You passed out.  :)

Remaining consciously aware or not... you passed out.

I thought there was no awareness in passing out only loss of consciousness

With thought and emotion present it's hardly a nothingness. Can you elaborate?

Basically all body sensations were stripped away leaving only thought and emotion in a total blackness.

Recently I had a period where my breathing started to slow down and a warm feeling came over me. The feeling spread and everything turned white followed by a strong vibrating feeling. There was a brief moment of unconsciousness which ended up in total nothingness with only thought and emotion present.

Any thoughts would be welcome

i'm not too sure. My best guess is the whiter the light, the higher the frequency of mind. Didn't want to persue it too far in case I didn't come back

Hi, it's been a while since I last posted but here are some experiences I thought would be worth recounting

One night I was sat relaxing on the sofa just listening to music then I began to feel a pleasant comforting warmth which started off as mild.

It then grew stronger and stronger and everything around me turned into white and I felt my entire being vibrate and I passed out. I came around bemused but fine.

Later I experienced a dream where live fish were coming from my mouth and then the entire dream went completely white along with a crucifix in the centre. A still image then appear with a man standing next to a well. I asked "Are you Gabriel?" and the answer came back "Ariel" at which point the shock woke me up

I now can see light coming from my body and it is flashing on occasions

Any thoughts would be welcome

Hi,
I have been experiencing the same thing ever since I was attuned to Reiki. They are more clearly visible  when settling down to sleep in near darkness. One recently appeared strongly like a flash bulb going off.

Anyway, I'm inclined to think they are related to the opening/open crown chakra and possibly spirit trying to get me comfortable with their presence.

Yeah, Ghost. That does sound like the same thing. It is like being fully conscious in complete darkness with the suction feeling. My instinct was to fight it out of fear I was dying or something but I remember reading in a Munroe book about a stage in AP which seems to fit this pattern. I have experienced this conscious void before but without any suction and I was fully calm in that instance. I gave up trying to hold consciousness while falling asleep ( Mainly because it seemed to be quite tiring)and haven't been trying to project for a long time but maybe my subconscious still has the desire to achieve it.

I'm sort of wondering now if it was a leaving of the body or being pulled back in. I don't recall anything before I became aware in the dark area (I don't know what else to call it other than being in a spacious nothingness) Hopefully now I have experienced the sensation it should become familiar enough so I can let it run without fighting it.
#9
I would say it was complete nothingness as though the only thing there was my awareness and the suction feeling. Like being nowhere at all.

After being awake all night I went to bed around 9.30pm the next day and went to sleep as normal except I became aware of being in total darkness and had a feeling almost like my whole being was being sucked away somewhere and I had an automatic fear response to fight it which brought me back to consciousness but with no mental strength to maintain it. I must have fell back to sleep as I can't remember any other problems from that point on.

I found this book to be easy to read and it covers quite a lot of areas to do with Buddhism(in fact there was a lot of information contained in here which I acquired through reading a lot of other books on the subject) It was good on price and it is also partially readable through google books which helped me decide whether to buy. Once read it also works as a good reference as it is easy to dip back into any of the individual sections. Definitely one to check out if you are interested in an easy read about Buddhism.

Thanks for that CF, I hadn't heard that term before. That's some more reading material for me to look up :-)

I have had this happen to me a couple of times and it is odd to watch the dream dissolve and waking reality come into view.

The best way I can describe it is when people see something then feel an instant reaction which could result in them instantly thinking a comment but not verbalising it(if that makes any sense). I wondered whether I might have been picking up their feelings and somehow translating it into words which I heard. I can't say I have ever read about anything like that before and it would be a bit odd to ask people whether they have just said something :-)

Is it possible to pick up individual thoughts from people nearby because I have had experiences where I have heard a comment from but I wasn't sure whether it was verbally said. It tends to be very direct comments people could normally think but keep to themselves in situations where I have never met or know the person. I'm just trying to decide whether it is a psychic issue or just that I have met rude people :|

Thanks for the response Silent.  I agree in regards to feeling uncomfortable myself about charging people for reiki although I paid for the 1st and 2nd level attunements I do fully accept that they gave me something that wasn't there before the attunements. I didn't have any beliefs regarding spiritual healing as I didn't even have an interest in that area and I took the attunements as a way of working on and hopefully clearing my own personal issues. Just to clarify  I would say my question refers whether there will be a greater interest in spirituality in the general population who currently dismiss or ridicule such things, and will reiki play a part in all that.  And just for the record, I'm in no way a new ager just someone who is open minded :-)
#17
Ok. I think that a definite no, then :-D Any more takers?
#18
did they give you an indication of what type of healer you are? There are things out there such as reiki which operates as a hands on and there are plenty of books available on this subject. Also there is a lot on the internet which can be researched which may help you out.

                                                                                                                               Regards

From all that I have read it seems to be a supposed raising of consciousness to a more spiritual level.
#20
Yeah I just read about it myself. It doesn't sound too scientific or a serious study into the subject, the story also implicated that if the results are negative then obes are nothing but hallucinations??

Is it possible to increase the flow to a higher level by reusing this symbol during a healing?
#22
A point I have considered is maybe those people who pick up new things almost through instinct, or those who are exceptionally gifted in certain areas, could they be tapping into previous life experience/knowledge which we all must aquire during the countless incarnations. This on the surface would make someone look like a genius or superhuman.

Hi
I read this recently and found it to be an interesting book which was easy to follow. There is another companion book called indestructible truth which I haven't read but would be happy to know if any others have read it. Both are written by Reginald A Ray.

Just finished reading this one. Dealing with Chan Buddhism (chinese zen) and written by Chan Master Sheng Yen this book is an easy read and I liked the way it addresses stages within meditation. It isn't too heavy on dogma explaining more about the practice of retreat and meditation in a straightforward manner.

Yeah, ET. I have been looking at the book you mentioned for a long time whenever i'm at the bookshop. I might get it eventually :-) A lot of books explain emptiness in the form of an analogy like "See form as a reflection in a mirror." Fair enough to understand an analogy but a reflection cannot be touched or felt so that produces more questions. I'm beginning to amass a lot of buddhist books because of all the questions :-)
