I've heard those times when you kind of violently shake awake from sleep is actually your astral body returning to your physical body. True?

If it's true, then I have another question. Say you have never consciously had an OBE, but you hope to one day have one. In the meantime, you do have those sudden jerks while in bed. That would mean you were actually astrally traveling. Say you can finally be in control when you have them - is it possible to run into entities that already know you from previous APs? If so, how does that get reconciled? Do you remember the entity and memories?

I've been lurking on this forum for about a week. I've been interested but didn't really have much to say. But last night, I visited the forum before bed. I mentally told myself before falling asleep that I would have a lucid dream (I think I said, 'I will be in control in my dream.')

Well, I wasn't in control totally. It was a very vivid dream though I don't remember it all now. Only one part was very important that I remember. This was it:

I was laying down on my back. I closed my eyes and willed myself to project. I did project. It was like my soul or inner mind left my body. However, I only floated a few inches above and was facing my real body, not the ceiling. I "opened my eyes" and once I saw my physical body, I was scared and violently snapped back. My eyes flew open (in the dream) and I told myself that I MUST remember this when I wake up (as if I knew I was sleeping). However, when I woke up I was disappointed. It was just a dream within a dream.

Any thoughts on this? My skeptical brain tells me I was thinking about astral travel before bed and thus dreamed of it.

As an introduction, briefly: I was raised Christian. I was skeptical from a young age. As a teen, I was interested in everything New Age. However, I became skeptical of that too. For the past ten years, I have transitioned from Agnosticism to Athiesm. However, I've decided to take a second look at everything I've chosen not to believe in simply because I have no proof. I'd like to think it's simple: if it was real, science would prove it. But science sometimes takes a while to catch up. I'm willing to admit there may be more to this life than random chance and evolution.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm enjoying reading everything here.
