hi!

One of my friends has become seriously ill (mentally). He is currently in college and lives in a hostel. He has been behaving strangely for quite a long time (about 3-4 months). He has been going through a rough time academically and has not been doing too well. He also started isolating himself. Things came to a head about 5 days ago, when he started shouting loudly in the night without concern for who was watching him.

The shouting incident:
He started bad-mouthing an Indian painter called M.F.Hussain, who drew nude pictures of Sita (Lord Rama's consort and an Indian goddess). He had completely lost his senses as to who was watching him. This continued for more than an hour and a half.

The next day, I heard of the incident and went to see him. He behaved extremely strangely. He had a brand new pencil in his hand, with which he was trying to write in the air. At other times, he would place it in his mouth and look at me sideways. He skipped ahead on the road like a child, all the time oblivious that I was at his side. When I would talk to him, he would keep asking why I was following him or why I was asking him questions. He then told me that he could summon Sita at any time he wished. I asked him how he could do that and he told me that I should paint. He was also trying to compose poetry in Sanskrit. Repeatedly, he was talking about Kali, Kalidas and Kalachakra. When we sat down, he pointed behind me and asked if I could see a golden peacock. Other similar incidents followed.

He started dancing in public and had to be calmed down and brought back. His reaction time has become very slow and he forgets things. He keeps running away from people saying that he has to think.

Well, so those are the symptoms.. Could somebody explain to me what the possible cause is??

You know, as an outsider, I'll tell you.. the countries involved are not anti US as has been noted. however there are other reasons why US is hated by so much of the world.

The problem is that the US political administration (not the common people mind you.. they are some of the nicest people) thinks that it is its job to interfere in every event that takes place in the world. Invading Iraq was one of the most disgusting acts that the US could ever do (you might differ... but this is my opinion). The Vietnam war with blatant disregard for human rights.. these acts are etched in people's mind. Tacit support to Israel in the Palestine conflict.. I could go on.. but I guess you get the point.

However, I increasingly find that even common people in the US think that the US is fit to be the undisputed controller of the world. Taking democracy to a global level, if a country or a group of people want to have a dictatorship, it is upto them and none of the US's concern. Of course, power has always been misused and this has always caused antagonism from time immemorial. It is this kind of antagonism that ultimately leads to the dethroning of those in power completing the cycle of power.

Ohh.. and so I want to say that there is no point in arguing that any religion is superior or inferior. If you want to believe in it, go ahead. But don't ridicule the beliefs of others. My post was not intended to ridicule the Abrahamic religions but merely to point out some reasons why people might not want to follow these and such people are well within their rights to switch to a faith system that suits them better to achieve the ultimate purpose of life.

I'll point out some glaring errors imo in the Abrahamic religons (islam, christianity, judaism):

1) They believe that one path is for all. The religion should be flexible to accomadate different types of people.. people with varying beliefs and faiths. This is essential because all people are not same. I might like a certain food,, while you might not. There is no point on arguing that the food you eat is better or the food that I is better. GOD should be within the reach of everybody. It is insanely wrong to say that an atheist should suffer and not have a chance at GOD realization. For such a person, his path must be such that it does not contradict with his faith system (in this example, that he does not believe in GOD). As he progresses along his path, he himself should be able to realize the existence of GOD and the unity of nature. Religion should be accesible to people. There is no point in forcing the same ideas on every person. This is the single most important reason that Christians feel confused by their faith. Customization is the thing.

2) These religions are derived from a single source of authority... some prophet of GOD. Although I have no problem with this, I have often found this leading to problems. In fact the start of this thread was exactly due to such a problem. If somebody cast aspersions on the character of the Prophet, the religion is then on shaky ground. So in that sense, the single source of authority is bad.

3) These religions were preached at a particular time for a particular region. To assert that those very same ideas should today be followed without change is imo blatantly ridiculous.

dan, as people have already said, your beliefs are quite similar to the tantric philosophy of siva and sakthi. they are the masculine and feminine aspects of god. however, you might want to check out
http://www.selectsmart.com/RELIGION/.

This site asks you a series of questions (about your beliefs) and then shows you the religions that best suit you. this might give you a nice way to explore your own beliefs and come up with a religion suiting your belief system.

this is the most pathetic  thing that i ever heard.. narrowpath surely has a narrow mind if not anything else.. one can contort any statement to suit himself.. there is no point in suggesting that interpretations such as these have any meaning at all..

narrowpath, if you believe in jesus.. god for you. but you have no right to say that christianity is superior. each religion came up according to the needs of the people at a particular place and time. so each religion is important in its own way. to suggest that christianity is the way is blatant  dogmatism and sheer stupidity. i know so many chrisitians who are not satisfied with the ideas of christianity. why? only because one religion and one idea does not suit all.. just like the same shirt cannot be worn by all..

cyro, you might be able to get the books for free. i searched the net and found most of crowley's books available for free. i don't know if the one with this 'jenus' thingie is available, but most of his books are. a preliminary search of google would get you there.

I remember reading in Swami Sivananda's writings about this. He said that sungazing was an extreme form of tratak (gazing unblinkingly at the same spot) which should be attempted only with the help of a guru. The guru would apply some kind of oil to cool the eyes.

This, you will find in the divine life society's books section (http://www.dlshq.org/download/download.htm). Look for the book on Kundalini Yoga.

Also,  I think one must be wary of treating spiritual knowledge as something that can be bought. It is priceless and one should treat it so.  I basically believe that if one practices long enough, he will know and will be guided by his guru.

I must also add that, being scientific is good, but ridiculing others beliefs isn't.

There are quite a lot of email viruses out there, that mail from a random email address (gathered from address books and even webpages) to a random email address. So, I guess Sage Daedalus, received such an email.
I hope Sage didn't open the attachment, as this would result in further propagation of the virus.

QuoteThis is interesting, how did you start consciously looking for auras blackgen?

Well.. actually.. at the same time that I found robert bruce's docs on auras.. i also found another site... www.vision3d.com.. the site has exercises to develop peripheral vision..

From rb's docs.. i understood that one needs to view auras with peripheral vision... after that.. it was just a matter of 'looking for auras'

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / aura outlines

I started consciously looking for auras sometime back. I decided that I could see them and as often happens in such cases,  I have gotten to the point where I think I can see atleast see some of the aura.

However, whenever I see the aura, it has only one colour to it... either golden or silver. This is irrespective of the person whose aura I'm trying to see. So I am a bit confused, as to whether it is actually their aura or whether it's just my 'imagination'. Once I start seeing somebody's 'aura', it kind of refuses to go away, meaning, if I see something else and again look at the person, the 'aura' comes back pretty quickly. So, am I seeing auras? If I am, where are all the colours that I am supposed to be seeing?
