The appearance of the astral body has two basic forms. Some people see it as a ghostly form of the actual person, as in the Landau case. In fact, in some cases, it appears in color and fully natural as in the Wilmot case. But the most frequent form is as a small orb which moves quickly. In this form it has been photographed and registered on electromagnetic detectors. When the person is in the OBE state, physiological functions such as EEG, the electrical activity of the brain, are greatly reduced. Whole body Kirlian photographic images support this conclusion, as we will see in Volume II. It is as though a portion of the electromagnetic structure and activity leaves the body and goes with the astral body.
The challenge for science is that there is no known form of energy which creates stable energetic spheres which can travel autonomously. The fact that this sphere also seems to be the seat of consciousness and awareness is a much greater challenge to science. As the Mitchell-Swann experiments show, during an OBE the subject behaves as if his "eyes" are located at the astral body, not the physical body. In the Osis-Tanous and Hubbard experiments, when the remote viewer reported being able to see the target, sensors at the target were set off, indicating an unexplained energy was present. The most reasonable conclusion is that the viewer's visual information was somehow coming from his externalized consciousness, his "astral" body, which was causing disturbances at the sensor.

     SOME SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS

     Some years ago, Dr. Duncan McDougall, of Haverhill Mass., conducted some unique experiments in which he weighed a number of patients dying from consumtion, at the moment of death. He placed the cot containing the patient on a delicately balanced scale---so that the patient (bed and all) was weighed. At the moment of death the beam of the balance went up and struck the upper arm suddenly. The weight thus lost was calculated and was found, in four out of six cases, to be between 2 and 2½ ounces.
    Although the experiments of Prof. L.V. Twining in detecting a loss of weight in small animals at death were given considerable publicity. Mr. Twining writes this author that he does not consider his discoveries of much importance even though they were made under proper conditions at the Los Angeles Polytechnic Institute. So we will omit his testimony. Whether a loss of weight at the very moment of death is indicative of some substance leaving the body, I leave the reader to conclude for himself.*

    In France, several prominent man of science, including Colonel Albert de Rochas, M. Charles Lancelin, M. Hector Durville, and others, claim to have extracted the astral body by hypnosis and mesmerism and to have performed many ingenious experiments with it.
    Colonel Rochas claimed that with this subject in deep trance, he could, by suggestion, cause the etheric body to exteriorize in a sort of plastic form and unite into a phantasmal shape outside the physical. The phantom, thus extracted, could be lengthened by the will of the operator, could pass trough material things, was the seat of sensation, etc. When the Colonel suggested that the phantom take on her own mother's form the suggestion was carried out.
    Durville, President of the Magnetic Society of France, in his book Le Fantôme des Vivants, deals with the subject in great length. His book is divided into two parts; part one being historical and explaining the general theory of the double. Part two sets fort his original experiments in which the astral body was apparently projected by mesmerism. For instance, Durville tells that the subject of the experiment is constantly en rapport with the double through the medium of the fluidic cord which is capable of elongation, the phantom is attired in a sort of gauze-like substance, sense impressions are conveyed across the cord, light is detrimental to success, etc.
    In one chapter Durville states how calcium sulphide screens were placed some distance from the subject and suggestion given that the phantom approach one of them. As a result that screen glowed up from the vital radiations emitted by the ghost when nearing it. Some other successes were reported by Durville such as moving the straw of a sthenometer by the exteriorized phantom. Some of this material is of absorbing interest and, according to Dr. Carrington, agrees remarkably with the descriptions and experiments set forth by the present writer elsewhere. Durville concludes his book as follows: "Projection of the astral body is a certain fact, capable of being demonstrated by means of direct experiment. This also demonstrates to us that living force is independent of matter, and that our individuality is composed of a physical body and an intelligent soul and a vital link---the astral body. Since this phantom can exist and function apart from the physical body, it may also exist after death. That is, immortality is a fact which is proved scientifically."
    The work of Charles Lancelin states that projection is the result of externalization of neuric (nervous) energy and that the phantom is composed of this force. This outflowing of neuricity takes place in everyone, but very pronouncedly in some individuals, and is capable of being measured by delicately constructed instruments. Space forbids going into Lancelin's discoveries, suffice it to say, they corroborate the findings of other researchers in the same line.
    Photographic evidence, that is photographing of the exteriorized phantom, is contained in the works of Rochas, Durville, Darget, Aksakof, Delanne, Ochorowicz and others. While this might, at first thought, seem preposterous, it is not unreasonable to suppose that the vital radiations of the energetic body can impress film, since the neural energy is akin to electricity and Professor Le Bon and colleagues have already shown that--- by purely physical means---it is possible to stabilize and photograph electric current. Prof Fukurai of the University of Tokio even brings forth strong evidence that thought---a form of energy---can be photographed, as does Dr. Baraduc.
    At the Hague, two Dutch scientists (physicists) ---Drs. Malta and Zaalberg van Zelat tried to ascertain the chemical and molecular structure---the composition---of the astral body. Their conclusions arrived at after prolonged experiment with such instruments as dinamistograph, etc., were:
    "The body is capable of contraction and expansion, under the action of the will—that is, the will of the astral body---the expansion being about 1.26mm. or about 1/40.000.000 of its own volume; its concentration being much greater---namely. About 8mm. or 1/6,250,000. Its specific weight is about 12.24 mgs. lighter than hydrogen. And 176.5 times lighter than air.
    "The will acts upon this body mechanically, causing it to expand (rise) or contract (descend) as the action takes place. It is thus subject to the law of gravity. There is an x force (unknown force) which holds the molecules of this body together. The atoms composing this body are extremely small, widely separated and heavy. The internal density of the body is about the same as that of the external air. If the pressure of the air outside of the body is increased, that inside the body will increase in exact proportion...The weight of this body was also calculated, and found by them to be about 69.5 gr. ---approximately 2¼ oz."  It should be noted that in the experiments of Dr. Duncan McDougall, the weight was estimated at about the same figure!
    Many other prominent persons have been working either directly other indirectly on the problem of the vital principle in man. M. Yourievich of the General Psychological Institute of Paris, and Dr. Sidney Alrutz. Of Uppsala University, Sweden, conducted experiments on the vital radiations from the human body, using all sorts of instruments. M. Yourievich proved beyond a doubt the existence of what he termed "Y-rays." These rays emanate from all men and women.
    Alrutz demonstrated with his apparatus that a curious force issued from the human hands which could pass through certain substances. Other tests have been made where photographic plates---wrapped in black paper to exclude light--- and held against the subject's forehead, have, when developed, shown an image concentrated upon.

    PERCEPIENTS WHO WITNESSED EXTERIORIZATION

    In the literature of spiritism there have been from time to time stories from persons claiming to have seen the astral body (of persons other than themselves) exteriorized, or in the process of exteriorization, especially at the time of death. It is obvious that the truth of such testimony rests entirely with the person claiming to have seen the vision and cannot be corroborated. Andrew Jackson Davis in his Harmonial Philosophy gives the following description of one case which he observed:
    "A human being lies....dying....The physical body grows negative and cold, in proportion as the elements of the spiritual body become warm and positive. The feet become cold first. The clairvoyant sees right over the head what may be called a magnetic halo.....golden in appearance and throbbing as though conscious.
   "Now the body is cold up to the knees and elbows. The legs are then cold up to the hips and the arms to the shoulders. The emanation is more expanded, though it has not risen higher in the room. The death-coldness steals over the breast and around on either side. The emanation has attained apposition near the ceiling. The person has ceased to breathe, the pulse is still.
    "The emanation is elongated and fashioned in the outline of the human body. It is connected with the brain. The head of the person throbs internally---a slow deep throb, not painful but like the beat of the sea. The thinking faculties are rational, while nearly every part of the person is death. The golden emanation is connected with the brain by a very fine life-thread.
    "On the body of the emanations there appears something white and shining, like the human head; next comes a faint outline of the face divine; the fair neck and beautiful shoulders manifest, and then in rapid succession all parts of the new body down to the feet---a bright shining image, somewhat smaller than the physical, but a perfect prototype in all its details.....The fine life-thread continues attached to the old brain. The next thing is the withdrawal of this electric principle. When the thread snaps the spiritual body is free....."
    In the June 1936 issue of Prediction Magazine an article, which appears to have been written with sincere honesty by Dr. Riblet Brisbane Hout, tells how, on three different occasions, he saw the projected astral bodies of patients undergoing operations. This occurred, he says, while he was attending surgical clinic in a large hospital in Chicago, he being one of the three observers watching the operations.

Engage a test subject as biological indicator (measure changes in his aura during the meeting with projecting entity) or measure ones aura by attempted induction of OBE.

Let them observe the whole process and let them ascertain- is the projecting entity leaving  physical body??? Inaccurate wordings may be very confusing. Maybe the right question concerning the Blankes patient was not "has she real OBE?" but "was the projecting entity leaving physical body at least for short time and stream of consciousness switching from brain to astral body at least partially?" Keeping in mind some details which Olaf Blanke dared not publish in Nature very probably YES!!!

Very laudatory intention. Direct electrical stimulation (of cortex) naturally is nonsense. Let us repeat how can you REALLY make a guinea pig from you self. Maybe the only possibility is a NEW DESIGN of transcranial magnetic stimulation device. Don't have illusions – you must create conditions more or less close to partial seizures (vibrations). Take a rotating supermagnet. The right and accurate tactics maybe consist in- reach first indubitable symptoms (the famous micropsia, macropsia, falling sensation, floating sensation, flying sensation or in some cases the above-mentioned vibrations, etc.) and hold on the device a few seconds with ensuing sufficiently persistent inhibition in TPJ. Find out the optimum focus. Don't naïve expect an automatically imposed "full blown" OBE even under protest.  Rather at one time or another THE GETTING AWAY (FROM PHYSICAL BODY) WILL BECOME SHOCKING EASY.

Don't have illusions- all successful OBE techniques, meditation techniques are connected with inhibition in certain part of cortex, see  Dr. James Austin  Zen and the Brain.

Note- this result has been replicated. Direct replication are some cases of Wilder Penfield. Halgren E, Walter RD, Cherlow DG had carried out thousands of stimulations, but they speak from "hallucinations of vivid scenes like weird dream", etc etc, simply no such terms as OBEs. Certain replication is work of Yu.N. Cherednichenko, also concerning angular gyrus. Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Institute of General Pathology and Human Ecology, Laboratory of clinical diagnostics and therapy. He had healthy test subjects!!!

Interestingly, such a trick- rapid and sufficient inhibition of TPJ gives temporary switching down of this horrible computer- computer guarantying metastable symbiosis (or reincarnational ontogenesis) of "subtle" bodies with phys. body. If seriously we must suppose a chain of events, not simply inhibition of TPJ, including certain changes in bio-energetics- not forget about the brain meridians, etc. Really a temporary switching down regardless what is happening further in TPJ. Not so few practical projectors wonder why some fully induced and excellent OBEs end abruptly after short time and absolutely contra will. Obviously, the abovementioned computer (astral hold) is more fundamental than brain; patient with permanent lesion in TPJ (lack of part) may think the doorknob is part of body, etc.etc, the angular gyrus is a complex part of the brain, responsible for things like body and space awareness, and logical sequencing, if something is awry there, a patient might put on his pants first, and then his underwear, and not understand that there's a problem, or the patient might feel like a hand or arm is not connected to the rest of the body, and he can't make it function, but we see not the slightest facilitation of OBEs. The same for ultra-rare cases of no-brainers (A number of writers have drawn attention to instances of mental activity being unaffected (or unaffected to the degree that would be expected) when brain damage or abnormality is present. Darling refers to the case of two hydranencephalic children described by John Lorber: the children had fluid where the cerebrums should have been located, but 'neither children showed any evidence of having a cerebral cortex, [but] the mental development of each appeared normal. Darling also remarks that the findings did not attract the attention which was appropriate in the circumstances, and suggests that this was probably due to the fact that 'it raised too many problems or was too far off the beaten track of conventional brain science'. Nonetheless, although the findings were neglected, further research encountered one individual who was deemed to be a 'gross hydranencephalic' and yet he possessed an IQ of 126 and graduated with a first class honours degree in mathematics. Gauld also cites Lorber's work (published tauntingly in an article entitled 'is your brain really necessary?'), J. Lorber, 'Is your brain really necessary? World Medicine, 3 (1980), pp.21-24. as an enigma for physicalism: with the victims of infantile hydrocephalus sometimes possessing as little as 5 per cent of the tissue that would be anticipated, 'many of them manage well despite this immense loss'. Alan Gauld, 'Cognitive psychology, entrapment, and the philosophy of mind', in The Case for Dualism, ed. by John R. Smythies and John Beloff, (Charlottesville, VA: University Press of Virginia, 1989), pp.187-253 (191-192).), not a facilitation of OBEs. One practically familiar with astral projection may feel this metastable symbiosis very directly. This symbiosis or hold is powerful, even very powerful; many practical projectors can feel this hold during half-induced OBEs┘even up to physical pain by attempting to go away (from body). But it is sufficient to somehow switch down the hold and getting away becomes shockingly easy.

                                                                                             The extreme unpopularity of substance dualism really is a problem. Most of today's philosophers are ardent materialists who do not believe in dualism at all since they believe that only the material world exists. Differently in the past when philosophers were less interested in word games and more interested in truth. See Olaf Blankes attempts to declare OBE for identical with multisensory illusions of the entire body related to a failure of integration of proprioceptive, tactile, and visual information of one's body (personal space). A little nightmare for reductionistic approach- overlapping from micropsia (failure...) with partial "astral senses", in certain conditions naturally.  For instance, the father of modern philosophy in the West, Descartes, was very suspicious of sensory experience. He made the argument that no one could trust such experience since the individual experiencer might at any given time be dreaming. Only the mind which analyzed and evaluated sensory experience by using "clear and distinct" ideas and categories could arrive at truth, and avoid the many illusions presented by the senses (both in dreams and in waking life).

                                                                                                                                                                                                 Confusion was related with Canadian neurosurgeon Wilder Penfield who also succeeded in eliciting an out of body experience using electrical stimulation, but he was stimulating a formally different area of the brain- right superior posterior temporal gyrus. Patient G.A. suffered habitual epileptic attacks that never evoked hallucinations. Yet upon electrical stimulation of her right superior temporal gyrus she spontaneously exclaimed: "I have a queer sensation as if I am not here. As though I were half here and half not

Localization, Charles C. Thomas Stimulation at a depth of 2 cm. along the superior surface of the temporal lobe, within the fissure of Sylvius, caused the patient to say suddenly, "That bitter-sweet taste on my tongue." He seemed confused and made tasting and swallowing movements. The stimulating current was shut off and the electro-corticogram showed that a slow wave 4 per second generalized rhythm had been set up as an after-discharge. While this was continuing the patient exclaimed: "Oh God! I am leaving my body." Dr. Karagulla, who was observing him, said he looked terrified at the time of the exclamation and made gestures as though he sought help. When the electrocorticogram had returned to normal the patient seemed to be himself again. Penfield W. The role of temporal cortex in certain psychical phenomena. J Ment Sci 1955; 101:451-65.

Nevertheless, this doesn't make any problems. Please, take a look at previous picture EEG during OBE. Certain inhibition covers right angular gyrus- superior posterior temporal gyrus. It doesn't make any problems to undergo stimulation exactly this area.

Compare- It exists an experimental method of inducing near death experiences, the high speed centrifuge used to study the effects of increased gravity on fighter pilots. They have "dreamlets" similar to near death experiences, at the point when blood flow theoretically is stopping in their temporal lobes, +G-induced ischemia (energy reduction) of the cephalic nervous system (Jim Whinnery, 1997). In such cases there is a marked drop or stop in blood flow to the brain temporarily. This reduced perfusion affects the border zone between the territories of two arteries. Arteries branch into more and smaller arteries and arterioles. At the peripheral end of an arterial "tree" the capillaries merge with those of the neighbouring artery in what is called the Watershed Area. When blood flow decreases, the area getting the worst of it is this watershed area. It is the area also suffering any neuronal loss (there is likely always some neuronal loss, varying with the severity of hypoxemia). Watershed areas are in the inferior medial temporal lobe (arteries are posterior cerebral and middle cerebral), sudden hypoxemia can precipitate temporal lobe like seizures. Other watershed areas are in the upper parasagittal areas of frontal lobe (rational, inhibitory, analytical), calcarine occipital lobe (visual), and cerebellar (balance, coordination (arteries are Superior Cerebellar, Anterior Inferior Cerebellar, and Posterior Inferior Cerebellar).

in turn produces a magnetic pulse of up to 2 Tesla. The pulse has a rise time of approximately 200 mks and a duration of 1 ms (panel 2) and due to its intensity and brevity changes at a rapid rate (panel 3).The changing magnetic field generates an electric field (panel 4) resulting in neural activity (panel 5). The net change in charge density in the cortex is zero (panel 6). In addition to single pulse stimulation some stimulators can deliver trains of pulses up to a rate of 50 Hz. Rapid rate stimulation can induce seizures so there is a trade-off between stimulus intensity and the rate of repetition. The exact area stimulated by the pulse and the depth of stimulation depend on several factors including coil shape and whether the pulse is monophasic or biphasic.                                                                                                       What means this for rotating supermagnet? Naturally, you will have substantially lower amplitude of induced electrical field and current (and biologically more favourable sine variable!), if also very longer current pulse duration. This don't rise any substantial questions. The insufficiently understood factor is biologically superhigh frequency as such. Naturally, extreme high frequencies may have biological effects as such, at 400 Hz it is reported strong prolongation of observed effects, at least hippocampus show long term potentiation, a 400 cycles per second electrical stimulation of only 1 second can lead to semipermanent changes in electrical activity and produce observable growth of dentritic spines within 10 minutes. The manufacturing of device makes absolutely any difficulties!!! Naturally, this is not a baby toy. In any way, guaranteed Obe induction does not relate with any kind of baby toys, this must be recognized. :scared3:
                                                                                                                                                                                                   Ordinary TMS devices may be basically ineffective in OBE context also because of limited impulses, but as we can se by electrical stimulation the point is continuous stimulation, what equals by so called "vibrations" the subjective rise of "vibrations frequency".    
It must be possible to find out optimum rotating magnetic field intensity and frequency relation for ROTATING SUPERMAGNET. Neodymium magnet may be 1- 1,5T, frequency 300-1000 Hz. Supermagnets sell allmagnetics.com, magnet.au.com, gaussboys.com, engconcepts.net, kjmagnetics.com. IMHO it is necessary to fasten magnet in some distance (exact distance may be specified experimentally) from motor- for guaranteed unimpeded motor function. Let make a simple motor axle elongation. Maxon DC brushless sensorless motor and speed control (maxon motor EC22, EC16, motor control 1Q-EC & power unit 8-35 VDC 3-5 A). (Also Medusa brushless, Multiplex Brushless



BL-480/4D  etc.). Fastening in some kind of hull IMHO is trivial. I think the needed magnet size is not bigger as 1X1in. We would find a positive and significant correlation between distance from the physical body during the OBE and a measure of thinking and mental clarity, and a similar positive relationship between the distance measure and a measure of control of movements. In addition, we also expected higher levels of thinking and mental clarity and control of movements at specific distances from the body (below and over eight feet from the body). Finally, we predicted a higher frequency of reports of shocks to the body at the end of the experience if the return to the body was sudden and rapid than when returns were slow and gradual. The hypothesis of a positive correlation between rate of control of movements during the OBE and distance from the physical body was confirmed. Similarly, the prediction of a positive relation between clear thinking/mental clarity (one variable) and distance was also confirmed. If the distances were limited to those less than five feet from the body and those over 15 feet from the body, which clearly include those below and above the eight feet range from the body emphasized by Muldoon for control, the difference was significant. The results for thinking and mental clarity and for shocks to the body were not significant.

Millions of people every year undergo general anesthesia for surgery with complete and reversible loss of consciousness. At a critical concentration of anesthetic drug, consciousness is erased while many nonconscious functions of brain and other organs continue (e.g. EEG, evoked potentials, control of breathing). How does this happen?  
The situation seems confusing, with many different types of drugs acting on many different types of proteins in the brain (e.g. receptors for various excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters, channels, enzymes, connexin in gap junctions (Masaki et al 2004, He & Burt 2000), actin, tubulin in microtubules). Purely inhalational anesthetic gases which travel through the lungs and blood to the brain constitute a variety of types of molecules: halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, the inert element xenon, nitrous oxide etc. However there is one important unifying feature.
All anesthetic gas molecules are non-polar, and thus poorly soluble in water/blood, but highly soluble in a particular lipid-like, hydrophobic environment akin to olive oil. The potency of anesthetic gases in erasing consciousness correlates perfectly with solubility in such an environment. The brain has a large lipid-like (olive oil-like) domain, both in lipid regions of neural membranes and hydrophobic pockets within certain proteins. Anesthetics were originally thought to act in lipid regions of membranes, but protein hydrophobic pockets were determined to be their primary sites of action (Franks and Lieb 1982). Anesthetic gases bind to non-polar amino acid groups in the pockets (e.g. the benzene-like ring in phenylalanine, and the indole ring in tryptophan) by van der Waals London forces, the same quantum forces which form the pockets and govern conformational dynamics.
Why do weak quantum forces have such profound and selective effects? Anesthetic gas molecules form their own London force interactions with non-polar amino acid groups, preventing or altering normally occurring London forces necessary for protein conformational dynamics and consciousness. Anesthetic gases prevent quantum leverage.
Most protein conformational changes are unaffected by general anesthetics-muscle contractility, enzyme function and most brain activities (as evidenced by EEG and evoked potentials) continue during anesthesia. Axonal action potentials are also relatively unaffected by general anesthetics. Proteins which are affected include post-synaptic receptors (acetylcholine, serotonin, GABA and glycine), tubulin (Allison and Nunn 1968) and actin, which disassembles in dendritic spines when exposed to anesthetics (Kaech et al 1999).
Anesthetics act (and consciousness occurs) not in any one brain region, or in any one type of neuron or particular protein. Rather, anesthesia and consciousness occur in hydrophobic pockets of a class of proteins in dendrites throughout the brain (Hameroff 1998c). In these pockets, quantum London forces govern protein function responsible for consciousness. Does that imply that consciousness is related with subtle energies?

Mind, matter, thought, and the deepest biological control functions also use the Whittaker internal electromagnetics, and always have done so.  Now we know where the human bodymind software is, how it is filed, and how to engineer it directly.  What is involved is not only a unification of the branches of physics, but also a unification of physics and metaphysics. Living systems have long used the internal EM Whittaker channel for deep cellular control of the organism.  By manipulating this channel, researchers have shown EM induction of cellular death and disease, and absolute cures of terminal tumors and leukemias in lab animals.  Popp also discovered the master cellular control system, including its virtual photon storage characteristics, without knowing of the internal Whittaker storage channel and mechanism. The scalar EM potential is an organized space-time lattice of perfectly ordered EM energy [Fuller's Isotropic Vector Matrix], passing through it in a Whittaker wave structure.  Living systems alter this internal EM Whittaker channel (this space-time lattice structure) and communicate through it for mind, thought, personality, long-term memory, and deep control of cellular and body functions.  All the deepest biological control systems are in the Whittaker channel. Scalar interferometry of Whittaker potentials alone, e.g., can reproduce any kind of normal EM, and the potentials can pass deep into the body before that interference occurs.  So Whittaker potential interferometry can produce much deeper EM fields in the body than present field theory and dosimetry would indicate.  The Whittaker potentials interact in the nuclear mass potential of the body--and that is where the signals and functions for deep cellular control, immune system control, etc. are located. The mind consists of stabilized Whittaker structures inside the living system's bio-potential.  Thoughts are a special class of changes/waves in that overall Whittaker-structure ensemble.  The personal unconscious is a single, small, localized sample of yet a greater collection that represents even deeper unconsciousness.  That is why the unconscious is unconscious, just as the vacuum potential is non-observable. The conscious mind is a serial processor, one thing at a time.  The unconscious mind is a parallel processor, of infinite potential.  The multiplicity of the unconscious makes it appear as blackness, or nothing recognizable at all. Jung's collective unconscious consists of archetypal infolded EM structures acting in common in an overall bio-quantum-potential for the entire species.  The Spirit of the living system, an undivided whole, an Unbound Self, is everywhere in the universe, and every when as well.  It's all a giant hologram, not only in space, but in space-time. A thought or thoughtform is just a specific, dynamic Whittaker structure in the hidden EM channels of the biopotential.  Thoughts and thoughtforms are real.  They are virtual spatially, but occupy the real dimension of time.  Physics and metaphysics share this nonobservable dimension time.  You can build the whole observable, detectable physics model out of the nonobservable, nondetectable vacuum.  With Whittaker EM engineering, you can conceivably "make" thoughtforms to order, and input them directly into the mind and long-term memory and personality. Vector fields can evidently be assembled by properly interfering scalar potentials.  Conversely, scalar field can be created by destructively interfering vector field, in a nonlinear medium.  Varying the vector components rhythmically produces what Bearden calls "scalar waves".  These ripples in space-time are believed to induce a wavelike stress in the "aether" and this in turn leads to engineering the structure of pure space and/or mass in a localized area--in other words, implementing General Relativity (space-time curvature) on the lab bench.
The implications are staggering.  Among other things it means direct engineering of quantum change via a new kind of "hidden electrodynamics variables," the direct engineering of the vacuum's virtual photon flux exchange with matter; action at a distance; direct engineering of the local curvature of space-time; and using the hidden EM to engineer body cells including the reversal of diseased cells, genetics and all, back to a previous healthy state; research toward the direct engineering of the mind, including both the conscious and unconscious minds, long-term memory, and the personality itself. There is a predominance of non-linear processes in biological systems.  Several types of quasi-particles, each with their own characteristic resonant frequencies have been proposed to mediate these non-linear phenomenon, including solitons, excitons, and plasmons.  The right frequencies of non-linear energies might have profound healing properties, according to Stanford researcher Dr. Glen Rein.  Due to the non-linear nature of biological systems it is proposed that scalar waves should be more biologically active than their linear electromagnetic counterparts. Scalar energy is transduced into linear electromagnetic energy in the body by liquid crystals in the cell membrane and solid crystals found in the blood and in several biological tissues.  Clinical studies of the effects of scalar energy on the mindbody and brainwaves have been conducted since the 1980s.  If they can be believed, research from Stanford University Medical Center produced some tantalizing results. Electrochemical oscillation between membrane-bound lipids near phase-transition temperature have been analyzed with and described by nonlinear quantum mechanical equations.  They also analyzed the coupling between harmonic oscillators represented by action potentials generated from active neuronal networks in the central nervous system, finding evidence of chaos.  The extraction of scalar components from Maxwell's original electromagnetic equations and from Schrodinger's equation using imaginary numbers has been reported, and their unusual non-linear waves described by many experimenters. A Crystalline Transduction Theory has been put forth to explain the interactive mechanism of scalar waves with biological systems.  Another possibility is transduction in microtubules dispersed throughout the whole organism.  Tissue culture studies imply that the action of scalars on biological systems is more than a placebo effect mediated by the brain/mind, such as stress, moods or beliefs.   Stray EM energy in the ambient atmosphere makes it difficult to study the healing properties of scalar energies in a clinical setting. Clinical healing sometime occurred several months after initial exposure to the scalar waves.  It is known that the brain and body, each the immune system, communicate bidirectionally.  Thus, a direct action of scalar energy on the body could cause a subsequent change in brain state.  Therefore EEG studies do not indicate whether scalar energy also affects the body directly or whether the brain and the body are both affected.  Even if scalar energy directly affects individual cells, it may also affect the mind resulting in an altered psychological outlook which results in clinical improvement. Dr. Michael Persinger was the first person to test the effects of scalar energy using isolated cells.  The scalar waves were generated by partially cancelling two vortex-type magnetic fields (0.SHz, 10pT) by intersecting them in the air.  The biological endpoint, degranulation of mast cells, was increased by the scalar fields.  Dr. Puharich, in another study, grew tissue samples of E. Coli, and detected an increased activity of ubiquitone, a protein involved in DNA repair.  These results indicate that scalar energy can have a direct effect at the subcellular level as well as a direct effect on the immune system. Another project detected an effect of scalar energy on neurotransmitter function, which mimicked the effect of antidepressant medication.  Scalars appear to modulate the basic biochemical communication between nerve cells mediated by neurotransmitters.  Cultured nerve cells called PC 12 cells were isolated from rats, and the functional properties of noradrenalin release from PC 12 cells was shown to be increased by a 500Hz monopolar square wave, and noradrenalin uptake was inhibited by a 15Hz bipolar square wave, (Rein). Noradrenalin uptake was chosen because it is directly mediated by the plasma membrane via an intramembrane protein carrier.  The plasma membrane, with its liquid-crystal structure, is the critical cellular barrier which interfaces with the chemical and electromagnetic environment.  Since other intramembrane proteins show non-linear properties, the plasma membrane is a likely target for scalar energy. The physiological function of carrier mediated neurotransmitter uptake is to remove excess neurotransmitter from the synaptic cleft after its release from presynaptic nerves.  Thus, inhibiting uptake results in the accumulation of the neurotransmitter in the synaptic cleft.  This is the mechanism of action of tricyclic antidepressants, since they inhibit noradrenalin uptake. Depression is associated with decreased noradrenalin levels.  Rein exposed confluent monolayer culture of PC12 cells to noradrenalin in the presence or absence of scalar energy.  After 30 minutes, the cells were washed and centrifuged and noradrenalin uptake measured.  Overall, uptake was inhibited by 19.5% in the presence of the scalar field as compared with the control value obtained in its absence.  This is a significant statistical difference of p 0.01. Researchers think a wide variety of physiological changes could be created resulting in improvement of a variety of clinical diseases, only one of which could be depression.  Scalar energy can have a direct effect on the cell membrane.  Researchers want to test whether diseased cells are preferentially sensitive to scalar energy; and what characterizes its mechanisms of action. The brain halves could constitute natural scalar interferometers; the cortex, the acupuncture system, the 'chakras' would be coupling elements. :eyecrazy:


We should note here that the spin polarization of an atom is not necessarily fixed in either a right-handed or left-handed direction. The Institute of Material Research in Kiev, Ukraine performed a series of experiments where an object was exposed to torsion radiation. They found that if the torsion radiation was strong enough, then the spin state of the atoms themselves could be changed. These changes can eventually be substantial enough to alter the structure and appearance of a material, such as the color of granite and the sharpness of a razor blade.

Even more interestingly, the Institute of Material Research also determined that people with strong psychic abilities were also capable of creating identical changes in the spin polarization of various substances by the sheer focus of their consciousness. No other known technologies could create such changes in a physical object. This again suggests that consciousness and torsion-waves are actually related. .

                                                                                              The concept known as dualism is attributed to the seventeenth-century French physician/mathematician/philosopher Rene Descartes (1596-1650), who probably is most famous for his well-known dictum, "I think, therefore I am." Interestingly, however, the idea for dualism did not originate with Descartes (although he is the one who generally receives credit for it). Some twelve hundred years earlier, Augustine, in his City of God had written:
Without any delusive representation of images and phantasms, I am most certain that I am, and that I know and delight in this. In respect of these truths, I am not afraid of the arguments of the Academicians, who say, "What if you are deceived?" For if I am deceived, I am. For he who is not, cannot be deceived; and if I am deceived, by this same token I am.
In the end, however, it was Descartes who "resolved to take myself as an object of study and to employ all the powers of my mind in choosing the paths I should follow". The paths Descartes chose eventually designated him as the father of the mind/body theory of interactionism. In his 1642 book, Discourse on Method and the Meditations, Descartes suggested that the mind was every bit as real as matter, yet was entirely separate from matter-and therefore from the brain as well. In Descartes' language, the mind was res cogitans (thinking substances), as opposed to the brain, which was res extensa (material or physical substances). Descartes even thought he had located the actual "seat" of consciousness in the brain. Arne Wyller summarized Descartes' views as follows:
Descartes...believed that mind states and physical states are mutually interactive. Thus arose the Cartesian mind-body dualism that still influences modern scientific thinking in this field.
It is something of an understatement to suggest that dualism "still influences modern scientific thinking in this field." In his classic 1949 book, The Concept of Mind, British philosopher Gilbert Ryle referred to dualism as "the official doctrine". In commenting on that phrase, Australian physicist and mathematician Paul Davies asked in his book, God and the New Physics:
What are the features of the dualistic theory of the mind? The "official doctrine" goes something like this. The human being consists of two distinct, separate kinds of things: the body and the soul, or mind. The body acts as a sort of host or receptacle for the mind, or perhaps even as a prison from which liberation may be sought through spiritual advancement or death.... However, the mind (or soul) is not located inside the brain, or any other part of the body; or indeed anywhere in space at all.... An important feature of this picture is that the mind is a thing; perhaps even more specifically, a substance. Not a physical substance, but a tenuous, elusive, aetherial sort of substance (see Torsion Fields).
James Trefil summed it up like this:
One way of looking at this question is to imagine that somewhere in the brain is an "I" who is watching the final products of the processing of signals by neurons. The essence of this view is that there is something in "mind" that transcends (or at least is distinct from) the workings of the physical brain. The seventeenth-century French philosopher and mathematician Rene Descartes advocated such a view of mind/body dualism, so the hypothetical place where mental images are viewed is often referred to as the "Cartesian Theater".
The fascinating book, Nobel Prize Conversations, includes the text of a series of "conversations" that occurred in November 1982, at the Isthmus Institute in Dallas, Texas, among four Nobel laureates: Sir John Eccles, Ilya Prigogine, Roger Sperry, and Brian Josephson. Norman Cousins was the moderator for those conversations. After listening to Drs. Eccles and Sperry discuss their research, documenting that the mind exerts a significant influence on the brain, Cousins was constrained to say that when we see evidence such as that produced by the scientific research of Nobel laureates like Sperry and Eccles, which shows
...that mind is in charge of brain, we spontaneously recognize their conviction as something we've always known or at least suspected. What grips us as we listen to these men is not only the elegance of their demonstrations, nor the sheerly rational force of their arguments, but their everydayness.... We find ourselves agreeing with Sperry and Eccles because what they say seems "right".

Briefly the model of consciousness is that Cooper-pair layers of positive and negative half-spin axions couple to the "corporeal" physical brain on one (metaphorical) side, and to an "incorporeal" higher self or soul composed of half-spin axions on the other. The incorporeal layer is said by Jerome to be a living, sentient life-form. The actual coupling mechanism to the brain is also incorporeal, i.e. not chemical or electrical, consistent with Bohm theory.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Dark matter may be just as real as visible matter, but a subtler form of matter. The physical (and chemical) properties of dark matter are unknown. Devoid of electrical charges, the dark matter permeates the visible matter without being detected. Will charge-less particles form dark atoms? Will they then interact strongly with each other and with ordinary matter? If subtle dark matter chemistries exist, they may yield subtle bodies and may give us a theoretical basis for the subtleties of the mind. Then, the possibility exists for dark atom structures and chemistries which are parallel to ordinary structures and chemistries, but undetectable. That sounds like the mind stuff. It is conceivable that the confirmation of a chemically active dark matter will have a greater impact on science in this century than quantum mechanics, information theories, and DNA in the previous century. Mind is admittedly mystifying. It is invisible and undetectable, but is coupled to the physical body, in and through which mind operates. However, a mystery per se need not be metaphysical or mystical.

Mind Matter.
Wave function collapse is universal, but complex mental phenomena are unique to humans. So, the mental world must have sources other than wave function collapse. Jung and Pauli (See Meier, 1992) suggested a thought-field with its own elementary particles. Since thoughts are invisible any such field and particles must also be imperceptible. It must be a hidden physical field parallel to that of the ordinary material realm. The dark matter realm may fill the bill. Present data seem to indicate that ordinary (baryonic) matter constitutes only about ten percent of all matter. Both theoretical physics and cosmological models predict the possibility of existence of certain type of exotic particles (nonbarionic), which are strands of localized energy in space, with very low mass and no charge. Predictions of super-symmetry theory in particle physics, also suggest the existence of vast amount of dark matter (R. Peccei and H. Quinn, 1977). The two major possible candidates for the dark matter, with the amusing acronyms MACHOs and WIMPS, are the Massive Astrophysical Compact Halo Objects (West, 1992) and Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (Griest, 1993; West, 1992). WIMPS are the little weak dark matter candidates, which are thought to be made of exotic stuff, called non-baryonic matter. Astronomers look for MACHOs and particle physicists for WIMPs.

                                                                                                                                                                                                         Dark Matter Realm.
Current speculations about the Big Bang do not conclude that all forms of matter began at this event (Trefil J. 1993; Silk, 1989). Dark matter may have been present even before the presumed Big Bang event. Luminous matter is what is claimed to be formed during this singular event. The microwave background radiation of the universe (the "echo" from the Big Bang) and the red shift which shows an expanding universe are presented as quantitative experimental evidences supporting the hot Big Bang Theory. Both of these phenomena are based on observation of radiation from luminous matter. This does not rule out that some form of "dark matter" may have existed before the Big Bang and the primordial production of atoms. Conceptual bias notwithstanding, dark matter field theories are likely to be developed more systematically within a theoretical framework of a unified field theory, that includes gravitational and electromagnetic fields. Dark matter fields may have been primal phenomena within a physically expanding universe. There are many categories of WIMPs suspected. Various theorists have dubbed some of them supersymmetric particles, photinos, neutralinos, cosmic strings or membranes, preons, quark nuggets, monopoles etc. Microleptons also have been proposed. Another candidate for dark matter is a theoretical non-thermal particle called the axion. This type of matter may fall into the broad category of "dark matter", because it is invisible, and cannot be easily detected being electrically charge-less. Our visible bodies could be permeated by it, without us ever knowing. All the other candidates for dark matter were created in cosmic thermal processes and have thermal velocities, including the thermal axions presently being created in the sun. However, there are no definitive conclusions about the exact nature, size, shape, mass or form of dark particles, except that they have no electric charge. Being charge-less, dark matter does not interact with electric charge. In the ordinary chemical sense, there is no reason for it to preferentially interact with body physiology, which is charge dependent. So, chemists have not looked into the possibilities of extra-ordinary chemistries, though extra ordinary matter has been known to physics since the 1930''s as a necessary ingredient of the cosmos. Mass estimates of dark matter range from tiny subatomic particles weighing 100,000 times less than an electron to black holes with masses millions of times that of the sun (Mateo, 1994). In order to accurately describe the structure of dwarf galaxies, Wayne Hu et al (2000) assumed an arbitrary mass of 10-22 electron volt. He claims this is reasonable, since the mass of dark matter particles is an unknown, adjustable parameter. Its quantum mechanical, or de Broglie wavelength (non-thermal) would then be a few thousand light-years, large enough to span the whole galactic core, which automatically spread out the mass from the centers of dwarf galaxies and match observations more closely. This is called "fuzzy cold dark matter". Such particles would form a colossal Bose-Einstein condensate in and around every galaxy, a state known to exist only for ultra cold atoms in laboratories. If the mass of an axion is about one billionth of an electron mass, the axion wave extends well beyond the earth. Then it is plausible that the axion matter must be a BEC from ambient to perhaps even to solar temperatures. In the ordinary physical world of electrons and protons, BECs can exist only at ultra cold temperatures, but the extraordinary world of axions may have this intrinsic property at all temperatures, satisfying the zero-point temperature requirement for a BEC. This is of significance for information theories and processes, and hence for the invisible mind. A conceptual leap from the invisible matter to invisible mind is appealing.

Axion Atoms.
Presently it is assumed that axions exist apart from ordinary matter and interact very weakly with it. If a symmetry breaking process produced cosmic axions before matter and anti-matter recombined, the number of axions will be comparable to the number of photons in the universe. It is estimated that there must be more than 10 trillion axions for each proton and neutron in the cosmos, making them a major part of dark matter. Physicist John Cramer ("http://mist.npl.washington.edu/av/altvw05.html) claims that axions are geometrically similar to an electric and a magnetic field oriented parallel to each other, so that intense electric and/or magnetic fields can theoretically transform axions into photons of all energies including microwaves. Axions of Wayne Hu et al (2000) have a mass of 10-22 electron volt, with non-thermal de Broglie wavelength of a few thousand light-years spanning the galaxies. An axion of 1 eV = 17.83 x 10-31 gm i.e. about one- tenth of a million-trillion-trillionth of a gram, has thermal de Broglie wavelength of about 12.0 x 10-10m (or 12 Angstrom units, A). The average optical wavelength is about 6000 x 10-10m, i.e. 6000 Angstrom units; the average atomic wavelength at ambient conditions is about 0.166 x 10-10m, about 36,000 times lesser. The smallest atom is about 1 Angstrom in diameter. The mass of choice for axion will be such that it isomorphously permeates each subatomic particle. It is inane to think that such dark matter are afloat carrying information and solving the mind-body problem. It is not free floating subatomic particles, but a structured configuration that constitute ordinary matter. So also, corresponding structured configurations of dark atomic particles of very low mass and capable of dark chemistry seem to be an interesting prospect. Toward that goal, the following assumptions are made:
1. Axions of very low mass are confined to the dimensions of ordinary subatomic particles. They occupy the same space that the fundamental particles occupy, but with masses several orders less than one electron volt. 2. They will permeate the visible particles and atoms in an isomorphic manner, and become indistinguishable from the latter. 3. They may form axion atoms possessing bonding properties, through spins and configurations of constituent units. 4. Specific axion dark atom exists corresponding to each known ordinary atom. This relationship will be similar to that between objects and their signs. 5. Certain elemental relations exist which govern the axions such as spin, gravity (exchange of gravitons), resonance, entanglement or an yet to be determined bonding force. 6. Coupling of these dark atoms to the ordinary atoms is possible. 7. Associated with every axion particle is an undetectable charge "C" that can be plus or minus similar to electrical. A hydrogen atom may have a dark counterpart existing parallel to it. Its one proton and one electron (and no neutron) may each have its shadow axion form condensed within its dimensions and permeating it. Similarly all known atoms will have their protons, neutrons and electrons isomorphously suffused by their shadow axion forms. For dark chemistries to occur, these are confined to the ordinary atomic dimensions, with their wavelengths condensed to those of ordinary atoms. If these axions must interact with physical energy and be coupled to physical particles, that should be through mechanisms that are logical and relevant to the physical realm. In the visible realm of ordinary (baryonic) particles, electric charge is the bonding force between them. No such charge exists in the extraordinary non-baryonic matter. However there are such physical forces as spin, gravity (graviton exchange), resonance, entanglement or an as yet undetermined force, which may bond these dark particles together and or bind them to the visible particles. [There are many non-falsifiable theories afloat such as axion fields, spin fields, microleptonic fields, heterogeneous physical vacuum, torsion fields etc]. Then, such invisible axion bodies may form the substrate extraordinaire for the mental realm. Dark chemistries parallel to and coupled to ordinary chemistries, will involve electrically charge-less components of dark matter atoms and their reactions through some kind of bonding. Spins and configurations of electrons lead to chemical bonding in ordinary matter. Same phenomena may occur in these axion atoms also. It could be through an intrinsic angular momentum (spin) with clockwise and anticlockwise directions (positive and negative signs). Then spin-spin coupling between dark particles may facilitate dark chemistries parallel to normal chemistries. The spin-charge coupling of dark and ordinary matter may lead to coupling of the ordinary subatomic particles to their dark counterparts. In addition, there is the possibility of resonance, entanglement and graviton exchange, which may be facilitating factors for interactions that lead to possible dark atom chemistries occurring parallel to ordinary chemistries. This may lead to a dichotomy or even trichotomy of physical entities (made of both visible and dark atoms), depending on how one wants to look at this complex hierarchy. The dichotomy will be made of ordinary matter and processes coupled to dark matter and dark processes. That will be a diune structure of ordinary matter and dark energy states. The trichotomy will be triune hierarchical states of ordinary matter, dark matter and energy processes. In other words, the trichotomy will consist of ordinary physicality, extraordinary physicality, and energy processes (both dark and visible). Interactions of Dark Matter Axions can be as Bose-Einstein-Condensate (BEC), which pervade all matter, from ambient to solar environment. However, we are interested only in axions that are confined or condensed within baryonic particles. As already stated, different axion atoms with different but negligible mass, and zero electric charge, may be held together by a binding force other than electromagnetic. The binding force may result from spin, resonance, gravity, entanglement or an as yet unknown force. Then we need to consider: 1. Dark atomic structures similar to those of the ordinary atoms. 2. Bonding between dark atoms, through spin and configurations as in ordinary matter. 3. Coupling of dark atoms to the ordinary atoms. The first two aspects have to address the prospects of electrically charge-less components of dark matter atoms, and their reactions through some kind of bonding. Spin and configuration, entanglement [coupling of the two such that the state of the one determines the state of the other] or a yet to be determined force, may be involved. The asymmetries of structure or forms may also be pertinent factors here. The third question of dark matter coupling to ordinary matter may involve resonance and gravity (exchange of gravitons). If dark atom chemistries are plausible, a hierarchy of products may exist, from dark molecules, genes, cells gametes, and organs to dark organisms, covering all stages of the development of life. These will exist parallel to and isomorphously permeating their visible counterparts. Thus, a dark soma may exist coupled to the visible body and parallel to it. These doubles of luminous atoms coupled to their dark matter forms produce the doubles of atoms, molecules, cells, organs and organisms. The dark forms exist in parallel to the corresponding luminous (ordinary) structures. For example, the ordinary DNA is suffused with an information loaded dark DNA. The genetic code and information on the dark DNA's may also have phylogenic specificities. From the zygote to the total human body, all constituents made of ordinary matter are permeated by their axion counterparts.

                                                                                                                                                                                               Spin Coupling.
If the charge-less shadow particles possess an intrinsic angular momentum (spin) with clockwise and anticlockwise directions (positive and negative signs), spin-spin coupling between dark particles may facilitate dark chemistries parallel to normal chemistries. Instead of, or in addition to, spin-spin coupling, there is the possibility of resonance, entanglement and exchange of gravitons. The spin-charge coupling of dark and ordinary matter may lead to coupling of the shadow particles to the subatomic particles. Evidence seems to be mounting for a positive answer to the question regarding the relationship of the axions to the ordinary matter. It is difficult to conceive of a kind of matter that interacts gravitationally with ordinary matter in the normal way and yet fails to distribute itself in the same geometric formation as that of normal matter. If dark matter is governed by conventional gravity, its distribution will be the same as normal matter. However, it interacts with itself differently from how ordinary matter does with other ordinary matter. Perhaps, spin, entanglement and resonance and quantum properties may play their roles in dark atom interactions. Existence of spin-coupling forces remains open. Any coupling relation existing between luminous and dark matter in a galaxy cluster core should in principle shed light on the physical properties of dark matter relative to the visible mater and perhaps on the nature of dark matter itself. In two recent papers, Giraud (1998) showed that the observed kinematics of disk rotating systems are consistent with a coupling relation between the visible (stars + gas) and dark mass distributions. One force that does act on both is gravity, which means we should be able to detect this effect. There is also the possibility of spin-charge coupling between dark and ordinary particles and spin-spin coupling between dark particles.


Quantum Coupling.
In quantum mechanics, coherence coupling involves objects being in more than one state at the same time. This uncanny concept known as superposition makes instantaneous interaction between objects possible. Quantum computing is an ingenious method of computation that tries to use quantum coupling to carry out logical operations and develop quantum computers. Spin-spin coupling in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is an example of quantum coupling where the states of two particles are shared. Quantum coupling is being used to develop quantum computers at IBM. Since such coupling can take place over long distances by the process of entanglement, the coupling is said to be simultaneous. Regardless of whether quantum coupling is really simultaneous or just so fast that it seems simultaneous to us, it is a highly reliable and predictable phenomenon. It is vital to life and makes nanotechnology possible. According to the second law of thermodynamics, no coupling can be 100% efficient in a physical system. However, muscles and brains have molecular motors known as actomyosin complexes which couple energy from ATP into mechanical motion with nearly 100% thermodynamic efficiency.

Resonance Coupling.  
                                                                                                                                                                                              Structural resonance contributes to the stability of many molecules or ions. A classical example is the hexagonal benzene molecule with alternate single and double bonds (chemical). This is very common in chemical states, especially organic chemistry where different electronic configurations of the same compound contribute to its extra ordinary stability. Benzene molecule is a well-known example. Usually reality is best represented by a hybrid structure of the resonance entity. Resonance between different electronic configurations strengthens the bonding between adjacent atoms and distributes charge over a greater number of atoms. The hybrid becomes more stable than any individual resonance structure. Here, resonance means stability. (Riordan, p. 213, also: Silk, p. 125). An analogy with Phonon-Photon coupling may be relevant. In solid-state physics, a phonon is a quantum of lattice vibrational energy. In analogy to a photon (a quantum of light) in electromagnetism, the phonon can be viewed as a wave packet with particle-like properties. Its behavior characteristics determine or affect various properties of solids. When photons and phonons interact in semiconductors used in communications systems, undesirable system behavior can occur (Weik 1989). The energy of a phonon is usually less than 0.1 eV (electron volt) and thus is one or two orders of magnitude less than that of a photon. [See the American National Standard Dictionary for Information Technology (ANSDIT), ANSI X3.197-1996, and the draft of the Millennial Edition of ANSDIT 2000].
Matter + mechanical energy = matter + photon emission + phonon emission.
The classical mechanical excitation has a continuous character, but the response energy (photons) is quantified. That is, the mechanical energy is concentrated from the macroscopic and continuous distribution to the local quantum distribution in the atomic scale. In the absorption-emission reactions in solids by mechanical action, the energy transformation occurs from continuous into the quantum states. Likewise, the continuous phonon energy is coupled to the discontinuous light energy. A similar process may exist between the dark and the luminous bodies (and processes). There will be individual differences in these resonance processes. Resonance may be esoteric, but not metaphysical or mystical. At the quantum level there may be a unified field resonating to intensify, through sympathetic vibration, the interactions necessary for any contextual event or phenomenological moment. Such resonance innately possesses complementary aspects of existence and experience such as "conscious and unconscious, voluntary and automatic, nurture and nature, wave and particle, time and space (Keener, 1999). It is a contrasting continuum of complementary characteristics. Holistic self-organization is possible. The luminous body particles may resonate recursively with its shadow self. There may be an explicit quantitative and an implicit qualitative aspect of this dark-luminous particle resonance, at the quantum level.

Extraordinary Chemistry.
With the development of Quantum Mechanics, the atom is no longer considered a solid indivisible mass of particle that cannot interpenetrate other atoms, as was assumed by Dalton, the English chemist and school teacher who developed the atomic theory over one hundred years ago. Only, it does have a solid appearance due to interactions of the electric field. Absence of electric charge in dark matter raises questions about its combining capacity. Some force other than electromagnetic must bind the axion atoms. They could then form a hierarchy of atoms, molecules, compounds, cells etc. which will invisibly penetrate the corresponding visible entities. These dark atoms could interact with each other by their own individual binding force, much like ordinary atoms interact mutually through their electromagnetic binding force. It must be noted that the electric charge is a property of the luminous matter, not a thing in itself. So is spin. When charged bodies interact, that interaction is between properties. We know the role that spins play in chemical interactions. Besides, there may be other charge-equivalent properties enabling charge-less dark matter to interact and lead to dark chemistries and dark physiology at the cellular level. Graviton-exchange, resonance, spin, entanglement or an as yet unknown force may enable them to interact between themselves, couple to and resonate with the ordinary physical world. Surprisingly, modern chemistry somehow has so far omitted dark matter for any such considerations. If these atoms interact with each other through their own distinct binding force, that may lead to subtle chemistries and subtle bodies. Subtle bodies made up of different types of invisible matter, could be a venue to shift the problem of consciousness. This would suggest that mind may be invisible, but superbly physical, of an exotic form, a spiritual body (1Corinthians 15:44).

The Axions of Mind: Microleptons.
As stated already, the axions may exist as both local and cosmic BEC. Eminent Russian researchers posit the idea of an universal lepton gas, having several levels of particle masses between 10-40 and 10-30 grams, with full information about the material world. Anatoly Okhatrin (1989), a Russian physicist, claims that super weak electromagnetic pulses and clusters of the lightest particles called micro leptons carry visual and audible signals, as well as thoughts and feelings, traveling in space-time at almost the speed of light. Super weak pulses of electromagnetic and micro lepton fields carry them. Visual, audible, and other images, and all thoughts and feelings exist in the form of clusters of super light elementary particles of micro leptons. These are reminiscent of Plato's eidoses (ideas or thoughts) autonomously afloat in the air with no boundaries and Aristotelian forms. Thus, thoughts and feelings are material, according to the micro lepton concept. Expressed in mathematical formulae, every single human thought has a mass of weight varying from 10^-30 to 10^-40 g. It must be emphasized that, these are all unverifiable speculations and irreproducible experiments. However, if confirmed, these will be momentous findings. Even if an axion medium exists that is capable of computation, that by itself cannot explain mind and consciousness. These axions must be in a structured form. If micro hadrons such as micro protons and micro neutrons made of micro quarks, and also micro leptons such as micro electrons exist, they all will have zero electric charge. Their masses are few orders of magnitude less than 1 eV. For the somatic axions, we assume that they have their wave functions reduced to zero except within the physical bounds of protons, neutrons and electrons. A dark atom is composed of these dark micro particles. These dark atoms may combine to yield dark chemistries. The mediator, in the quantum depiction of this process may be as elusive as graviton. It is not necessary to totally rule out an intrinsic angular momentum or "spin" for these particles, which could be clockwise (+) or counterclockwise (-). These spins may facilitate dark interactions and dark chemistries via bond forming configurations. These processes analogous and parallel to their luminous counterparts. We assume that micro dark atoms could be formed through these forces, much the same way as ordinary atoms, according to rules similar to the Auf-Bau principle of atomic structure. The resonance between the dark and visible bodies offers a new approach to explicate mental phenomena. Alternatively, the micro proton may have a positive attractive force of +f; the micro-electron may have a negative attractive force of -f. The micro neutron has zero f, where f is an undetermined force factor. For convenience, the micro electron, micro proton and micro neutron are respectively named emoton, psychon (McCulloch and Pitts, 1943) and neumaton. Collectively they may be given the term noumenon, though not necessarily in the Kantian sense. The noumenon here is a permeating axion that isomorphously condenses within an ordinary subatomic particle. Since all life forms are made of the same matter, certain structural and functional similarities at the basic level of the cell components can exist in the different phyla. However, there is a sharp delineation into plant, animal and human, from the inanimate world. The DNA information, both dark and ordinary, is a causal factor here. The ordinary and the dark DNA code seem to differ in content of information in plants, animals and humans. There seems to be genetically determined different subsets of subatomic particles and their dark counterparts in plants, animals and humans. The information associated with the dark matter is different in the animate and inanimate realms; so also are the dark chemistries in each realm. Plants have only emotons; animals have emotons and psychons but no neumatons. Humans have all the three. These differences and/or selectivity are genetically ordained. [See McCulloch and Pitts, 1943 for use of the term psychons]
Plant cells have (electron + Emoton), proton and neutron, where proton and neutron are also suffused with axions which are not confined within them and do not enter into any dark reactions. Alternatively, all the three elementary particles may have the dark counterparts. In either case, the plant genetic materials (both dark and visible) have information that determines the nature and functions of the plant cells. Animal cells have (Psychon + protons), (electron + emoton) and neutron. The dark matter permeates the neutrons in animal cells but have no dark atom chemistries, because the axions are not confined within their neutrons. Then again, all the three elementary particles of animal cells may have the dark complements. In either case, the animal genetic materials (both dark and visible) have information that determines the nature and functions of the animal cells. Humans have all the three subatomic particles permeated with the axions. Human genetic materials, made of both ordinary and dark matter, have information that determines the nature and functions of the human cells. The genetic structure is almost identical in all animals, plants and bacteria. The close resemblance between insects and vertebrates, humans and bacteria are startling! The organs and limbs of animals, the roots, leaves and flowers of plants have all nearly the same universal DNA double helix. For any given living organism, all its cells descend from one cell. Since all living forms are made of the same gluons, quarks and electrons which are completely and exhaustively described by the laws of physics (Tipler, 1994, p xi), it is often assumed that there must be a message about an "all encompassing principle of the unity of life, even more universal than the cell theory" (Klein, 1970, p 150). Yet, living systems are so diverse, even within the same phylum, indicating a corresponding diversity in genetic information. The similarities in the visible genetic structures fails to account for the phylogenic order, including the levels of consciousness and the hierarchy of mental activities, in the biosphere. The subsets described above of subatomic particles and the noumenons of axion like dark matter particles can account for these differences. The electron subsets are the same for all plants, animals and humans. The proton subsets are the same for animals and humans, but different in plants. The neutron subsets are found only in humans and this matrix is empty for both plants and animals. In other words, only emotons participate in plant cells, both emotons and psychons are involved in the animal cells. Only in humans, all three noumenons are active. The information on these subsets within the genetic materials is species specific. :naughty:

                                                                                                                                                                                                    Resonance & Consciousness.
Resonance has a relational character. Two or more apparently different things or phenomena are linked. They can selectively communicate being integrated into a systemic whole. The links that unite the visible physical objects and the dark-matter processes have their source in the process of resonance. It initiates and amplifies a vibratory response (a link) in the visible receiving system that is attuned to the dark emitting system, rather similar to tuning a radio set to different radio frequencies. The frequency of the receiving and the emitting systems must be very close or equal. During resonance, the dark matter frequencies can be received by the corresponding foci of the visible body, when energy transfers from the emitting source to the receiver. The received energy brings with it the information forms and patterns of vibrations of the emitting source. Specific energies may be associated with specific feelings, inner states, information, ideas, etc. The details of how the subtle and the ordinary bodies interact can be now pursued without resorting to metaphysics. Scientific methodology may not be effectively applicable for this purpose, until we can experiment with subtle matter directly in super colliders. Then, science, philosophy and psychology and all related fields may possibly undergo a significant revolution, cognitively and technologically. The physical and the mental will loose their customarily dualistic implications. There will be no need for the mystical underpinnings for consciousness, either. What is mental may be a super-physical reality. There is nothing unusual about it in the Western thought, since physical resurrection has been a fundamental New Testament principle, well reasoned and articulated by the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians Chapter 15, among many others). Then science need not accept and entertain spooky notions and make quantum leaps in to the bizarre to explain consciousness. The resonance between the luminous structural forms and their nonluminous forms made of dark matter is a physical phenomenon, making one recognize the other. This enables us to shift the problem of sentience and consciousness to this subtle body and leave the operational functions to the visible body, and offers a conceptual basis to work from. A dark matter body may be wrapped up in us without being detected. That seems like the mind stuff. But it is physical. Self-awareness is a recognition problem. In the resonance of the parallel structures, each structure is programmed to identify its resonant forms. Recognition is a resonance phenomenon. Resonance between the ordinary and dark matter system act as a body/mind transducer. Consciousness stays as long as the ordinary energy form is connected to the dark matter energy forms. When the body disintegrates, the axion forms remain. Storage and retrieval are the same neuronal procedures. New thoughts will be stored in the axion memory. A new axion thought just "triggers" an old one and the thoughts linked to it, according to the general principle of signaling in the nervous system. This is not Cartesian dualism. It ascribes phenomenal contents to dark-matter forms. Thus, in principle, there is a link between extended brain-state patterns and the extended shapes of phenomenal experience. Then it is no mystery that a circular pattern in the brain substrate would correlate with the same shape in phenomenal experience, rather than a cubical shape.

Paradigm Shift.
Abandoning a baryon-centric view of the physical world to a more complex baryon-nonbaryon system should not collapse the well-established standard model of the particle world. It may dethrone electrons, neutrons and protons (or ordinary baryons) from the center of the physical realm and add an invisible world in resonance with and coupled to the visible world. Possibly, this may offer a scientific basis for solving the mind-body problem. The invisible conscious mind may be of this extraordinary medium. The ordinary brain and the axion brain will exist in resonance and in parallel with each other. A spiritual body is in tune with the original Hebraic and orthodox Christian view of a physical resurrection as found in both the Hebrew and Greek Testaments. (See Job 19:26, Daniel 12: 2-3; Isaiah 26: 19; Mathew 28:9; John 20:27; 21:13-20; 1 Corinthians 15: 44). The difference between a spiritual body and a physical spirit is only semantic. A spiritual body may be an all-pervading body of nonbaryonic matter with no electric charge. This extraordinary stuff may be the axion like dark matter. The mysterious physical-spiritual gap is bridged by means of dark matter. The subtle physics and chemistry of this exotic matter may yield subtle bodies. This may enable us to have a deeper perspective of life, mind, consciousness, the nature of man (pristine and fallen), our position in the universe, a better appreciation of our actions, decisions, free-will and their consequences at personal, social, and global levels. One may have to learn to acclimatize to the idea that what is coupled to and operates on a physical body may very well be superbly or extraordinarily physical. Interestingly, the Biblical record begins with an affirmative statement involving the Creative Word: "Let there be light" (Genesis 1: 2-3). The light here refers to "luminosity", in the original Hebrew. This is stated differently in John 1:1, as "in the beginning was the Word". "Word" archetypically presupposes vibrations of some sort. Because "light or luminosity was separated from darkness"(Genesis 1:3), it seems to indicate here that darkness or dark matter existed before light or luminous matter, and not all of this obscure stuff, or dark matter, was turned into luminosity. Many times in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures, darkness refers to obscure matter (see James Strongs Concordance). Darkness is referred as follows: "He sets an end to darkness"; "darkness hid in its secret places"; "a swaddling band set for darkness"; "where is its place" (Job 28:3, Job 20:26, 38:9, 38:19); "darkness was under His feet"; "made darkness His secret place", "darkness round about Him"; "blackness of darkness" (Ps. 18:11, Ps 18:9, Jude 13). The space between the "let there be light" instant and the separation of luminous matter from dark matter constitutes time, i.e. space-time. In a general sense, the physics of the brain and the dynamics of conscious mind are related through invisible quantum entities. Neurons are made of semi-local waves of matter in "vacuum" space enveloped by non-local waves. These semi-localized waves collapse into stable structures in the cosmic expanse permeated by "all the non-local waves", as well as some unknown dark matter waves. Thus, a neuron is semi-locally structured piece of the quantum-vacuum continuum, interfacing "matter" and the "vacuum". In this flow of matter-energy quanta, there is an invisible resonance mechanism that generates, store, transfer and recognize information. Dark-matter structures may provide a base for this dark mechanism. At the primary level of reality, the perceptible physical universe itself may be a manifestation of thought. The ontological fabric of the universe smacks of a thought-stuff (Edington, 1928, Jeans, 1929). This mind-stuff need not be metaphysical. It may be the invisible axion forms. As such, the mind-stuff may be a fundamental property of the universe made of discrete quanta of dark matter. There need be no infinite number of parallel universes, as certain interpretations of the quantum theory would require (Everett, 1957). One invisible (dark) parallel universe of intelligence that can produce an immense array of information may straddle the visible universe. The psychons, neumatons and emotons described above may provide the components of this mind stuff, each geometrically permeating the corresponding ordinary particle counterpart. The phenomenon of subjectivity is "an imagining spun out by this mind stuff" (Edington (1928) in resonance with the perceptible physical counterparts.
They are not free floating dark matter particles, but axion-like extraordinary matter existing as Bose-Einstein Condensates (BEC). They are confined within and permeate their conjugate luminous particles (proton, neutron and electron). For each of the physical atom (phi-atom) in the system, a corresponding mind atom (psy-atom) exists. The structure of dark matter and dark chemistries will then provide a means to arrive at the structure of mind. In other words, the elusive mind stuff is made of axion like dark matter. The relation between dark and luminous matter forms may be similar to the semiotic relation between objects and their signs. A manifold S1 of ordinary objects is bound up with an isomorphous manifold of S2 dark objects, with certain fundamental relations existing between the two. An array of phenomenal qualities defined by axion like dark matter structures or conformations may be ordered in a 3-dimensional space, according to their apparent similarities. This will correspond to a neuronal system whose states also can be arranged in a 3-dimensional state space (See Lockwood, 1989). The two states may be equated with each other. The phenomenal qualities may be identical with the dark matter states, confined within, corresponding to, and in resonance with, the ordinary physical systems. Secondary qualities like colors are then merely a series of values of mathematical functions related to the three dimensions of space (Weyl, H, 1934). The secondary properties need not reside in the invisible and inexplicable extra spatial dimensions of something like M-theory, or Bohms curious hidden variables. They are simply the dark neuronal structures.

Conclusion.
Human consciousness is evident but not physically detectable. A non-material thing can be purely physical, such as the photon, neutrino, energy, field, space, time etc., but it makes no such sense to suggest that non-material mind can be physical. The only physical mind that science recognizes is the brain. Axions, and possibly axion atoms made of axion fundamental particles, make it plausible that the invisible mind stuff is physical. Due to the absence of electrical charges in dark matter, other forces such as resonance, spin, graviton-exchange, entanglement or an as yet undetermined force may enable them to interact between themselves, couple to and resonate with the ordinary physical world. One may ask what guaranties the metastable symbiosis from physical body with subtle bodies. Let us talk about mechanism. OBE is possible, but not because "anyone can". Detailed considerations rather show you let down, cheat certain 1)fundamental 2)infallible mechanism, in a bit naive terms "hold of astral body", the brain is computer, it is clear, but also astral body is unimaginable complicated computer.  Interestingly, such a trick- rapid and sufficient inhibition of TPJ gives temporary switching down of this horrible computer- computer guarantying metastable symbiosis (or reincarnational ontogenesis) of "subtle" bodies with physical body. Clinical death, shutting down of whole brain turns out as very less effective in sense of instantaneous separation than particular inhibition of TPJ. This can be compared with OBEs of blind people. 1...2...3m they have such a thing as "astral touch", but suddenly at certain distance full correct sight emerges!!! What happens??? Simply at certain moment the field of mind and the field of consciousness leaves aura zone and metastable symbiosis of "subtle" bodies with physical body predominating switches off. There the passing of something like stream of consciousness, energy-informative stream, includes brain and all seems to conform to reductionism or physicalism and there... it includes not. At once in such model you can make many questions! What is the stereo-basis of "astral sight"? What kind of fields perceives the "astral sight" (for example psi-quantum component of EM fields)? The ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM gives up to 3x 10^20 Hz, may be the ASTRAL gives up to 10^34 Hz, (10000000000000000000000000000000000 Hz).                                                                                                                                          The mind consists of stabilized Whittaker structures inside the living system's bio-potential. Thoughts are a special class of changes/waves in that overall Whittaker-structure ensemble. The personal unconscious is a single small, localized sample of yet a greater collection that represents even deeper unconsciousness.  
E.T. Whittaker, of course, wrote the definitive engineering methodology of how to do all this with EM waves - how to infold the EM waves into a bidirectional wave structure that produces a standing wave of externally force-field-free scalar potential. The two Whittaker papers are (1) "On the partial differential equations of mathematical physics," Mathematische Annalen, Vol. 57, 1903, p. 333-355; and (2) "On an expression of the electromagnetic field due to electrons by means of two scalar potential functions," Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., Series 2, Vol. 1, 1904, p. 367-372. The real functioning of mind, thought, memory, and personality occurs in the infolded Whittaker bidirectional EM wave structures of the overall body's scalar potential - its bio-potential. And one of the great neural scientists has already pointed out that mind and memory are not precise functions of physical location in the brain. There exists a rare, completely bafflingly medical phenomenon - which has until recently been concealed - called hydranencephaly. To the normal materialistic Western biologist, this condition is astonishing, to say the least. In hydranencephaly, a person's cranial cavity is filled almost totally with fluid, not with brain matter. There may be only 5% or so of the brain in there; typically just the small portion on the tip of the spine. The other 95% of the brain case is filled with fluid. Yet the individual may be as normal as you or I. Except, of course, that x-rays of his head will astonish all the doctors. A few years ago, for example, such a hydranencephalic individual graduated from a university in Great Britain, with a degree in mathematics. British news actually made a video documentary on this subject, and particularly on that individual. Now obviously hydranencephaly proves rather conclusively that it isn't really the brain matter or the electrical wiggles in the two hemispheres that constitute the mind. (A number of writers have drawn attention to instances of mental activity being unaffected (or unaffected to the degree that would be expected) when brain damage or abnormality is present. Darling refers to the case of two hydranencephalic children described by John Lorber: the children had fluid where the cerebrums should have been located, but 'neither children showed any evidence of having a cerebral cortex, [but] the mental development of each appeared normal. New Scientist, 8 January 1995, Darling, p.82.
   Darling also remarks that the findings did not attract the attention which was appropriate in the circumstances, and suggests that this was probably due to the fact that 'it raised too many problems or was too far off the beaten track of conventional brain science'. Nonetheless, although the findings were neglected, further research encountered one individual who was deemed to be a 'gross hydranencephalic' and yet he possessed an IQ of 126 and graduated with a first class honors degree in mathematics. And this was despite the fact that he 'had no detectable brain'. ibid. pp.82-83.
   Gauld also cites Lorber's work (published tauntingly in an article entitled 'Is your brain really necessary?'), J. Lorber, 'Is your brain really necessary?' World Medicine, 3 (1980), pp.21-24. as an enigma for physicalism: with the victims of infantile hydrocephalus sometimes possessing as little as 5 per cent of the tissue that would be anticipated, 'many of them manage well despite this immense loss'. Alan Gauld, 'Cognitive psychology, entrapment, and the philosophy of mind', in The Case for Dualism, ed. by John R. Smythies and John Beloff, (Charlottesville, VA: University Press of Virginia, 1989), pp.187-253 (191-192).)Those wiggles normally are correlated with, and communicate back and forth with, the internal Whittaker dynamics of the bio- potential. The brain is a special communications and processing station, interfacing sensors and processed stuff from the external world to the Whittaker-sets, and outputs from the Whittaker-sets to the body and cells. If just a small functioning part of this "way station" remains fully functional, the interfacing still exists.                                                                                                
There's an interesting thing about fluid - about water. The hydrogen bonding structure of water is enormously complex and richly varying. Bond- structuring of water constitutes a special kind of "neo- Whittaker" substructure inside a special kind of potential for that particular body of water. A glass of water, for example, has an overall neo-potential comprised of its hydrogen bond structuring. That water will change its internal bonding structure if you enter the room, or if you blink your eye while observing it. It continually adjusts to everything in its surroundings. The reason is, everything in its environment has charges, and clumps or orderings or structures of potential. And the internal Whittaker structures of all those potentials overlap because the potentials overlap. Therefore the internal bidirectional Whittaker EM waves intercommute. The internal dynamics of the water receives inputs from the surroundings this way, and the water's bonding structure changes accordingly. We've only known the complexity and richness of this water structuring for less than two decades, and so far as I know, no one else seems to be considering the Whittaker infolded EM wave structure aspects of it. The point is this. In the fluid inside the head of a functional hydraenncephalic, the water structuring is quite sufficient to provide the rest of the needed "way-station two-way tuner, processor, and transmitter-receiver." The reason is quite simple The potential of the fluid constitutes a partial potential in the overall bio-potential of the body. It's like the pressure of a mixture of gases the overall pressure consists of the partial pressures of the component gases. The Whittaker structures ensure intermingling and intercommunication through the internal energy channels of the total bio-potential to all its constituents. Therefore the water structuring of the fluid in the head of the hydraencephalic serves - bridgewise - as a substitute brain. Well, one has rather much got involved with the standard chaos problem. You've got hidden order (the thoughts) buried up in a lot of extraneous material. In other words, you're looking at something statistical, and it's got several kinds of hidden order hidden in there in what to you appears to be a whole lot of noise. So you do something very similar to what we described in the snapshot analogy, but apply Whittaker-channel detection at the same time. Actually, a first step in this direction has been beautifully done by Dr. Hunt. She divided the external brain-wave region into several frequency bands. (Actually, harmonic intervals are best, per Whittaker theory.) She set up individual detectors for all the frequency channels simultaneously. Then she divided each of these channels in two branches one branch straight through without a time delay, and the other delayed by a bit, say, 6 milliseconds or so. Then she mixed all the delay channels onto all the no delay channels, and recorded the superposition. And lo and behold, she got beautiful traces of hidden chaos in brain wave activity. The traces exhibited the standard chaos attractors. Her magnificent work is very strong evidence that the real activity of the mind occurs in hidden variables, in hidden channels inside the normal "envelope/external electromagnetics" represented by normal brain wave measurements. Hunt has shown that there is a hidden, deterministic, dynamic order "inside" the normal statistical EM brain activity. Over two decades ago, a Russian scientist, Lisitsyn, obliquely spoke of Russian breakthroughs in this area. Lisitsyn stated that the Soviets had "broken the human brain code." He further stated that some 23 channels were involved, reaching all the way up to optical frequencies. However, only 11 of these frequency channels were independent. He also mentioned that the brain coding did not number over 44 "digits". Now Bearden interprets his remarks as indicative of direct application of Whittaker theory. Lisitsyn of course did not give the details; that's highly classified :skull:  in the Soviet Union, as witnessed by the Petukov/Toth incident in Moscow. However, Bearden interprets Lisitsyn as having obliquely referred to 11 independent Whittaker frequencies - the fundamental frequency and 10 harmonics - that are used by the brain workstation to intercommunicate between the mind and the external electrical/physical functioning of the organism. Bearden interprets the remark about 44 digits to probably mean that there are some 44 different independent Whittaker spectrum sets, where each spectrum consists of the fundamental and 10 harmonics. And in each frequency channel of a set, there are two bidirectional EM waves - actually, an EM wave and its time-reversed antiwave (phase conjugate replica). (Thomas Bearden)
LEON H. MAURER. It is generally assumed by scientists that the brain generates its visual image information by means of such chemically induced electrical potentials at myriads of synaptic junctions--analogous to the signals generated by the light sensitive chemical processes (visual purple, etc.) of the retina's rods and cones, etc. From that point on--how the replicated image is formed in the brain and transmitted to our center of perception--science has very little to say... And what it does say, is rooted in materialistic theories that assume that the brain "thinks", "sees", and--by some convoluted logic, based on simple measurements of brain waves and other activities resulting from contrived visual input experiments and optical illusions, etc.--that the brain is our center of consciousness. Fundamentally, then, the scientific consensus rests on the assumption that the brain, mind and self aware center of perception are one and the same. At risk of oversimplification... They speak of such perception in terms of signal processing in a neural network which either mimics the digital processing of massively parallel computer systems and so called "neural networks", or alternatively, fulfills more or less vague assumptions about how various attributes of the image (edges, chiaroscuro, stereo pairs, colors, etc.) are processed in different parts of the visual cortex and, eventually, assembled and sent to other parts of the brain where an assumed synthesis or fusion takes place, and where a supposed perceptive area functions to "create" or "produce" our visual consciousness (experience or qualia) in particular, as well as all our other sensual and perceptive awareness in general. All this, however, does not provide an explanation of how the 3-d visual system worked in relation to Leon H. Maurer (patent pending) 3-D-ImagiVision process and to certain other processes delivering almost similar results. For example one process, invented at the University of South Carolina allows biofeedback trained doctors to view their operating field (from the opposite side or from overhead) in full 3-D on ordinary TV color monitors--while performing an operation--without using any special glasses that might inhibit their work. (Maurer process allows the same thing--without the biofeedback training, however... And, simultaneously, with a large audience) Also, neither of these processes depend upon transmission or reflection holographic techniques. Sequential stereo images (uniquely processed so as to maintain consistent phasing with the brains sequential perceptive mechanisms--in the case of ImagiVision) are presented on a flat screen, and the entire 3-dimensional processing (or,"fusion" of stereo binocular images) is done entirely within the brain and its associate structures. The reasons why this non-stereoptic and subjective perception of 3-D works in either process--even for one-eyed viewers--has never been explained by science, nor can it be, with conventional theories of visual perception. :naughty:  For another thing, the current theories could not explain the almost perfect spatial relationship between the visual field, as perceived, and the ability to move and place any part of the physical body on any location point inside this field with almost microscopic precision. How do we explain Leonardo, Michelangelo and other great artists with similar visual perception, coupled with precise kinesthetic image transformational abilities? According to Maurer, one way that this direct 3-dimensional correspondence between the visual and kinesthetic fields can be explained simply--is to assume that the brain does not transmit its information merely in the form of electrical potentials to be analyzed and interpreted into empirical coordinates (a very cumbersome process to say the least--almost as convoluted as the our present day computer architecture)... But as instantaneous, 3-dimensional holographic fields composed of the magnetic field-interference patterns generated by the brain's 3-dimensionally distributed synapses and their transformative electro-chemical potentials... A totally analog bio-computer system, so to say, based on fundamental holographic principles. (Could we envision the actual construction of such a purely magnetic, shaped-field controlled, hybrid, analog/digital computer using a non-biological neural network-type architecture? Perhaps that may be the next great leap in computer technology. Thus, the expanding magnetic field patterns generated in one part of the brain could instantly induce corresponding and analogous patterns in another part of the brain. This would explain the instantaneous holistic positional response of the body-linked, kinesthetic control center (located in the front of the cerebrum) to image fields generated in the rear, visual cortex area. An analogy of this could also partially explain the instantaneous connection between the brain centers and the various hormone gland-linked, nerve plexus (chakras?) throughout the body, etc. This possibility also implies that the convolutions of the brain also might perform necessary functions... Acting as wave guides, perhaps, or as channels to concentrate or focus electromagnetic field energies, while at the same time, offering a large surface area for maximum image resolution. In contrast to the scientific assumption that all visual information is passed along between the various control centers of the brain by direct flow of electricity along nerve paths (as is the case with impulses from the brain to the individual muscles, etc.)------- such information is transmitted by 3-dimensional electromagnetic field patterns that instantaneously "induce" analogous electromagnetic potentials at the recei. The next step was to assume that visual (and kinesthetic) memories (and memories and images that appear in dreams as well) must reside in another type of field which has a much longer life than the constantly changing, short-lived electromagnetic fields produced in the upper brain. This implied that a physiological mechanism existed where such super (higher frequency, torsion perhaps) fields were generated--perhaps in the deepest parts of the inner or lower brain. Alternatively, an assumption could be made that electrical fields produced in the outer brain are accompanied by higher order fields produced simultaneously in some part of the inner brain. These shorter wavelength or higher frequency fields would have a much longer life and could account for persistence of memory on many levels. Recently, science has acknowledged that the "vacuum of space" is filled with "field patterns" and that "space" and "matter" are composed of identical "substance." could this higher order field be the "energetic auras" of all things (beings?)... Described by occultists? Or measured by the practitioners of Kurlian photography? These fields, also being cyclical, would consequently be totally analogous with the brain's EM fields and, therefore, capable of producing correspondingly interactive, harmonic resonance effects. i.e.; They could communicate and transfer energy between each other by, for instance, striking a similar note in their respective corresponding octaves... This offers a possible rational for interpersonal dream communications, telepathy, meditative states, clairvoyance, clairaudience, the casting of spells, and even telekinesis. Also the various controlling quantum (torsion) fields, of which there are at least 3 (and probably 4) orders within the general order --correspond, not only to the various energy levels (or E-realms, 6 or 8, we presume) of perceptive consciousness--but, also, to the brain's alpha, beta, theta, delta and other rhythms measured by the EEG. To continue... Thus the range of visual light vibrations within the sidereal electromagnetic spectrum would be analogous to the much higher frequency of light within the higher order quantum (torsion, micro-lepton) spectrum. Consequently, the corresponding EM hologram of a visual image produced in the brain could generate a replication of its visual patterns in an adjoining or interpenetrating AM field, which in turn would regenerate an analogous quantum (torsion) light image by harmonic resonance (much like the plucking of a string on a violin causes the corresponding notes to sound in different octaves on a bass fiddle, and vice versa). Therefore, if this resultant quantum field (in resonance with the original electromagnetic field in the visual cortex) could be the image field perceived directly by the "self awareness" center--then it could account for the inner light we actually see which replicates the light of the external world we only apparently see... Actually, this outer light no longer exists (as far as our perception or consciousness is concerned) after it is converted to chemical and electrical signals upon striking the retina. The only thing we really "see" is the "light" within our own heads. Is this why the Upanishads and Puranas tells us that the outer world is nothing but an "illusion"? Presumably, since what we envision, both while awake, and in dreams, is not what's really out there... (At least, not the same "light" we "see" in our " mind's eye ", that's for sure). Although the above is a simplified explanation of this (not-so-new) theory of consciousness and perception----- goes on to postulate that the self perceptive field representing the "I am I" (eye?)--the self aware "perceiver" (or "I"-consciousness) itself--is located within the pineal gland. (Is this why the Upanishads also state that each human being occupies a space "...no larger than the end of a thumb"?)The hollow space inside this small prune-like organ (pineal gland), located at the deepest center of the brain, contains an amino acid-rich fluid--probably the source of the hormone Melatonin (which, not surprisingly, is activated by light) and some 30 to 40 odd crystals (асеrvulus сеrеbrаlis) of silicon based material (sand or glass--as reported by pathologists and endocrinologists). We further postulates that the magnetic image interference patterns emanating from the brain are converted (by a form of induction) to analogous quantum or torsion patterns by the unique synaptic cellular structure of the lineal... In turn, these impulses are converted (comparable to the action of the brain in reverse) to electromagnetic field interference patterns of a holographic nature...Then, focused (by a complex silicon dioxide crystal assembled in the fluid, perhaps?)--and in conjunction with a coherent, quantum field level, reference (torsion) light beam (generated by the pineal in a manner yet to be determined)--finally reconstructed into an "inner-light" holographic image which exactly replicates a 3-D synthesis of the original, sidereal light- formed, stereo-binocular images on the retinas... Speculatively, this image is further projected (perhaps through the assembled, diamond shaped, crystalline lens in the "pineal theater") back out into the world in front of our eyes--(The brain and skull is transparent to quantum (torsion) energy fields)--to be observed directly by the single-eyed perceptive center (of self-awareness)--as if the 3-dimensional (hologram of the)  light image actually was outside of us. This visual perception process can easily fool us into thinking that the light we see is really the solar or artificial light reflecting from the various objects in our field of view... But, as the Buddhist, Taoist and Hindu philosophers say... "It's all an illusion". Everything we see really does exist solely (as pictures, sounds, images, thoughts, concepts, ideas, etc.) within our own heads. The reflected light out there only gets as far as our retinas. (This doesn't mean that the objects themselves don't exist, even though they are. fundamentally, nothing but "temporarily stabilized assemblages of vibrational energy patterns".) This insight, can lead us to a much fuller understanding of our own individual natures, as well as the nature of our memories, our thoughts, our dreams, our origins, our evolution, and our true purposes and goals... And, literally, who and we what we actually are, where we came from, and where we are going. This perceptive center or "third eye" is located at the "point-instant" in space where the intermediate quantum (torsion) fields reverse polarity, and link into either the lower order brain induced fields, or higher order vibrational fields... (Representing, perhaps, an even deeper, longer lasting and more subtle, universal field of consciousness... The "spiritual" (consciousness) field according to some schools.) For purposes of clarifying the 3-dimensional form of these fields and their internal connecting lines of force (which replicate in the analogous neural networks of the brain and pineal)--rather than the hypercube or tesseract used in many common neural network computer architectural schemes, Maurer proposes a diamond-like, compound hexoctahedron shape (to which he've given the name, "Uniomniform" )... Actually, in its first order (electromagnetic level), this proposed network is composed of 6 octahedron shaped crystals nested together at their apexes into a larger octahedron... And, in its second order, it is composed of 36 (6 to the second power or squared) nested octahedron crystals forming an even larger octahedron... With the following orders being, respectively, 6 to the progressive nth power. e.g., The third order is 6 cubed, etc. (Can anyone see the root connection to all the mystic numbers--including the number of the biblical "beast" of Revelation?) Also, it is interesting to note that most mystical symbols, pentagrams, hexagrams, triangles septagrams, swastikas, pyramids, diamonds, etc. --originate within or are projected or reflected by or through the elements of the uniomniform shape. Tibetan and Indian (both American and Asian) mysticisms and mythologies are very closely related to the diamond symbol as well as the swastika. Interestingly, when inflated, each uniomniform element (octahedron) is also related to Pi--another "mystic number". And, in its highest order, the uniomniform may even symbolize the ultimate gravitational field network of the universe. (Could the uniomniform also relate to the myth of Atlantis and the power crystal of the "Vril" force? And, if so, how?) Food for thought!... eh? ;-) However, I'm told that it's dangerous to rely on diagrammatic representations with respect to multi-dimensional field networks, each of which may function under different aspects of universal law... Although, if used carefully, they can help us--more or less superficially, albeit--to visualize the network interconnections. An argument can also be put forth that reinforces the theory contention that the intermediate and final visual images recreated as electromagnetic field patterns in the brain, (and as induced "torsion" field patterns in the "pineal theater")--are actually holograms--rather than simply a synthesis of the two flat images originally located on the retinas... Interestingly, it can be shown that any light ray reflected from the object which is focused on and activates any particular rod or cone on the retina, can be likened to a single coherent beam of light emanating from that point--much as if it were an actual, directly projected, laser light beam. Also, both rays, reflected from a particular point on the object and which strike a corresponding cone or rod in both the left and right eye, are seen from slightly different angles. Therefore, when both of these coherent rays from a single point are later translated in the brain to magnetic field patterns, when overlapped and interpenetrated, they form a field interference pattern in the visual cortex which is, in effect, the root hologram of that point's image. This, combined with the interference patterns of all the other points in the image, forms the overall root hologram of the entire electromagnet image field in the cortex and, simultaneously, the induced "torsion" hologram in the pineal theater. It is further speculated that the reference beam generated by the perceptive center--needed to recreate the final "astral light" 3-D holographic image viewed by the inner eye--is linked or corresponds to the same source of energy in the overall universal field that produces the reference light in the objective space outside the body. Thus, the inner, subjective image, exactly reproduces the holographic 3-dimensionality of the outer objective image--although using a reference light of a much higher order, quantum level, or frequency phase continuum. :evillaugh:  Lucid dreaming would simply be the ability to transfer our awareness to a higher consciousness level (which, in essence, reigns over the lower levels) so that we can observe the lower field images--externally--and, apparently, change our viewpoint at will. Thus, we can change a dream by simply changing our position in it so as to observe an alternative possibility or, by an act of will--(focused through or reflected by a "dream sword", or other dream weapon or cutting tool symbol, perhaps)--generate an analogous energy force (image) in the higher field that can neutralize or transform an inferior image in the lower field... "Imagination coupled with will is our most powerful tool", says the sage. Science, therefore, in terms of the visual system, does not consider... That the subjective consciousness is a non-physical entity-in-itself--and that it uses the brain simply as a tool to generate an analogous electromagnetic field which represents the optical image on the retina as an analog of the original "objective" image, as well as of each following image transformation--until it arrives at the "consciousness" level, and is interpreted and "experienced" by the "mind" and "emotions".... And, secondly, that the first EM field in the chain of coenergetic images produced in the visual cortex of the cerebrum, is simply one step in a series of field transformations between the reflected "outer light" of the objective image on the retina--as it progresses to the final "inner light" of the "subjective" image "seen" (experienced) by the organism's center of perception. The brain--through a series of transformations from the image produced optically on the retina, leading to the chemical and electrical transformations in the brain's neurons and terminal synapses--finally produces a radiating electromagnetic field pattern in the visual cortex which analogously represents the original image as it appears on the retina. This electromagnetic field pattern is, essentially, a holographic interpretation of the entire field of vision as reported by the individual rods and cones of each eye. With respect to this, it might be assumed--since each rod and cone reports on an individual ray of light reflecting from a unique and particular point on the original object--that the resultant image is made up of numerous individual coherent light beams reflecting directly from the object to the lens of the eye and focused on the retina. This implies that the light rays from the original image that strikes each rod and cone of the retina (to be interpreted by the brain--individually) are, in effect, laser beams. Thus, the analogous electromagnetic field image produced by the brain could serve as the reflected image part of a true electromagnetic-field, interference-patterned hologram of the original image (provided there could be superimposed on it a coherent reference field of fixed frequency and wave length). However, to be viewed directly as a visual hologram, this image would first have to be transformed into an analogous field of internal light ( "astral-light"--to use the name coined by ancient occultists) capable of being observed directly by the perceptive consciousness. This analogous field can be called the astral field in contrast to the brain's electromagnetic field. Since the center of perceptive consciousness appears to be located at a particular point in the middle of the head, it is assumed that this point exists within the brain at the almost exact location of the Pineal gland. From what is known by examination of the Pineal structure ex-vivo -- (the organism dies immediately if a brain probe penetrates to within 1/2 inch of the pineal, according to Endocrinologist-researcher, Dr. Dorothy Bardeen) -- It is a hollow structure about the size of a small prune. Its outer appearance is of a wrinkled micro cellular structure with convolutions similar to the outer surface of the brain. Inside, is a viscous fluid made up of a mixture of organic molecules, possibly disassociated proteins and individual molecules of various hormones, nucleonic acids, and enzymes produced by the gland. Also inside are a number of grains (reportedly, about 30-50) of what is said to be "crystals of sand" (Glass, SiO2... but maybe even pure silicon). Could this be the remnants of a crystal which produces the reference beam of torsion field necessary to recreate the hologram of the original image in the pineal? If so, and if the individual "sand" particles are in the form of small octahedron (or 8 sided double pyramidal) crystals, then 36 of them, somehow held by the resinous pineal fluid (or an internal shaped electromagnetic field) in point-to-point contact, may form a larger octahedron shape having a number of regular tetrahedron voids that could act either as a solid state torsion field lens, astral field-effect amplifier, astral-light lasing medium--or all three. This possibility--that there is a more or less mechanical interface in the body between its quantum and electrical energy fields--could pave the way toward proving that such energy exists in actuality, rather than theoretically (as proposed) and could open a vast area of experimental research into applications. Theory also postulates that the electromagnetic field formed in the visual cortex of the brain, representing a momentary image focused on the retina, induces an analogous pattern in the astral field surrounding the neurological structures of the pineal gland. It is further postulated that these astral field energies are mediated, if not generated, by the resonant cavities related to the topology of the proteins which make up the pineal's hormonal structures. The neurological structure of the pineal may also enable a flow of quantum (astro) energy, corresponding to the "astral light" frequencies of the astral field, which creates a focused ray of astral light within the fluid center of the gland that is entirely coherent. This ray serves as the "inquiray", so to speak, of the visual awareness center which is probably located at a single point on the inside surface of the pineal gland. At the same time, the astral field pattern transformed from the electromagnetic brain pattern of the original visual image is focused within the central space opposite to the perceptive center--(perhaps, through the crystalline structure formed by the "grains of sand" found inside the pineal)--to create a perfect astro-holographic replica of the original physical light image falling on the retina. This reflected astral image is subjectively "observed" by the visual awareness field in the same relative proportions as the objective field of vision--appearing as an apparently, sequential-frame (controlled by the "visual gate" frequency) holographic motion picture projected on the "dome" wall within the fluid space of the pineal. We could call this space the "Pineal Theater." Note here, that the direct link between the visual image pictured in the rear brain (visual cortex) and the body's kinesthetic image coordinated in the fore brain, can be explained by a similar resonance of analogous electromagnetic fields and astral fields produced in both parts of the brain and in corresponding parts of the pineal--which, together, enable us to subjectively control the exact position of the body parts within the visual field to a highly precise degree. For example, this theory partially explains why we can place our finger or the tip of a brush or pen exactly on a precise point within our visual field (provided our eyes remain open and both the object point and the point of our pencil or brush can be seen together within the visual field). Thus, the astral virtual image in the pineal, in a sense, controls the positions of our body in the objective field--in exact correspondence with the subjective visual field--by a similar sort of field transformational EM to AM feedback from the pineal to the cortex and forebrain and subsequently to the muscle-controlling neurological field, etc. Possibly, an analogous field pattern representing the entire neural structure of the body exists in corresponding parts of both the brain and the pineal which serve as feedback guidance controls determining positions of various parts of the body. :eyecrazy:  It is also hypothesized--on the assumption that the astral fields in the pineal exactly replicates, by resonance, the electromagnetic fields induced in the brain, and that this field, in turn, corresponds to the positions of the body as determined by signals induced in the nervous system through the brain and its connected neurological network system--that a corresponding macro-electromagnetic field surrounds the body, with every part down to the smallest cell represented by a corresponding micro-field pattern within the overall field pattern. Concurrently, it is postulated that an identically produced and corresponding astral field, representing the bodily "forms", cell structures, genetic patterns, and codes as well as positions of the body, also exists within the confines of the pineal "theater." This formed image field may be an extension of the "astral body" described by occultists that controls the architectural patterns of the entire physical body, and may explain the "phantom limb" effect experienced by amputee. :celebrate:  

                     Sherrington's search for the mode of action of mind upon brain was continued not only in Canada by Penfield but also by another of his pupils who became a worthy successor, this time in the British Isles, Sir John C. Eccles. Eccles is considered by many of his peers to be among the world's leading neurophysiologists, and recognition of his stature came in due time when he was made Nobel laureate. For the last twelve years of his long active career in research, Eccles was working in the United States as Director of the Laboratory of Neurobiology at the University of Buffalo Medical School.
    His research led him ultimately to adopt a form of interactionism very much like that proposed by Descartes. However, he reached this position on the basis of experimental evidence rather than armchair philosophy. When he retired, he took the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the fruits of his research.
    Together, Popper and Eccles have set forth the essence of these reflections in a notable volume entitled The Self and Its Brain. Evolution of the Mind or Creation? Two Routes to the Same End. The format of this volume, The Self and Its Brain, is unusual. Its unique character stems from the fact that while both men agree as to their main proposition indicated in the sub-title, "An Argument for Interactionism," the route which each came to this position was quite different. They disagree with respect to the origin of the conscious mind, and they disagree as to the destiny of it. In the matter of the origin of mind, Popper sees almost certainly an evolutionary origin; Eccles seems to favor some form of creation. In the matter of destiny, Popper holds that we should not commit ourselves beyond the experimental evidence, but should keep an entirely open mind on the question. Eccles is clearly much more committed to the view that the mind or "soul" (as he now calls it) has a destiny beyond the grave for which this present life is strictly preparation.
    Popper's view, in essence, is that soul is an evolutionary emergent somehow arising out of the activity of the brain but, once formed, having a measure of independence which no longer allows it to be fully described in terms of physics and chemistry. He elaborates this view in the first part of the volume arguing, for the most part, on philosophical grounds.
    In the second part, Eccles presents the essence of the experimental findings and some of his conclusions from a more strictly analytical point of view. Here we find evidence of an essentially scientific nature interpreted in support of the interactionist position, a position adopted by both authors. Experimental Evidence of the Priority of Will Over Action, of Mind Over Brain. Eccles refers particularly to the work of H. H. Kornhuber as reported in l974.  Kornhuber discovered the existence of electrical potentials generated in the cerebral cortex following the exercise of will to action and prior to the actual performance of motor activity. Between the conscious act of will and the activity resulting from it, he consistently observed a measurable interval lasting for a few seconds or less. Kornhuber, H.     In this brief but highly significant interval there is a flurry of electrical potentials over a wide area that gradually centers or concentrates the signals which then bring about the movement willed. This takes the form of "a developing specificity of the patterned impulse discharges" until the pyramidal cells in the relevant cortex area are activated to bring about the desired movement. The delay between willing and willed movement is quite measurable. The nature of the will and the resulting willed action correspond.
    The problem remains, however, as to how the neuronal impulses are set in orderly action by the will. One has to assume, Eccles believes, that there is a bridge of some sort "across the interface between the mental world and the physical world." Eccles admits that it is not yet possible to give a scientific account of the nature of this bridge, but holds that Kornhuber's experiments are presumptive experimental evidence that action can indeed be initiated by the will without the introduction of external stimuli in the chain of events leading from one to the other. Moreover, he feels it important to bear in mind that we have the ability to manipulate mental images without there being any consequent overt movement. It is thus possible to exercise "will" in two different ways: as imagined movement or as actual response by intent.
    Eccles describes Kornhuber's experiments as follows: Elementally simple movements of the index finger were executed by the subject entirely of his own volition, while the very small potentials from the surface of the scalp in the associated control area were accurately timed in respect both to the moment of willing and the moment of responsive movement. The onset of the action potentials resulting from movement of muscles involved in rapid flexing of the finger were used as time markers and compared chronologically with scalp surface potentials. The scalp potentials always preceded the action potentials. The Mysterious Matter of Mind. In each case, the subject initiated "these movements at will at irregular intervals of many seconds, extreme care being taken to exclude all triggering stimuli". It was possible to average from these experiments 250 records of the potentials evoked at each of the several sites over the surface of the scalp. It was found that a "readiness potential" began as a rule about 0.8 seconds before the onset of the muscle action of potential specific to the response. It is rather like the effect of the non-specific warning command given by a sergeant saying, "Company. . ." before giving the specific command which is to follow. It seems to warn that the will is about to act upon the mechanism. No such warning signal or "attention-getter" seems to be involved when action is involuntary. Consciously willed action takes time to be set in motion.
    Eccles summarizes Kornhuber's results as follows: The trained subjects literally do make the movements in the absence of determining influences from the environment, and any random potentials generated in the relaxed brain would be virtually eliminated by the averaging of 250 traces. Thus we can regard these experiments as providing a convincing demonstration that voluntary movements can be freely initiated independently of any determining influences that are entirely within the neuronal machinery of the brain. If we can regard this as established for elementally simple movements there is no problem in extending indefinitely the range of consciously willed or strictly voluntary actions.
    Eccles observes that "many other movements of limbs have been investigated with similar results, and even vocalization." The evidence seems to indicate that "will" initiates a preparatory signal in the brain which is then responsible for the desired movement. Demonstration of interaction can therefore be replicated and always in the same sequential relationships. The Basic Problem: The Nature of the Interface. Eccles is quick to point out, however, that the outstanding problem which remains lies in the nature of the voluntary control mechanism which bridges "across the interface between the self-conscious mind on the one hand and the modules of the cerebral cortex on the other." The connection from there on in, from cortex to motor neurons, seems clear enough. All we can now say is that experimental evidence of interactionism does indeed exist. An avenue of light on the relationship between thought and action that Eccles does not mention might be the finding, known for some years, that unspoken thought is nevertheless accompanied by small detectable movements of the vocal chords. When the congenitally deaf think (those who use sign language), these same potential movements can be demonstrated in the finger muscles rather than in the vocal chords. In reviewing A. N. Sololov's Inner Speech and Thought [Moscow, 1968], Katherine S. Harris observes that electromyographic indicators of this sort may simply represent some kind of "overflow phenomenon." This would seem to be further evidence of interactionism — the flow of thought initiating vocal expression involving muscular activity that is not only unwanted but as far as possible suppressed [Science, vol.176, 1972, "Book Reviews" under "Silent Articulation."] See also J.     Much of what follows in Eccles' treatment is an attempt to map out the problem itself by consideration of current knowledge about the second stage of interaction. The basic problem of the first stage, the mind/brain interaction, still remains. The last third of the volume is a verbatim record of a series of taped discussions between the two men in which their essential agreement on the reasonableness of the interactionist position is made very clear. Toward the end, however, a clear difference of philosophical approach is indicated by the fact (announced in the Introduction written jointly by the authors) that Popper allows no transcendental leanings to color his thinking, whereas Eccles is clearly willing, and indeed committed, to belief in God and a destiny for the soul beyond death. We thus have in this volume the interesting case of two highly informed and intelligent men reaching substantial agreement about the nature of the mind/brain relationship but agreeably disagreeing as to the origin of the self-conscious mind and its destiny after death. The points of disagreement served the excellent purpose of sharpening the debate, largely because both men had profound respect for the other's personal bias. One wishes we could all debate such important issues with the same kind of courtesy and restraint!
    Insofar as Eccles felt free to follow Penfield in "stepping across the boundary" without abandoning the exercise of "critical judgment," his observations at the end tend to open up broader avenues of discussion and to carry the subject matter of this present study beyond the cold hard facts of the laboratory and into the realm of metaphysics. Eccles became fully persuaded as a result of his experiments that mind was not an emergent out of brain but somehow an independent observer and user of it. He speaks of the mind as manipulating the brain, of being its master not its servant. The mind searches the brain's store of engrammed information and integrates what it extracts from that store. It is an active search, not just a passive engagement. It can select from the information it scans in the brain and blend the information it acquires into a meaningful whole, rejecting some of the information and modifying it according to its own will. This deliberate process, imposed upon the output of the brain, contributes in turn to the circuitry and capabilities. Hence the title of the volume itself, which was originally planned as The Self and the Brain, was by mutual agreement between both authors rewritten as The Self and Its Brain. The brain is seen as being acted upon by the mind in a purposeful way and as being programmed uniquely by its attached mind merely by reason of the fact that the mind itself is programmer and programs into the brain only what interests it. Eccles: Mind is Autonomous and in Control. Eccles sees mind and brain as a clear-cut dichotomy and goes so far as to equate self-conscious mind with an entity called soul. He rejects the parallelist view as an evasion of the problem. The mind is not merely a viewer of a TV screen who has no control of the TV program. The mind is an active observer which can select the program, change the channels, adjust color, and even take part in the original programming. There is, he believes, substantial evidence of an active influence of the self-conscious mind upon the neuronal machinery. The mind has no interest in the firings of individual nerve cells any more than the viewer is concerned normally with the functioning of resistor transistors, condensers, or the circuitry of his own TV set. Such firings of individual nerve cells provide the mind with no useful information in themselves, though another mind may be deeply concerned in the event of malfunctioning of the mechanism. It is the collective communal operation of the large number of neurons that has to be the basis of the intelligible and useful readout. This readout is normally a readout upon demand and is integrated by the mind into a meaningful message. The brain's TV "picture" is only a picture because the mind makes it one.
    The mind is by constitution rarely a spectator only, and even then only for brief periods. As a rule it is highly involved. This is especially true in creative thinking and in times of deliberate recall. Eccles agrees entirely with Popper's remark in this connection:  I remember is equivalent to I succeed in remembering. So only at the moment at which its activity leads to a success is the self really a spectator (and nothing else). Otherwise it is constantly, or almost constantly, active Eccles reverted later to the parallelist view and observed: We can turn now to other aspects of the basis for our strong dualistic hypothesis. I want to mention just briefly that we have to assume that our self-conscious mind has some coherence with the neuronal operations of the brain, but we have furthermore to recognize that it is not in a passive relationship. It is an active relationship searching and also modifying the neuronal operations. So this is a very strong dualism and it separates completely our theory from any parallelistic views where the self-conscious mind is passive. That is the essence of the parallelistic hypothesis.
    All varieties of identity theories imply that the mind's conscious experiences have merely a passive relationship as a spin-off from the operations of the neural machinery, which themselves are self-sufficient. These operations give the whole motor performance, and in addition give all conscious experiences and memory retrievals. Thus on the parallelistic hypotheses the operations of the neural machinery provide a necessary and sufficient explanation of all human actions. Popper: There is an Active "Ghost in the Machine" With this overall assessment of the situation Popper agreed — a fact which suggests that Eccles' dualism is not the result of his wishful acceptance of the utility of a spiritual world, since Popper statedly doesn't admit any such world. Nevertheless, he thus far agrees with Eccles as to say with respect to the above: That is exactly what I tried to express when, with a feeling of despair, I said in Oxford in 1950 that I believe in the ghost in the machine. That is to say, I think that the self in a sense plays on the brain, as a pianist plays on a piano or as a driver plays on the controls of a car. This called forth from Eccles the following summary of his own personal conclusions based on many years of active research:
    As a challenge, I will present a very brief summary or outline of the theory as I see it. Here it is. The self-conscious mind is actively engaged in reading out from the multitude of active centers at the highest level of brain activity, namely in the liaison brain. The self-conscious mind selects from these centers according to attention and interest and from moment to moment integrates its selection to give unity even to the most transient conscious experiences. Furthermore, the self-conscious mind acts upon those neural centers, modifying the dynamic spatio-temporal patterns of the neural events. Thus in agreement with Sperry, it is postulated that the self-conscious mind exercises a superior interpretative and controlling role upon the neural events. To this Popper replied: I think that is very good. The only place where perhaps one should seek to make it even stronger is where you speak of the liaison brain; namely, we could make it stronger by making it clear that the liaison brain is, as it were, almost an object of choice of the self-conscious mind. . . .
    So I go even a little further than you in my interactionism, in that I look at the very location of the liaison brain as being the result of interaction between the brain and the self-conscious mind. Mind as an Evolutionary "Outcrop": A Biologically Irrational View. Subsequently in the course of this dialogue, Eccles made what seems to be a very important observation for those who propose that self-consciousness was an advantage to its possessor and was therefore an evolutionary outcrop that was favored by selective pressures. Apart from the fact that many forms of life below man — forms which can hardly be credited with self-consciousness — seem to have a far better chance of survival than man does, the derivative of self-conscious mind seems unlikely for another reason. There is on the parallelist view no biological reason whatsoever why the self-conscious mind should have evolved at all. If it can do nothing. what is the evolutionary meaning of it? . . . .  It can only have survival value if it can do things. Of course, if mind can act upon brain in this dualistic sense as an independent force, then will can act upon matter without being rooted in the matter it is acting upon. Such a concept raises disturbing possibilities in physics and, in fact, could, as Eccles himself suggests, involve a veritable transformation of physics. Eccles quotes an observation by Erwin Schroedinger in 1967 apropos of such a contingency: The impasse is an impasse. Are we thus not the doers of our deeds? Yet we feel responsible for them, we are punished or praised for them, as the case may be. It is a horrible antinomy. I maintain that it cannot be solved on the level of present-day science which is still entirely engulfed in the "exclusion principle" (i.e., the exclusion of all forces save physical ones). . . .  The scientific attitude would have to be rebuilt. Science must be made anew. At the close of this dialogue there are questions that carry us beyond the range of science and perhaps even beyond the range of philosophy. Thus Eccles says: I wanted to stress this pre-eminence of the self-conscious mind because now I raise the questions: "What is the self-conscious mind? How does it come to exist? How is it attached to the brain in all its intimate relationships of give and take? How does it come to be? And in the end, not only how does it come to be, but what is its ultimate fate when, in due course, the brain disintegrates?" The Origin of Mindedness Remains a Mystery. So he observes that the poignant problem confronting each person in his life is his attempt to become reconciled with his inevitable end in death. The inevitability of death affects man uniquely because in his development he has become self-conscious. In his book Facing Reality Eccles made the following observation, which he now quotes: I believe that there is a fundamental mystery in my existence, transcending any biological account of the development of my body (including my brain) with its genetic inheritance and its evolutionary origin. . . .  I cannot believe that this wonderful gift of a conscious existence has no further future, no possibility of another existence under some other unimaginable conditions.

Can we therefore not derive hope because our ignorance about our origin matches our ignorance about our destiny? Cannot life be lived as a challenging and wonderful adventure that has meaning yet to be discovered? Eccles concludes that science has gone too far in breaking down man's belief in his spiritual potential and giving him the idea that he is merely an insignificant material being in the frigid cosmic immensity, a phrase perhaps inspired (if that is the word) by Jacques Monod's bleak picture of the future in his Chance and Necessity.
    The following morning Eccles felt it desirable to sharpen the issue by saying:
   If [mind] is an emergent derivative of simply a brain developed to the highest level in the evolutionary process, then I think, we give way finally to a view that makes the self-conscious mind simply a spin-off from the highly developed brain. . . .
    My position is this. I believe that my personal uniqueness, that is, my own experienced self-consciousness, is not accounted for by this emergent explanation of the coming-to-be of my own self. It is the experienced uniqueness that is not so explained. . . .
    So I am constrained to believe that there is what we might call a supernatural origin of my unique self-conscious mind or my unique selfhood or soul; and that gives rise of course to a whole new set of problems.
    By this idea of supernatural creation I escape from the incredible improbability that the uniqueness of my own self is genetically determined. There is no problem about the genetic uniqueness of my brain. It is the uniqueness of the experienced self that requires this hypothesis of an independent origin of the self or soul, which is then associated with a brain, that so becomes MY brain. Brain, Not the Cause of Mind, but the Conditioner. The brain is not, therefore, the physiological cause of the self, but, as Viktor Frank put it, it does condition it. There is a great difference between causing and conditioning. Frank, Viktor, in discussion of J. R. Smythies's paper, "Some Aspects of Consciousness" in Beyond Reductionism, edited by Arthur Koestler and J. R. Smythies, London, Hutchinson Publishing Group, 1969. The position which both Popper and Eccles take is one of interactionism, the mind governing and employing the brain as a necessary device for its own conscious purposes, but also being in turn influenced by the brain's efficiency, limitations, genetic endowment, and healthy or diseased condition. The brain is limited in its programming by the mind: the mind is limited in its program by the efficiency and capacity of the brain as a machine. There is an interaction but there is a separation between the two parties to the arrangement. The mind, if Eccles is right, is not an emergent, a spin-off, an "arm" of the brain. It exists in its own right. Penfield found himself driven by the evidence to ask similar fundamental questions and quite independently came tentatively to rather similar conclusions. He questioned what becomes of the mind following death. Without a brain, the mind is finally robbed of the instrument essential to its operation. What happens then? All that can be said with any certainty is that the brain has not yet fully accounted for the mind, and perhaps mind can carry on afterwards without it.
    If mind is dependent on brain for its operation insofar as that operation requires some form of energy, whence would that energy come from in the absence of brain? Penfield suggests that perhaps the disintegration of the brain in death sets the mind free to tap some other form of energy. Unless this is so, it would seem that after death, mind must vanish. Can it establish connection with "another source of energy" outside the measurable world? Penfield seems to have in mind a new source of energy and a new source of life. This is not to be equated with pantheism, for the mind itself seems to have acquired a self-conscious personal identity that persists even when gross damage is done to the brain. He cautiously suggests that perhaps even during life some of this new energy comes directly from God Himself. Origins and Destinies. The mind of man is such that the idea of personal annihilation by death is both hard. Penfield, Wilder, The Mystery of the Mind, Toronto, Little, Brown & Co., 1975, p.88. 100. Ibid., p.89. to conceive and hard to accept. We have seen that mystery surrounds origin of the mind, and mystery assuredly surrounds its destiny. Since it seems impossible for us to achieve certainty in the matter of origin by scientific means, there is even less likelihood of achieving certainty in the matter of destiny by scientific means. Where, then, shall we continue the search, since it is inevitable that we shall do so?  :scared3:

May be it is reasonable to DIFFER what is real process and what are subjective sensations of this or other practical projector. Naturally, such differing for some people is PSYCHOLOGICALLY very hard, but nevertheless... So, objective measurements including in some cases objective measurements of subtle energies during OBE show their own picture. Naturally, the so called energy excitation (of torsion fields during OBE) happens, but this is a different matter. Energy activities of any extent are rather directly mirrored by the TINGLING, it exist a mechanism, that's all. We must also not forget that all energetics is mirrored, represented in brain. It exist clear connection with seizures, for example see ATTENTIVE the picture with EEG (in this thread). I guess the (micro) seizures creap trough this or other brain meridian and there we have our detailed sensation of vibrations. Naturally, the feeling of vibrations is connected with seizures. Chakras don't have any LOW FREQUENCY convulsions, if also you somehow manage to induce such a miracle as convulsions by chakras, the subjective sensations will have nothing to do with feeling of vibrations. Imagine- there, in incarnate state, the stream of consciousness includes brain, the outer milieu for stream of consciousness is brain, particularly a distributed phase of non-polar, hydrophobic solubility medium composed of discrete pockets in a group of proteins throughout the brain... and all seems to conform to reductionism or physicalism and there... in next minute you achieve OBE, discarnate state, and outer milieu for stream of consciousness is astral body, but there happens no seizures and you don't feel vibrations. Be not decepted- chakras...also are physical, the concept of the information-energy field, it's material medium, according to contemporary notions, may be a global lepton gas, consisting of extremely light particles, microleptons, with a mass of 10^-40 - 10^-30 g. Microleptons are much lighter than electrons and are capable of freely penetrating any body in the Universe. The gaps between atomic nuclei are for them just as spacious as are the holes in fishing net for molecules of air. The idea of a microlepton gas appears to echo the 19th-century notion of the universal ether, but is scientifically much more complex and profound. What we are talking about in this case is no longer an ideal space-pervading fluid, but a quantum-granular structure of the space-time continuum, filled with whirling streams of polarized microleptons (including some virtually vacuum-born). May be THE SOUL is "non physical".
Such thesis as ""you" are never in your physical body in the first place; "non-physically" located mind" makes little sense." Subtle bodies", "you", consciousness can be described in terms of physics and are located in Euclidean space. In the SPACE-TIME continuum the bodies are an additional "FOLD" in space, a deformation through the fourth dimension, which we can mathematically define in ten dimensions.  In short a deformation with associates VOLUME and TIME. But the Universe (plane) that lodges the Soul is singular. Its mass is zero, its elements static.  Here light has no speed. A piece of data (a series of bits) could be recorded there, but this data could not circulate in its center, in the same way that you could print on a paper sheet and your information would be static. An initial analysis of this concept of the Soul could conclude that such an entity is cold or ,,dead ".  The Soul would be like a book of the Earth covered with dust on an old shelf. In a certain manner it is this way. But paradoxically, Soul is very dynamic, as opposed to what it seems.  Perhaps a comparison would help to understand. In the nucleus of any living cell, there is a DNA chain. Bases, purine and pyrimidine, follow one another and contain the information of the genome.  Here also cold information appears static, as in an old parchment of Yoga, but the chromosomes of a cell can set complex biochemical mechanisms into motion. In the plane of zero mass, the same thing occurs. In a certain manner it is this way. The Soul is a cell closed on itself among billions of similar cells in this plane. There are no connections between them, and each one accumulates all humankind's experiences during its entire existence. But paradoxically, the Soul is very dynamic, as opposed to what it seems.  Perhaps a comparison would help to understand. In the nucleus of any living cell, there is a DNA chain. But the Soul is dimensional and can be in another plane of the Universe, so that disturbances in the material plane are correlated in the dimensional plane of the psyche. Here you will understand saying that the SOUL HAS NEITHER DIMENSION NOR TIME, while at other times we speak about the DIMENSIONS OF the SOUL. The theological conception of the soul or spirit is very poor and contradictory.  If it is dimensional, as various authors postulate, it should be located HERE, in the Euclidean space and could be weighed, measured, or photographed.  When more intelligent theologists allot an adimensional character and atemporality to it, they are approaching the truth but:  How can it process data, if it is purely spiritual and is deprived of energy? If the soul can become aware, for example, of the concept of God, it must do it by an act of reflection, which requires a mental process and consequently a flow of data.  But, how can a system of data run without an energy channel? It is the hierarchy of subtle bodies that PROCESSES the DATA, i.e.: in the sense of working out, combining, creating data. The chain of krypton atoms is only the conveyor of data (the channel). The Soul is not able to process data, to think, work out information, but only TO PRESERVE, (in a plane without " dimension "), and "freeze the intellectual and emotional information which comes from bodies. Remember that the SOUL does not think that it is a simple cold matrix of data. It can treat its own amount of information only with the assistance of subtle bodies. You should not underestimate the enormous transcendence of subtle bodies.  Without it, the individual soul is like an old manuscript locked up forever in a forgotten cellar.  Without being able to think, to feel, to read itself, process the rich sum of information contained within the books and colored art drawings locked up in its pages. This is why when you lose consciousness due to trauma, anesthesia or certain phases of sleep; the Soul seems to ,,not exist ".  Have the Theologians ever wondered why? The consciousness is managed by SOUL. Actually, this is a SPACE-TIME whole, which exists in itself. Consciousness is like a projector illuminating a vast gallery, section by section, (i.e. moment by moment).  Imagine that this long corridor is full of pieces of furniture other objects, and that you advance slowly in the darkness with a weak lantern which only enables you to see a narrow ideal passage, i.e. gradually a section of this large corridor. The future is thus made up (the still-unexplored pieces of furniture in the corridor).  But from this we can deduce - if we take this metaphor or image literally - that the future is given, and that consequently we are deprived of freedom.
That is not the case.  The shape of this corridor, i.e. the sum of the conduits of Man, is a complex function that makes its own space-time structure. So that, considering our "me "as a long space-time tunnel, consciousness "illuminates "the successive sections of the tunnel.  We can imagine that this tunnel has many doors; each one represents the neurocaptor itself, during the successive instants.
Successive images enter through the door (doors over the course of time). Our brain progressively gathers visual perceptions.  Each day that passes, I see a new face, an object I had not seen before.  The gallery is growing rich with "objects ", with "pieces of furniture".
When a man with his lantern illuminates a section of the large tunnel (spatio-temporal man), he experiences not only the sight of the "piece of furniture" which has just entered by this door (perceived new image) but also, by means of a "mirror", MEMORY, the "pieces of furniture " which are BEHIND (never those in front: the future).
Consciousness is thus sequential, it progresses in time, and it is like a catholic rosary or a Hindu ,,japa, where the grains of prayer are shelled one by one. But one could object:  this is simple speculation.  My conscience dictates to me that I lived such facts without me seeing this gigantic CORRIDOR in front or behind me...
However this is not a question of a simple assumption.
A simple comparison will help: in a large garden there is a tunnel which curves, built entirely out of plastic or transparent glass, and throughout it are stored furniture, tools etc. This large tunnel represents the Four-dimensional man.
A man, (our conscience) runs from the beginning of this sinuous corridor.  It grows dark and he carries a lantern.  As he runs the objects on his path are illuminated, but also, as the walls are transparent, he can see some sections of the garden outside close to the wall.
At other times during his travels in the tunnel, he directs a pencil of light towards the outside where there are other tunnels with their pilgrims armed with lanterns, passing close to the garden. At his birth, the tunnel and the garden existed already.  When the traveler thinks that what he sees has just been created, or ceases to exist, or that the items he sees do not exist yet... it is not so. There are as many "CONCIENCIAS" (mental bodies!!!) joined together as there are humans, just as a pure carbon polyhedron generates multiple reflections.

What with all of the socializing, parties; lionizing, meetings and the hints of secret activity going on, it might seem as if no RESEARCH was getting done.
This was not the case at all. I was, and am, a workaholic, demanding perfection or at least the best possible -- as was Janet Mitchell, Dr. Schmeidler, and, in a somewhat lesser sense, Dr. Osis. And with a sort of renewed enthusiasm, we proceeded to produce experiments of several kinds at the ASPR.
In order to throw my weight around within my new-found glory, I suggested that we meet and TALK about what we were doing. Here was a subtle shift -- because experimenters typically DID NOT talk about experiments with subjects any more than experimenters would discuss experiments with rats or guinea pigs.
As I explained (and was also later to explain in far more impressive surroundings), it was one thing to set up experiments merely to see if certain phenomena existed.
But something else was involved IF researchers wanted performance from their subjects. How could a subject really attempt something if the subject had no idea of what was involved? Running a rat through an experiment designed to reward the rat with food if it did what was wanted -- well that was one kind of experiment.
Running a human being through an experiment designed only to please the experimenters' expectations, an experiment with NO reward for the human subject if it did what was wanted -- well, that was ANOTHER kind of experiment.
Rats and guinea pigs got food as a reward for succeeding. Human subjects got . . . (nothing, perhaps a brief word of praise). I suggested that subjects who succeeded should be given a one-carat diamond. THAT ought to inspire them.
But more seriously, because of my long-term studies of the literature, I had noted a definite lack of interest in what Psi perceptions consisted of.
After all, psychics do not utilize their physical eye mechanisms to see what they "see." In the first instance, it seemed that their "seeing" depended on mental image pictures, although many in the past had said that they didn't "see" anything, but merely "sensed" whatever they did.
Some said they "heard" whatever they "sensed" -- and not a few had said that the "information" came from their toes or armpits -- or some other unusual anatomical place or part.
Even in my own case regarding the formal eight out-of-body experiments the inner AS-PR clique tried to demolish, I didn't "see" all of the time. Sometimes I had clear, sharp mental image pictures, other times a preponderance of fleeting, non-visual "impressions." At other times all was foggy, or simply black, but with a sense of information "coming through" anyway.
One day after a particularly good result had been achieved, and before the ASPR feathers hit the fan, Dr. Osis had grown silent and pensive. He sat down and wound his legs together like two snakes, put his chin on his hand and looked at me with piercing eyes.
"I vonder, Eengo," he began, "vat ju use for eyes [pronounced `ice'] ven ju are OOB."
"Jes," I responded. "Zat's a very good question, eesn't it?"
We had not gotten around to going any further with this back then. But now, back in the saddle at the ASPR, I did decide that we should spend some time looking deeper into this. This activity would comprise part of the 50 percent time guaranteed to me under our new working arrangement.
I have already mentioned in an earlier chapter that Dr. Carole Silfen had been brought into the ASPR work. She was a perceptual psychologist, and so Janet and I met with her and handed over to her the guidelines for this type of thing.
Dr. Silfen was a small woman with fine black hair I remember as naturally curly. She had pale olive skin that came off as pallor and dressed in a way that was neither fashionable nor unfashionable.
She was delighted, saying "Mostly I'm asked to overview other people's ideas, and no one asks me for suggestions or creative guidance. Parapsychologists are not interested in the intricacies of perception."
To get into this, we decided first to meet several times to discuss the issues, and then to refine them until an experiment could be conceived and designed.
Thus, on several days, Silfen, Mitchell, and sometimes Schmeidler commandeered the big table in the library room and locked ourselves in and others out -- somewhat to the disapproving eyes of her rulership, Fanny Knipe. "It IS supposed to be open to the PUBLIC, you know."
But, bless her alligator heart, Fanny had begun to smile at me.
In the end, several complicated experiments were designed. But I will now single out one of them in detail -- because it was the mother lode of much of what was to come in the years ahead.
A written report of this experiment was produced on July 26, 1972, entitled "Report of an Out-of-Body Experiment Conducted at the American Society for Psychical Research: Participants: Dr. Carole Silfen, Janet Mitchell, and Ingo Swann."
The report was prepared "for record purposes only. For several reasons it cannot be considered a test-perfect experiment in the traditional sense of experimentation, and thus must be disqualified from that area of interest. From the study of the phenomenon, however, several important effects have become both visible and possibly measurable."
The report begins with an overview, called SITUATION 1.
"On the assumption that there is an out-of-body phenomenon at hand to be studied concerning discovery of characteristics of the phenomenon, it is to be assumed also that the point or vehicle of perception exterior to the body must assume, at different locations, the functions performed by the visual system and the brain in the body.
"Within the body/visual system it should be noted that the sense of vision is owing to the effect of light on the retina of the eye.
"Only vibrations [frequencies] of light over an extremely limited range of the electro-magnetic spectrum are capable of stimulating the human retina. The mechanism of sight depends upon rays of light reflecting from objects.
"These rays of light are bent by the cornea so as to fall on the retina. The brain interprets the size, shape and distance of the objects seen.
"One layer of the retina consists of rods and cones, connected with endings into the optic nerve. The perception of light depends on the rods, while color perception is considered a property of the cones.
"Assuming the possibility of perceiving exterior to the body at a distant location, the center of perception at the distant location would be compelled to somehow duplicate all the functions of the eye system, be able to properly select the appropriate light vibrations reflecting from objects, as well as performing the analytical functions of the brain in the correct interpretation of size, shape and distance of those objects thusly brought into view.
"The magnitude of the abilities desirable for such form of perceptions non-dependent on the visual/brain system, if they could be measurably indicated, would be by implication very impressive."
"SITUATION 2: In testing for the validity of such presumed out-of-body perception, it was felt necessary to design a test situation in which not only the target might be reported by the subject, but that the point of view at the proximity of the target might also be located by virtue of certain variables constructed within the target.
"A target situation was constructed which could be viewed from a multiple of points, yielding thereby possible differences of perception, construction, shape and form in the response of the subject to it.
"This situation can be better visualized in theory by imagining a person standing to the far right of a doorway. He would look through the doorway and view whatever could be seen on a direct line from where he was standing.
"However, if the viewer moved to the far left of the doorway, his direct line of vision would now be on a different line."
Description of the Experiment
"On July 26, 1972, Dr. Carole Silfen arrived with her new target device. Ingo Swann, the subject, was not permitted to see the contents of the box or the openings through which the targets were to be viewed. [The report shows a drawing of the device, a rather large black box with two openings and a light housing unit on top of it.]
"Ingo sat in a room adjoining both the EEG equipment chamber and the target room. He was connected to the EEG equipment with electrodes that are in turn attached through the wall to the EEG equipment. He was thus prevented movement during the experiment.
"The target box was then uncovered in the target chamber [another room.] Both the subject chamber and the target chamber were darkened. When all was ready, Ingo is assumed to have moved exterior to his body taking a position in front of the first target window. He endeavored to ascertain the target. His viewing of this target lasted 50 seconds.
"At this point Ingo and Dr. Silfen exchanged one or two comments about whether he should describe or draw the target. It was decided that he would draw it.
"He asked whether there was something red in the target, and Dr. Silfen replied that was correct. Ingo quickly sketched his perception of the target as he saw it through target window 1, and then went on to do the same with target window 2. At no time was Ingo disconnected from the EEG electrodes and vision between the subject and target chamber was impossible."
The APPARATUS and the STIMULI (i.e., the targets) are described in Appendix A to the report.
"APPARATUS: The rectangular viewing chamber was constructed of 1/2 inch plywood with outside measurements of 30 X 18 X 25 inches. The entire chamber was painted in flat black. The top of the chamber was removable, for easy access to stimulus arrangements. Mounted flush with the inside surface of the camber lid was a 9 & 1/2 inch milkglass surface rimmed with chrome, behind which was a lighting fixture, illuminated by a 100 Watt bulb.
"Two 6 inch square viewing windows were cut in the chamber. The front window was positioned 7 & 1/2 inches from the top of the chamber and 5 & 3/4 inches from the right side. The second window was cut in the left side of the box, positioned 7 & 1/2 inches from the top and 6 inches from the front.
"Three rows of 1/4 inch holes were drilled in the floor of the chamber, 6 inches, 12 inches and 18 inches respectively from the rear of the chamber. The stimuli were mounted in these holes in appropriate arrangement."
"THE STIMULI: Two stimulus arrangements were prepared, so that the views from each of the two windows would be entirely different.
"The stimulus arrangement for the front view consisted of three overlapping squares of different colors and sizes, arranged to give an illusion of depth. The square closest to the viewing window was painted red, and measured 5 inches square. It was positioned 5 & 1/2 inches from the right side of the chamber, 18 inches from the rear, and 11 & 1/2 from the floor, measured to the nearest surfaces.
"The second square [behind the red square] was painted yellow, and the third square [behind the yellow one] was green.
"The stimulus arrangement for the side view consisted of a black square with a white bulls-eye target measuring 3 & 3/4 inches in diameter. This target was mounted on the surface of the right [inner] side of the chamber. The black square appeared darker in hue than the black interior surface of the chamber."
Experiment Error
"It can be seen from the drawing of the experimental set up that should a viewer position himself directly in front of the [front] target opening, say about 1 foot back, he would naturally perceive three colored overlapping targets receding from the front.
"However, when the target box was set up, it was placed on two folding chairs, the back of the front chair obscuring nearly 50% of a direct frontal view of this target window. This was not noticed at the time."
Results
"A frontal view of [front] target 1 should have presented a series of receding, overlapping, colored squares. Ingo's drawing, however, shows only part of the front square denoted as red. This view was possible only from the lower left corner of the window. Ingo did not "see" the chair back inadvertently blocking the right half of the window. The photo taken after the experiment from the lower left corner of the window shows that only the red corner of the foremost target was visible, and Ingo's drawing conforms exactly to the photo taken from that viewpoint.
"In the case of the second [side window] target, it can be seen that Ingo adequately saw the rectangular opening of the target aperture, the structure to the left (which was the side of the red target), and the general location and shape of the black square bearing the three concentric white circles. As he indicates, `vision disappears' in relation to these three circles.
"Study of this target revealed that the black square and circles were painted with highly reflective gloss paint while the inside of the box was painted with a flat black paint. This created an extreme difference between light absorption and light reflection.
"Thus, as has been noticed in past experiments, the albedo content of this particular target might have obscured vision in this area. This, however, could be measured."
Concluding Observations
We all were excited by these results, of course, since it could now be shown that OOB vision DID assume a specific point with respect to the target materials, and that this specific point could be located by comparative analysis between the drawings and the targets.
In other words, the viewing of the targets WAS NOT going on within the subject's head or imagination.
The actual point of the viewing was quite near the targets themselves, while the physical body of the viewer was locked up in a room about fifty feet away from the target box.
The chair back blocking most of the front view was fortuitous. Without her knowing it, two lab helpers had placed Dr. Silfen's box on two folding chairs instead of a table. But Dr. Silfen KNEW that the target arrangement was supposed to consist of THREE colored targets. Neither Janet nor I knew anything about the box or targets in advance.
The chair back DID block a visual frontal view, and if I had reported three targets from that viewpoint, then a problem would have come up regarding getting the target "telepathically" from Silfen. Analysis of the experiment showed that I saw only a corner of the first target painted red -- and this eliminated explanation via telepathy.
With regard to the bulls-eye target, although I first reported the black square and three concentric circles, I then said, "vision disappears."
This has to do with intensity of albedo reflection of light, and which, if too strong, wipes out even eye vision. One literally cannot see something from which light is reflecting too strongly. One sees only the light, but vision of the object disappears. This is completely understood by perceptual researchers.
Drs. Silfen, Osis and Schmeidler were extremely excited by the results of this experiment -- for it was highly suggestive that indeed a point or vehicle of perception exterior to the body DOES assume "at a different location the functions performed by the visual system and the brain in the body."
The report's final comments stated: "Factors of light reflection, arc of measurement, size of target perceived in relation to point of perception, etc., suggest that for the first time out-of-body perception can be taken out of the realm of `claim' into the realms of physics and mathematics. It is hoped that this type of experiment will be replicated soon to support this first occurrence."
To put this into simple English:

(1) For a long time, science, psychologists, and even most parapsychologists held that nothing could leave the body -- and so whatever occurred as claimed out-of-body must be explainable via some internal psycho-mental mechanisms. It was for this reason that Dr. Osis had been given a very hard time regarding his OOB experiments -- since they were UNSCIENTIFIC within the prevailing science wisdom.

(2) Dr. Silfen had designed a very simple experimental set-up via which lines of perceptual sight could be measured as extending from a certain "point" which could be precisely located by the measurements. This simple experiment COULD HAVE BEEN done fifty years earlier, but no one had bothered to do so. Silfen's experiment gave evidence that "something" did leave the body and organize its perceptual self at a particular point of reference to the target. That "something" also moved its point of reference from window 1 to window 2.
NOW. Something additional must be explained. Back in 1972, the out-of-body experience DID NOT have the currency it was to have in later years, especially regarding death-bed and clinical death experiencing.
Dr. Osis had been the first exponent within parapsychology to study it in depth, first fully reporting his research in his 1961 book DEATHBED OBSERVATIONS BY PHYSICIANS AND NURSES.
This book launched a psycho-political resistance to Osis -- since his work moved much too close to the problems of the existence of the soul, reincarnation and true EXTRA-sensory experiencing that was not a mere figure of speech.
SCIENCE did not like any of these ideas, and so most parapsychologists petitioning to be received as scientists did not like them either.
In other words, Dr. Osis was doomed -- except for one important factor. This factor was the support of Chester F. Carlson, the American physicist who invented the Xerox process to become universally utilized and which made him multimillionaire. Carlson WAS interested in OOB and Dr. Osis's work.
Carlson died in 1968, but the continuing position of Osis as Director of Research at the ASPR was tied to the large endowment Carlson has set up for the ASPR. All those parapsychologists who became members of the ASPR board and who didn't like OOB stuff could only make life and research difficult for Osis -- but they couldn't get rid of him. However, within a few years, they drove him into early retirement.
THIS was the actual reason the ASPR publishing committee refused to publish his first OOB experiments that involved my humble self.
I, of course, had learned a bitter something along these lines. And so, after the Silfen experiment was done, I said: "OK, some science has been done. So let's now consider the psycho-political aspects."
"If you prepare an official report, then certain parapsychologists will begin tinkling in their pants again. Instead, let's prepare a very unofficial, groveling report and circulate it unofficially but widely -- and do this BEFORE the ASPR board is aware of it."
Everyone involved balked at this. So I drew rank on them. "Look, we can say that this experiment was done within the scope of the 50 percent time allotted to ME. Since we have progressed with this idea under that concept, then no parapsychologist will seriously consider anything that had any hint it was my idea to begin with."
Everyone still balked. "Then," I said, calmly, "I'm out here this time for good."
Everyone then agreed -- and thus it was done.
I designed the scheme for this covert distribution of information. The ASPR had, at that time, some 8,000 supporting members who paid annual dues at $15 per head. Five hundred of these received the Silfen-Mitchell report.
The subscribing members got very excited -- and demanded MORE research along these lines. Against this onslaught the obstinate members of the ASPR board could do nothing -- and MORE research was undertaken.
Well, after all it IS true that science is one thing, and that politicking, planning and plotting is another. The Chinese have an old proverb that goes something like "If water cannot get in one way, it will circulate and find another way to do so."
Dr. Silfen's experiment has always carried an additional luminosity to it, one that is completely lost in the history of remote viewing.
It was the break/make point between experiments that merely fiddled with phenomena and experiments attempting to discover PROCESS that might be involved.
After all, most people think Psi perceptions "just happen" without bothering to think about why and how they happen.

"In the current research on out-of-body experiences (part of the program undertaken within the scope of the expected James Kidd legacy), our central hypothesis is that a human being has an ecsomatic aspect [i.e., outside of the body aspect] capable of operating independently of and away from the physical body.

"This part of the personality may also be conceived of as leaving the body at death and continuing to exist. We want to combine all our information from OOBE, apparition cases and deathbed-observations experiences, to see whether this ecsomatic-existence hypothesis is strengthened by our new data and its theoretical integration.

"If the hypothesis indeed proves justified (in opposition to the counter-hypothesis that OOB consists only of ESP coupled with fantasies of traveling), we expect to arrive at something like Myers' concept of a phantasmogenic center which operates outside the body.

"This concept assumes that the center of the projection is capable of perceiving from the point of view of the location in space to which it has projected itself - rather than from the subject's actual eye-level.

"We have now contacted over 100 individuals who responded to our appeals for participants. Out-of-town subjects were invited to project themselves to my office and try to identify target objects arranged on a coffee table there. Several people obtained very encouraging results.

"Our major subject to date has been Ingo Swann, with whom Janet Mitchell has conducted exploratory sessions.

"The general procedure has been as follows: Mr. Swann sits quietly in a semi-dark experimental room, attached to a polygraph (in the adjoining room) which records data concerning his physiological state, i.e., brain waves (EEG), heart rate, respiration, etc.

"The targets are on a shelf suspended two feet from the ceiling of the experimental room. This shelf is divided by a partition, on each side of which is a tray containing an arrangement of target objects, placed so as to look distinctively different as seen, say, from the south or from the north.

"We used objects having strong form and color, e.g., an umbrella, a black leather scissors-case, an apple. We asked Mr. Swann to tell us the position from which he saw the objects. He gave us verbal descriptions of the targets, as well as sketches [i.e., the picture drawings]. We developed psychological scales for rating the quality and clarity (as subjectively described) of his OOB vision, which varied from time to time.

"The results were evaluated by blind judging: that is, a psychologist was asked to match up Mr. Swann's responses without knowing which target they were meant for.

"She correctly matched all the 8 [formal] sessions (the likelihood of getting 8 out of 8 by chance is 1 in approximately 40,000.

"PERCEPTION: Ingo Swann sometimes (though not always) was able to give very clear identifications, e.g., the shape of a black leather case on a red background, or a blue cross.

"His OOB perception was organized in much the same way as if he were indeed looking at the stimulus shelf from the point where he felt he had projected his spiritual self.

"So OOB vision seems in one respect at least to be more like normal vision than does ESP. Whereas the ESP processes mostly elude conscious awareness, OOB vision appears to be directly observable [by the subject]. For instance Mr. Swann was keenly aware of the lighting conditions in the stimulus area [referring to the burnt out light bulb.]

"Does OOB vision follow the laws of OPTICS? On the high self we arranged stimulus material (for example a small letter'd') inside a closed box with a small opening and a two-mirror system.

"We wanted to see whether in the OOB state Mr. Swann could see the target through the opening, as he would normally see it from that point (as reflected via the mirror), or whether he would see it directly by clairvoyance, without using the mirrored image.

"On the basis of our [successful] preliminary results, we are now developing sophisticated optical systems for testing the ecsomatic hypothesis of OOBE. Several physicists, engineers and psychologists are enthusiastically cooperating [names given at the end of this longish quote.]

"PHYSIOLOGY: What is happening to Ingo Swann's body at the times when he feels his spiritual self to be somewhere else? We have accumulated a considerable mass of physiological records, now in process of analysis.

"The autonomic nervous system responses seem quite within normal range, indicating that there is no danger to the organism during OOB states.

"Mr. Swann was also given biofeedback training for the slower brain-wave frequencies (alpha and theta). He identified these states and after a while could reproduce them at will.

"Until our analysis is complete, we can say nothing definite about brain-wave activity during the OOBE, but the voltage changes do appear to be important."

Make the so called TORSIONAL PENDULUM. Use spider or silk wire.  Note- the sensitivity of torsional pendulum is ultra high. Not only this. The torsional pendulum represents certain real receiver of subtle energies. Otherwise the question rises- why move “from astral” a bottle, why not a whole truck??? At least the aim is a real result, not failure.  :violin:

OK, let us repeat. An excellent achievement of Olaf Blanke is that he fixed the EXACT position of  epileptic focus by some patients what excludes certain popular confusion and misunderstanding. OK, what we see by some patients? Epileptic focus exactly in TPJ- accurate inhibition of TPJ- pure and accurate experience EVERY TIME and nothing else, if  also one person (from Blanke's patients) was prevalently drifted to somewhere in Earth orbit we must not forget she's fright and absolute subjective passivity. What criteria of  authenticity of experience do you have, "triggered" or not? For example a few clairvoyants say that  "subtle bodies" creep out from physical body and go away for example 2 km or some kind of apparatus shows the same. There you have your objective criteria in sense of outer empiricism of natural sciences, that's all. "Triggering" doesn't necessary mean that you have hallucinations, consciousness is not the same as brain currents!!!!!!! And "bizarre illusions" are not an objective criteria of authenticity. I think the "projecting entity" may lie in different states of consciousness. Simple but also confusing for so many people!!! Lack of  "official" experiments in sense of OBE induction. It is a bit naive to expect such experiments. Olaf Blanke accidentally has carried out 1 experiment, but  nevertheless the electrical current was a bit insufficient, we must not forget the very strict brain stimulation guidelines. Nobody will even dare to undertake such experiments, I mean "officially", academically "seriously", etc., it is clear. Some kind of result was obtained accidentally. Also by TMS brain research...statistically some of  experimental subjects are familiar with OBEs and these people sometimes are screaming- "what is this- initial OBE symptoms?". :heh:

The reductionistic fallacy is common in science, medical science and psychology. It implies implicit “nothing but” in front of some physical relation, with an assumed purely physical hierarchy of sciences. Psychologically, we frequently learn we are nothing but stimulus-response and maybe organism, and that everything can be explained in our brains, genes and bodies. This is currently the default worldview of most scientists.
In this instance, the media particularly has jumped onto- that OBEs can be fully „explained” purely on the basis of stimulating a specific area of the brain. Materialist denies that there is any phenomenon that needs explaining, over and above explaining the various functions: once we have explained how the functions are performed, we have thereby explained everything. Sometimes materialism is expressed by denying that consciousness exists; more often, it is expressed by claiming that consciousness may exist, but only if the term "consciousness" is defined as something like "reportability", or some other functional capacity. Either way, it is asserted that there is no interesting fact about the mind, conceptually distinct from the functional facts. Once we have explained how the functions are performed, that is that. Note that materialism is not merely the view that consciousness is identical to some function, or that it plays a functional role, or that explaining the functions will help us explain consciousness. It is the much stronger view that there is not even a distinct question of consciousness: once we know about the functions that a system performs, we thereby know everything interesting there is to know.Our wish to develop a scientific understanding of consciousness has brought us to a conceptual abyss that we can't span until we develop a new paradigm and new scientific methodologies. The materialist critics argue that insuperable difficulties are encountered by the hypothesis that immaterial mental events can act in any way on material structures such as neurons. Such a presumed action is alleged to be incompatible with the conservation laws of physics, in particular of the first law of thermodynamics. :violin:  This objection would certainly be sustained by nineteenth century physicists. See Olaf Blankes attempts to declare OBE for identical with multisensory illusions of the entire body related to a failure of integration of proprioceptive, tactile, and visual information of one's body (personal space). A little nightmare for reductionistic approach- overlapping from micropsia (failure...) with partial  „astral senses”, in certain conditions naturally.
 But further „More recently, the importance of vestibular and multisensory mechanisms in out of body experiences was underlined by their occurrence in several patients with such experiences. In addition, vestibular illusions (of elevation, rotation, flying, lightness) and multisensory illusions (of visual limb shortening and movement) could be evoked by electrical stimulation of the same cortical area where higher stimulation currents induced out of body experiences. These data indicate that vestibular illusions, multisensory illusions of body parts (such as visual shortening and movement of limbs and phantom limbs), and multisensory illusions of the entire body (such as out of body experiences) might share similar functional and anatomical mechanisms. Devinsky et al described several patients with out of body experiences caused by circumscribed brain damage and found that lesions predominantly affected the temporal lobe. More recently, our team analysed the lesions of several patients with out of body experiences and found that the temporo-parietal junction was affected in all patients. These patients had epilepsy and migraine. On the basis of these findings, our team proposed a cognitive model for out of body experiences, proposing that they are related to a failure of integration of proprioceptive, tactile, and visual information of one's body (personal space). This may lead to the experience of seeing one's body in a position (that is, on the bed) that does not coincide with the felt position of one's body (that is, under the ceiling). In this model disembodiment and elevated visuospatial perspective during out of body experiences are assumed to be related to additional vestibular dysfunction. Mathematical Transformations.
The equations of Schrodinger and Dirac, well known in quantum physics, describe the laws of the conservation of probability for fluxes of matter at the level of elementary particles of the microworld. By means of certain mathematical transformations Dr. Iskakov obtained equivalent equations of a much broader applicability. They describe the laws of the conservation of probability for fluxes of matter, energy, and information. The equations have a deep philosophical meaning, which extends far beyond the interpretation of the Schrodinger and Dirac equations. An appropriate name for them is, in my view, suggested by a doctrine of Oriental philosophy--karma. In a narrow sense, it claims that every deed or thought, good or bad, receives due reward or retribution. In a broader sense, it denotes the principle of unity, integrity, and inter-conditionality and causality in the Universe. That is how I construe the term "equations of karma", which describe any cause-and-effect relationship.
What Is The "Equation Of Karma"?
The study of psychic phenomena dictated the need to define the concept of the information-energy field. Its material medium, according to contemporary notions, may be a global lepton gas, consisting of extremely light particles, microleptons, with a mass of 10^-40 - 10^-30 g. Microleptons are much lighter than electrons and are capable of freely penetrating any body in the Universe. The gaps between atomic nuclei are for them just as spacious as are the holes in a fishing net for molecules of air.
The idea of a microlepton gas appears to echo the 19th-century notion of the universal ether, but is scientifically much more complex and profound. What we are talking about in this case is no longer an ideal space-pervading fluid, but a quantum-granular structure of the space-time continuum, filled with whirling streams of polarized microleptons (including some virtually vacuum-born).
Such an approach enables us to use the mathematical apparatus of quantum mechanics to describe the information-energy field. Moreover, relationships of a higher level of generalization are derived than the classical equations of Schrodinger. The new equations describe not only the movements of matter, but also the development of the totality of interconnections, signals, events, and processes. The special term introduced for such relationships is "equations of karma". As for karma, it is understood to mean a broad philosophical category of universal inter-conditionality, causality, and dependence in combination with the principle of the unity and integrity of the Universe. There are two equations of karma--the direct and the complex-conjugated:

Here Y denotes the probability density wave (the wave function); V, the Laplace operator; 9, the potential energy density, and h, Planck's constant.
These equations may be solved in the form of karma waves and anti-waves with quantization of probability waves. Connected with them are perturbations of the information-energy field, i.e., wave signals. In principle, such signals may propagate faster than light.
The equations of karma make it possible to draw certain philosophical conclusions of fundamental significance. It follows from them that diffraction takes place not only in space but also in time. Any event is, so to speak, split in space-time. The propagation of a solitary signal is preceded by a series of pre- signals and followed by post-signals, both fading with distance. Perceptive analysts are able to use the first intimations of pre-signals to give a precise picture of a coming event. This is called scientific foresight. But there is also intuitive prevision. Centuries ago clairvoyants described events that are happening in our time.
Pre-signals provide an explanation of relative proscopy--when a sensitive person learns about an event before others do. Such a person detects faint pre-signals that most people do not perceive.
For instance, an explosion on the Sun may produce solar prominences extending for millions of kilometers. Two or three days later the "solar wind" reaches the Earth, causing powerful geomagnetic storms that affect everything living. During such periods, disease and mortality rates increase in all countries.
This dependence of everything living upon solar catastrophes was proved several decades ago by Alexander Chizhevsky. Can we learn of the approaching "solar winds" in advance? It appears that we can. The solar wind has presignals: swift streams of solar photons an neutrinos, which reach the Earth in eight minutes. By detecting them it is possible to warn the medical services of all countries of an imminent geomagnetic storm two or three days in advance, ample time to take the necessary measures.
From the theoretical standpoint the works of the eminent Russian researcher Anatoly Okhatrin are of definite interest. They confirm the idea of an ether or universal lepton gas, which contains full information about the material world. Clusters of the lightest particles--microleptons--carry people's thoughts and feelings; these microleptons are capable of travelling in space and time at tremendous speeds.
The speed of light is a limiting factor only for a continuous stream of speeds, the so-called continuum. However, greater speed levels, in excess of the speed of light, are possible for extremely weak signals.
Okhatrin's experiments and calculations show that people's thoughts are carried by the lightest microleptons. And the equations of karma prove that they can travel much faster than light. This justifies the conclusion that humanity's potential in getting to understarnd the Universe is practically boundless.
Up to now it was considered that our potential in the conquest of outer space is limited by what is known as the pessimistic radius of Poincare-Einstein. If we multiply the speed of light by the human life span, we arrive at the limit that even the most sophisticated spaceships cannot surpass. No generation of spacemen can explore the Universe beyond that radius [it says].
But from the equations of karma it follows that at the level of extremely weak signals we can reach out far beyond the Poincare- Einstein sphere. Material thought can travel to distant regions of the Universe at a speed greater than that of light. Man can obtain information about what is happening at any distance from him. This is a fundamental philosophical conclusion that allows humanity to look to the future with optimism.
I arrived at this conclusion by considering the equations of karma. But then, many scientists before me have reflected on the synthesis of science and religion, among them the founders of quantum physics. What are termed the conjugated equations of Schrodinger and Dirac point to the possibility of the existence of anti-particles. Similarly, the conjugated equation of karma suggests that there can be anti-signals as well as anti-particles. More- over, this equation makes it possible to describe the spectrum of properties that these anti-signals possess. While ordinary signals travel along the river of time from the past via the present into the future, anti-signals travel in the opposite direction. They originate in the future and pass through the present into the past. This property of anti-signals stuns our imagination: certain particularly sensitive people and instruments can, it turns out, receive signals from the future.
Previsions, predictions, and prophesies come under the scientific heading of absolute proscopy, which implies the acquisition of information about events that have not yet taken place. They have yet to occur, but sensitives already know about them.
The problem is merely one of the threshold of sensitivity and the balance of signals and noise. Anti-signals come from the future at a faint and very faint level. Very few people can detect them.
There is no violation here of the principle of causality. Rather, its interpretation becomes more sophisticated and more refined dialectically. According to the equations of karma, time in the microworld can reverse its direction, turning, as it were, into "anti time". From a single point it is possible to see both the past and the future of microparticles at the same time.
We can receive information about the future only at the probability level. Only the strategic parameters of a human fate are pre-determined. But freedom of choice too is preserved: a person is free to take any decisions and bears full responsibility for them. A person shapes his or her destiny and pays for the consequences of those decisions. Thus, there is a predetermined part of the future, which a person cannot change, and there is a probable or variable part, for which he is responsible.
Solving stationary equations can yield curious results. Waves emitted and absorbed by hundreds of biologically active points are superimposed on one another and form a series of standing waves, which surround the human body. The body turns out to be nothing more than a dense nucleus shrouded on all sides by a number of energy-information holograms. The shape of the first hologram follows that of the human body, but is enlarged and rounded, remotely resembling a spacesuit. Actually, this hologram contains all the information about the body and is carried by microleptons orbiting along the quantum shell, the boundary of the first hologram. The second hologram and its shell are larger and carry weakened information, which is more difficult to decipher. The same may be said of the third and subsequent shells. The more remote shells are more rounded in shape, changing from a spacesuit to an egg and then to a sphere. Our atomic-molecular body is "clad" in microlepton holograms, each of which carries complete but weakened information about the person, including his or her innermost thoughts and feelings, his or her mind and conscience. It may be said that the sum-total of these holograms is nothing short of a person's lepton soul.
Ordinarily, people do not see the energy-information shells that surround them. But in certain conditions it is possible to make the first hologram glow, especially the part of it surrounding a person's head. The fact is that upper chakras, the most power-intensive, operate at the highest frequencies. Some people have a first quantum shell that can become visible.
Estimates show that the energy of the first shell amounts to fractions of an electron-volt. This is quite enough for a faint glow in the optical range of the spectrum. But for the glow to become a reality a great deal of energy has to be pumped into the upper chakras. This means a person has to adopt a definite mode of life: overcome base passions, and make his or her thoughts, feelings, and deeds pure, lofty and inspired. It is in that case that the energy of the upper chakras causes the excitation of the first shell by fractions of an electron-volt, and a halo visible to other people appears around the head of such a person (for example, a saint).
In Christian art, only part of the hologram around the head is usually portrayed as glowing. But in Buddhist temples, there are pictures showing the whole spacesuit-shaped hologram aglow.
The most ancient Buddhist manuscripts speak of a person's seven bodies: one dense and six subtle. The first hologram is called the ethereal body; the second, the astral body; the third, the mental body, and so forth. The lepton hypothesis allows a larger number of holograms.
Judging from the equations of karma, we humans are infinitely "larger" and our lives are infinitely longer than we are accustomed to think. This means that each person is a factor of Cosmic significance.
Moreover, analysis reveals that inanimate objects as well as Homo Sapiens and other living beings have holograms of this kind.
Consider the implications of this. If each body is present, at the information level, throughout the Cosmos, then in every small region of space-time there must be, if only super-weak, information about the entire Universe.
Gautama Buddha's famous dictum states "everything is in everything" and, hence, "everything is in the small." In an expanded form this may be taken to mean that every point of space-time "knows" everything about all the other points.
But if every zone of space "knows" everything, it is a most complete encyclopaedia, in infinite storage of knowledge about the Universe . All that is needed is to learn how to plug into this source of information, which can tell a person about anything and everything in the world.
It follows from the lepton hypothesis that the soul is real and material. A human being, in the customary sense of the term, is nothing but a dense nucleus around which streams of leptons circulate. The totality of lepton shells is a cold bioplasma, which contains complete information about the nucleus. Thus, it can be termed a person's lepton soul. This notion has a quite precise materialistic content.
According to the lepton concept, thoughts and feelings are material. They are carried by superweak pulses of electromagnetic and microlepton fields. Visual, audible, and other images, and all thoughts and feelings, exist in the form of clusters of superlight elementary particles. This brings to mind Plato's inspired guess that all eidoses, i.e., ideas or thoughts, exist autonomously, "float in the air" and recognize no boundaries.
Plato intuitively arrived at that conclusion over two thousand years ago. Today we can put this into the language of mathematical formulae. We can measure the mass of a single human thought. Its weight varies from 10^-30 to 10^-40 g. To be sure, the opinion of sensitives and Okhatrin's experiments cannot serve as proof. Similar investigations have to be carried out at other laboratories. This will furnish the statistical data for reliable conclusions. If they confirm Okhatrin's findings, he will become the author of the greatest discovery of the latter half of the 20th century.
Thoughts and feelings generated by human beings begin their independent existence in space and time. Both theory and experiments show that these eidoses are capable of exchanging information. What is most important of all is that one person's thoughts can occur to other people. Eidoses are like small living beings, but at the lepton level of matter. Thoughts and feelings are our offspring, who communicate with one another and with us in a language of super-weak signals.
Estimates show that during a lifetime a person generates millions and even billions of eidoses. This makes it clear that we bear an enormous responsibility before the whole of humankind and before ourselves for what our offspring, i.e., our thoughts and feelings, will be like.
When our offspring are noble eidoses of kindness, love, mercy, mutual assistance, truth, beauty, and harmony, we contribute to the health of humanity's leptonosphere. But when we beget malformed eidoses, i.e., evil, envious, cowardly, vain, and arrogant thoughts and feelings, we thereby pollute the leptonosphere we inhabit. Should the negative eidoses exceed a certain critical mass, humankind will be doomed. At present our survival depends to a great extent on the ecology of the spirit.
Here we also come up against a legal problem. Mere criminal intent is not yet a crime at the atomic-molecular level, but when a person conceives, say, a murder, he or she spawns criminal eidoses, which contaminate humankind's leptonosphere.
That is why when someone steers a nation or country onto a road leading to disaster, that person commits the gravest offence above all against the whole of humanity. Although economic and political catastrophe is still many years off, it has already taken place at the lepton level, in the public mind. The collapse of a vast State can contaminate humanity's leptonosphere to such a degree that humanity's very existence becomes threatened. And no clan, no state, nor coalition that conceived such a crime against other nations can survive.
The lepton hypothesis can provide a scientific explanation of the essence of God. When congregations gather in their temples, they create eidoses of prayer, which assemble into a collective egregor-eidos of a deity. When millions of people worship it, the material deity eidos acquires tremendous energy at the lepton level of matter. There arises feedback: a believer not only supplies the deity with energy, but receives genuine assistance from it upon supplication. There exist eidoses of Christ, Buddha, and Allah, and they actually interact with their Worshippers when the latter tune into the proper frequencies. This is something like a deposit in a savings bank--it helps the client at at a time of need. The microlepton "savings bank" is not responsible for other banks' clients: there is no resonance correspondence between them. Alien gods hold no power over a flock--only their own God has such powers.
Gods, thus, actually exist at the lepton level of matter. In fact, the world religions describe different aspects of one and the same Supreme Rational Being. All the people of the Earth worship a single God, but in His multiple manifestations.
After the death of a person's atomic-molecular nucleus, his or her lepton holograms may take different courses. Some of them may likewise disintegrate. But this happens only to the holograms that are made up of the heavier microleptons. Estimates show that the relatively heavy holograms have a natural half-life of seven to nine days; their ninety-nine percent decay takes about forty days.
Thus, the meaning of the funeral repast on the 9th and the 40th day (in accordarnce with the Orthodox faith) is that the living emit eidoses that recharge the dead person's soul with energy and information to help it undergo the necessary changes in the lepton world. Thanks to these rites, relatively heavy lepton holograms can survive much longer. A reliable supply of living people's thoughts and feelings can extend the life span of the heavy fractions of a dead person's soul from forty days to several millennia. As long as a person is remembered and his or her days of birth and death are observed, that person's soul is preserved almost intact, just as it was when the person was alive. One can communicate with it by means of special techniques known to mystics.
The soul also has medium and light fractions. We cannot yet verify this experimentally, but there is reason to think that their half-lives and total decay periods are much longer than those of the heavy fractions. It is even quite possible that the lightest fractions live eternally--the soul is immortal according to all the world religions. So far science cannot confirm or deny this in strict terms. This problem remains unsolved and requires an experimental solution.

(Hatonn's comments) The next most logical question might well be , "Isn't there any way to measure this lepton energy or aura?" Yes indeed and again the only ALLOWED presentation comes silently from Russia. There are two scientists--the engineer and inventor Uri Kravchenko and the physician Nikolai Kalashchenko--who have developed an original instrument: the phase aurometer. This is a highly sensitive instrument for the remote measurement of the electromagnetic radiation of any object, biological included. A Certificate of Authorship issued in 1990 protects the instrument and the method. This is an easy-to-prove concept and because of this implication I will not introduce much about it other than generalities about which much has been shared. This is something which Dr. Young has already devised though he doesn't recognize it as this and I would think would remind our own "thinkerers" that this is nothing more than a measuring device or a production device for electro-magnetic fields MEASURED IN HERTZ.
The particular phase aurometer in point is only for measurement or recordimhg a "patient's" own radiation by a contact-free method and has no impact whatever on the environment. BEC media posited for consciousness

Assuming a material world, the non-local properties of consciousness  suggest that it must exist in a macroscopic coherent quantum medium, called a Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) that is meters in extent and perhaps global. Known BECs such as super-fluids and superconductors only exist near absolute zero. To explain consciousness the BEC medium must exist at room temperature.

The presumption of a BEC medium to explain our visible, waking or physical consciousness underlies both the early Frolich/Marshall (where the medium is a coherent field of membrane dipoles) and the more recent Penrose/Hameroff microtubule-medium model. Both models require metabolic excitation to a state of thermodynamic non-equilibrium (see Hagan, QM2003), consistent with a physical consciousness that can turn off and turn on, as in sleeping and waking.

Some such model is perhaps the best explanation of waking consciousness. However, such models are local in nature, confined to the human brain and probably even microscopic aspects of the brain. Because of the non-local nature of some forms of consciousness, another medium is needed, one that might even explain consciousness in the sleep state. A secondary medium would also serve to integrate the perhaps microscopic processes of physical consciousness.

Cosmic Axions

Cosmic Axions were generated in the Big Bang. They differ from all other Dark Matter candidates in that they were (presumably) created in primordial symmetry breaking processes. All the other candidates were created in thermal processes and have thermal velocities, including the thermal axions presently being created in the sun. Cosmic axions are then unique in that they essentially are fixed in space. They seemingly have no inherent initial motion or momentum. They are at or very close to the temperature of absolute zero.

They are therefore referred to as cold dark matter and are often called the cosmic axion field, a coherent Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) that surrounds and permeates galaxies. Superconductors and superfluids like Helium at near absolute zero are also BECs. At these temperatures electron or atom wave functions have macroscopic (millimeter+) extension. As wave function extent depends inversely on the mass of the particle, and the mass of an axion is one billionth that of an electron, the axion wave function extends well beyond the earth. The axion fluid must then be a BEC at room temperatures, and perhaps even at solar temperatures. If the scaling to infinitesimal mass holds up, thermal as well as cosmic axions behave coherently over global scales.

Yet they are extremely numerous. If they are a major constituent of dark matter, there must be more than a 10 trillion axions for every proton and neutron in the universe. If the symmetry breaking process produced cosmic axions before matter and anti-matter recombined, then the number of axions is comparable to the number of photons in the universe.

According to physicist John Cramer, "Axions have a geometrical resemblance to an electric and a magnetic field oriented parallel to each other. In theory, this property can be exploited to convert axions into photons (radio/light/gamma-rays) through the use of intense electric and/or magnetic fields. If cosmic axions were converted to photons, their estimated mass-energy would make electromagnetic microwaves like those used in home microwave ovens.”

I don't understand why so many people thinks the metastable symbiosis from subtle bodies with physical  body is guarantied "simply so", without any energy-informative cause. You self "produces" because at certain moment you can produce because certain "astral hold" is switched down. Imagine a metastable symbiosis from dog with kennel guarantied by dog-collar. Certain factor for example machine removes the dog-collar. But further experience (of dog) the dog "produces" self, not the kennel, not the dog-collar and not the machine, because now he can produce this other experience because the dog-collar is removed. :surprise:

May be you will have something similar. Bipolar transverse montage showing the transition from the interictal spike activity to the right parietotemporal seizure. The seizure starts with an arousal (2) followed by a focal flattering in the region coexisting with an initially preserved left alfa activity. Electromyogram artifacts are related to a tonic bilateral posturing (4). After this concrete seizure the OBE experience occurred. Vibrations firstly are (micro) seizures in electrically unstable parts of cortex (with ensuing inhibition in the ,,exact" part). A little collection of somatosensory and auditory hallucinations (vibrations)...for all that seizures, if also without brain pathology!!! Seizures touch the motor cortex and there you have "vibrations". It exist people whose brains are prone to membrane fusion and to recurrent low-level epileptogene foci!!! What is essential? Not the ,,vibrations" as such but the ensuing inhibition of brain activity, getting dark, in angular gyrus-superior posterior temporal gyrus. Here another example of EEG during OBE.Ok, we have certain inhibition in this region- ,,Prolonged cortical silent period". We speak rather about electrical, cellular working-out and temporary getting-dark in TPJ, than instantaneous electrical jamming as in Blankes experiment. Interestingly, such a trick- rapid and sufficient inhibition of TPJ gives temporary switching down of this horrible computer- computer guarantying metastable symbiosis (or reincarnational ontogenesis) of "subtle" bodies with physical body. If seriously we must suppose a chain of events, not simply inhibition of TPJ, incl. certain changes in bio-energetics- not forget about the brain meridians, etc. Really a temporary switching down regardless what is happening further in TPJ. Obviously, the abovementioned computer is more fundamental than brain; patient with permanent lesion in TPJ (lack of part) may think the doorknob is part of body, etc. etc, the angular gyrus is a complex part of the brain, responsible for things like body and space awareness, and logical sequencing, if something is awry there, a patient might put on his pants first, and then his underwear, and not understand that there's a problem, or the patient might feel like a hand or arm is not connected to the rest of the body, and he can't make it function, but we see not the slightest facilitation of OBEs. The same for ultra-rare cases of no-brainers. It may seem that this confirms the thesis so loved by professional skeptics- "all in brain...all in brain, etc." But this is not so. Simply certain "hold" is switched down. A bit paradoxically- vibrations are hallucinations, but OBEs are not. Some unknown examples. And the letter from Saint Petersburg, signed by the head of studies of Institute of human brain of the Russian academy of Sciences, the head of Laboratory of neurophysiology of thought processes, creativity and consciousness, the academician of Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Nathalie Petrovna Bekhtereva has not kept itself waiting. And, certainly, we hope on continuation of dialogue.
The modern physics is practically finished, with exception of two little clouds nothing will sadden its horizon - approximately so has been told by the top scientific authority lord Calvin on boundary of XIX and XX centuries. At the end of XX century many physicists represent the opinion, that the building of physics is constructed almost up to the end, with exception of certain marginal problems. Perhaps, for this reason some from them have taken the right and honorary duties of censorship from science - began ,,to check on correctness ,,hypotheses from different areas of  knowledge.
As reason for this letter served fragments from statement of chairman of the Commission for struggle against pseudo-science academician Krugljakov at session of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (where, by the way, he has been seriously criticized) published in ,,the Russian scientific newspaper ". The academician – physicist considers itself for qualified to categorically criticize a physiological article. We shall notice: published not somewhere, but in šeer reviewed magazine of Russian Academy of Sciences ,,Human physiology " – the article has past all procedures appropriate in such cases.
That publication has really been devoted to research of rather unusual phenomenon. Several years ago in Institute of human brain of the Russian Academy of Sciences people claiming the ability to see with closed eyes have addressed. And not only one person, but a group of youth, and as affirmed it was possible to master these skills. Certainly, it would be the easiest way to answer, that we are engaged in serious scientific problems and we are not interested in laymans.
However long-term experience in studying human brain has taught us to respect its capabilities.
Our team already more than fifty years studies extremely complex and fascinating problem - the organization of supreme functions of a healthy and unhealthy human brain. We research, what occurs in a human brain by perception and pronouncing of words, by various thought processes.
We investigate interaction of emotions and thinking, we try to understand, how the brain perceives pain and parts where illusions are formed...
This fundamental knowledge allows us to develop new, hi-tech methods of treatment. We cooperate with various scientific institutes. Our works are widely known and published in domestic and foreign peer rewieved magazines. On this way it was revealed a lot of interesting things including such, that not at once was accepted by scientific community. But all the same it was accepted. Therefore it is quite natural, that to us people with daring ideas and offers quite often address. From them we check some.
So was in the abovementioned case. We have invited guys and have asked them to execute the tasks developed by us.
I shall not describe all details - interested persons can find them in the abovementioned scientific article. Result: 100 percent of right answers! :thumbsup: Thus, we have established that the phenomenon exists, and though much still remains not clear, it is interesting to be engaged in it and it should be investigated.
Naturally, so far as the certain scientific research has been done, we have directed its description and conclusions to media. The article as whole has been easy accepted by physiologists, but has done a lot of noise in other areas of science. I think, the calmness of physiologists spokes that, first, they by virtue of the profession faithfully consider the opportunities of human brain, and second, similar things already and earlier were described.
For example, still Helmholtz introduced the concept of color temperature, and it has been shown, that there are people which see with fingers due to change of color temperature. About "blindsight" has been written in sixties. Academician B.P.Konstantinov has organized then in Phystech a group on research of this phenomenon. Scientists have found out nothing, however, as the head of this group told, Konstantin itself in the meantime has learned to distinguish dominoes knuckles from the opposite side.
The present phenomenon has been checked up seriously by us in the conditions completely excluding an opportunity of trivial peeping. If it has not been made, there would be no further researches and articles. ,,Preliminary assumptions ,,what so irritate academician Krugljakov, concerns the understanding of physiological meaning of phenomenon. It is known, that not all existing phenomena give us an explication that quite often does not prevent their practical application. However thoughts about the possible (probable) explications, made as assumptions, are quite allowable in experimental work. It is interesting as alternative vision but if it is something other, it too is interesting. It is important also, that children with serious defects of vision saw in the alternative way better, than "directly". Perhaps, it will give chance to help visually impaired. But how to realize it? If pilot research can be executed ,,off the cuff " and on pure enthusiasm, the organization of serious works needs special financing.
The air has begun to smell of money (unfortunately, not for us). It was enough for interest on the part of the Commission of pseudo-science. The criticism also began. Academician Krugljakov edits the story, and it becomes simple "horror story". Here are present distorting and direct lies. You must not know the history of my family (let alone the text of the letter so not liked by the head of the commission) to imagine, how I ,,actively suggest ,,to work with secret services. Other suspicion – on misappropriation of budgetary funds by us - besides does not meet the validity that financial documents prove.
We see in article also a direct insult. The team of authors including members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, members of the international academies and societies, is ranked as ,,pseudo-scientific sharpers " and "speculators". I want to notice, that insults begin when emotions take over reason or when there are no arguments. Basically it can serve as an occasion for trial in court, but I at all do not want to go deep into legal aspects of the affair. :naughty:  Much more important for me is conservation of the intra-academic ethics. All of us belong to unique community what the Russian academy of sciences is, that imposes serious obligations on each of us. And smallest of them is the respect to each other and work of colleagues.
And in the end small deviation, some words about my area of a science which I indefinitely love also to which I have devoted all my life. It is known, that in due time set of theories of the greatest physicists appeared insolvent and has been denied in process of development of science. However without these errors which nevertheless were seriously enough discussed, the modern building of physics would not be constructed. Now the science actively investigates other limiting condition of matter: extremely complex community of huge number of cooperating objects, each of which has the most complicated structure. It is human brain, in which about 10 billion neurons!
There are not yet only any theories, but also any plausible hypothesis how the complete brain works. Yes, we already know much about details of its work. But the complete mosaic is far from end. One of examples: nerve cell generates pulses with frequency about (near) 20 in a second. Speed of interaction - milliseconds. So such slow system provides with that image such huge speed of processing of the information? Most likely, such complication of object should inevitable lead to occurrence of new properties.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                We do not know limits and opportunities of brain; we do not know also how physical laws with reference to such difficult matter are modified. Therefore if there is something not clear, it is necessary for investigating. There are no aprioristic criteria of correctness or abnormality of a hypothesis or experiment. New theories, daring ideas and non-standard experiments are necessary for understanding of principles underlying brain functioning, certainly, alongside with systematic, so-called routine work. The scientist, who has reached a certain level, should have the right, also opportunity to carry out research in the direction chosen by him even if it is far from seeming to be perspective and correct. I. Sensitivity of a phantom. II-. His action on witnesses. — III. His action on screens with sulphurous calcium.

Clairvoyants see the (etheric) phantom, all the more strongly and developed their clairvoyance ability is. Strong clairvoyants perfectly see him, distinguish his features, movements, and efforts, even changes in appearance. The phantom shines with very bright light, which covers almost all room, with distinctive colors, blue on the right side, orange on left. Average force clairvoyants see him as incomplete human form; he is brilliant, but color shades are hardly appreciable. Weak clairvoyants see only foggy form, albesent or grayish. Many witnesses, not clairvoyants, meet both frequently appearing and disappearing light and light jets, which, by words of clairvoyants, the phantom emits. But there are witnesses who positively see nothing and always would doubt at the presence of a phantom of place really occupied by him, if there were not the possibility of an objective check. It exist a lot of these ways; I shall state some.
I. — Sensitivity of phantom. — In the second chapter it has been told, that the phantom is extremely sensitive also; the slightest touch is reflected in the (physical) subject, sometimes even rather painful (unhealthy). This sensitivity enables to check up always, whether there is a phantom where he should be.
Let's assume that by sufficient illumination a well condensed phantom sits in an armchair put for him on the left side of the subject.
If we approach too close to armchair, it is possible to touch his leg(foot), to step  him on legs(foots) and to cause bigger or smaller pain which is reflected in the subject, who selects legs(foots), worries and complains. Stretching a hand to the top part of phantom body, make the same action on the subject. If we cautiously lead a hand around of phantom, it is possible to determine the place occupied by him. In darkness it is necessary to only hold the subject by hand and you will feel his concussion at each touch to a phantom. Acting thus, it is possible to check up always, whether really there is a phantom in that place where it has been sent?
It happens sometimes, that a phantom goes far away. If it is impossible to know exact place where it has left- it is always possible to find out the direction to this place on sensitivity of the cord connecting him with the subject. You place yourself near the subject, cautiously lifting and lowering the extended hand, on this or that point of space it is possible to touch a cord and the unpleasant sensation of this touch will be felt by the subject. The direction of a cord will show, on what side there is a phantom.
II. — Action of a phantom on witnesses. — When witnesses approach to a phantom or he approaches to witnesses, 9 from 10 persons feel his presence by sensation of freshness which covers them and soon disappears after his departure. The same people clearly feel something like a whiff, a little bit similar to as what you feel in front of electrostatic machine in movement. When the phantom can stay from 6 till 8 minutes before witnesses in one end of a cabinet it seems to the last, that in this part of room it's becoming appreciable more coldly. Few persons, who are not feeling this, have other impressions. So at approximation of a phantom, in particularly if the last stay before him 40 — 50 seconds. Dubo feels humidity on hands, especially on the ends of fingers. If the touch proceeds longer, humidity reaches the top part of body. Others feel easy trembling, something in a sort of shudder which, not being unpleasant, involuntarily amazes.
If you approach to a phantom, not touching him and omit then a hand in him, the hand is covered quickly with sensation of freshness or humidity. If you have a look in darkness at a hand, preformed a little bit (some minutes) in a phantom, it frequently seems slightly luminous, especially on the ends of fingers.
Here we deal with sensitivity of a phantom who makes sometimes dangerous and rather difficult experiences. There are witnesses who, eternally doubting the presence of a phantom, constantly demand, that the phantom was sent to them, and they prick or cut the phantom by hand. The subject shouts from pain, and the phantom leaves, not wishing more to be exposed to similar troubles.
The witnesses possessing some degree of clairvoyance feel more or less strongly touches of a phantom, especially if the last makes some pressure. I shall result only the following examples:
1. — on November, 6, 1907, 5 o'clock in the evening, in darkness, at the presence of Mrs. Steel and Fourier, Dubo and Bonn. The last near my desk, near to Steel.
I mentally express desire that phantom Edme goes to declare his presence only to two ladies. The last by turn declare that they feel presence of a phantom, an usual impression of freshness. In some minutes after the phantom has left the ladies, Bonn has complained on strong heat in head, unusual for him. — « I am exhausted, — he speaks. — under weight which presses me: blood flows to head and I choke ». The subject speaks at this time, that the phantom has climbed up my table, behind Bonn, has bent above the head of the last and has compressed it as in a vice. I order to phantom to return at place and we put on the light in room. The person Bonn is very flushed, hot head, hands damp, and the look shows deep depression. — « it is directly amazing, — he speaks, — some minutes prior to pressing of my head by phantom I thought, that the subject wants to deceive us ».
I do not enter into analysis of this unexpected case and I give the reader his own reflections.
2. — on January, 12, 1909, 9 o'clock in the evening. In darkness I make splitting by test person Jane in the presence of my son Gaston, without the conceived program. Enters Falck. We turn on a pocket electric lantern; he sits down near Gaston.
After carrying out of splitting phenomena I suggest Falck to rise and I send a phantom to him with an order to put the right hand on Falcks forehead and strongly press. The phantom goes. The witness sees how he approaches to him, lifts the right hand and hardly puts her on forehead. He feels a cold hand on forehead. In total it is more interesting that he sees details which we could not assume. — « the Hand is very brilliant, —he speaks: — I see even three rings on fingers: one on little finger, another on ring finger and the third on index. Diamond on the second ring is large and long".We put on the light and examine the hand of the subject. The indication of Falck was true. Lulling the subject, I have not noticed rings on his fingers that excludes an opportunity of mental suggestion; the clairvoyant did not know about presence of them as he has come in a dark room, not having examined even the subject.
We shall see further, that the phantom can act on witnesses still differently.
III. — Action of a phantom on sulphurous calcium. — The Phantom of some subjects allocates N rays rather plenty, what covers phosphorescence screens with remarkable image.
For people unfamiliar with last discoveries in physics, I allow me some indications on these new beams.
In the beginning of 1903. René Prosper Blondlot, the professor of physics at University in Nancy, studying rays X which do not refract, has noticed rays refracting. Soon he has discovered that these rays are independent of rays X, and characteristic property of them consists in increase in light emitting.
It is a lot of these rays in light of sun which is the main source of them. We find them also in light of electric lamp with the new glass cylinder, in human body as it have proved Augustin Charpontier, another professor in Nancy, and in some forces of the nature as other observers have proved. Professors in Nancy have named these new rays which increase shine of small fire, N rays, discovered in Nancy.
Practice has shown that it is possible to replace with advantage small fire with screen from a black paper on which it is necessary to impose preliminary sulphurous calcium, and the screen should be exposed for some minutes on light of the sun. Such screen is stored in darkness, in a dry place. Use it in full or at least relative darkness, and the screen becomes phosphorescent if you approach to it any source of N rays.
So, for example, in the darkness, sustained 5 — 6 days on the sun the screen becomes completely dark. But if you approach it some millimeters on the ends of fingers- against them on it more or less clearly will be designated a stain.
With these screens I made the most part of the experiences with phantoms and the following phenomenon has strongly struck me from the very beginning, together with everyone who saw it. As I spoke more than once, the body of the subject does not show any activity; property, which it possessed in a normal condition, — to cover screens, completely disappears; the phantom remote from a body possesses this property in extremely high degree. To some examples.
1. — on December, 17, 1907, 9 o'clock in the evening, in darkness, at presence of. M.Francois and. M.Sigon, professors of the Bruxel University.
I make separating of Mrs. Francois and I put near myself three small screens from the book: «N Rays » Blondlot, sustained 4 — 5 days on the sun and kept in darkness.
After several experiments of perception(recognition) of sounds and smells from a phantom I take two screens and I show their to witnesses who ascertain, that they are completely dark; I put one screen on lap to the subject, and another in a phantom sitting in an armchair, put for him on the left side of the subject.
The screen in a phantom is quickly glowing, and this laying in lap of the subject remains completely dark. In some minutes I take both screens and I show these to witnesses who are surprised very much with this phenomenon. Then I take the screen lying in lap of the subject, and I place it in a phantom. It is immediately  glowing, as well as the first. I again show both screens to witnesses who find their covered enough that it was easily possible to perceive a stain of sulphurous calcium on distance of meter.
Then I take the third screen, not former even in use, and I hold it 2--3 minutes on stomach of the subject without the slightest gleam of light, then I omit it in  phantom, and it is strongly covered. Witnesses certify, that it is so glowing, that one of them by means of its light sees on clock, what is the time.
2. — on November, 11, 1907, 6 o'clock in the evening, in darkness. Witnesses: Mrs. Steel and Fournier, the doctor dе-Saint Martin, Groh and Dubo.I make separating on Edme and I take two screens from the previous experiment preliminary sustained on the sun, now completely dark. I send one of screens to the doctor de-Saint Martin who must present it at known moment to a phantom who I shall send to him with the purpose of check — whether there will be an illumination. Other screen I hold 2 — 3 minutes in lap of the subject, but it is not shining. Then I put it at armchair in which the phantom sits. Through 30 — 40 seconds it is so strongly glowing, that all witnesses on distance at least 3,50 m. clearly see horizontal and vertical lines of specks. One of witnesses approaches on distance of 1 meter and can count all brilliant stains.
Having certified it, I send a phantom to the doctor who presents the screen that he holds in hand. Last is glowing, but in very weak degree.Light collected in screens is rather brightly printed on sensitive photo plates, even on completely weak.
I wanted to check up, whether the screens covered by a phantom are better printed on a (photo)plate, than those not influenced by action of a phantom I have taken two screens with sulphurous calcium, approximately identical size, sustained on the sun 2½ days, which in darkness were dark. I have put a sensitive plate in the open book; on the prepared side I have put the dark screen and the screen covered by a phantom, then I closed the book. After 10 — 12 minutes I have a plate which has given me a print represented on fig.
Though the difference on a plate is not so great, as I expected, nevertheless it is possible to notice, that the screen which has been covered by a phantom, have left appreciably more brilliant image than the other.

III.  Action of a phantom on his own body.

I. Our feelings, our sensations. — II. Sight. — III. Hearing. — IV. Sense of smell. — V. Taste. — VI. Touch.

I. — our feelings, our sensations. — A person has five senses: sight, hearing, sense of smell, taste and touch.
The philosophy teaches, that the sensation is impression of objects which soul perceives trough feelings.
The physiology shows that the sensation divide in impression, transfer and an identification. The impression is made on sense organs; it is transferred by nerves, carrying out this function, in the nervous center of body where, with assistance of reason, the identification is made. So, the eye collects light impressions. The ray of light has struck in it, the retina has received this impression which is transferred by an optic nerve in the brain center of body and is transformed there in feeling. Just during this moment we learn an object which was embodied in our sight. Other sense organs operate in the same way.
The physiology examines this phenomenon only from materialistic point of view, not recognizing the mental reason which seems to it a superfluous handicap. The philosophy puts forward soul, but explains the mechanism of his action insufficiently. The theosophy goes further giving us rather exact details, but poorly based, however, on proofs.
« Forces of idea, movement, sensitivity, — speaks Annie Besant, — are not contained in nervous substance. These are ways of action of "I" working in more internal bodies ». (« L'homme et ses corps » — the Man and his bodies).
« That what you name "color", — asserts Chettergy, — is an action of vibrations on your retina environment. These vibrations are transferred by an optic nerve in a brain, and from brain in a hyperphysical or astral body. From astral transfer goes in thinking centers and then you see a object. Hence, this easy influence on the retina environment, transferred to a nerve and a brain, then in astral and at last in thinking. (« Philisophie esoterique de l'Inde » — Secret philosophy of India, page 28).
Actually, who have sensations- physical body or invisible body who revives the seen body?
Experiences prove to us, that the first is the instrument, which the second uses, so to be expressed, and that all sensations are really felt by this body. I shall prove it by means of separating of physical body and his double, separated from each other and investigated separately.
At the doubled person all physical feelings are completely destroyed; he sees nothing with physical eyes, does not hear, does not smell a smell, does not feel taste; touch does not exist for him because he does not feel a touch. All impressions are perceived by the separate senses which have been carried away by a phantom with self.
For all subjects the phantom is all-person, and the physical body is only the instrument, the tool given to him by nature, that he could be expressed physically. « The phantom is I, — speak Leontina, — a physical body — an empty bag ». « The double is I, — asserts Jane, — I do not know, that such body, but it not I ».
Edme gives on this question rather picturesque description, answering the questions suggested by me: « the Body which you touch, — she, — speaks simply in place of another. My entire person in a brilliant essence. It thinks, knows, operates; it transfers to physical body everything, that I speak to you ».
— How can we name this brilliant essence?
— The name is not necessary; it is Edme, it is I; if you want, call him Edme.
— It is necessary to distinguish him however from the other. You agree to name it аstral, a phantom, the double as it is your double?
— No, no! Merely not аastral. Name it double, how you wish; but not the double, because it is I.
Asked on the other session, she has again declared that the physical body feels nothing, sees nothing, and that all impressions are transferred to him by the double through a cord connecting them. « Touch the double, — she speaks, — the impression of a touch strikes in physical brain, and the sensation is reflected in it. When we talk, you believe that my physical body hears because it answers; but it is not true. It hears nothing; the double hears. The question and the answer are transferred by a cord in physical brain, as though movement, through something vibrating. The double sees also, and sight is transferred to physical body by movement, as though electricity forcing physical brain to vibrate and then the brain sees what the double sees. All impressions received by the double, are transferred in the brain centers, but these centers see nothing in themselves ».
This statement makes true revelation whose importance will draw attention of the reader. It should be developed and explained. A while I shall speak nothing, but in process of statement of the supervision collected by me I shall introduce some explanations which will finally demonstrate it in all its surprising simplicity.
Experiences prove up to evidence, that the phantom carries away with itself feelings and reason of the subject which has presented dwelling, and the present true body is an etheric body, instead of a physical.
The phantom directly receives impressions through sense organs. Transfer is made by special conductors to the astral centers where feeling occurs. The received sensation is transferred to body of the subject by a cord, nerves transfer it then in the brain center of body, and it is expressed physically, as though by reflection. The hearing of a phantom directly receives vibrations of words, but he can receive also them from physical body. When we speak with the last, it hears and understands as though, as answers, but actually it hears nothing, also understands nothing. Sound waves, however, are felt, but they do not make any impression on this upset tool, which has no more hearing to hear, and reason to understand. Sound waves are transferred by a cord to phantom who is the soul which feels, transforms feeling into sensation, formulates the answer in vibration, transfers these vibrations by consecutive waves to physical body which expresses them, i.e. answers them, physically — it was necessary to tell automatically — by organs of voice.
Observing these facts, you notice soon, that feelings are considerably more advanced at the doubled subject, i.e. at a phantom, that at the normal person because in the first there is no organic resistance which they find in the second.
Impressions of hearing are made not only on ear, but also on affinity of all parts of phantom body. The dwelling of sight not always happens in eyes of a phantom. Some subjects clairvoyants see the fine things, represented to a phantom, with this part, witch see in a condition of sleep-walking. Frequently impressions of sight are made with belly, a forehead, a nape, and the ends of fingers. Subjects not clairvoyants do not see in general things shown to him. Realization of other feelings is made by astral bodies just as are made  by physical when the subject lies in a normal condition.
If the present true dwelling of feelings lies not in a physical body, blind and deaf should see and hear in known conditions,  if even their bodies were unable to perceive impressions.
I have absolute confidence, that it is so indeed, and that in separation blind sees, the deaf person hears, also insensible feels a touch. I have had not the opportunity to study this phenomenon which I only for a moment observed as I still yet did not meet clairvoyant subjects of deaf persons, blind and at all not feeling a touch. But I shall take advantage of a case if it will be presented, and I hope, that in the following editions of the present book there will be overview of this sort.
Touch of hysterical subjects proves this to me; insensible parts in a normal condition are made sensitive in separation. However, Reichenbach already observed something similar. He experimented in a dark room with blind (strong clairvoyant) who saw оdon radiations allocated by people and even by metal objects taking place there.
Here it is necessary to make an important remark. The phantom operates, as a physical body in a normal condition. It is known, that we perceive better impressions when our attention is directed to them. So, we see, we hear, we try, we distinguish smells better when we look, we listen and we smell. The same happens with a phantom who sees, hears, and smells better when we suggest him to pay attention to impression which he should test.
After those a little long, but necessary forewords, necessary for clear understanding of the amazing phenomena of separation, I shall present to the reader the main overview collected by me about each of feelings, stating them approximately similarly as collecting them. III. — Hearing. — Hearing — the most subtle and most gentle sense organ at a phantom. He is capable to perceive sounds on much greater distance, that usually does make a physical body even at the greatest attention. Without exception doubled subjects perfectly hear all, when the body hears nothing. Some overview which I state by way of collecting them.
1. — on the beginning of my experiences since André, Marta is doubled; her phantom sits in an armchair on its left side on distance of meter. I bring watch to a part of the phantom corresponding to his left ear. Marta clearly hears ticking. I put watch to a nape, to belly areas, to legs(foots) of a phantom, — she continues to hear. I put gradually watch to an external aperture of ears of the subject, to a nape, belly and to legs(foots) of the subject — she hears nothing. Experience repeated with the same subject in different conditions, always yielded the same results.
2. — Phantom Edme hears watch, the same as phantom Marta; he hears also a rustle of a thin paper, which is crumbled.
Wanting to find out, whether can he hear from other room, if to speak to him silently, I have taken following measures: I have put a chair in the middle halls of assemblies « Маgn. Societies », also I has suggested to Mrs. Steel to rise from his chair during time specified by me and very silently speak to a phantom which I shall send here from the cabinet. Mrs. Furnier will be placed in a corridor, dividing two rooms, near a window to see the subject and me in cabinet, and also movements and gestures of Mrs. Steel.
I make separation on the subject (Edme) and when the phantom appears condensed enough, I send him to hall to sit on the chair prepared for him. Mrs. Steel and Furnier on the places. Edme complains at first, that Mrs. Steel touches she, that for she it is rather unpleasant. She hears, how it is spoken, but as she is weakened, she does not understand, what is spoken. I ask she to pay all attention to hearing, and I ask Mrs. Steel to repeat, what is spoken: — « she gives me advice and asks to be quiet ».
The subject is very tired, weakened; I send the phantom back on his place. Mrs. Steel declares to us, what she has told to phantom: « I'm here; you hear me? Be quiet and be not nervous ». These words have been made so silently, that Mrs. Furnier sitting in three meters of distance did not hear any word.
3. — Phantom Leontine hears very clearly ticking of watch, and physical body, despite of verbal suggestion, does not hear. We are in semidarkness.
I pass the watch to doctor de-Saint Martin and I ask him imperceptibly for the subject to check up, who hears sounds: a phantom or a physical body.  Speaking nothing, during known moment the doctor cautiously approaches to the subject and by turn puts watch to his both ears, not touching to them, the Subject speaks nothing. The doctor brings watch to external ear apertures. The subject speaks nothing. Then the doctor directs attention of the subject to the watch put on ear, speaking, that he should hear it. The subject declares that he hears nothing. The doctor insists, asserting, that ticking of clock is very loud, that he should hear. The subject irritably speak, that he does not hear it. In some minutes the doctor quietly approaches to a phantom sitting in armchair on the left side of the subject, and stretches clock to that place, where lies a head of a phantom. The subject immediately declares that he hears ticking of watch. Then the watch is put on an armchair, on floor, on some distance from legs (foots) of a phantom. The subject declares, that he feels moving an object and perfectly hears it where it is have been put.
Knowing, that completely deaf people hears ticking of watch if they hold them on a teeth, I take watch from the doctor, I order to the subject to open the mouth, I insert in  mouth a ring of watch and I order to press  the  tooths, paying the attention to sounds which I should hear. Then I ask him to unclench the tooths to take out the object. The subject understood, that he compresses something in teeths, but, despite of suggestion, he hears nothing.
4. — in darkness, I'm alone in cabinet with Teresa doubled.
After knocks in a table to which nobody have been approached, I want to find out, whether a phantom can easy hear noise when his attention is driven on other subject. For this purpose I put the armchair before a desk near window, in 5 meters from the subject, and I put the watch on armchair. I approach to the subject and, to distract his attention, again I make knocks in table; then, during the known moment, I suggest to phantom to sit in armchair and to tell to us if he will see something interesting on my desk. He slowly goes to armchair. At light of a pocket electric lantern I check, whether there he is, and I come back to the subject who exclaims: « anything interesting is present on your table, but I hear ticking of watch». I ask where watch is. — « I do not know, — he answers, — but I hear them perfectly ». — Well, — I speak, — be attentive. Having put hands on a table, you learn, whether on a table is a watch. — The Subject answers immediately: « The watch is not on table ». After some silence, adds: « it is directly amusing, I sit on watch ». Again having kept silence a little, he speaks craftily: « Yes, it is very ridiculous; ordinarily my ears are not there ».
5. — on February, 16, 1909, experience with Jane, at nine o'clock in the evening at the presence of Falck and Demalier, in darkness.
I want to find out, whether a phantom hears on known distance an almost inaudible noise, and to compare hearing of strong and very easy noises.
Having ascertained once again, that the subject hears nothing with ears, I send a phantom to my desk on distance of four meters from the subject and I ask Demalier to put his watch on head of phantom. « I see, — speaks Jane, — a round subject; this is watch, I hear ticking ».
I give the watch to the experimenter who replaces them. — « I see a watch, — the subject, — but the watch is not the same; this is bigger, and ticking is louder. » It was true.
I take a plate and strongly scratch on it with nails to make a loud scratching sound. — « I hear noise; precisely scratch on a board ». I ask, is this noise loud or weak? — « I well hear it, — but it is not loud » the subject answers.
I softly nails on a plate. Very easy sound is hardly audible. Demalier on distance of one meter. G.Falk does not hear it on 2 meters. — « I hear that scrape on plate as before », — the subject speaks. I ask what sound, the previous is louder or more silent? The subject answers, that he hears the same as before.
I ask Demalier to approach to me as possible closer, not touching me. I softly spend four times with pulp of a finger on plate which is put to the right ear. I hardly hear, and Demalier, in several centimeters from me, hears nothing. — « I hear noise on a plate », — the subject speaks. I ask how many times he heard this noise. — « I did not consider how many ». — Pay attention, I touch four times to a plate. — « I heard the same noise four times ». I spend on the plate once, very easy. G.Demalier who have very good hearing, hears nothing. — « I heard one only time ». I spend a finger three times. — « I heard three times ».
I ask Jane, whether she well hears last sounds, as loud scratching of nails. — « I hear very well, — she, — that sound is not identical, but I hear equally well both those, and others ».
I order to a phantom to remain on a place occupied by him; I depart on one meter of distance and softly spend on a plate two times. — « the Sound has repeated two times ». I depart on two meters and I spend on a plate two times. The subject hears nothing more. I approaches on 25 centimeters and also spend two times on a plate. The subject as though hears something, but he does not distinguish sounds. I approaches on 25 centimeters and I repeat action. — « I heard noise two times », — the subject speaks.
I light on candle which I put on a desk and again I start spend fingers on a plate. On distance of 1,50 m the subject hears nothing, meanwhile as in darkness he heard well. I approach to a phantom on one meter of distance; he hears nothing; very easy sounds only then are audible to him when I approach very close to a phantom.  Checking up this fact is rather essential for me, I extinguish candle and again I spend fingers on a plate on distance of one meter, then on 1,50 m from a phantom, and the subject hears. The experiences of hearing rather frequently repeated, in the most various conditions and with all measures of a guarantee, always yielded the same results with all subjects, even when last, tired or not suited, were unable to make other phenomena.

So, we have, if even only in theories, four attires, four bodies in which the soul also consistently get dressed, then leaves, when they will be worn out, the bodies having own existence in three plans of the nature. Knowing characteristic features of each of them, it is possible to find out easily on experiences, at the presence of what body we are.
Between 1850 and 1866 Reichenbach has proved that for clairvoyants in full darkness the person shines with beautiful colors, blue to the right, yellow, orange or reddish — we shall tell orange — on the left. In 1882, having begun with experiences which have allowed me to formulate the physical laws managing actions of magnetism, I have described the overview in ,,Magnetic physics ». De-Roche, Luis and other researchers have confirmed them.
The result of this overview will serve us as a point of support, for opinion about two subtle bodies penetrating through our seen body and splitting in "separation".
I am in a dark room with the subject who I shall separate, and with several witnesses among which is one good clairvoyant, capable of separation, but taking place in a condition of wakefulness and full consciousness.
In some minutes two clairvoyants says that by them, as well as I and all witnesses, are made brilliant, shine beautiful blue light on the right and not less beautiful orange on the left.
These colorful shades as though belong to physical body, but it is incorrect.
I lull the subject who even as though is more brilliant than before. I exteriorise him. He becomes less brilliant, keeping the colors, and during 1 — 1, 5 meters air around of him too is done brilliant, but without colors. I continue magnetize and I make separation. The physical body becomes completely dark, the subject at all does not see itself though he sees all witnesses, and the body of a phantom not only is very brilliant, but it shines blue light on the right, orange on the left similarly as the body of the subject has shone several minutes ago.
All light matter has passed, hence, from physical body to a phantom. But of what bodies consist the last? — It is obvious, that he will consist of invisible bodies, and physical body, on picturesque expression of Leontine, this minute — « is only empty bag ».
We go further. We believe that the etheric body rather seldom abandons physical body and never leaves him because it should support the vital energy necessary to him for existence. If we shall suggest to a phantom to leave on some kilometers, to go, for example, to ourselves, to look, what there occurs, then there will happen rather remarkable phenomenon on eyes of the subject and awake clairvoyant. In a body of phantom there happens the same separation. It is done more brilliant, but loses the blue and orange shades covering him from both sides which pass in body of the subject, again beginning to shine. The phantom leaves, passing through the nearest wall; he executes the task and comes back to the place left, the side of the subject. He still shines white light. Gradually he accepts color shades, loses partly dazzling whiteness, and the body of the subject becomes completely dark.
What has taken place? Is easily to understand. The etheric body making a body of a phantom has returned to the body of subject for maintenance of life, and the phantom has left with the astral body as the instrument.
This experience is easy to carry out; it is checked by various ways mutually confirming each other.
When the subject is separating spontaneously, he always sees that the phantom soaring above him shines with more or less bright white light.
When the subject has easy fallen asleep in the bed, and the phantom of him goes to be shown far, as on experiences in VI, he always shines white light without color. In both cases the etheric body was not separated from physical body and the seen body (for clairvoyants) of a phantom will consist of an astral body, more brilliant, than etheric body.
Other proof, that it is so: subjects clairvoyants see sometimes a phantom of dead and see him always brilliant, but without color. And except for subjects on experiences all persons seeing in known circumstances died, always saw them in the brilliant form without color. The reason of this phenomenon is easy for determining. The soul has left with the astral body as the instrument, having abandoned for decomposition end following death physical and etheric bodies from which she was separated for ever. And when she will wish to see somebody from relatives, she is shown in the astral body which became her unique external attire, because it is her unique body, the unique instrument.
On my experiences the truth is that some subjects saw an astral body with colors as opposed to etheric body, but I believe that if the first happens really, that it seems to me almost authentic that this can see only very strong clairvoyants, and that only when they pay all attention to it.
Therefore I think proved enough, that when the phantom shines beautiful blue and orange light on the right and on the left, he has tangible, seen (for clairvoyants)  etheric body; when he is more brilliant, but without color painting on his tangible body, his external attire will consist only of an astral body. In splitting subjects strong clairvoyant sees this brilliant sphere which seems to them of incomparable beauty; it soars above head of a phantom to which it is connected by very brilliant energy cord. I have obtained rather remarkable picture of this sphere,fig., on a glass plate wrapped up in black paper and put on left side of Leontiny, at height of spleen, at that minute, when the scared phantom has rushed to the subject to enter him. It was on June, 26, 1908, on 6 o'clock in the evening, at the presence of Mrs. Dangle. Dubo, Fardo and major Darzhe.

Doctor Baraduke frequently obtained prints on which the brilliant sphere is seen above the person represented in an objective. Sometimes this sphere forms light around of head.A Fig. represents the medium-mystic doctor in London who treats the patient with a pray, assigning hands. On fig. doctor Baraduke, in ecstasy of devotion is represented. Last photo especially shows us, that this phenomenon of separation never happens in ordinary conditions of life and, to observe it, it is necessary to leave the Corporal. :heh:

May be you will not be able to pass over certain research program: 1) Guaranteed OBE induction in any experimental subject at will, certain technocratic approaches will allow this (naturally, not some kind of baby toys!!!), 2) A scenario for accurateness of "astral senses", control of "astral displacements", 3) Instrumental registration of "projecting entity", instrumental communication with "projecting entity". Make a point between experiments that merely fiddle with phenomena and experiments attempting to discover PROCESS that might be involved!!!
