Thank you!

I suck at this introduction stuff.

Im a 24 year old married female named Tristan. I work in the IT industry and joined this list after delivering my son two weeks ago.  I have been having OBE's since 14 years of age and spent 7 months of my pregnancy having none at all. As soon as my pregnancy ended, my OBE's returned.  Because of this, I am looking to get back into the swing of things so to speak. Relearn some techniques, deal with a few rocks here and there and hopefully be able to help others or offer my two cents.   7 months doesn't seem like a long time, but it was to me!

Cheers.

Clarification. I have felt the presense of other beings a number of times. (not sure if they were other people or what) but discussions and what not (implied in some kind of test) no.

Are you familiar with sleep paralysis?

As far as the last question, I have no idea. I've never recieved a "Test" per se in any of my OOBE's. In fact, I've been reading about peoples experiences about talking to little creatures, and I can't say thats ever happened to me either. I've listened to what I thought to be another "being" but that was only one time and during a very distressed period of my life and have assumed it to be another part of myself since given the attitude and personality of the "being" involved.

Cheers.

Ive had more luck with involuntary joint OBE's than voluntary ones :/

This one was when I lived with my mother about the age of 20 for a short period of time while my now husband and I were trying to get a new home.  This one was at night and started with the vibrations Ive mentioned several times already.
I awoke from a suction feeling from a similar feeling of an OBE where I was in my grandmothers bedroom next to her bedside. She was lying on
her right side and did not appear to be breathing. I screamed for her to wake up and when I touched her, I felt that suction thing where I couldnt breathe for a moment, the vibrations got louder, and I awoke quickly in
a terrified <understandably so if you love your grandma> state.
It was about 345-400am and I walked into the living room.  My mother was already up playing on the computer and tears poured as I told her about the dream.
I didnt think too much about OBE at that moment because I was focusing on the bad dream.
Since its her mother and she knows her mother has lung problems, she had me call her.
My Grandmother answered the phone and was coughing a lot when she picked up.
I told her about the dream and she informed me that she did wake up on her right side and shes not supposed to sleep on her right
side because her lungs start filling up with fluid.  She assured me shes ok though because she rarely has that problem.  <My grandfather confirmed this later>
It was no big surprise to her because she started astral projection at an early age.  Shes been my personal counselor in dealing
with this since it began.

I really hope you get that book I recommended. Your story is identical to Monroe's.

**I will definatly check into that**

QuoteI also saw you considered going a sleep lab. Quite likely, you will be diagnosed with 'some a-typical form of sleep paralysis or night terror', and that will only be the case if the person doing the diagnosing has some clue in the first place. The only medical treatment in that case is antidepressants, which in some cases can supress these type of experiences. That can be an option if you feel you really cannot live with this situation, but as I said before, I think a much better solution lies taking an active approach to controlling the vibrations, and exploring it further as you are doing presently.  :)

Have no plans to at this point and I was basically told the same thing. I have no interests in psychoactive drugs. I've been on Zoloft once for an anxiety issue.  I took myself off of it before we concieved my recently born son, Alexander  and was only on it a month anyway.  My anxiety probably contributes to my issues with the vibrations.  I don't want my OBE's to end, I just need to find ways to cope with the more violent evening vibrations, and my thanks again, to you for your tips on that. Perhaps that book will assist me.  I'm also a bit of a private person and most of my experiences are recounted to my family or anonymously elsewhere. Folks I've assisted with learning Astral Projection obviously know my history as well, but those are personal friends of mine.

The vibrations are hardly unfamiliar as I've been having them repeatedly since I was 14 (I'm now 24). They peaked sometime between 19-20.  went away during my pregnancy and now coming back.  Some periods of times are better than others. I think its a mindset. I'm going to try some meditation before bedtime, especially if I have that dull ringing in my ears that seems to occur on nights I have them before I go to bed.

Thanks again!

Thanks! Can you believe I attached my name to that? It wasn't so bad :) It took me a while to click submit though !

When I was 19 I moved in with my (now husband)  This was amost 5 years ago. He and I were sleeping on a bed (thank god eh?) in his apartment.  There was an alarm clock on the other side of the room that had been set for 6:30 AM and turned on. (Nothing changed from its normal setting)  The alarm clock normally goes on with the Radio Function.  I do this thing where I test it twice just to make sure I turned the alarm part on because Im paranoid about waking up late.  Since I was teaching a class of computer technicians, I had to be on time.

My now husband and I went to bed (he says about 11pm that night) Im assuming he remembers that detail accuratly cause I don't.
Anyway, I started having a series of strong vibrations which commonly plaque me at night and that I usually fight because of their intensity at nightime. This time, instead of having the chance to roll over several times unsuccessfully to stop them, I immediatly came out of body after a sudden oncoming of those vibrations.

To my left was a sword hanging on the wall, the blade end sticking straight up.  I looked over at my husband who was sleeping soundly and I couldn't see my body. I screamed at buddy to wake me up, but instead I hite this sword and shot straight up, I kept going and going up and faster. As this happened the vibrations got louder and stronger and I kept screaming wake me up wake me up wake me up NOW.

When I finally woke up in the bed, I was sitting straight up and the alarm was going off. Not in radio mode, but in buzzer mode. I hate that sound, but it will wake me up every time if it doesn't give me a damn nightmare first.

My husband was already awake and was questioning my screaming as he walked over to press the snooze button on the alarm. He assumed that it was 630 already and didn't have his glasses on anyway.  While I was watching him still in a daze, I stared at the clock while my skin seemed to get cold all of a sudden. "B--, its 3 17 am, why did you set the alarm for 3:17 am? and we turned it on radio, why did it go off?"   My husband put his glasses on and examined the alarm time, the time for the alarm was 6:30 am. He looked at the function settings, and it was set to radio.

He unplugged the alarm and threw it in the closet and we just stayed up the rest of the night.

I recounted my story to him as he still wanted to know what was wrong. He said that I sat up, had my eyes wide open and was yelling "Wake me up NOW" he said when I said Wake me up the second time right before I ended it with now the alarm went off.

That particiular scenario where the alarm clock has gone off hasn't happened in a long time, but I've since not had vibrations that violent and intense to scare me that bad since then.  I had a headache for two days from that and I refused to sleep the rest of the night or the next night (which was thankfully a friday)   I slept during the day instead.

-------
My husband has been encouraging me to share some of my experiences from the past as I will as I have time. To be honest, I'm hoping that sharing some of these will encourage me to feel more comfortable with some of the more intense ones that start off in the evening (see: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15402)   I think that if I had started off *wanting* the experience of Astral Projection, I probably wouldn't have so many nighttime issues with spontaneous OOB's  and would be more apt to let things ride.

When I was 14 I was living in Houston with my biological father about to return to Dallas to reunite with my sisters and mother.  I was laying on the carpet of my stepmothers parents house in the living room on my stomache as I had grown tired and wanted a nap. It was right after lunch and the sun was shining on through the window and onto the area of the carpet I was laying on.

As I was drifting off, I started hearing slight sounds of what sounded like strong electrical pulses one would hear if standing close to a power line. LIke a zooming electrical type vibration. QUickly, this sound began to take form and pulse throughout my body.
The closest thing I can find doing a quick search online for the kind of sound it is go here:
http://www.audiolicense.net/sfx/sfx_list.asp?subcat_id=7142

and click play on the sound titled:
S_394082 Internal - Close-Up - Jacobs Ladder With Glass Tube, low Fluctuating Buzz Hum With Clicks
(the second sound down)

Its not exactly the sound, the sound I hear is more vibrational and intense, but you get the idea.

Anyway, this got stronger and I began to feel it pulsing through my body, to the point where I could not move. Next thing I know, these pulses are quieter and Im walking into what used to be my sisters room in the farmhouse I was living at.  I could hear my footsteps as I walked into the room on the wooden floor.  I saw my sister sitting in front of the TV and as I walked over to her I saw sparks coming off of the Antennae of the TV.
I pointed to it and said "Shanna, look at this, oh my God!"  As soon as my sentence ended, the vibrations came back but very intense and I was being sucked to the wall, I could not breathe and then I woke up from my nap in a scream.  Everyone in the living room who was talking at the time was looking down at me asking about my nightmare I just had.  When I awoke, my head ached something feirce.  It was the first of thousands of vibrational episodes.

I didn't tell my sister about that, but when I finally got back to Dallas, I told my mother about that dream and what happened because it had frightened me. I really thought I had stopped breathing.
My mothers face turned white as apparently, my sister had her own encounter about that time.

My sisters story was this:

"I was laying on the couch in my mothers boyfriends apartment with all of the lights out. I hadn't gone to sleep yet, but I laid there with my eyes drifting open and closed as I was attempting to nap. I started hearing these strange sounds and they got louder in the room. I laid there feeling unable to move, then I heard what sounded like footsteps on a hard floor . I heard Tristans voice say "Shanna, look at this, Oh my god!" When she said God, it echoed throughout the room and the strange sounds got so loud I jumped up off of the couch and went to wash my face off.  I've never experienced that before."

She had told my mother about it because she said she hadn't completly gone to sleep when that happened.

Later, I learned this was called an "Out of Body Experience". This was my first one that I'm aware of, and is followed by years of many more.

The violent nature of the vibrations I experience at night is shared by my mother and my grandmother.  My sister has only experienced them once and that was during my very first OBE experience and it was a joint OBE experience with my sister when we were separated when I was 14.   She told my mother about her experience before I moved to Dallas to live with then. When I told my mother about mine when I returned thats when she recounted my sisters story.

I guess she told my Grandmother, because she called me and since we have talked off and on about OBE's and shes been of great assistance to me.  My mother doesn't talk about them much, She's just asked me about them on occasion and mentioned a few of her experiences.  She's one of those people that have her feet firmly planted on the ground and believes thats where they should stay.

Thank you for the advice. I'll definatly try your suggestions.   I recently got some Alpha-Beta mind wave tapes at the advice of my husband to try and relax me more before I drift off to sleep.

-It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing. And there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it right? And this bag was just... dancing with me... Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. That's the day I realized that there was this entire life behind things, and this incredibly benevolent force that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... I need to remember. Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it... and my heart is going to cave in.-

I replied to a poster of my previous post on SPontaneous Projections returning after the delivery of my son.

I know this sounds stupid, but I've actually gotten so frustrated with my sleeping problems I tried to admit myself into a sleep lab out of fear that what I was actually having were Petymal seizures. I've seen medical doctors because of my sleeping issues. No, I don't mention the word OBE, just all the symptoms. Sleep lab runs 4 grand with insurance. Thats not in the budget this year unfortunatly

Just curious if any of you that have similar spontaneous projection issues I mentioned in my last post ever went to a sleep lab at the recommendation of a medical doctor and got any results from it?
I've already had neurological testing done, and the petymal siezures did not appear in the neurological tests. Still haven't been to the sleep lab though (see above)

I have noticed though that nights that I have spontaneous OBE's, my ears were ringing a bit before bedtime. But not the normal ringing you hear in your ears, its like a deeper ringing.

Dear Michael
Thanks for the congrats and welcome!
Sleeping on my stomache actually is a big trigger for my OBE's that might be why I didn't have them after 2 months of pregnancy. However, when I started having them the first night home, I wasn't sleeping on my belly.

I've actually invested a great deal of time with voluntary and joint OBE's in the post and helping others learn the art of Astral Projection in the OBE sense. Dropping the subject completly is not an option.  I know, its pretty sad that I am helping other people attempt Astral Projection, but can't control my own frikkin spontaneous OOBE's. :/

I have a fairly good record of triggers for my OBE's that I use to induce an OBE, but I haven't quite gotten the triggers down to STOP a spontaneous one. The triggers for voluntary OBE's are different than the involuntary ones.

Im certain there is a link in there somewhere, just haven't found it yet. HOWEVER, I did find out the last two nights that showering before going to bed is seemingly working. (Normally I've showered about 2 hours before bedtime, I did so within an hour the last two nights, but it could just be a coincidence.

Thanks again.

I haven't jogged over to the introduction section of the message board just yet.  I just gave birth to my first son a week ago and sneaking a moment of computer time between feedings and while his dad is sleeping.
*yes* mommy quiet time!  Needless to say, this will be brief and may leave a lot of holes.

SUmmary:
Starting at the age of 14, I've always had spontaneous OBE's. Sometime into late teenage hood, I had started reading Astral Projection materials, but rarely found anything on Spontaneous OBE's  much less with the same "symptoms" of OBE's as I was having until my grandmother sent me a copy of Astral Dynamics, which fit everything to a T! .   During the daytime, when I'm napping, I didn't have a lot of problems just letting them ride.  At night, though, the feeling of Vibrations and the sounds that go with that- the mind split process, for some reason is very scary and desctructive to me trying to go to sleep. No matter how many times I break the cycle and try rolling over into different positions, it just starts up again. The end result has been insomnia and sleep deprivation.  Oftentimes I would just let them go. The ones I don't like though, are the ones that are so intense going into them that my body feels like its being racked on the inside.

My husband and I decided to concieve a child in March of this year.  2 months into my pregnancy, my spontaneous OBE's stopped.  Piffled out, gone!   I couldn't even have WILLED Obe's. They just ceased to exist. No biggie. My sleep was the best its ever been pregnant partly because of this. (until the last few weeks that is.. hehe - that had more to do with the 9 pound child I was carrying than anything else!)

The night I came home from the hospital, I had my first spontaneous OBE  in several months. I got up and got something to eat and went to bed, two turn overs and a breastfeeding later, it stopped and I got a good nap in between feedings.
At naptime today, I had one, but it was no big deal. (The mind-split part of the OBE is not as intense during the day) If I remember correctly from the book I read, I believe the term that Robert Bruce used was mind split.)   I can't find the darn thing because I packed it when we moved a year ago and its in a box of books waiting for a bookshelf.

Anyway. I've had one every night since I've been home and they're beginning to increase in intensity and Im starting to worry about them going back to the way they used to be (no getting out of it unless I just stay up) I'm already sleep deprived as it is with a new baby.

If anyone has any experience with intense spontaneous OBE's can you please give me some tips on how you deal with them? Its been several months since I've had to deal with these and my coping skills need to be re-learned.

Thanks
Tristan
