Well, the reason I am posting these stories is to get a bit of feedback or just some of your thoughts on them.
A few months back, I astral projected into red and black mist- it is hard to explain, even though this 'mist' was clear and crisp, it still had this fuzzy look about it. Well, as I came into my projection- I looked around through this mist and after a second I had realized I felt locked in place, and realized I felt I was being carried. I remember feeling like something had me by my shoulders. I looked up and I infact was being carried by what looked like a gigantic bird, but this bird had a smokey shadowy look with large flapping smokey wings. I remember looking up and this 'bird' looking down at me, I dont know what it said to me, but when it spoke, it spoke with the sound of millions of voices in unison and sounded amplified and really scary. Right after that, the bird dropped me into a pit of some sort with gigantic solid-black beings. They were humongous, like the size of a 4 or 5 story building. There were about 5 or 6 of them I saw as I dropped down into the pit or arena. After that, I remember landing on the ground, then one of these gigantic beings took notice and charged towards me. At that moment, I thought to myself run or fly away, but I was unable to, and as it neared me, it spoke in the same way the shadow bird did- in thousands of voices in unison. Then this being that rushed at me swung one of it's arms and hit me on my right hip, I felt a strong sting- and the feeling of something blunt and solid just hit me. I was launched into tue air and far away and at this point, I slowly faded out of the projection and actually woke up. The fact that makes it so scary for me is the fact that- during this whole experience, I felt just as awake as I do now as I write this. I woke up with a weird feeling like completely convinced this just literally happened to me, and I was awake the whole time from the beginning of the projection until the awakening of my physical body.
The second projection happened not long after the one above. I projected one night, and unlike the projection above, I came out of my physical body- I just sort of floated out and into a vertical stance. I remember turning around and seeing a strong blur where my body was, but I turned back around and headed for my bedroom door- I planned on walking through, because I close my bedroom door at night. So I planned on walking through, and as I did, right on the other side of my door were 3 or 4 really jagged and dark-black figures with weird facial features-like a jagged beak sort of mouth and perfectly circular eyes. I immediately get scared and walk backwards through my bedroom door back into my room, these things are following me right back in, and for some reason, as I backed up, I knew exactly where my body lay on my bed and I laid back into my physical body, the whole time I'm face to face with these creatures. They begin to hover right above me as I'm in my laying-down-position and I start feeling them touch me, like on my torso, my ribs, arms, and legs(nothing sexual). This feeling of having my astral body being touched was VERY disturbing. As I was fading out of my astral projection, I could still feel this touching going on, and I literally woke up- and once again, like the above projection, I felt awake during this all- from the point I came into the projection to the point of physically waking up. Very scary experiences.
Any thoughts or advice? Oh, and I won't let these get in my way of having more projections. These are just two of my worst ones.

This is funny and ironic to me. As I am laying on my bed while listening To "Goodbye Milky Way" by Enigma on my iPhone, I made that same connection as you, so I opened up safari and googled "Enigma Astral Projection" and the first thing that popped up was this post on this site I had already registered too. Anyway I like Enigma, their music is well done. It has a spacey-vibe that makes you feel isolated- but in free sort of way, and it sounds spiritual.

After reading Franks phasing tehnique, I tried a search for something more in depth like what to look for. What you wrote is what I wanted to know. I will try this.
One more thing...by engulfed in the blackness, do you mean the 3d blackness?

Also thank you for that phasing information page. I actually just read that yesterday.
So I just lay there and create a scene with as much detail as possible while only focusing on that and nothing else?
Because if so, I tried that and I felt myself slipping away and snapping back to awareness.

Thank you soo much, CFTraveler!! I guess I just needed to be reassured. I just wanted to know if it sounded like Im on the right track. Ill take your advice and practice every few days, probably at 4p, it's the best time for me. Also, Im going to go through that technique section, thanks.

Hey everybody, I just registered a couple days ago, but I've often used this forum for searching for techniques and advice and just obsorbing as much info as possible. I've been trying to project for some weeks now and I wanted to see if I was going about it the right way.

I try around 4pm and at night before bed. 
I lie on my back facing the ceiling with my arms to the side and legs straight. I keep myself completely still and relaxed.  
I start with focusing on my breathing.
After About 10 min. I'll start using the pause-breathing technique(pause after exhale for 3 seconds every few minutes) which seems to make me get to the point of sleep faster,or where my mind starts wandering off on some thought, I didn't think of.

Some other tehniques i use are, focusing on the blackness in the eyelids, feeling the energy in my body and moving it around, visualizing myself climb up the rope, and picturing a friends house in full detail.. I alternate these things all in one sessions time, I'm not sure if that will help, or if focusing on just one might be better.

So what I feel after a while is,I think, partial paralysis-where it takes slightly more effort to move my limbs if I wanted to. A numbness over the body, sometimes it feels like certain body parts have that 'getting impaled with thousands of needles' feeling(this comes after a long while).  is this good? The blackness will have orbs of light in different colors and halos that seem to open up at the third eye and expand, as if getting closer to me.
I am able to spin around in what direction I want, i guess in my mind..(it feels like when you get the spins from
Drinking too much liquor, but without sensation of throwing up or the bad feeling)i also have that falling effect.
I thought this might have meant I was out, and have ruined this state by opening my eyes.
I have tried to pull myself out of my body, by feeling the energy lift up. It seems I tense up slightly when I do this which, I think, takes you back to square one. 

A friend had told me I might be overly focusing and that I might be too aware..I do feel aware during all of this. And also, it seems like right after my mind starts to wander through random thoughts and feeling like it's dozing off, I will snap back to consciousness and it will be hard to get it to doze off again. it's hard to explain this feeling. If you have any questions to help better understand what I am saying and asking,please ask!!!!  

So my questions are
1. Will focusing on just one technique be better than focusing on multiple?
2. Pricked by pins and needles feeling on limbs and body...is that a good sign?
3. if what I'm doing seems like the right way, what should I expect?
4. When you hear voices, is it something scary as if something is talking near you? I'm not sure but i think I heard something like news broadcasting type voices, but they didn't seem to be near me.  

I'd appreciate if Anyone can give me advice on techniques, let me know if I am even getting the right sensations...etc.
 I know this is not something you get good at in a day, but rather practice over time. That's why I'd like some guidance and assurance that I am doing something right or be told I'm going about it wrongly.
