Hi to everyone,
I had this experience before I read about a similar subject in Robert's book.  I'll just keep to the part that's relevant here.
I was on a grid block in this particular plane.  I announced, "Here it comes!", as this wind-like force came through.  Grid blocks around me sunk downwards, but mine did not.  I bent to my right side at an extreme angle as this force swept over me, but I remained on my block.  I said to my companions, who checked with me afterwards, "I was able to survive that one!" While the whole thing was occurring, I was observing myself from a distance, while also experiencing the force of this wind while standing steadfast on the block.
Afterwards, physical awake state, I wondered what that wind was all about.  Then I obtained Robert's book and thought, hmmm, somewhere there's a link.
However, I recently had another experience, which made me think of the  Astral Wind/Astral Pulse phenomena.
Upon willingly choosing to exit a lucid dream, I went directly into a vision, (not expecting that and still pondering the vision!), when I became aware of a wind phenomena.  This caused me to end my observation of the object in the vision.  I then got sucked away, feeling and seeing my brow/crown vibrations, and then I helplessly exited into a somewhat misty tunnel of light.  I went right to awake in the physical after that.
I thought it was pretty interesting, not only because of what I perceived to be the wind action, but also because I sequentially experienced three distinct states.
Anyway, I'm new to this forum and I just thought I'd share.  And I'm happy just to find somewhere to do so.

Welcome to Dreams! / Negative afterimages

Greetings all,

After having to quickly exit a lucid dream state directly to an awake state, I experienced negative afterimages of the dream environment.  I thought this was interesting, and did a little research on the phenomena.  Prolonged stimulation by a bright image, such as a light source, desensitizes part of the retina, which retains the image that appears as the negative afterimage.  I thought, could this be a way to prove the 'physical' validity of the lucid or of any dream state?  Further investigation shows that experiencing afterimages is also indicative of something called HPPD, or Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder, a visual disorder with psychological implications!  Frankly, all I did was wake up, so I discounted that diagnosis as definitely not applying to myself!
Anyone with a similar experience?

Hello Wisp,
Light enters the eye and produces chemical changes in the retina.  Prolonged stimulation by a bright image desensitizes part of the retina, so that it does not process new input as well as the rest of the retina.  The desensitized area appears as a negative afterimage, which lasts 30 seconds or so.  When such an "illusion" persists, it is considered a disorder by the American Psychiatric Association!  The diagnostic criteria is defined here-http://hppdonline.com/diagnostic.php.
I thought it was rather interesting that my lucid dream had enough substance, in this case, light, that it produced chemical changes in my retina to the point that when I went immediately to an awake state, I was seeing afterimages of my dream!
I guess that anything that can't be rationally explained, somehow becomes a disorder.  That is something, of course, that I don't agree with.  But then again, maybe someday, science will walk down that road and take a closer look at what this phenomena really consists of.
