I've been training myself to go out of body for a couple of months now.  I've gotten to the point of some limited success, in that I can get out of body at least for 30seconds to a couple of minutes.

At this point something odd happens my mind flips back into the physcial while my astral body continues to project.  At this point there are 2 of me effectivly.  One thinking aware version in the physical and second astral version of me that seems to function completely independantly.  The astral version will then go off on its own and do who knows what.  meanwhile my physical me can get up and putter around waiting for it to come back.  It usually comes back in anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours and then reintegrates on its own whim.  I have no idea where it goes, and I don't have any memories of where its been once it comes back.

Has anyone had similar problems?  Any suggestion on how to keep my full mind in the astral body rather than having it split into two entieties?

Often in our culture when we talk about astral projection we think of rising, floating, or flying up into the air.  However in indians from South America often would "sink" into the ground in order to release from the physical rather than thinking for floating up.

Perhaps you are just more comfortable with sinking out of the body rather than floating up?
