FEMMSTARR, I'm sorry but I can't just let that post go without putting in my view.

Mod Edit: With respect we'd like to stay on-topic and not let things slide to arguing amongst oneselves regarding respective views about religion. That's what the religious section is for.

Just a thought.  No offense towards anyone.  :)

Oh, and Andali, if the situation with your mother gets really bad, then perhaps, as a last resort, look up Robert Peterson's online book and show her the sections where he talks about religion (a few places, scattered about the book).  Maybe that will change her mind like it did mine.  I hope things get better for you soon.

Peace.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / I DID IT!!
December 08, 2004, 17:27:16
I DID IT!!  I had an OBE last night!!  I'll try to remember exactly what happened:

I decided to try cube's "let your body fall asleep by ignoring discomfort" method.

(I had fallen asleep at about 11 PM and a dog barking woke me up at 3 AM ish.  After I took out the garbage and stuff and felt sleepy again, I attempted to project.)

First, I relaxed myself in my normal sleeping position.  Then I made sure to remain completely still.  After about 10 minutes or so, I felt like my back was tightening up (at the place of an old injury) but I ignored it, and sure enough, my body felt heavy and I heard a dull ringing.  Even though I was close to mentally snoozing off at this point, I became wide-awake (mentally) at this sensation.  After that, I was sort of on "auto-pilot".  I was awake, but I wasn't thinking too hard.  Sort of like a reflex, I started "log rolling" to my left.  When I was rolling I heard a loud (but not too loud or painful...just weird) roaring buzz...sound...thing...I guess I could akin the sound to when you hang upside down for a while and get up too fast and the blood rushes to your head and you hear a "clogged" sound.  About half-way through the log roll, I thought, "Boy, wouldn't this be silly if I'm moving my physical body instead.  I'll fall out of bed and make a thud!".  But I rationalized by thinking, "Well, I know it won't hurt to fall out of the bed, and I'm not afraid of what will happen."  So I finished the roll, and I was kinda floating next to my bed.  I remember looking down to see my shirt, and expecting the blue shirt I had on, I was surprised to see red light and yellow triangles of light where my shirt would be.  It looked like a funky wool sweater, really.  Then it was over.  After like 5 seconds.

But it was sooo cool!  It was quite the experience!

Oh, and a note.  I sleep flat on my stomach.  I can't sleep on my back for the life of me, and trying to project that way the other night proved unsuccessful.  And when I "log rolled" I remember I was laying on my right side (which is a position I can't sleep in).  That struck me as kind of odd...but I'm just so excited!  On my second night of trying, I projected!  :D

So...I have two more questions for now...

1.  How long can OBE's last?  As long as I sleep?  Or is there some kind of limit?  I know to take it slow until I get really comfortable with everything.

2.  What should I do the next time I have an OBE?  Should I practice moving around or something?

I just want to thank kerbe6 again for all the help you've given me!  :)

Thanks for the answers, kerbe6 and Leprechaun!

One last question, and I think I already know the answer...just making sure...

When you're in an OBE, and someone "wakes" your body up, you just come back, right?  Like the way you wake up from sleep?

Thanks again!

Hi.  I bet there must be a lot of topics like this already.  I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before, but I'm brand new to the world of OBE's and I have some questions.

Okay, here goes.

1.  Is "the falling dream" anything like an OBE?  I tend to get the falling dream right as I fall asleep and then get startled when I fall and wake up again.

2.  I just started attempting projecting last night.  I felt the swaying, like on a hammock, and I heard a ringing and felt a tingling in my limbs.  I also felt like I was floating a bit.  Am I on the right track?

3.  If I am on the right track, what am I to do next to start the OBE?

4.  I've had a lot of dreams where I remember flying and I remember the feeling of flying.  The way I thought of putting my energy beneath myself and going upwards.  Was this an OBE or a lucid dream?

5.  Does doing an OBE hurt your eyesight or strength?  That question must sound silly, but those are my only fears holding me back.

6.  If one is having an OBE on say, a sick day, and during their OBE goes to where they should be at work at that time, can they see what is happening at work as it is happening?

That's all I can think of at this time.  Sorry if my questions are foolish, but I'm really new to all of this.  Thanks for your help!
