Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: Breathing

"belly breathing" is just what they teach you to do when you sing as well

Thank you guys, so it's not just me... It seems like just "having memory" of something that you didn't actively participate in is just a dream not a conscious OBE experience

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: Slowed time

its relativity. A second with your hand on a hot pan can seem like 10 minutes and 10 minutes your hands on a beautiful woman can seem like a second. All perception ;)

Hi everyone. So I have been working on OBE for a few weeks and had some very "close call's" as far as getting out and experiencing OBE. I picked up a copy of Robert Bruce's "Astral Dynamics" (the revised edition) and in reading, my few experiences made sense. The "real time sight" I had experienced being a low-power OBE that my consciousness flipped back and forth between, etc.

What I don't get though, is that so far in his book he talks about duality of consciousness where the projected body and the physical body are both the same consciousness operating independently of one another. This explanation says that you can experience the vibrations et al of an exit but still lay there believing you had a failed exit, when in reality your "real time" or "astral double" is trucking along without you realizing it. Furthermore, the only way that you realize it wasn't a failed attempt is when the memories from that double are successfully "downloaded" on re-entry.

My question is, and forgive me if this is a dumb one, but is an OBE just the "memory" of what happened? So I would "remember" the experience just as I remember getting in my car and going to work in the morning? If there is truly this "duality of consciousness" are you ever able to transfer the "you" that is attempting the OBE to being the "you" that is doing the OBE? I guess that is what he calls transferring the center of consciousness... I had "thought" that a successful OBE was actually having the experience, not just having the memory of it when you come out of it... It sounds kind of liker that movie "Total Recall" with Arnold where they "implant" memories of an experience but "you" weren't *really* there.. Thanks in advance!

from what I understand, Astral projection and lucid dreaming are the same destination, just two different routes to get there. Welcome :)

well to put it quite simply, you say you're interested in meditation and healing and enlightenment. Do you want to read about those things or actually have first-hand experience of them? Welcome :)

reinert, I think everyone naturally pictures themselves in a 3rd person view. Even if you think back and try to recall an event that involved you you'll find that when you picture it the perspective is no longer from your eyes as you saw it happening but of that 3rd person. I do believe though with practice you can begin to "step back in" to the body you are picturing and then be able to fully immerse yourself in the experience you are trying to imagine. The idea is not remember being there, but to "be" there

welcome Leslie :) I definitely would suggest reading Don Degracia's DO_OBE. It's available on Amazon and also free on the web. I had had experiences for years (they weren't complete OBE's) and reading that book did a wonderful job of describing exactly what I had experienced and had so much thorough information that I knew I didn't need to be "afraid" of what happened, in fact it spurred my curiosity so much that I immediately started reading like a fiend on the subject. A few other favorites of mine are Robert Bruce's "Astral Dynamics" and William Buhlman's "Adventures Beyond the Body". I'm sure others have their own favorites, such as Robert Monroe's stuff but remember that knowledge is power. The best way to control and conquer fear is by understanding it. I envy you because I'm still trying to get out! Good luck!

Hey there Kaul, welcome to you too! I really like Robert Bruce's energy work book. I incorporate his techniques of body awareness up and down each leg and arm as part of my relaxation or induction technique. Usually that alone after my normal relaxation starts the beginning of trance induction. I didn't think much of it at first, but in practice a few times I can really feel the results.

My biggest problem is I just don't know when to try and separate, or what separating by "rolling out" actually means. I tried tonight, and from start to (unsuccessful) finish it took 17 minutes. I would say around ten minutes in the "vibrations" or tingling started throughout my body, heart began to race, intense pressure in my forehead, and rapid eye movement began. At that point, my body felt heavy as a rock and I tried rolling out and successfully rolled over in my physical body lol.

Thank you for the advice and the welcome guys. I usually try it 3 times a day (because I work from home and have the time). Once in the morning once late afternoon, and one at night. It usually goes 25-30 minutes I would say from start till when I "give up" lol. I am able to get in trance fairly quickly it seems, I think part of that is because I have been doing that much for a long time with meditation and such. One thing I'm not too clear on is if there's a "now or never" type thing.. Meaning when I feel the trance take hold, do I have to get to it or can I wait until I'm ready and go? I've noticed when the trance induces my heart rate shoots wayyy up and I feel a huge pressure in my forehead, but after a few minutes they both calm down. At that point I can still feel the vibrations or energy surging through me. I can deepen the trance (I guess that's what it is) and the heart will race and the forehead pressure will start again, and I've read that that point is when the body is creating the energy-double to expel but it's all guesswork at this point! Thanks again!

lol shoot in my zeal to join and post I left it out, sorry! Anyway, I've been reading so much about OBE that I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the information and different techniques. I've read books by Buhlman, Don Degracia, and a few by Robert Bruce. I think I have confused myself, because I am able to get the relaxation, the trance, the "headrush" and rush of energy, even the feeling of floating, but at that point I don't know what to do! I know I'm not separated because I can still feel being in my body but using for instance the rope technique I'm not sure what my etheric arms are supposed to be. Do I try to actually force my arm up and then it won't move but an etheric one will? Or do I just imagine my arms grabbing rope (or anything else). I have the same misunderstanding about rolling out or sitting up to get out.

Hello everyone, my name is Rob. I have been "into" all things metaphysical and "alternative" pretty much all my life. I have always believed strongly in the paranormal, and even have experienced things myself which I can hardly explain but understand, if that makes sense? I have also alot of research on eastern philosophies, and tend to identify with Taoism more and more everyday. Along with that, as a musician, and I'm sure any other musician will tell you too, I've experienced "the zone" many many times. very much looking forward to exploring and benefitting from all the great info here!
