Quote from: GandalfYou know whats sad, Gandalf and others that feel that the Bible shouldn't be taken for face value, is that Im sure the same reasoning went around while Noah was preaching and building his ark.

Now this line says it all! Like Noah preaching and building his ark... mmm that *really happened*    Seriously though, I guess its up to your own belief and I respect it, but to assume as you do that the bible is a valid historical text plumbs the depths of foolishness in my opinion!

It's sad, that people like me dont 'take the bible at face value'? I beg to differ. Its called having an enquiring mind and a bit of common sense. Its not sad.. its wonderful!

As soon as it is held to be *good* to critisise people for questioning religious dogmas, you might as well move to Iran

Also for the doubters out there that don't know but the EU is the beast mentioned in revelations and do you know that in its main government building there are 679 seats and only 1 seat is empty and guess what number its labeled? Bingo 666.

Utter, utter piffle and outright paranoia!  You have been getting your info from Holywood movies, in particular the *false* revelations quote in 'The Omen'.
I'm glad I don't live anywhere near you and that you do not have access to nuclear weapons

Douglas

PS if anyone actually bothers to *read* revelations, it is quite clear to anyone with an ounce of common sense that the events described were assumed to occur within the lifetimes of the early christians responsible for these writings.
Trying to fit them to interprete modern scenarios is like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, but it doesnt stop the paranoid from trying.

Luckily the writings are so vague as to lend itself to constant reinterpretations if you put enough imagination into it. Such a style of presenting prophesies was hardly new, even before that time, cf the obscure revelations given by the oracle at Delphi, and in more recent times, the vague prophesies of Nostradamus, written so they can be adapted to any situation. Some people are so naive!

Wow thank you Gandalf for resulting to personal insults by calling me paranoid, lacking common sense, foolish, naive... etc..

Personally I could care less what you think about people like me for actually trusting and following the Bible at its literal face value. If you choose not to believe then thats fine by my standards and if not believing floats your boat then enjoy your brief life but that doesnt change the fact that we are indeed in the last days.

I honestly hope though that when the time comes and that you are in the last days that you will actually be opened minded enough to realise that Bible prophecy is being fullfilled and that you would make the right decision.

Btw as far as 666 is concerned No I have never watched the OMEN nor do I put much credence in anything coming from Hollywood considering that they always mess up everything... Where I do get my information from is the EU website and those that monitor the EU.

You know you people that spend all your time insulting Christians for being close minded should actually look at yourselves for a change and see that your exactly the same way.

Be open minded people to the point that you are willing to admit that a person that believes intelligent design is the correct path might actually be right instead of blindly following the teachings of the prophets of darwin.

Quote from: MustardseedWhat scripture do you base the statement on, (that the rapture must come before the tribulation?)

Simple he uses the whole Bible for scripture. Throughout the Bible God has always preserved his people from the wrath to come and delivered them from it.

Biblical Examples Include:

The Flood - God delivered Noah and his family from the judgment of the earth by commanding him to build and enter the ark.

Sodom and Gomorrah - God brought Lott and his 2 daughters out of Sodom and Gomorrah before he brought judgment and destroyed those cities.

Passover - God killed all the first born in Egypt but spared those that had the blood of the lamb on their mantles.

Another example that has just come to me when I was pondering Sodom and Gomorrah was when Abraham was talking to God about Sodom and Gomorrah.

Quote
Genesis 18:
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes:
28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.
30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.
32 And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
33 And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

My point behind this is that as long as the world has a significant concentration of people living right by God's standards he cant judge the world by his own standards.

So in order for him to judge the world at the end of days he either has to do 2 things.

1) Wait until a time of utter disbelief, so bad that there are no longer any believers or a population so low that its less than 10 people per city.

2) Or deliver all the Righteous people then commence to judge the world.

and yes the tribulation period is God's judgment of the world therefore by his nature he has to deliver his people.

Quote from: LogicIf all the events in revelations have to happen before the second coming, yet the second coming can happen at any given second no matter what has happened, how the hell does this work? I never really understood this..

Your mistaken and thats why your confused on this subject.

In the end days there are actually 2 comings.

The first is when Christ comes for his Bride / Church and the second is when he physically sets down at the last battle to take his kingdom.

The first can happen at any time but the second can be calculated to the exact day from the 6th seal.

The exact day is 7 years after you see the moon turn to blood and and the sun becoming black.

The exact day is 7 years after you see the Anti-christ confirm a covenant with the nation of Israel possibly the Mideast peace treaty.

The exact day is 3.5 years after you see the anti-christ go into the temple of God and declare that he is God.

The exact day is 3.5 years after you see God's 2 prophets possibly Moses and Definitely Elijah killed in the streets of Jerusalem and the world celebrating their deaths.

The exact day is 3.5 years after you see the worlds armies conquer Jerusalem and force God's 144,000 Jews into hiding. Where God will sustain his children for exactly 3.5 years.

You know whats sad, Gandalf and others that feel that the Bible shouldn't be taken for face value, is that Im sure the same reasoning went around while Noah was preaching and building his ark.

Of course we know the outcome of that situation don't we?

Now back to the discussion, do I believe that we are in the last days? Yes we are.

Is the world going to end like some people mistakingly believe the Bible teaches? No its not.

What the end of days actually means is the end of an age. We are going from an age of sinful man ruling the world and causing pain and suffering to his fellow man to Christ actually ruling this world in a Utopian paradise where people will live by the golden rule and if they don't there will be true justice.

Lastly for those interested in the Bible for end times prophecy you should realize that Revelations is just the last book of prophecy but not the only book of prophecy in the Bible that relates to the last days.

I would suggest that if you really want to know what is gonna happen in the last days that you should also read the books of:

Danial - This book above all sets many of the symbols in the book of Revelations.

Ezekiel - Covers the battle of Armageddon, The battle of Gog / Magog where a coalition of Russian and Muslim countries try to invade Israel but are destroyed by the power of God.

Zechariah - Same as above.

If you really do a study and you pray that God will give you the meaning of this prophecy then you will see that the end times is an expansive story of a loving God that cares enough for his people that he has sent them warnings of what will transpire.

Also for the doubters out there that don't know but the EU is the beast mentioned in revelations and do you know that in its main government building there are 679 seats and only 1 seat is empty and guess what number its labeled? Bingo 666.

So a word of warning when you see that seat filled and you see a law passed that requires you to receive an electronic implant in your head or hand in order to buy or sell you better get on your knees and pray to God because your very soul is at stake.

Just writing to you guys for some guidance. Currently Im working towards my first astral projection and I would like to know if Im on the right track.

First I start off by laying down and then I just focus on my breathing while ignoring my body.

After a few minutes ill feel my hands and then body start tingling like my body is being starved of oxygen.

Later my body will feel like Im on some major pain killers in that my awareness of my body is dulled and to think of it I really cant feel myself breathing as before but I still do of course.

Now the real question is that I have heard that I need to experience vibrations before the OBE but what I experience I guess can be called vibrations but it feels more like static electricity dancing all over my body.

Is this vibrations and am I on the right track and if I must go further then how much further do you guys think I need to go?
