see my dilema is I'm a soto zen practicer (not good word usage, bonk it though) and Chakras aren't usually used with soto. So I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not. I know how to meditate the third eye chakra, I just don't do it often.

I know Greytraveler, haha. Original zombies were meant as slaves that didn't eat at all :]

I want to get into OBEs and AP through my Buddhist practice, instead of completely restarting. I'm slowly opening my third eye through charka meditation. Does anyone know a way to make sure my third eye is opening. I've recently noticed a spikey purple circle when I close my eyes during chakra meditation, it that my third eye manifesting?

I like that summerlander. Which form of Buddhism do you think is the most effective and focused on the practice?

And I thought the Foundational vehicle was Dogen's way of refering to the Dharma/Sangha?
#4
I see.

and to clear up this entire situation, can we stop discussing what Siddhartha believed. It doesn't matter. What matters is the practice. Can we discuss the practice? Zazen? Sutras? Koans? Siddhartha could be pastafarian for all that it matters.

And thanks Personalreality

Ello, I'm jack young, aka paralizedeyes, as is plain to see.

So lets see, anything you need to know:

I'm a bassist and a singer.
I've always a deep intrest in crytids, demons, paranormal and whatnot.
I'm a Buddhist
I'm a punk (sex pistols style, not this bovine excrement they come out with nowadays.)
I'm a writer.
I'm 16.
I like to think I'm mature, don't cloud my mind with useless excrement too often, apart from the occassional intoxicant.
I adore the halo series.
Major fan of zombies.
I'm not what you would call cuddly, but I'm friendly as long as you keep an open mind. Don't be arrogant or ignorant around me.
I'm interested in discovering my astral form, have no clue how.
Skateboarded for 8 years, surfed for 12, track for 3, and free-running for 1.

If there is anything you wanna know, i'm open to questions, otherwise, I'd like this thread just to talk and laugh. Sounded corny as hell.
Cheers!

I started this meaning in terms of the practice, not deitys lol

I like this so far though :D
#10
@personal reality: perfection!!! XD

Thanks you, for the love of whatever deity you choose, summerlander. :D

and personalreality, opps, I will disreguard that then lol I was thinking, wait, this guys has helpped me out before, why does he suddenly sound like a confusing willy? It's fine. Thanks for helping out.

I've gotta say I agree with Ether2 on everything except the higher planes and whatnot that I don't understand.
and he voiced my opinion on what the concept of love is. When I think of it, compassion is the unity of all emotions. A thoughtless act that generates good or benefit.

Dharma is translated as "the way", "way", or "your way" along with several varitions with teaching.
When I say Dharma, I'm referring to ones practice and views on life. The Dharma is never wrong, but all of it isn't full illuminated in the mind yet.
#13
I know that personalreality. Apart from the astral projection bit. I have no knowledge of what AP is about.

Thats gotta be the most irksome assumption of Buddhists. Not every one is filled with drabble and love.

And I wasn't speaking of anger, hate, and disgust in the concept of war. I don't think war should happen. But hate unites people in ways that the loving don't see. Just as love unites in the way the hateful can't see.

Take the entire "Punk" movement for example. It was fueled by anger, indifference, and segragation, but in the end, something beautiful came out of that. An entire government and social system was changed for the better.

Not to mention, BUDDHISM IS MEANT TO EXPERIENCE LIFE AS IT IS! NOT MAKE EVERYONE CUDDLE. Cannot stress that enough.

And inspite of the air of anger I might have portrayed, I meant to explain my belief and understanding. Sorry if I sounded like an butt.

I'm excited to see the ensueing chaos or bovine excrement excuses caused by the bible-thumpers  :-D

Personally, just gonna talk to this odd bunch until the end.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Ok, so I was focusing on the third eye area (middle of the forehead). The entire time, I kind of just toyed with the shadows in my eyes, I felt nothing though. But as I broke free from the meditation, I noticed that I had the sensation of freefalling, but just on my skin, if that makes sense.

So to clarify, was I doing it right? .-.

Lexy: for some false image of uniqueness and independence.

stookie: thanks for pointing that out. You have a point.

CFTraveler: Feel free to voice your opinion. You wouldn't have posted that if you didn't want a response.
#18
I've had problems sleeping all my life though. I will take that into consideration anyway.
#19
Lexy: But that doesn't work in this day and age. As you may have noticed, every teenager is a whiney little bonk, so it's easy to accept the 4 noble truths. Any intelligent person can look at the world and say "well, this sucks."

Stookie: But Buddhism isn't a religion. It's a philosophy. We have no creation theory, central god, etc etc.

Pauli2: If that didn't make me laugh, i'd be offended lol

So today while on my tumblr, I recieved a message saying this:

"My goal is to tinkle people off. ticked people get excrement done."
Not really a Buddhist statement. Buddha clearly states that anger and agression are emotions that should be banned from your mind.

"In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves."

To which I replied:

Buddha and Dogen also both state to act with compassion. Anger, hate, disgust, if used correctly, is a compassionate act.

Plus Buddhism, as a philosophy and lifestyle, isn't suited to completely erase any emotion, sensation, and thought. It's aimmed at experiencing it.

And on a more personal note, I'd like to say that I'm not practicing for the "truth" or "enlightenment". You practice for the practice.

What makes a Buddhist a true Buddhist

Is it the hours he puts into meditation?

Any fool can do Zazen for a bit.

Is it the quality of her robes?

Anyone can learn sewing.

Is it her knowledge of the Dharma?

If you have any knowledge of the Dharma, you have no knowledge of the Dharma.

A Buddhist acts compassionately,

Through kindness and vileness.

He works diligantly,

Savoring the life he has.

She is sincere

Keep to your Dharma.

I'm just curious as to how this community would view this. If you wanna reply, sweet. If not, oh well.

ahhh, I was blind and now I see.

I actually take melatonin to keep me asleep at night (usually 5 tablets at one time because 1 tablet does nothing for me.) so could that be influencing anything?
#22
Alright, thanks guys. All of you.

Jilt: mer, I wasn't looking for ways to do it with crystals. That was the oppisite direction I was trying to go it, lol. thanks for mentioning the author though. I will set to work reading her works.

Personalreality: you're just a damn abyss of info. thanks man. or woman. or...it?

Stookie: thanks for helping out first.
#23
Just to make sure I understand: So you're recommending I kind of go into a Zazen state of mind, to slow my mind until it comes to an eventual focus, not the normal clusterfuck it usually is?
#24
Reading on this forum, it's intriguing me more and more. I'm a Buddhist and I've been meditating for almost a year now, so I'd say I'm nicely experienced with my root and sacral. I've done the third eye meditation a few times, but it's never done much for me except make my fingers sore.

Is there anyway I can practice openning or utilizing my third eye just sitting here, typing this. Anywhere. Eatting dinner, running, reading, anytime anywhere. I want to practice this more. If anyone has advice, feel free to spit it at me.

Thanks in advance,

Jack "paralizedeyes" Young
