Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / meditation
December 02, 2004, 01:01:19
Meditation is being, without attatchment. It's not explainable in words, you have to experience for yourself, so get to it! One pointed thinking sort of...meh, it's not explainable. All i can tell you, is that meditation is the best 'thing' i've ever decided to do. I've said to much already. Buy a good book on it, or read some of the many sites online. Also, reading about it does you no good, you have to actually practice and commit yourself.  Me, Myself, and God.

Right on, thanks for the reply. That's a nice way to think about it. It truely was a beautiful/spiritual experience, and i will take it for what it is. Any more comments anyone? Thanks again, peace.

I was just wondering about what it would be like to meditate in a dream and i remembered a dream of mine from 6 or 7 months ago. In the dream i was this colorful band of energy and i merged with the very old, wise tree, and started going throughout its branches. When i reached the tips of all the branches, i experienced something divine. Oneness, cosmic consciousness, universal awareness. It was the most beautiful dream i've ever had. Anyone have experience with meditation in the dream world? Any differences and such? Sorry for the vagueness, but i'm excited at the thought and am not good at describing or labeling things.

Well thank you guys very much for the help! I knew my spelling errors when i wrote them, but it was easy to read right? Anyways, like fallnangel said, it would almost be worthless to clean this living room (it isn't dirty, just cluttered), because my friends would mess it up again, we've gone through it many times. I want to keep my eyes open because the texts i'm following say it's easier to be present. I will take your advice and place crystals around my meditation spot. The bathroom idea is good too, i've thought of that but thought it'd be silly. I think that's where i'll have my meditation session, in my bathroom. Only way i'll get interrupted is if someone needs to use the pot :p Thanks again guys, love ya.

Ok, so i have a really cluttered house and 3 people live with me and it's going to stay cluttered for sure. I don't have a room currently, i sleep on the couch. I need a place for meditation where i can sit down on my sitting pad and be still. I've heard and read that your meditation room should be kept tip top, and not cluttered, so i'm in an odd situation. What do you think i should do? Try to clean this cluttered living room (it'd take a whole day)? I think i just found the answer, lol. That sounds like a good bet, but any comments, or questions?

To him it could have been a divine moment in eternity :D All moments have equally the same potential, some just choose not to harness that.

That's cool, i can definitely relate. My post, 3 or 4 posts down, describes the dream i had not too long ago, and it was very vivid. When i woke up the next morning, i was intriuged to say the least. The whole day i felt good and i was infatuated with the dream (btw, i'm 16). Not to hijack your topic, but a few days back i had a dream that i i was standing outside in front of my garage, and cd's were being sold from inside it. I was standing with my good old friend i haven't seen in months, and i was buying a cd, and my friend asked if i'd buy him one too. I didn't have the money, but i said yes, and thought about stealing money from my mother (which i would never do). Sort of relates to your dream. Interesting

Sounds like an odd situation. One thing i've noticed, is that if your mind is looking for patterns, it really isn't hard to find them. One day i was thinking of the number seven, and the first 5 or 6 signs i seen on the road, all added up to the number 7. I felt really odd as i'm sure you do, but my case was probably just my mind being aware of patterns or something. Yours sounds like a deeper case, i'm interested in the results of this though. Keep us posted.

Welcome to Dreams! / interesting dream of mine
November 01, 2004, 04:44:13
About 4 days ago, i woke up to a memory of the most vivid dream. I've been infatuated/scared with it since. Here is what i wrote down in my dream journal:

Andrew (my best friend) and i had set up over phone that i was going to jack Angelos (a nearby music store that has bongs) for pricey bongs. I was walking down the street at night by myself, pondering the situation. I was thinking that it might all be a dream, and that i might not of called andrew for the getaway. Immediately i was shifted into a hippy van with Jessica (a neighbor friend of mine that i really like) and we were smoking pot. I decided to steal this kids bike who's house we were in front of. I stole the bike, rode around on it for a while, then decided not to take it and to just leave it there. I was shifted into Angelos (the music store) where i was looking at nice bongs with my empty backpack on. I slid open the glass case and rapidly started loading bongs and bubblers into my backpack. I walked to the door, panicked because of the alarm system, set my backpack next to the door, and left. I was shifted into late night in front of Angelos, which appeared to be closed with nobody inside. I thought about how my friend Andrew might trade me a few ounces of salvia for a bong. A young male and female walked by as i opened the door to Angelos (even though it was closed). I picked up my backpack and somehow handed it to the female outside of the theft alarm, then she handed it back to me, she laughed and walked off with the male. I began to run slowly away from the store, being weighted down by all of the glassware. When i was about 150 feet away from the store, a large dark skinned (mexican looking) man with long dred locks yelled "Marcus R****! The police are going to cross paths with you!". For some reason i figured he read my name on the backpack and somehow tried setting me up to get caught. I proceeded to run, very very slowly and the guy was catching up to me. He then stopped and disappeared. I knelt down on the ground and opened up my backpack and removed a little broken red bong and layed it on the street. I was shifted back into my house, in the living room, and i sat on the computer. I heard a knock on my back patio door (which is inaccessible to public), and somehow i knew it was the kid who i stole the bike from's mom. I told my sister to go answer the door and to tell her that i was somebody else and that i wasn't here. The thing was, was that the lady could see me on the computer from where she was, so my sister let her in. She walked towards me with an uneasy face, and sat down next to me. She proceeded to give me really odd looks without saying a word. I woke up.

This was such an odd dream to me. First of all it was way more vivid than most dreams i have, and i could hear my thoughts in the dream exactly. Secondly, i'm not a person to steal like that (yet i do some illegal smoking activity otherwise), and the big man yelled my first and last name "Marcus R****, the police are going to cross paths with you!". Him saying that has had me nervous, like it was a sign or something. I was also thinking about how in the dream i asked myself if it was a dream (and if i would have said yes, i could have gone lucid and taken control), and i denied it because it was too real. I have yet to have a lucid dream, so this is a huge stepping point.

Hehe, another thing worth mentioning, is last night (the 30th) i went to this really good college party and late at night it got busted up by the cops. I was really really drunk and had to walk past the cops to my vehicle. I then had to come back to the house to use a phone, and a lady cop told me no, to leave. So i left :p

Wow, that's really helpful information. Thank you very much, i will look into this.

I agree, yet i meant that my astral projection 'work' should be much easier after much meditation. Not that meditation will bring me to these planes, but help me with my energy, and many other things needed for astral projection. Thank you for your reply.

This is a one of a kind book by Alan Watts that i picked up a few weeks back. Alan Watts (if you don't already know who he was), was an english Daoist/Buddhist philosopher. His writings word things like no one ever before, and sometimes it sends a chill down my spine. In this book, he unravels the truth about who you really are. I can relate to this book very much, because i myself am buddhist, so it was an easy read. I recommend this book to anybody though, buddhist or not, as it is an eye opener. It unfolds how the ego came to be, and how you been playing hide and seek with yourself (in which you are God if you will) for thousands of years. This book led me to the thought of how close archaic man was to God. Back then, they may not have believed they themselves actually were God, but their egos were nearly unformed, and society hadn't taken ahold yet. I'm not too good with these book reviews, so sorry if this is lame, but you really should pick up this book. It could surely be a life changer.

I'm about halfway through this book, and it is such a phenomenal read if you're into psychedelics, spiritualism, or the 60's. It details Leary's experiences with many wonderful people and psychedelics in the 60's. Each chapter starts with an I Ching reference, in which the chapter kind of binds to on it's own. Each chapter has a different 'trip guide' such as Allen Ginsberg, Krishna, Alan Watts, and many other people, who pretty much lead the chapter. Leary writes of when he first ecountered the mushroom, then making a group near harvard who experimented with them. He writes on LSD, and DMT. What his family went through, what the country went through, his thoughts on society, and many more topics. Definitely worth the cover price.

Hello all, i've been a member here for probably about a year (EDIT: 6 months :) ), but haven't posted in months. Nice to be back. I've decided to take a break from my astral projection excercises, and work on meditation. To me, meditation is the key to accessing higher planes of consciousness. I'm sure that if i meditate long enough, i too can see the same planes RB does. Anybody in aggreeance that meditation is the key?

If anybody's is interested, i would love to arrange for someone to project and visit me while i am fully awake (or in a trance state). You could possibly tell me what i'm doing at the time, and i will see if i experience anything such as tingling, or partial astral sight, or other phenomena. I can give pics, personal info, address, or anything else needed...interested?
#17
Ok, i was just thinking about the ability to have astral sight. When you project to higher planes of existance, YOU are also part of that higher existance correct? Well if you are not out of your body, and are using astral sight to see projected higher entities, wouldn't you also be able to see the astral plane that it/she/he is on? I'm confused.

Well, i'm looking for something to live for, maybe a purpose in life. Reading Astral Dynamics excites me so much, and his accounts are unreal. I'm looking for some verification of some sort, while i'm reading the book. Don't get me wrong, i'm infinitely patient, but lately things have taken a weird turn. Have your accounts in the different astral planes coincided or verified RB's views? Peace

If you guys haven't heard of Carlos Castaneda, he has many great books (he really is a great writer) about various half fiction, half fact books about paranormal stuff. This books take you on his 5 years journey initiation to become a shaman. I was interested in shamanism before this book and knew quite a few facts about it, and how it usually goes on with many tribes. It was a great read, i didn't want to put it down. But don't expect accurate shamanism info, because it doesn't have much of it. It's more of an allegory, and you can take meaning from it. In the end, a few things struck me as odd, and left me with a few questions (a good thing). Castaneda makes you wonder if don Juan is playing mind games, trickery, or teaching him something other than he really thought. I recommend anyone read this book (unless you really don't like reading about drugs), and it is only $6.99. Peace

I just went and bought myself two new books tonight, even though i still have plenty more to read. Be Here Now is a book that first explains this guys life up until the seventies when he met Tim Leary and Ralph Metzner. He started experimenting with psychedelics and it lead him on a new life path. He left psychology and college, and went to India and became a disciple of a yogi. The next largest portion of the books details how to 'be here now' with rather odd analogies accompanied by odd pictures. I've read 40 or so pages and am to the second portion and so far it is great. The third section actually explains how to live a spiritual life according to his beliefs recieved in India; it tells of meditation, yoga, dance, love, and many other things. I'd already recommend it after reading that little bit. A friend of mine has read the whole thing and highly recommends it.

The other book i got (don't remember the title, and am too high to go get it [:o)] ) is Carl G. Jungs last work before he died i believe. It explains almost all of his work and ideas in terms that an average adult can read and understand. I've only read the introduction, but i've heard many great things about Jungs ideas dealing with archetypes and the collective conscienceness.

I'll report back when i read more into these books. Peace

I let a friend borrow my copy of Astral Dynamics a couple months back because i wasn't using it at the time and had other books to read. Now when i really want to read it, he's only half way through (i'm not mad or anything). I've heard that meditation is a great help with AP, and since i'm going to be able to meditate soon, i was wondering how big of an impact it has on APing. Does it help with AP a great amount, or is it just something that mildly helps? Peace

Just wondering which people think is more vast and interesting. I have lot's of experience with psychedelics and think that we have barely touched the surface of what it has to give. DMT is a very spiritual drug that i've used that shows me just how vast psychedelics are. I don't have any experience with OOBE, or AP (yet), but realize how vast these things are. Peace
#23
I've only read about 1/4 of Astral Dynamics, but have skipped ahead a little to read his AP accounts. The way that he describes the astral plane is amazing. Has anybody else experienced the astral plane as he describes it? Such as seeing a 2d design, and entering part of it, leading to an astral realm. Thanks

Welcome to Book Reviews! / Food of the Gods
March 12, 2004, 12:45:12
Food of the Gods, by Terence Mckenna is a really awesome book that looks back at human history, impliments psychedelics into it, and comes out with awesome insights as to the true nature of human evolution, and what's to come in the future. He explains how we need to change from our dominator style culture to a human/plant symbiotic relationship (also known as an archaic revival). I'd recommend it to anyone interested in psychedelics, human evolution, human and plant symbiosis, or if you just want another awesome read. Terence Mckenna was a very smart man with many of great viewpoints. I'd also recommend his books Archaic Revival, and True Hallucinations. Peace

Hello everyone! This is my first post on these forums, and it's nice to see so many AP's! Just thought i'd say that i'm only 15, and have the pleasure of starting AP young. I've been interested in AP for about 2, maybe 3 years, but just recently started practicing techniques. I picked up Astral Dynamics, and find it a very informative guide to AP. I haven't yet had an OBE (at least that i can remember :D ), but plan on exploring this for many years. I haven't met anybody my age that uses AP, so i feel kinda lucky to be able to start young. I've read quite a bit on AP in the past couple of years and feel confident in myself to do this...any advice? Peace
