Quotepains in my extremities, tingling, numbness, burning sensations, cold sensations

All the sensations you have mentioned are also associated with movement of energy. Pain is usually associated with overloading something. If I where you I would stop whatever practices which are giving you negative sensations and see the feelings go away on their own. If this is not that case I would visit a very good acupuncturist or some one else that has a good understanding of energy that can help you rectify any imbalances you have created through the practices you have been trying.

The golden rule when dealing with energy and meditative practices is, don't force it! if you notice your self tensing up mentally or physically trying to achieve something in a altered state of consciousness, its probably  being counter productive or even harmful to you.

Use you intuition to decide if are taking a practice to a place where it is not beneficial for you.  Some times you will get messages in your dreams that you are wasting your time on a certain practice. If you can already project you can just ask your higher self for some answer...you can also an I-ching about the direction your practices are heading in before the lead to situation which is regrettable. But the subconscious or higher self, know much better then the intellect how much too enough. Some times we get so attached to a goal that we don't to hear that maybe it's not right for us to pursuer it.

I wish you the best of luck! and hope you don't have to give up you goal of projection, but if the choice is between projection and health. choose health.

using pure focus to ie, focusing on breath takes a while to bring me to a theta state..

I read this article from, theta healing which gives a simple technique to enter a theta state quickly. It involves binging consciences through the crown Chara above the head.  Then connecting with the higher self, god head, etc.
http://energy-spiritual-healing.com/theta-healing.htm
Iv also seen Taoist practices which looked some what similar...if any one could recommend me to a book or website on the subject id be grateful.

Id be interested to hear if this is a practice with is regularly used by people, and if so how do you use it in your daily life. Also is it a good method for projecting? And what are the limitations / downsides of this kind of meditation.

If there are other ways people use to enter deep trances quickly id like to head them. Thanks! I'm going to keep experimenting with it... Happy projecting all...

Kilik you could be right.  My last post was based largely on the bad experience that a friend of mine had with fulan dafa, and some of the bad press about them that is on the Internet. But I have tried the movments, and they basically chi-kung moves from what I can see. As far as fulan philosophy goes, I have to plead admit i'm pretty ignorant of it (as well as the higher level pracices). I have to admit all the negative press I managed to dig up about it discouraged me from pursuing it any further. If you put "fulan-dafa" into google.com it isn't all peaches and cream...But reading your post you have made me curios to investigate it further. So, yes it was probably wrong of me to discount fulangong as just chi-kung since it has another spritual/philosophical component that I am not familiar with.  Kilik you have inspired me to research the who subject further to get to the bottom of it!

Taoist's say that there is a High and low energy time to every month, and that doing energy work helps even out the highs and low.  If you are at risk of giving up during a low, I recommend doing a more active energy exercise such as tai-chi, or a movement based chi-kung, or yoga, which will strengthen and relax you while you build your energy. Weight trainers know very well doing the same exercises for 5 years will produce much fewer gains than alternating exercises which work the same muscle groups differently. It could also be the case with energy work.

On a side note: Soft energy material arts such as tai-chi can be a really fun way to practice using your energy interact with people and objects in the physical plane. Sticky hands (a tai-chi exercise) for example teaches you listen to an opponent's energy with your body and anticipate their movements. Push hands, and practicing the tai-chi form teaches you how to sink your energy into the earth, so that you become more difficult to move.  Using tactile imaging or visualization, you can move your energy to strengthen your physical shape when force is exerted on it. Or simply use your energy to assist in moving some one out of your way. The trick is to find a teacher or book that will show you the energy aspect of the softer martial arts. I personally find martial arts a great fun way to build energy, which can also take on a social dimensions (you need people to practice with).

Their Chi-kung movements are pretty effective. They postures to open all the meridians (chakiras) throughout the body. Move it up and down the body on the vertical axis, circulate it with "fulan heavily circulation" which is basically the practice of greater circulation but using your hands to guide the energy rather then just your mind.  They have a few standing chi-kung postures which feel pretty good, and a sitting meditation.

All and all these guys try to make them selves sound really special, but it is really just good chi-kung mixed with elements of Buddhist and Taoist philosophy, mixed with some original ideas from the leader of the organization, packaged up in the form of a personality cult.

Not to say that personality cults are bad, but they have a tendency to do some mind bending on people. I do recommend trying the exercises though, because they are easy and good for you health.

When I first started I could barely feel any energy, working its way though my body, after week or 2, I kind had the hang of NEW, but it was really taking a long time to open the energy centers of the joints. It took a few months maybe even a year of on-and-of NEW before I could open the centers easily.

Things I learned that helped:

Keeping your energy up helps for the next session: I found that if I practices 3 times daily for 15 to 20 minutes it helped my energy centers open a lot faster, but if I slacked in the early stages, I had to build up by sensitivity and stores of energy again.

One problem that NEW used to give me was that it takes a whole lot of concentration to open energy centers enough to feel energy in the body. However if you have energy in your body the energy centers tend to open more quickly and at the very least they are easier to sense once energy has been directed to them. I found that doing yoga, tai-chi, or chi-kung or any practice which got the energy flowing in the body helped a lot for generating enough energy so that I could practice NEW properly.

I recommend doing yoga, or chi-kung, or tai-chi or some moving energy discipline at around sunset or sunrise then fallow it up with some NEW.

You might want to try an active energy manipulation method to keep you self awake. If you are week, this will help you to build your body as well as your energy pathways. Try taking a chi-kung class, or a yoga class.

Other things to keep in mind:
Posture it is very important in deciding how energy flows throughout the body as well as how awake you feel during energy work.  Here are some tips for energy work while standing (harder to fall asleep while standing); many of the concepts apply to sitting as well.

*Keep the hands open and alive.  Don't stretch them to their maximum, just try to open them as much and as easily as if they where laying flat on a table.  Opening the hands in this manner sets of a biological trigger for alertness in the body. Your body will be able to take in more sensory input with open hands. It also allows energy to flow more easily through the pathways of the hands.
ON A SIDE NOTE: most martial arts originated in china, use or used to use open handed strikes.  The open hand allows for the flow of energy to move unimpeded. Tai-chi may use the occasional hallow fist strike, but the fist is not clenched for energetic reasons.  Karate, used to be almost an entirely open handed fighting style also for energetic reasons. Using fingers or side of the hand to strike rather than fists. No one today has the time to harden their fingers enough to use them as weapons, so the stiles which are typically taught today feature much more first striking.

*Keep a space under the armpit. You can take a golf ball or ping pong ball and put it under your armpit to get an idea of how much space you should have. you should be as relaxed as possible. Shoulders should not be hunched forward, if they are your upper back will begin to hurt after a while.

*Keep the head erect.  Point the spot where your swirl of hair grows from toward the sky (just behind the crown of the head

*Flatten the lower back.  When you flatten the arch of your spine by pulling the hips in, and under your energy field more ball like.  Energy can also mover throughout spine more easily.

*knees slightly bent

*feet shoulder with apart.  You can rock from balls of feet to heels to alleviate muscle tension generated from standing in one place for a long time.

iv been playing around with the microcosmic orbit for a while, and I have had good times and bad times with it....at first when I opened the orbit I got sick for two weeks, so I took a break. Then I felt bi-polar for a while, so I figured I was doing it wrong, took another break. Started getting much less sleep every night for a while, and still felt great, but I figured I was doing it wrong again and took a break. Now I think I am finally getting it right, and have been easing into it much slower, and not putting quite as much energy through the orbit as I used to. I used to be really sweating after doing the orbit. Now I appear to be free of side effects.

But all the problems I guess where to be expected when learning a meditation from a book....Anyway, I think I have it now, I just wanted to ask a few technical questions:

do all your chakras have to be open before you start circulating in the orbit?

and should you pause on each chakra, or just loop around with a constant flow?

Aslo, does any one use to orbit to induce and OBE? I have seen pictures in in old books of Taoist leaving through he crown, after doing a meditation which seemed quite similar to the orbit....any one tried it?

Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Chakras

Get a feel for energy first:
The N.E.W method is very good for this, and teaches you how open energy centers in hands, arms feet and legs. Once you got that you can use what you learned to open your major chakras. The beauty of this system is it doesn't require an instructor and you get pretty good feedback from your body if you are doing something wrong or right.
http://www.astraldynamics.com/tutorials/?BoardID=18

NEW is really good for getting a feel for energy, and once you get that you can pick up other energy systems much more quickly. I find that there are other systems out there that are much more fun and much less boring to practice than N.E.W but N.E.W really makes a very good foundation for them.

Opening Chakras:
Once you have given your energy body some exercise opening your chakras is just a matter of pushing some energy through them, or focusing on them, and they will open in a very short period of time.  Getting a feel for energy is THE KEY, once you do that the rest  will come very naturally.

Good luck

ask and you will receive ;-)

I heard chopra talking about manifestation of objects.  He was talking about sending what you want into the universe, and it will come to you (eventualy).  He also mentions the more  one attunes themselves to the universe the less the time between though and manifestation, theoretical making it to the point where things become available to you instantaneously.  I have found this to be sort of true (the decrease in time, between asking and receiving since I have embarked on a path of mediation and energy work).  It also works when you direct your mind at things you don't want, they tend to be more accessible to you. If you have good judgment once you bring something bad into your life you can still avoid it, but it's better not to bring it there in the first place. This phenomena is kind of a pain in the butt when you bring things into your life that complicate it. It also probably aids allot if reinforcing peoples ideas about the world, for better of for worse.

I had a teacher that continually said, the mind/higher-self is like a computer, if you install doom, you will get doom, but if you install love & compassion , love and compassion is what you will get.

Hehe, sorry, that sort of got off topic, but the subject matter is fresh in my mind, after bringing some unwanted things into my own life, but focusing on them too much.

For the last to days I've been raising a lot of energy using NEW of Chi-kung, I haven't projected in a long time and wasn't really intending to. However when I took a nap yesterday I started to see through my closed eyes little by little, and I began to notice that my movements did not correspond to my body. I tried to get out of body but I couldn't move, I could pull myself ever so slowly across the my floor but my vision did not change, only the feeling in my hands and feet as I pulled myself to the door of my room. I tried changing my gaze, but I could only see turn it as far to get a vary close up profile of my eye and nose.

Then when I tried to go to sleep last night I APed again. The same thing happened, but this time I could move a little (1 meter at most), but my vision was stuck at the angle my head was at when I went to sleep. This time a saw a mask rapidly changing faces in front my bed. I looked up the dream definition for mask; it seems to apply to my life. Could this be one of those things I need to resolve before I can AP normal again? Or is this quirky vision problem a normal problem for beginning projectors?

also when I AP my body is never laying in my bed where I expect it to be. is that normal?

On a side note: I tried flying, spinning, jumping propping myself up against a wall, trying to reason with my subconscious,  nothing seemed to work my vision was just skewed.

Quote from: knucklebrain1970I've never been able to feel energy except with this bizarre method of healing I do on my wife.

Yeah NEW should help you feel energy. It just takes a while to become sensitive to it. Once your body gets used to  channeling energy it will become  easy.

If you want to know what it is like to move energy around your body i suggest trying chi-kung. your can find tones of video tapes and DVD's online. But once you finish a session try some NEW the energy you generate from chi-kung helped me jump start my NEW practices.

Astanga yoga seems to promote energy sensations after practice, I found chi-kung (probably depends on the type though, iv been learning Chan style)  to be much more complimentary though.

after sex the energy centers in my hands and feet open right up, and my ability to manipulate energy is increased for a while...Maybe if I had sex twice a day telekinesis would set in . In principle it makes sense though.  The Chinese have been using sex for a long time a way of stimulating the energy system (yellow Court scriptures).  Mantak chia has written books on how to achieve the same energy increase without sex, he calls it the orgasmic upward draw or something. well, chia is just supposed to be the most recent and clear author to write on the subject, however  there have been many books written on subject which predate chia by a few hundred years.

I have never used chia's techniques so I can't speak about how effective they are.

I found this site, where this dude graphs chia's biofeedback progress while he does his meditations to get an idea of how effective they are.  if any on is interested (again, this is the Internet and any one can put up a website, so take everything with a grain of salt) :  http://www.ipn.at/ipn.asp?AQBhttp://www.ipn.at/ipn.asp?AQB

Perceiving time at a varying rate happens on a constants basis. Studies have shown that people who feel that they are constantly out of time, have faster biological clocks (age faster, faster hart rate, etc) than people who have all the time in the world. Being in a state of heightened awareness can slow time down to a certain extent. A safe example of this is after playing the hardest level of a racing video game, the first level is cake. all the cars feel like there moving in molasses, but in truth you have just altered you perception of time by constantly forcing yourself to improve your reaction time. When trying something slowly again it becomes extremely easy. The same techniques are used to teach people how to speed read. Also when one is thrown in to a situation where they must make many fast decisions or possibly die, the objective perception of time slows down considerably. Another example is how time flies when you are enjoying something and, how it drags when you are not.  The point I'm trying to make is that our perception of time has never been static, it is always changing.

The simplest way to slow town time is to real not enjoy something and look at the clock constantly.

To the point: Richard Bandler offers a hypnosis script which uses anchors to slow down/speed up time. I have never used his script as hypnosis has never really worked for me.

I also recommend changing your daily mantra from "i'm not going to have any time" to something else if you want to live longer. Meditation is also good for slowing down the speed at which you're nervous systems operates. IT has been shown in studies that meditation twice a day can slow the effect of biological aging significantly. (12 years avg after 5 year experiment) search in Google if you want to see the full study

In all forms of Yoga (Taoist or Hindu) focus on the connection of breath and movement.  The act of playing attention to breath even while energy raising energy calms the nerves system, and puts one in a light trance state rather quickly. The simplest of Buddhist meditations involves nothing more than counting breaths. This is a concentration meditation used to get the body ready for other more advanced meditations. I don't know what kind of benefits this has in NEW as Bruce seems to suggest we should be raising energy out of trance state. I find this rather hard to do for any long period of time my self, I do notice if I do go too deep into relaxation it does make it harder for me to get energy moment sensations, or they feel sort of disconnected. Practices such as tai-chi, and chi-kung, Taoist meditations and yoga, seem to really encourage this state of mind. It was from Taoist thought which Chan (Zen) Buddhism was developed, and they are all about living in that relaxed state of mind.

I'm beginning to notices the connection between the amount of energy you raise and if I can sleep, or How long I can sleep.  Yesterday I had a physically exausting day,  every times I raised energy I just seemed to use it all in a short period of time. by the end of the day I was out like  a light (for the first time in weeks), and got   a whole 8 hours of sleep, even after a little new before I went to bed.  I think regulating he amount of energy I intake at night combined with doing more heavy physical activity during the day helps.

Thanks for the input Naiad780

I have been doing NEW in the morning and it has been great! It gives me so much physical vitality, and puts me in best mood. The amount of physical/ mental energy I get is truly amazing. In the evening hours this has the effect of taking a cup of coffee before going to sleep, which makes sleep possible but not comfortable. However, NEW is not the culprit any meditation I do in the later hours of the evening have the potential of screwing up my sleep. I think this is due to the trance, which seems to increase energy flew in my body.  For example, if I do any sort of meditation I have to do something active and engaging, such as walking or talking to friends, for an hour or to before I actually try to do to bed.  However if I engage in any activity which continues the concentration of my mediation, I tend to have the following symptoms while sleeping: lucid dreams (often waking me in the middle of the night). My body also feels full of energy  all night and into the morning, making me toss and turn all night. I can suck the energy into my sub navel center, but a few hours later it will just be all over me again, causing me to wake up.  Some nights I get in this state of half wakeful and half sleep, where my mind just turns circles and trying to pursue random ideas which are never fully conceptualized. I become annoyed listening to my own thoughts all night, and id clear my mind my meditation but I think it would continues the cycle. I often have to get up and do something for an hour or so around 3-6AM just to bring my mind back to a normal state, that will allow sleep.

Does any one else have similar symptoms with NEW before bed?

Is there a way I could do energy work, and then make sure the energy stays where I put it all night?  Or a way of releasing my excess supply of energy so I can sleep at night?
So far I just abstain from NEW/Meditation in the evening, but another solution would be appreciated.

I was hoping that maybe if I just tried to weather the storm for a week or so my body would fix the problem , just as jet lag tends to fix it self after a few days. But I think Ill wait until school is out before depriving my self of sleep my week trail period.
