Quote from: SpectralDragonAbout cluttered rooms: actually, this causes malignant atmosphere and is not very healthy for you in general. It is better to keep a nice, tidy room I noticed otherwise your mood will drop (causing meditation problems) and you will be bothered by negative earthbound spirits (which where drawn by the negative atmosphere) these are generally like mosquitoes and not even as annoying but overtime it does get pretty bad I noticed.

hm. i dont buy into that. I live in a single room studio, and being a designer, i have art supplies and computer equipment whereever it fits. My space is cluttered, but this is one of the best places for energy raising that I have been in. Its my happy home, its a mess, but the love here is strong. And I think thats the important thing, how do YOU feel about the space, regardless of what is in it? There are places, such as my mom's house, that are stringently clean, but I have had a hard time concentrating and raising energy because the vibe in the house is one of dysfunctionality.
I recommend trying outdoors in a varation of areas. I have found a spot (in north florida, US) in the woods outside of town, that used to be Native American village. They stopped exavating the site, and now its open to the public. This is where I go when I really want to get the juices flowing. No interruptions, no city noise, just nature and a great flow of energy.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / meditation

meditation is different for everyone, because we are all individuals and meditation is just an extension of self. There are many methods, many suggestions, but when it comes down to it, its really just way to relax and let your mind process work. Do what comes natural to you, then research and try different ideas and embrace what works for you. Good luck!

Yup, a natural for sure.  :D

Fear.
After having sleep paralysis since I was 14, I went 8 years afraid to fall asleep those nights I knew it was going to happen. Sound familiar? :D
Then, I reached a point in my life where I embraced fear as a release from deep dark depression. Depression for me is monotinous, drudge along through the same ole day in, day out. So I thought, "Well, better to escape this and be afraid, it will be a welcome change of pace." And thats when I realized, I had nothing to fear in the first place! Fear of the unknown...what happens when you explore the unknown? Its ceases to be unknown and the fear associated with it goes right out the window!
I hope you get that Im trying to keep this light and fun for a reason, because thats what happened with my OBE experiences once I researched them, and found Astral Dynamics. Hearing that others went through the same dread of sleep that I went through was some how reassuring. I learned that through meditation, I could control the energy flux that was causing me to spontaniously project, and regulate it through proper usage like attataining concious projection. What a relief, and I think it truly led me to a path in life that I have enjoyed much more.
A big thing to remember, that when you are projecting, its late at night and bound to be dark. One of the best remedy to the fear of projection was having a day projection.
I really reccomend getting a copy of "Astral Dynamics" and working with your ability rather than trying to fight off what your body is naturally telling you to do.
here to help in anyway I can... :D  :D

Hey Leprechaun, as someone who dealt with a lot of the same problems it sounds like you are dealing with, please let me convince you to seek out some council. Maybe you already have someone you can talk to, but the important thing is you are able to talk through those feelings of suicide.
I would also like to impress on you the power of self. If you steel yourself to others words, its easy to avoid their actions. If you accept your reality as a constantly changing atmosphere, you'll come to realize that these are the hardest years for teens. Yet you cant stop time and soon things will come to pass. Believe in yourself, and work towards a goal. Meditation is a good way to work through your issues, but its only an means to an end. Which is living a healthy life, emotionally and physically and most important spiritually.

mmm i love some hemi-sync! :D

hearing that type of sounds immediately sets my dial to relax-mode!

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / OBE Problem

Keep practicing!
Make sure youre storing enough energy!
Eliminate distractions!
Work on self-assurance to battle fears!

In other words, just stay on the path you are on. Dont get desperate or irritated as this will just prolong things, IMHO. Stay positive and light, and be thankful that we have the time and the good mind to be able to relax and explore!

i agree, that sounds like a good middle road to me. :D

Welcome to News and Media! / Toxic Life
November 01, 2004, 10:44:42
i recently made the switch to beign a vegan. no animal by-products at all. I feel better than I have in a long time. Before I made the switch, I talked to a nutritionist I know who helped me with the foods I would need to eat to replace protiens and so forth.
Mostly, the big difference has been thinking and planning before I am eating. It used to be, I wanted it, Id grab it and eat. No thought process at all.
Now, I have to plan meals, snacks, and whatever because of preparation time.
I think it was Don Juan in a Castanada book who said something to the effect, "Always be aware of what you are doing", and I wasnt doiing that with eating before.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Fear of OBEs

day time projections for novice projectors. get safe in the light, and you feel better about nighttime projections.
im repeating myself from another thread, but it works!

Quote from: G3MM4if I astral project consciously, I always feel fear, although I don't know why. It's fine if it's an unconscious projection except for if it doesn't feel right.

This worries me. What are you afraid of?
One thing to remember, and I cant stress this enough for novice projectors.
Project during the day. You might find youre less afraid because its not the dark of night, and you can see better. Sounds so obvious, but once i did day projection everything changed for me.

brian, welcome.

i will answer any questions you have to the full extent of my ability.
#12
interesting.

I have never fought my exits. When I feel a spontanious exit getting ready to happen, I batten down the hatches and get ready for a wild ride. Somehow I feel a spontanious exit isnt spontanious at all, but that my body knows what it is doing and maybe has some kind of need that a projection will solve. I trust my body and self, and know that there are reasons things happen i will never understand, and as a intermediate projector I never fear leaving my body, but welcome the chance to do so without having to meditate for half an hour.  Call it a "astral quickie" if you will...:)

Work on your confidence level is my advice.

Thanks alot frank, very informative and eye opening.
Heres a breif account of something akin to the worse case scenrio...

I was staying with my mom at the time, she lives in a nice middle class suburb. I projected out and strolled through the neighborhood for awhile, and trying out the flying techinique RB details in Astral Dynamics. Thats when a certain house caught my attention.
And this is how it usually happens for me. Among many houses, there is one that my attention is drawn to. The song from Sesame Street "One of these things is doing there own thing, one of these things isnt the same" always rings thru my head when I see the particular house.
This house was very posh and large, in a neighborhood of modest middle size houses. Its size was very intriguing to me so I stepped around the back to get a better look. When i got to the back of the house, I noticed some kids playing in a swimming pool at the house next door. I asked the kids if they had anything to tell me, and they sorta just looked at me with sad eyes as if to say, "We know what you are about to do, and its not good."
I guess some others would have taken this as omen, but I just knew I had to enter the house. I walked in the back door into the kitchen and everything seemed alright. No one walking around, nothing amiss. I found the stair case and walked up stairs which opened on a large room. And there was the most horrific scene I believe I had ever witnessed.
Blood. Lots of it, everywhere. Blood on the walls, blood puddled on the floor, and somewhere someone was moaning. There was a table saw in the middle of the room, obviously the instrument of death. I bolted out back down the stair and out of the house. The kids next door were gone and they were all I wanted to see. The projection ended there.
3 years later and that image of the bloody room is burned in my head. I cant watch movies with excessive blood anymore, it completely freaks me out.
I journeyed that neighborhood for quite awhile during my stay at my mom's, but I never saw that house again.

1. I prefer the term "projector" or "astral traveler" but thats neither here nor there. Yes, I am an OBE'er.

2. Ive been consciously projecting for 4 years, but my first experience was sleep paralysis 15 years ago.

3. I have had access to them but chose not to look, I didnt feel I had advanced far enough in this life to start to ponder my past lives.

4. I have had contact with "other" beings. "Higher" is a word I frown upon as it detracts from the notion of self. Some of the beings I have had contact with were definitely more powerful than I, in the sense you seek. But i believe you must see yourself as first and foremost in order to achieve your goals. This doesnt mean to condescend to others, but inversely that. If you value self above all else, you have the ability to value all others equal to self. After all, we are all one, are we not? :)

5. My abilities manifested during puberty. It started with sleep paralysis and a few lucid dreams here and there. It confused and scared me, and instead of embracing it, i pushed it away. Until I became no longer scared of the unknown. At the time, any escape from reality was good for me, and it was during my early 20's i had my first OBE. I researched, found out about astral dynamics, and havent looked back.
I think my abilites are growing toward retrieval of lost souls, showing them path to move on.
Of note as well, my grandfather and father both had sleep paralysis well into their 40's. They too were scared and pushed it away for 20 odd years until it finally ceased. I think if they embraced it the way I did, they too would be natural astral travelers.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Sexual Supression
October 30, 2004, 12:30:34
Nope.
I take a very straight forward approach to sex. In this day and age, you have to, IMHO. There are too many pitfalls (ie STD's and unwanted pregnancy) that I could fall into that would make things worse. It seems to me rather than struggle with eastern philosophy regarding sex, you should take the rule that as with most good things, moderation is key.

I think we all find the lucid dream experience quite freeing. You feel as if there are no repurcussions for our actions, because after all it is just a dream, right??
I remember my first lucid dream, i was in a super-market. When i realized i was in complete control of my actions, and the other shoppers around me were completely oblivious I started throwing things. Anything I could find, I was throwing it. I was throwing stuff at shoppers and felt a satisfaction when I bonked off their heads. I think i threw a frozen turkey at an old lady and laughed when knocked her over.
This type of behavior wasnt my norm, but I felt it was ok because it was just a dream. As lucid dreaming carried over to conscious OBE's with the NEW method, I found myself acting more like myself. But there were times were I would still act out, the most memorable time being when I slapped a child upside the head who at play like a bully in the school yard.
Now i find myself trying to accomplish things and being held back from the guilt of these actions. I feel that my spirit guide wont fully support me until he feels like I have redeemed myself and put this behavior behind me.

I guess what Im trying to say is what I have found is there is always a price to pay for negative behavior. What constitutes bad behavior is a whole other discussion.
#17
now only if NEW could make my bank account increase.....sigh....

im not a man of words, and although i understand your question, a response from me would fall short.

I recommend you read "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce. Both issues you have posted can most probably be answered within the manuscript, not to mention countless other questions that will result from your answers.

One of the three people I had interaction with was as follows...

I live in Tallahassee Florida, and at the time was staying in house that was built in the 1920's. For some reason, my OBE's in this house were very strong and easy to obtain using my personalized version of NEW.
I would go OBE, and drift out of my bedroom window. As I have said, the basic structures of my neighborhood were pretty much the same. Except the house across the street. The house that should have been there, a new build in a neighborhood full of old houses from the '20s, wasnt. Instead, I encounter an old single story house, and felt that it was the house that should be there.
I went to the front door, knocked, and got no response. I opened the door, went in and found a elderly lady sitting on a couch. She was frightened to see me, and this made me feel like I was intruding. As a response to the elderly lady's fears, a young lady (early 20's i say) entered from another room. She first went to comfort the older lady, and then realized I was there. She said this was her grandmother and she was her caretaker. I got the feeling the older lady was sufffering from Alzheimers.
This was interesting to me. The younger lady told me they were dead, and this was were they resided. I told her that I was still alive and was projecting from the house across the street. She believed me and we discussed what it was like for me to encountering people I had never met.
Over a period of a year, I would visit the women across the street, having that feeling of never really knowing what to say to them. I sensed a strong bond between the two, but the granddaughter was sad she had to protect her grandmother and couldnt go on with the things she wanted for herself. But, she enjoyed my visits and the reprieve it provided her for caretaking after her grandmother, who eventually realized that I wasnt a threat and paid me no attention.

Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, and after reading thru the boards and the idea of retrieval, I do think this is what is beckoning me. Heres my problem....
I cant get back to them. It seems that the areas of the astral I am visiting is dependant on the house from which I am projecting. I want desperately  to help these women, as they have helped me in solidfying my OBE experiences in my own mind, as I was relatively new when I was visiting them.
I think a guide could help me with this, but my guide is....shall we say....fickle. On the few times I have asked for guidence, the result has been one where I sense a few people discussing if they should provide guidence or not. Twice, this has been provided, and each time my guide came to me under the guise of my older brother who passed to somehow ease my tensions of dealing with the spiritual higher-ups. This is an inhernet knowledge of mine, always after the fact. Little inconsistencies point out that in fact it wasnt my brother, and this has made me leary to deal with a guide.
This is, what I think, a result of my own making. I hesistate to say this, but sometimes I have been mischevious on the other side. Nothing horrible, but sometimes my actions are a result of feeling above karma. Although I know better, i say to myself "hey its not 'real life'" and do things I would never do in the physical. Few and inbetween, for example...

I have come back to projecting recently, and found that there are four people in the house next door when I project. They are two women and two men. I projected out this week to find them sitting on their front porch drinking and just killing time. I found the women attractive and could not resist the urge to pinch their rear-end. This is something I would never do  to a real woman. Their reaction was one of surprise and laughter. Yet, when I came back to, I really blasted myself for letting this happen. Somehow, I just know its wrong.

anyway, im rambling i guess. my point is, how do i get back to those i might help? Once i do, I think im pretty sure I can help them with the methods described here on the boards.

Hi all.
I wanted to recount my general OBE experience, because it has a reoccuring theme to it. Ive dubbed it "Houses of the Soul" mainly because this was something that stuck in my head everytime i would come to from an OBE.

First I want everyone to know that I consider myself a intermediate level projector. Its easy for me to project consciously and stay OBE, but I have issues with interpreting the experience and usually stay out of any kind of contact with people I meet in OBE. Something tells me that its time for that to change. I want to take an active role in my OBE, rather than just the 3rd person perspective. I want to help people in need of help, and I want to be able to communicate without the fear repercussions (my main reason for keeping out of contact with those i see).

So lets get to it....heres my usual event.....

After running my energy circuit and storing up some reserves, I slip right out of body. I proceed to the closest window and exit my house. Now what stands in front of me is dependant on where my physical is, meaning the outside of the house and neighborhood is usually the same. Then I stroll down the street looking for a house to enter. At this point, the similarities of the actual neighborhood and where I am OBE at stop.
Then I pick a house to enter, go up to the front door. I knock. Sometimes people will answer the door, other times not. Depends on the house im guessing. If someone answers the door, I usually ask to enter and have never been denied entry that I can remember. If no one answers I try to open the door and have a look around.
If i have entered the house at this point, I tend to become the observer (and oh the things ive seen....). I will look around the house, listening and watching. Sometimes, when I have let myself i will run into someone and try to explain myself (with varied results).  Usually, after I feel I have seen all to be seen, I will exit the house and continue down the street.

There have been three houses that I have returned to multiple times because the folks I have met there asked me to. These three are the only times I find I have engaged in a conversation with the people I had met.  In each case, they seem lonely and glad to have someone to talk to.

So, I ask you guys to think about this and respond with the direction you think I might take to become more a active participant in dealing with the people I meet in OBE.

thanks!

"astral vision" is what RB calls this right??

a good test of this (as cube said in another thread i believe) is to wear a sleep mask to bed. That way if you are looking straight up at the ceiling, you know its through the mask and therefor astral.

as someone who as just come back to projecting, i am really enjoying everyones intial problem posts because its helping me get back to where i was at and also to avoid those pothole prior to them happening.

Ill repeat what others have said here, BREATHE. A good technique i have found is this. I will start by raising my energy via a circular motion starting from the feet and rising to my head. Once i feel adequate energy from head to toe, I will begin moving the energy from left side to right side in tandem with my inhales and exhales. This will become overwhelming and soon after, one side will exit via arm or leg. THis technique has tremendously increased the time I am able to project, as well as the control I have over the perceptions (ie seeing, feeling) you are open too.
My problem was always that crazy astral wind blowing me right back into my body as soon as I exited, kinda of the opposite of feeling heavy :)

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / desperate
October 28, 2004, 18:02:49
whoa there pardner. take a deep breath. calm down and take a step back.
My first question is why are you so desperate to OBE again? Is something calling you or is it personal reasons?

Ive learned that something worth working at always has it rewards. Ive also learned the inverse, if something is too good to be true it probably is, is also true.

Instead of coming here asking for the quick fix, maybe its time to step up your routine some. Obviously something is holding you back , and its not your will to OBE that is for sure....
