I think, you have experienced the vibrational state of astral projection, do you believe so? I am not quite sure about this- but most of the time, I have the same experience. You could feel that, your conscious mind allows your subconscious mind to take over your dream, have you experienced the same thing?

Certainly, nickspry has an idea- I also haven't heard of metal springs that has something to do with astral project. If you want to experience how to reach the vibrational state of astral projection- try to learn how to rehearse the process of shifting between waking and sleeping and tell yourself that you are in control of your body and its processes. This is the best advice on doing it.

Do you think you are really conscious on those hours? Your story was terrifying experience, or horrifying I might say. I haven't encountered such incident but I suggest, you can ask a paranormal expert about it.
