Grounded yet crazy sceptics ...   That actually sounds like a perfect description lol.

Just check the place out whenever you have the time, perhaps you 'll like it :D

If you 're looking for a small online community centered around spiritual developement and self-exploration then I would like to invite you to the Shadow of Elysion forums. http://shadowofelysion.exoboards.com

I 'm not trying to get anyone away from here, since this place doesn't have to offer even 1% of this place. I just hope to get a small new spiritual community off the ground. Check the place out if you have some free time

Disclaimer: I did ask permission before posting this and I was allowed to share this link by the mods.

(edit: we moved so replaced the old address with the new one.)

On the original text, the person saying that was pseudoscience was absolutely correct. That piece of text is in no way scientifically significant since it does not give any sources on which to base its findings. No experiments, no other literature or other scientific works it builds on, nothing but words.

It says there have been experiments but where are they? Where are the results, the set up of the experiment, the way it was conducted?

Using a laser to transmit soundwaves supposedly altered DNA .. duh .. they use lasers to fight cancers. Lasers can alter DNA, the soundwaves are just there.

As for the "We only use 10% of our brains" thing, it is a myth. We use 100% of our brains .. back when that myth was created they only knew what 10% was for that is all., they had no clue about the other 90% .. so it must not be used.

To stick with percentages, 90% of our DNA is not junk DNA. It is true that only 10% of the DNA is used to actually create proteins but that doesn't make everything else junk. A large portion of DNA is needed to tell where and when the protein creating DNA needs to start working. Some things they don't know what they are for yet, true. But claiming that 90% of the DNA is junk is a false claim.

hello

I have recently created a forum centered around spiritual developement and was wondering if I am allowed to create a topic to promote my forum and gain some members.

I already am planning on mentioning the astral pulse website on my forum, for it 's very useful content and Bruce's meditative techniques.

I realize the use policy says no advertizing allowed but I am not doing this for any personal profit.

I 'd like to share an old OBE I had because I think there are quite a few useful opinions around here.

First of all I have tried many AP techniques for almost 3 years now I think. I 've had my ups and downs like all of us but I 've only managed to have an OBE once and it wasn't on purpose. Almost a year ago I believe I had a lucid dream. I was dreaming normally when I did something I do alot in waking life and I suddenly realized I was dreaming. I grabbed control and stepped out of the dream. It only lasted for a few seconds when suddenly a rather large skull came crashing down from the sky and hit me. I remember a white flash after that and I woke up.

Thats the only out of body experience I 've ever had. Unless you maybe count some from when I was still a child and I used to have this recurring dream where I 'd play around in a very familiar environment and found out I could fly. Very realistic dream but I 'm not sure if it was an actual OBE.

Lately I 've just been too busy with the rest of my life and am experiencing quite some difficulties with concentrating for the last year so my attempts usually ended fast in either me falling asleep or my mind drifting off.

The best way I know is to simply imagine yourself being the opposite of what you 're trying to ignore. If you 're cold imagine yourself heating up. You can do this easily by imagining a flame of energy burning inside of you. Remember how it feels to sit by a fire, how the warmth feels on your skin.
You can do the same for heat resistance though I find that a bit harder.

A life without any reason isn't worth living IMO. We do bring most meaning into life ourselves though.

quote:
There is no need to "accomplish something" in life, as many people are taught to believe.

That is a matter of belief and whether it is true or not doesn't really matter. Having the belief that you will have to be judged for your actions after death is a very good method to make sure you don't step out of line and do the right thing. Unless we are talking about some sort of cult here who thinks the right thing to do is screw their leader and give him/her all your money.
Believing you don't have to pay for your actions is a good way to avoid your responcibilities. This way you are free to do what you want and not deal with the results later because you will be dead anyway.

I 'm sure there are more than just these two viewpoints but I still think that the idea of life having a meaning is the more useful of the two.

It would be nice to see some channeling experiences ...

As for myself I only have second hand experience with seeing people channel online. I can't tell for sure if that person was really channeling. All I know is that he felt different and knew things he didn't seem to know before. From what I gathered a channel is quite demanding on the channeler and the actual knowledge of the channeled person is reduced to a minimum and quite hard to obtain sometimes.

This channeling was one between two physical beings but through a spiritual link. So not quite the same as normal telepathy which I see as a mental connection between two beings where they can read the others thoughts. The hosts mind and control over his body were largely taken over as he sat back and watched. He could take control back at any time and speak up when he wanted though.

That is it for my channeling experiences. I don't really know what to think of it all but I am definitely very interested in experiencing a channel myself and already tried a few times but never got any futher than a faint feeling of another presence trying to push through and maybe say something. Might have just been my imagination though.

Faith is a very handy thing to have and can definitely help one protect against the many setbacks they would experience in life. But blind faith is the religion of a fool. Why would one say it is evil to question? That would be the same as saying knowledge is evil. And the only way I can see knowledge being evil is for the dictator who keeps his people dumb in order to rule them.
I don't believe your god is such a dictator so it might be good if your mom would have an answer the next time she is asked that question instead of brushing it off as evil. Unless he really is the kind of god that would strike me down with lightning from the sky (or something less dramatic) for asking questions I don't see why I should be afraid. The way I see it god should be respected, not feared. And your gods moral teachings are definitely worth some respect.

I 've already tried pulling my fingers and jumping up in the air several times a day for a couple months ... It wasn't really succesful but maybe I should start again.

Ok I am going to have a slightly different view than most here. I do not see that love is all around us. I don't see the feelings of acceptance and being content and happy with what is around us as being love. Love is all about relationships for me. It includes friendship, family ties and of course the more intimate kind which you were probably talking about.
I don't think we need it. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to hate or fear without love. If one has problems seeing one particular color does that mean they are completely colorblind? I don't see what other emotions have to do with love since they are merely another thing on the whole emotional range we humans possess. I don't even see love as an emotion but a group of several including happiness and the like. But also including fear or hate. If you love someone you fear losing them and you could easily hate those that might make you lose them. Love isn't just about the positive it is about the whole.
So why do we love? To complete ourselves. We are all social creatures, even the loners among us. That is where love comes in. Love moves us to create ties, bond with eachother in many different forms. We find others to grow with and to complete ourselves. I think one person can never grow as high as a group of connected individuals. If we look back at the earliest human life we see that we worked together in groups, that we needed those groups to survive. Humans can't survive on their own .. Even Robinson Crusoë had his Friday. [;)]

This works on the physical levels but I also believe it works on the higher levels of the soul. We need contact and bonds with others to grow. And that is why we love or look for love without much result at times. It is a devastating thing coming from one side alone but when you find it returned everything becomes very worth it.

I do believe that we fall in love with the person and not the sex, but depending on your sexual orientation (which is a biological thing like people have pointed out already) we either see that love as friendship or the more passionate kind involving sex and intimacy. I 'm not saying that sex has to go together with love though, most of the times it doesn't IMO. We all have a specific sexual orientation implanted in our genes. And that orientation helps determine the type of attachment we feel towards a person.

I 'm probably gonna say things that already have been said but since it is never bad to have a slightly different angle on something I 'm going to say them anyway.

Why do we live?
To live .. or in other words to learn like they said before me. There is no sense to life other than life itself.

Why do we exist?
I don't think we have another choice. Everything exists and there is nothing that doesn't exist. That is there is nothing that doesn't exist and we can grasp because if we even think about it it exists at the least in our minds and very likely also somewhere outside our minds. We can choose to exist in another form but I don't believe we can 'not exist'. I also don't believe in an absolute beginning or end. IMO there was always something, always changing. We can put a beginning and an end or a period of transition but that depends on your perspective. Take death for example: One person believes there is no afterlife, when you die it is over so for him death would be the end and birth the beginning. Someone else believes in reïncarnation which means that for that person death or birth are neither the end or beginning. Take even another person with more or less the same views as the first one. This person doesn't see death as an end because even though you stop to exist as a human being you continue to exist as dust, food for scavengers, energy emitted in the form of heat as your body cools down, ...

If you look at zero as nothing then everything would be its opposite.
If you look at zero as the result of two opposites canceling eachother out then anything that isn't cancelled out would be its opposite.
If you look at zero from a strictly mathematic point of view then you actually have two zero's a negative one and a positive one. They are eachothers opposites.
If ...

Leave perspective out of it you say. Hard to do when it is all about perspective. Things can and are looked at in different ways and a vague concept as opposite can be discussed forever. You 'll always find something that could be an opposite. Who can tell if everything has an opposite or not if you haven't even defined the concept of opposite. Most things I 've seen here mentioned as the opposite of something just seem to be something different. The only few examples of actual opposites I have seen mentioned are those along the lines of gravity vs anti-gravity ... light vs anti-light. Here is of course the question what is anti-gravity? Isn't it just gravity in the opposite direction? And if they are both gravity they are actually the same.

I believe everything has an opposite in at least one of its many perspectives.

It is quite an impressive video indeed ... As for that physics experiment where thin reflecting plates with a black coated back set up in a well balanced wheel that moves inside a glass bowl with the air sucked out when you put it in the light. It does exist but this is clearly not even close to that. I forgot what the thing was called though. In an environment where there is no obstruction of movement, not even the air, something very light can be moved by light particles hitting it if it is made so that one side will reflect the particles and the other will absorb them.

Creating ice is IMO only physically possible in the way Risu no Kairu mentioned. If it were possible through mental concentration and energy work I could imagine it being extremely dangerous because if you can make energy cold enough to freeze the water molecules in the air you made it cold enough to freeze the water molecules in you[;)]

I do know that it is possible to make oneself practically resistant to cold or heat which is all in the mind .. of course this won't stop you from freezing or burning yourself but one can block the cold and hot feelings out or even generate them at will.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Daemons
January 10, 2004, 09:16:49
I don't believe there are any daemons in the way they are shown in those books. From what I got the daemons were representations of their owners. They were shifting and finding their place in life when they are still young and settle down in one form serving as a symbol of the humans strongest qualities. In that way one could say that ones astral body is some kind of daemon, a representation of that person.
Another possibility would be that one sees daemons as spirit or astral guides. In that case they can be seen on the astral or with astral vision.

I have never encountered the literal daemons from the series anywhere though.

A chakra is basically a place in your body where energy is stored. 7 major ones and a whole bunch of minor ones, like people said before. Try a search engine or the site attached to this forum [;)]

Welcome to Healing discussions! / DNA healing
October 25, 2003, 12:20:22
Well I don't know about those aliens but if DNA can be healed all genetic diseases like mongolism, cancer, ... can be cured. Also the process degradation through aging could be reversed since aging is basically caused by degradation of the DNA.

I don't think reiki is that powerfull.
