The goetic demon has existed since ancient time. For it to survive that long, it must be quite powerful. Is it credible that the demon was so easily destroyed?

Do the demon (or angel) has any interaction with physical world? Like moving a tiny object, making a sound, noticeable to a 3rd person regardless of his/her faith. The story of King Solomon says that the goetic demons were involved in building a temple.
#2
How did you come to know about the title "Goetic demons" before they attempted to possess you? Have you ever read anything about dark magick, the story of King Solomon, etc? or even attempted? How would you rate your acquaintance in them? Consider that Glasya only revealed to friends of you, and you were able to recognize Glasya on your own based on experience of others.

 first question

How do you figure out their identities?
(glasya-labolas, Gabriel)

there are more than one goetic demon, and more than one arch-angel out there.

Quote
Enki: Always trying to help humans
Enlil: Always trying to keep humans down.

I see. You spoke of different myth from mine.
But you don't have to go to Book of Enoch.

The very same story is told in the Bible. I should say most portions of the Bible is a copycat of Mesopotamian myths.

Enlil = Elohim the supreme God of Judaism.
Enki becomes the Serpent in Bible.

lulu and Adamu are just Eve and Adam.

and yes Judaism regards teaching human knowledge a very bad thing. That is what the story of Forbidden Fruit is about.

I just watched the movie, and thought I could add something to your comments. The movie nearly freaked me out.

When one gets so devoted to a religion, such as Emily Rose, she got too immersed in her faith. Making her susceptible to the "demonic forces" defined by her faith.

I believe that the movie did not change anything of the true story behind except the names and thus is an invaluable resources to learn.

Here is the characteristics of the events:

(1) Emily Rose was a very devoted Catholics.
The more you are devoted to a religion, the less doubt you have on its faith. To Emily Rose, Demons do exist without a single doubt.

(2) Her family has a medical history of psychosis. Deep fear or anxiety can trigger psychosis.

That was what happened in the very first night, the time of waking up, 3a.m. was a coincidence, but it stroked fear in Emily's heart because of its significance in Catholics faith. The odor of burning, the strong wind further intensified her anxiety and fear, eventually she experienced a nervous breakdown in her bed later.

(3) What happened in the very first night of her possession repeated itself on Father Moore (the father who tried to exorcise her).

The repetition is no coincidence and has nothing strange at all. Father Moore learnt Emily's experience, he too was over anxious and afraid. The experience was rooted in his subconscious and entangled with his faith.  And thus he too was waken up at 3a.m. and saw things that Emily had seen. This can be regarded as a subconscious self-confirmation of something so deeply troubling his mind.

(4) The woman scholar who spoke in favor of exorcism said exorcism is the only way to handle possession, that the drugs used to cure psychosis
made the exorcism failed.

She has some truths, exorcism does have positive effect on relieving one from possession. I prefer to say exorcism is a different approach more like a psychological guidance. Repeatedly persuading the possessed that he/she is on the way to be unpossessed and he/she is no longer possessed is a powerful mean of pacifying his/her deeply troubled mind.

The drugs cause relaxation on the mind and so do not help and actually hinder such a psychological approach.

(5) She spoke of Cain and Judah were possessed by the same "demons" before.

That is interesting, the horrific deeds of Cain and Judah were not due to demonic possession or persuasion. According to the Bible, Cain and Judah made their own decisions. So why did Emily say so? I believe it is her own self-deduced conclusion that every evil deed is demon's fault.

(6) Emily Rose claimed that she saw Virgin Mary spoke to her and gave her salvation.

She was so deeply convinced that she was possessed, and so any attempt to exorcise the "demons" had failed. At the brink of destruction, one always dreams and imagines about salvation, this is as natural as an extremely weak and thirsty man in desert could see mirage of water fountain and imagine drinking from it.

After she saw the wounds on her hands caused by the barb wires, she began to imagine being a Saint, to be heroic without accepting salvation. And so subconsciously she had accepted her fate.

The bottomline is, clinging to an object makes one more vulnerable to any damage the object could bring. This is the sad truth behind the whole story. The only curious event that I could not explain was why the defendant attorney found a necklace bearing her initials on the snow.

NOPE, you are wrong pal.

According to Babylonian/Mesopotamian myth, the creatures who taught human knowledge were huge monsters that emerged from Red Sea during the rules of the first few antediluvian, mythological kings.

The Myth you told is definitely of Judaic, Christian origin.

I have OBEd several times.
Not one last longer than 1 minute.
I was unable to find my way after I left my body.
Several images from all directions stack together.
when I could not figure out which is up down right left, I returned to my body.

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics for dummies

Our world can be divided into 3 levels,
Microscopic, Mesoscopic, Macroscopic levels
At each level we perceive matter differently.

Mesoscopic level is where we live, is at which our normal life goes about.
Macrosopic level is where stars and planets live.

Make a guess, what laws of physics govern the Mesoscopic Level?
Bingo! They are Newton's 3 laws of Mechanics.

The acceleration of an object is proportional to Force applied to it.
F = ma

Now what laws of physics govern the Macrosopic Level?
This one is what you could only learn in University.

The answer is General Relativity. The theory discovered by A. Einstein.
General Relativity says the space is NOT FLAT!

What do you mean the space is NOT FLAT?
Imagine you draw a straight line on a world map, from New York to Shanghai.

Now imagine what the straight line would be like, if you have drawn it on the Earth. It is no longer a straight line but a curve traversing half a sphere connecting the two cities.

You see the space is not flat at all.
The same thing happens in the outer space, between star and star.

Quantum Mechanics is the physics governing the microscopic level, the level where atoms and elementary particles live.

Imagine a coin lying on the table, it could only be one of the two possibilities: HEAD or TAIL.

But for a coin rotating on the table, how would you describe it?
Your best answer is that the coin is 50% HEAD and 50% TAIL.

Quantum Mechanics say this is precisely what happen at microscopic level. That's you are not 100% sure, what happen to an atom.
You can only tell how much chance it could turn out to be this way, and how much chance it could turn out to be that way.

A Mesocopic object, like a car, can have only one value of Energy at each instant. If a 500kg car is traveling at 5 metres per second, the Kinetic Energy is (1/2) times 500kg times (5 metres per second) squared.

But a Microscopic object can have more than one value of Energy at each instant!

It is possible that an atom has 1 calorie, 5 calories, 10 calories Energy value at the same time! All you need to find out is the chance, the probability of the atom being in each Energy value.

Imagine a person walking from home to school, how many paths is he taking?

Note, I am asking how many paths he is taking NOT how many paths he can take.

The answer is ONE of course, he could have taken a shortcut, he could have wandered around the neighbourhood, he could have chosen a zig-zag-like fanciful way of walking.

The point is, once he has made up this mind, now he is on his way to school, he is taking only ONE path.

This not happening to an atom which is billion times smaller than us. the atom is taking multiple paths when moving from one point to one point!

when you observe it, the atom will appear to be at one point, for you!
When you do not observe it, the atom appears everywhere again, countless possibilities.

Bizarre? That's Quantum Mechanics.

The Energy work you do,
Where does Energy, Qi, come from?

from the food you eat?
from the your spirit? (your virtues, your morality, anything unphysical)

or from your external environment, the Sun, the Moon, stars, Nature?

My guess:
depending on whether you open your chakras,
if you don't, the energy comes from first two.
if you do, the energy comes from last one as well.

:?:  sexual factor

Daoists use arcane terminology.
Things like "Dragon and Tiger have sex", "mix Lead and Mercury" simply mean various types of transformations of energy in the body.

Microcosmic orbit has nothing to do with sex.

Most "Small Circulation" websites are in Chinese Language.
If you do find one, let me see if the translations are exact.

"Small Circulation" can be realized without a physical teacher, I mean you can have a spiritual teacher.

Normally the energy will be strong enough to travel up the "Governor's Vein" and trigger a circulation after 100 Days of breathing and refining exercise.

Anything faster than that is dangerous and not encouraged.

I'm not qualified to answer your first two questions.

>Aslo, does any one use to orbit to induce and OBE?

I learnt that it is possible from a teacher, but with very good visualisation technique. Western theories / methods of OBE are obviously better than Daoists'.

:)
Microcosmic orbit and "Small Circulation" are the same thing. The name is an astrological term.

:? I've never heard such comments before.
I find "Small Ciculation" much safer, the refined energy is enormous and could bring damage to body if not controlled well. By continuously circulating through a loop of Chakras, the stress of the energy is evenly distributed. That should bring no harm to the body.

:D

I am a learner of "Small Circulation" practice in Daoism and noticed Kundalini Yoga just recently. The writing on the Jade was the foundation of "Small Circulation". The latter is simply an improvement of the former and established itself during later dynastic period in China.

However "Small Circulation" and Kundalini Yoga are not entirely similar, I will show you their differences.

Why is it called "Small Circulation"? Because there is another larger circulation called "Large Circulation". I must admit "Circulation" is a poor translation of the original Chinese word. Perhaps "Heavenly Circle" is a better translation but I find it too lengthy.

"Small Circulation" is simply a loop connecting 12 Chakra points in human body, 7 of which either coincide or are very close to the 7 Chakras in Kundalini Yoga. Especially the 1st (Crown), 2nd and last (Root) Chakras, they are exactly the same.

Through breathing exercise like what written on the Jade, a practitioner endeavors to convert the raw energy in his body, the 'refinery' that this conversion took place is in the Root Chakra.

Daoism classifies energy into 5 classes. Each one is more sublime than the other. In the first practice of "Small Circulation", one is to convert crude energy (1st class) into a refined state (2nd class).

Here is the first difference, Daoism does not believe in a large reserve of untapped potential in body (Kundalini). The potential is gained through many months of energy refinement process with breathing exercise as catalyst.

When the density of refined energy is high enough, the practioner may withdraw it to Crown Chakra, through the other path of "Small Circulation" connecting another 7 different Chakras located at the back of human body (spine). The refined energy is put to circulate through this loop of 12 Chakras, hence the name "Small Circulation". The Circulation involves going down from Crown to Root via the 1st path, and back to Crown again via the 2nd path and repeats countless number of times.

Daoist Masters have warned their students against activating the "Small Circulation" prematurely (that is when the density of refined energy in Root Chakra is not high enough). This could bring physical damage to the practioner's body.

Interesting enough, Yoga masters also warned students against awakening the Kundalini prematurely. But a premature Kundalini arousal could bring mental damage as well, that is far more serious than Daoism.

The most significant difference between Kundalini Yoga and Daoism is that Daoism put refined energy into Circulation. And Yoga master believes the goal is that the Kundalini Energy has reached the Crown, it means unification with the Divine.

I would like to share with you an interesting fact about Kundalini Yoga.

First take a look at the the process of Kundalini Awakening
[http://swamij.com/kundalini-awakening.htm]

1) Prana usually flows in Ida or Pingala
2) Prana is made to flow in Ida and Pingala
3) Prana is made to flow in Sushumna
4) Kundalini energy is awakened
5) Kundalini is led upwards
6) Kundalini rises to Sahasrara

Kundalini Yoga as well as the above sequence of energy flow was established in 1970's by the founders.

However the history of Chakra system and breathing exercise of Yoga can be dated back to the time of Vedas and Upanishads (1800–700 B.C.).

Now look at this photo

This is a jade discovered, to be made at the time of Warring States in China (500~200 B.C.)

Note that there was absolutely no connection between Ancient China and Ancient India at that time. The first connection was made at about 1~200 A.D. in Han Dynastic period of China.

Major cultural influences occurred hundred years after that (around 500 A.D. onwards)

The writings on the Jade are the following: (the translations are done by me)

《 行 氣 銘 》 :
The Script of energy channeling:

「 行 氣 : 深 則 蓄 , 蓄 則 伸 , 伸 則 下 ,
Channel the energy: Breathe deeply then accumulate , accumulate then extend, extend then flow downward,

下 則 定 , 定 則 固 , 固 則 萌 ,
flow downward then concentrate, concentrate then condense, condense then awaken,

萌 則 長 , 長 則 退 , 退 則 天 。
awaken then grow,  grow then withdraw, withdraw then (reach) Heaven.

天 機 舂 在 上 , 地 機 舂 在 下 。
I am not sure of the term '天 機 舂'
but '天' means 'Heaven', '在 上' means 'on top'
'地' means 'Earth', '在 下' means 'at the bottom'
'天 機 舂' and  地 機 舂' could mean the Crown and Root Chakras.

順 則 生 , 逆 則 死 。
follow (the sequence) then have life, reverse (the sequence) then have death.

The writings bear striking similarity with the teaching of Kundalini Yoga. The energy flow, chakras, sequence of practice, objective are the same. This writing was the earlist Daoism spiritual practice in China.

You have got it right, although a few of the points are abit radical.

A clear distinction between Theravada and Mahayana is:

Theravada only enlightens itself. Only a Buddha is qualified to enlighten the world.

Mahayana enlightens the world as well as itself.

Both have shortcomings. Theravada's are those you pointed out. Mahayana's shortcoming is that the diversification of views and doctrines is unavoidable, thus leading to religious conflicts.

here's what I think (not in sequential order):

QuoteI've just been questioning the usefulness of meditation to myself lately, because I've experienced such rapturous states - but who else has it helped, but me? What's so rapturous about it if I'm the only one experiencing it?

You should know that Theravada Buddhism is different from Buddhism of today. A Theravada Buddhist only enlighten himself/herself, except a Buddha. Put it bluntly, Theravada Buddhist is extremely selfish. This is not considered a bad quality to them, if everyone could enlighten himself/herself, the world will be a better place. One sees that there are countless beings in the world, to try to enlighten them one by one is nearly impossible. Instead, one should enlighten himself/herself first, that's the easier task, since one has total control of oneself.

QuoteHowever, I'm interested to hear more from you about sloth. You describe the first formless Jhana as a state of "total relaxation." However, you mention later it is dangerous to become too comfortable because this can lead to one of the five hindrances (laziness).

What is sloth? The dictionary says "aversion to work or exertion." I don't mean to mince words, but isn't meditation towards out-of-body projection about letting the body enter a state of total relaxation? And is this not a state where we are averse to exerting ourselves?

Perhaps the dictionary is incomplete and it's more accurate to say that sloth is aversion to "good work," or "productive work." If that is the case, what is it about Jhana work that is good and productive?

Sloth - aversion to work or exertion
Here the Theravada Buddists' definition of "work", "exertion" is always the work required to gain Enlightenment, i.e. the Noble Eightfold Path, the meditation practice.

They reason that, in order to gain Enlightenment, Jhana has to be achieved, in order to achieve Jhana, relaxation of body is required. Therefore, in their terms, relaxation of body is not a sloth.

However, if a monk is too obsessed with Jhana (because of the relaxation, happiness). He might forget about his true objective, then relaxation of body might become a form of laziness.
