'll have to look into what Frank was talking about. Does anybody have the link to that post? Or what should I search for, other than just Frank. Thanks

Yeah, I've actually had many things from the physical world disturb me while AP-ing. It usually causes me to lose a bit of focus but I tell myself 'that's just the physical world' and then I concentrate harder to get back into things. Most times it works unless the disturbance is just too annoying.

I'm still not sure what I believe about reincarnation but this has something to do with my OBE not too long back. I started getting feelings that I was, in a past life, a reincarnation of a guy that died in Vietnam. I had never really had feelings like this before and I decided to try to get some information. So on a really good OBE I decided I'd try to contact this 'person'. When I did I felt the presence of him and saw some representation of him (I believe beings sometimes project a form for us to be familiar with, like an avatar on a forum) minus any details in the face. Anyway, I 'told' him he should move on to the next level. He agreed, turned and started to walk away (and slightly upwards). I got a strong feeling he was just doing this to make me happy and not really going to move on for real. It didn't upset me, I just thought 'if you don't want to, you don't have to but it's a lot better up there'. He still half-heartedly agreed and continued walking. Next I thought 'hey, before you leave, what's your name?'. He told me Joe Brady. I laughed and thought 'funny, you're just giving me a generic name, that's fine you don't have to tell me.' He turned, I felt him smile, turn back, and continued walking away. It was almost like we were joking with each other. The last thing I thought was 'okay Joe Brady, whatever you say' and then he disappeared - not like a ghost fading, more like he just wasn't in my consciousness anymore.
So, like a day or two later I figured why not and googled Joe Brady. Turns out there were at least 2 Joe Brady's. For some reason (maybe cause he was the first I found, or cause we share the same last 2 initials) I was drawn to Joseph Clinton Brady, who died Dec. 13, 1965. While reading his info, the most interesting thing I found was he died at 33 years old; and currently I'm 33 years old.
This might be one giant coincidence, especially with the common name, but I like to think I really did make contact with this person. Here is the link to his info if anyone is interested:

Anybody else have similar things happen to them? I'd like to hear your stories.

I have heard warnings to get away a couple times and that's exactly what I did. I'm not messing with places I shouldn't be. As for the sound, I've never had that happen.
#13
It happens to me too. Fortunately we have different schedules sometimes so I have free time to myself to try then. I almost never can do it when I'm in bed with her.

I've only told my fiance about it and she is very supportive (even though she can't do it herself). She likes me to tell her what I see and asked that I tell her anything new that I've seen. I guess I'm lucky she is cool with it. As for everybody else, I don't tell anyone. Not that I wouldn't but I don't feel like I must tell them either.

Whenever I project I have a lot of questions about death. It seems to be the main focus when I project. While projecting, I've asked my guide why I keep getting these feelings of death, such as "am I being prepared to die soon?" and the feeling I get is "no" but it still worries me a little. I believe that what we see is more like when you see somebody through a shower door; translucent but you can make out enough. When you die, the translucence becomes a lot clearer.

Just wondering if a bunch of people ever tried meeting up at a certain "astral" place at a certain "earth" time. What were the results? And if it's never been done (or haven't done in a while) I'd love to attempt meeting anybody on here, over there. Anybody else interested?

Has anybody on here tried to do some sort of "meet up" on the astral plane? Say we all agree on a set time, 6pm eastern for example, and try to meet and then write about our experiences. If it would help, maybe we could also envision a 'place' to meet as well? Has anybody on this site tried that yet? I'd love to participate.

I've done it with music. Sometimes it keeps you slightly attached to the physical world. Other times you forget you're listening to anything so using music is a moot point after you've projected. If you'd like a suggestion for some music that I've used to project, try the band "Hammock" <--------(no quotation marks)

I have been having OBE's for a little while now and find them fascinating. The best advice I can give is to not think about it so hard. You have to let go. I've never heard the vegetarian thing before but in my OBE's, I've experienced things that made me want to be vegetarian and eat healthier. I have a whole technique to obe's and luckily for me I can do them very easily whenever I want (even driving, which I wouldn't suggest.) Some of the best advice I've read is in your everyday "awake" life, you should imagine your inner self moving out of your physical self. Such as, if you reach for a drink, imagine your inner hand getting there and grabbing it first or when you sit in a chair imagine you "fall" through the chair. This helped me a lot.

One other thing that helped me was to smoke a little cannabis. Now I don't want to get into a debate as to law or drug use (which I don't classify cannabis in), but if you are open to trying it, you can really relax a lot and it helps to get that feel of floating and disconnection from your body. And yes, I have obe's without using cannabis as well. But it is a little harder to do.

Good luck, I wish everybody can experience this because it will affect your life.
