There's a misconception that you need to "get out" while you've already became aware.

You became aware you were dreaming while you were dreaming... you're *already out*.  Just place your Intent to go somewhere or do something.  There's never any need to return to your body to "get out", you're making it twice as hard on yourself.

As Tom says, you don't need to get out of your body... you need to get into your consciousness.  Which, at the point you said you became aware you were dreaming, you were ALREADY into your consciousness.  :)

Nah, I don't think to become aware to get out. I think it's possible to realize I'm dreaming without actually projecting. Basically, I think it was just a dream. Especially since I don't hurt real people :). I know that others have projected successfully from a dream.. I just didn't. Either way, I couldn't do anything except stay in my dream.

As for returning to my body, I definitely wouldn't do that! I was afraid I'd go back into consciousness, actually. I wanted to go into my room. I didn't get to see that happen. I want another go... I think I had one because of an episode of a TV show I watched where they were in dreams. They were trying to tell what setting was real and what wasn't (they were being shifted back and forth). What I watch tends to influence what happens in my dreams.

I have often used a magic eye picture as an analogy to having OOBEs.

When somebody is trying to have an OOBE and they try and try and analyse and fail... they don't realise sometimes that it will happen in a certain way that didn't occur to them.. it will suddenly 'click'. Like a magic eye. My sister tried for years to do them/ She just couldn't. She came to London and I have a Magic eye book in the house. She told me she couldn't do them. I explained how you basically go cross eyed matching the pattern... Like looking at a repetitive wallpaper pattern that merges as your eyes struggle to keep focus.. the principles of 3D.

She did it... as soon as she knew because it was described to her. She thought you looked at it and something would magically stand out.  :-D

Different thing but I stayed totally on topic.

I don't understand. Did she have an OOBE trying to match the magic eye puzzle, or is that just an analogy? By did it do you mean she did the puzzle?

I had a dream last night in which I became aware I was dreaming. I said aloud that I was, and nothing happened, but then it began to fade to about 85% (made the dream "fuzzier"). I tried to get out but nothing happened. I was stuck in the dream. So I just went for hurting the girls in my dream. I'm not violent or anything like that; never been in a fight. Something happened that made it hard to get to the first girl anyway, something that happens a lot in my dreams : not being able to move quickly when I really need to. Kind of like a slow computer or like my dream can't keep up with running. It's like trying to move through mud. Another part of the same night included me trying to get into a vehicle fast... same problem. When I tried, it was kind of like trying to change a song in my head when a song is annoying me. Any suggestions as to why it feels that way or how they're connected?

Has anyone else had the same problem trying to get out? They tried, but just couldn't?
