It's been 2 months. You doing it again or what? If that was me, I would've gotten mad embarrassed and then move on. So what if you're labeled as a freak? Embrace it. You probably heard this lame advice a bunch of times but it's true.

I had a lot of free time. I'm very busy at the moment with school. But I still do weird things... or things I considered people would consider strange. At lunch, I often meditate. Sometimes, I think people may find it strange... but often it's the whole contrary, they come to me and they say I look zen, and I make them feel like meditating! I accept a lot more to feel embarrassed... I learned that it's okay but that there's not need to push the embarrassment further with thoughts processing. I also thought it was strange for me to speak about projection. Actually, when you use the right words, many people are very interested! The other day, I told two of my classmates that this morning I had woke up outside. They were like "What? How did that happen?". I was cracked up and I then told them I went back to my bed and found myself sleeping there! Then they both shared that they had experienced onieric lucidity.

I meditate a lot. In silence or with a mantra. This is how I sing my mantra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj74MCHdyGo I didn't edit my vocal, but it's a double layer for echo. The feeling I get when I vibrate this way is plain incredible... but it's hard to maintain, I still need practice. I would like to make an art of it. It also brings out visuals way more easily. Plus, the physical vibes are strong, so it adda up to the noticing of meditation. I was very embarrassed to do this at home with my brothers around. I just told them I was doing my usual weird things... and they said "yeah we know you are weird".

Lately, I also did the most embarrassing thing in the world for me, I invited a girl I barely knew for a coffee. All day, my heart raced badly... but even though I was stressed, I had an amazing day... when I was waiting for her at the yoga, my heartbeat skyrocketed. I knew I was going to do it and I just accepted the feelings. Words went all wrong out of my mouth... but she accepted my offer! I was so happy and so proud! It was a success for me, my goal was merely to ask. It turned out she was shy when I asked and she doesn't have the time, isn't interested. That hurts a lot because I met her in the astral and in dreams so many times, kissed and hanged around together. But we talk when we see each other... so it's pretty cool. All in all, I think it's okay to feel embarrassed, what's wrong is to push the anxiety with thoughts processsing. Say I blush, then I tell myself "I must look like a tomato! I look stupid! Hot! Hot! Hot in here! I wanna be somewhere else!"... things just get worse than they really are. There's a book that really helped me lately, it's "The power of now" by Eckart Tolle. It's simple, rational yet spiritual and effective!

That isn't a natural gift my friend!  :-)

This has all come from Patience, Practice and Perseverance!

The only natural part of it is my will to succeed.

I know that patience, practice and perseverance are fruitful. But we were all born with specific talents or aptitudes. For some it's music, others sports or intellectual activities or arts... and for some it is projection. Of course, if we don't have the aptitudes, the 3 P are the way to go to develop competences. Yesterday I received a boxing training at a local gym. I got to think that succesfull boxers all follow a sort of similar training in which they involve themselves fully... their training is different from a cyclist, a jogger, an halterophile. That got me wondering what kind of training a projector should invest himself into... apart from meditation, holding a dream journal, making intentions, reading about projection... how to be successful? Obviously I need to project as much as possible, this is the practice itself, but I can't practice as much as I want... I manage to project 3-5 times a week but it's often too short... I suppose I will keep up with the 3P because I sure am making progress for something I started to do last summer... I played hockey when I was younger and I sure didn't became an NHL hockeyer in half a year!

Hummm that is what I thought... but I'm still confuse. Why did the vibes only go stronger when I tried to just relax and notice to phase in? Maybe I should have imagined a place where I wanted to be instead of just noticing?... I suppose this may be something that comes with practice?

darkraigne, for me vibrations doesn't feel cold or hot. The other day I was sitting on one of my leg... I'm not sure how to say that, but you know the electric feeling or ants you get in a body part when the nerves are compressed? It's very very similar except it's a whole body feeling, more or less stronger. But Bedeekin seems to point out something to which you could relate.

I found myself walking outside in the fresh air this morning. I wondered how I had came there and decided to go back in my room. Upon entering my bedroom, I found myself sleeping in my bed. My underwears were different and I was sleeping without my blanket and in a different position. I decided to touch myself and I was surprised to feel the soft and warm texture. I also enjoyed to look at my physical shape... I thought I was pretty hot lol. Seems like a parralel world near the RTZ (I have been experiencing what seems to be other me for a few months now). I acquired my lucidity and started to walk around the house... then I was took behind my eyelids into the vibrations. Now I have been experiencing with phasing and I read the vibrations are not even a needed stage to project. My question is: can you transform the vibrations into a phasing experience? Remaining still and sort of clicking-in rather than separating in the classic way? I waited... I saw some geometric shapes for a short moment, tried to hold my thoughts, but I never got to the numbness feeling I experienced with phasing, the vibrations got stronger and stronger and faded away. Now I am thinking I should just separate the next time it happens... but in your experience, is it possible to go from vibrating to phasing? Both feelings seemed rather different to me! Thank you so much and good night, sweet dreams :)

Yes it's pretty amazing to have a natural gift to project from meditation, to remain awake from A to Z. This is one of my goal, but I'm taking it easy for now, step by step. I would also like to be took to my settings of choice (like your beach Lion), but it seems a little harder to come up and hold on to the scenario, but I will check this out in not so long. I just recently figured I have a new dream and it is to master projection. I used to be a drugs addict... not so long ago, someone came in my dream and told me "You were a stoner, now you are a projector!"  :-D

Neat experience!  When I meditate I usually go OOB but if I just hold still (not try to leave my body) and keep looking into the void noticing the lights, patterns and such, I'll start to have a lucid experience.--like a crystal clear dream only I'm awake.  Am I phasing??

Well, I am by no way an expert, but phasing seems to be the most basic natural way to go OBE, what you describe seems to fit. It's about noticing what's going on eye closed, having all your attention on your visual field and what's happening there... if you can do that from meditation, that's amazing! I think one know when he phases, there's that numbing feeling that grows and grows stronger then... click! Well that is in my experience. If you wanna know more about phasing, that's where I learned about it: http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2011/02/28/my-phasing-primer-pdf/

Lionheart, I guess being a good observer is what those questions seems to point out to... I will become a master observer from now on lol  :-D

Well, I didn't ask any questions... they are questions I am going to ask myself next time so I can get myself out of playing those games. Apparently, it's supposed to bring out a more profound awareness... because now I got stuck with playing those games without thinking further! Lately, I was dreaming of a cartoon, and upon wondering if I could acquire lucidity and become a character within the animation... well I zoomed out of a television screen in some basement, being in the "astral". I am hoping it will have similar results.

Lol a butterfly in the Wal Mart! You guys are weird... and I love it! ;)

I recently read about the phasing method... after three nights of trying, I was quite impress to see how well it works! I drifted off to sleep, while remaining focused inside, then at some point, I noticed a sort of numbing feeling which got stronger and stronger as I remained still. It sort of clicked in... and now I have done it two nights in a row, each time I then saw a map, like it was a video game. Then I was took into the game. The first simulation was called "Dino Land"... I saw dinosaurs and flied around, but it was nothing too real. The other game was a Role Playing Game, an old style of 3D. Now, I figured I was merely in what Xanth calls lucid awareness in his e-book... I will try asking myself the questions "why I am here? How I came here? etc." next time. In any case, this method is very cool, the numbing feeling of phasing out... it's quite different from the vibrations, I actually loved the feeling! I know it's nothing too great, but just thought I would share... to any beginners like me, I really recommend phasing! Much thank to Xanth and his blog where I read about this!

EDIT: This is a little off-topic but the same night I first phased, I was took into a frightening trip flying upwards... then at some point I came out and I saw a very real scene with an alien. He was humanoid and had a similar physical charateristic as me. It's sort of a rare thing, but I will keep it private. Anyway, what he said was just weird... he asked if my brain was light enough and if I was enjoying the experience so far. I'm left thinking I may have came from somewhere else. I really don't know, that sure was weird!

Mr_coffee, it's funny because years ago, I did the same thing as you while on psychedelics! It was midnight, I looked outside and in fear I knew I would be going out in the woods to confront darkness. I walked out and on a rock in the middle of a brook, I sat down, and closed my eyes to look further at the darkness! When I opened them again, I was astonished to find so much light within the darkness! I wandered in the woods as I had conquered my fear! ;)

I know what you mean... I wish it was happening all the time! It's good that you know you are experiencing exactly what you should be experiencing. It's already a blessing that we have this ability to go out of body... right now I am having one powerful experience each month... but it's like it's never enough, but let's be grateful! :D

No reason to be afraid of the mirror! I always try to get a look at myself in a mirror when I am projecting. For a few months now, I have experienced being someone looking similar to me but being sometimes very different. Then, not so long ago, I had this highly psychedelic dream. I was looking at myself in a mirror and I kept morphing into many different people who looked alike, male and female, more or less beautiful. I love the mirrors... and I now highly believe in the idea of multiple me in other realities.

I like open-minded people! :D

It's not like I tried to experience Third Body... I just read the book and had experiences that seemed to relate. For now, I haven't read much, I am finishing the Journeys as I begin my own journey so to say. I get your point when you relate to physical and non-physical realities as simulations. I am exploring and acquiring my own experience of the OOBE... I will be sure to read experiences from as many different people as possible to get a different overview of the whole thing. Concerning the metaphor of the second, third body, etc. I think it relate to different state of consciounness.

Hello Pulsers, I haven't been here for a couple months. I'm very busy with my life. When I started to read "Far Journeys" I started to have the following experience. It just happened again this afternoon. I go for a nap, then I find myself sitting down by the window in my room. Then I start to think it would be nice to go out of body. There's no feeling of vibrations, but I attempt to project, but it's like I'm blocked. Then next I just bring the vibrations into this dream or energetic body (second body?) and then I try again. With the vibes, I feel I am close to dissociation, I feel I become something much lighter and floating... yet again I can't complete dissociation. I have had this experiences a couple times... it will happen again. A few weeks ago, three times I was about to be successful, but a pair of arms grabbed me tightly, or I was throw a knee in my back... What's going on there? Is it what Monroe refers as the Third Body? Any ideas on how to complete separation? It seems like the next step for me...

Hello Frail and welcome to the Pulse! I could be wrong but it seems we are mostly males here? How is astral projection discussion mostly a male thing, I wonder why!

Hello there,

I think I may be helpful in this area. My journey into new realms of dimensions started with the use of mind altering substances. First, people who never dwelled in this kind of experience won't be able to give you a proper answer because of their prejudices and strong emotional and social conditioning. If you read Monroe book and paid attention, he pointed out that he did think that hallucinogens may be useful in getting into astral projection. He mentions he had a few experiences. I remember reading that Stephen Laberge, who published studies on lucid dreaming, also used low doses hallucinogens, which made it easier to get into the state. And it is indeed true! This is fact, psychedelics drugs increase consciousness in various degrees. There is a scale used by psychonauts (travelers of the psyché) and developed by Alexander Shulgin (a famous chemist who developed over 200+ mind altering substances, see his books PIHKAL and TIHKAL). It goes from + to ++++, a +4 being a profound transcendant experience.

Those experiences have long lasting aftereffects! I have yet to see it ending! When I was 18, I was an atheist, I thought ghost stories were funny and was very rational considering the north american education I received. Then one day, a plant spirit thought me about God. I laughed so hard because it was so obvious everything that existed, including myself, was God! It was one of the few +4 I experienced. Mind you, whatever people says about psychedelics, it is no easy path! There is no easy way. You may experience something really cool, have strong visuals, but in my experience, a "crack open the head" trip was very rare. It is also no easy path because it can mess with you in all possible ways! The bliss can be addictive and delusional. I compare it to flying during a projection, yes it's feel awesome, but does it get you any further?

Each will follow his own path. There is not such a thing as a better way and a less good one. Everyone is different and every story and events are pefectly acceptable. Mine lead me into heavens and hell. I tried every possible drugs, not just hallucinogens. I lost everything: my friends, my home, my jobs, I quit school, I was so sick I wanted to die... now I see clearly that it was merely an experience, an extreme one, but it has shaped me into someone I am so in love with today! I am so grateful it happened. Psychedelics also played a major role in opening me to the experience of lucid dreaming. I am also 100% positive that it eventually lead to natural OOBEs. It started once I was done with withdrawals. I then began a new journey!

I won't discourage you from trying. In the end it is your choice. I am warning you to be very careful. Harm reduction is the only way to go when it comes to hallucinogens and drugs. Whatever you say, people are going to take them, especially if you tell them it's wrong, especially if you tell them it's wrong! I know people who uses hallucinogens once in a while. In South America, ayahuasqueros use the potent DMT brew called Ayahuasca, a plant spirit knew as the "Plantas Maestras" who allows communication in-between humans and plants spirits. It is used for vision and healing. In Peru, there is even a drugs rehabilitation, the Takiwasi center which use Ayahuasca to heal drugs addicts! This personal experience is a very good example: http://csp.org/nicholas/A32.html I also recommend Stephan V. Beyer excellent book on Upper Amazon Shamanism: Singing to the plants, also see his blog here http://www.singingtotheplants.com/ Ayahuasca has proved to be useful to heal severe conditions such as PSTD in war veterans. Concerning DMT, I suggest reading DMT: The Spirit Molecule by Dr. Rick Straussman, also see the move by the same name by Mitch Schultz.

If you pay attention, something crucial happened in the 1960 which impacts on our modern society are way beyond what we can imagine. Think about it, the counterculture, LSD, DMT,  mushrooms made their ways in Occident at the same time the New Age really started! It was also in the same period that Monroe had his experience and Seth started to talk through Janes Robert. In Journeys #1, chapter 12, Monroe found himself in an hospital, a man tells him he will need a new injection treament. Monroe asks why and the man tells him: So that humankind can evolve. In chapter 9, he reads the following message: "For pure psychic results, take six drops of a chemical in a glass of water". Something happened in those ages, it sort of truly began there. And if you can go into astral projection without any sort of aid, that's cool. But most people are so spiritualy absent (I was one of them!) nowadays that I believe that Nature introduced us to entheogens and psychedelics for a reason! They have been used for thousands of years so why didn't they remain hidden in the jungle? Man needed a shock before he destroys everything, so Nature is responding in order to bring us awareness. It can be seen in the migration of mushrooms... they moved up in North America following the patterns of deforestation. I could go on and on on how and why the psychedelic culture is so vital and important! Just a few more interesting facts...

In the right setting, It can be the kick in the butt anyone need to open the eyes of his mind! Recent studies on psilocybin on terminaly-ill people revealed that psilocybin allowed patients to have a spiritual experience and to prepare themselves for death. It also points out to be useful in the treament of depression. Ibogaine (found in the Iboga roots in Africa) is also widely used to treat heroin addiction, both by allowing one to get in touch with his inner problems and by cutting off the withdrawals! If you want to look down on people who use psychedelics drugs, don't be upset if people offer you funny faces when you want to share about the astral realities! I think our society has the same wrong attitude towards psychedelics as with sexuality! If you have any more specific question, I suggest you first check www.erowid.org and also www.bluelight.ru the Psychedelics Message Board. You will find the right people there, The Astral Pulse is a really cool place, but it may not be the best place to discuss such things. I will also be glad to answer you if I can. Personally, I do not use psychedelics or any drugs anymore, I am done with that experience, like Thomas, I have seen, now everything is possible! Thought someday I may go to Peru to meet an ayahuasqero, this is the only way I see myself going back into this! But this would be a totaly different story!

You have been AP for 39 years? Wow talk about a journey! I just started last summer... though I have been involved in altered states for over 8 years. I had a similar experience involving parallel worlds the other night. It seems like I was a mental patient in an hospital... I told the nurses I was sorry, I was not from this world. They laughed at me! No wonder I was in an institution lol!

I dunno if you can consider this astral projection... but back 5 years or so ago, I was experiencing with a mild tryptamine compound called Iprocin. It was suppose to be mild but I had a breakthrough experience. I was in my room and I had peaked and my body turned to an emanation of the most beautiful light! I had never read about the "body of light" literature... next thing I knew is that I was took to another realm were I realized how perfect everything is. To travel there, my consciousness went through gigantic wheels made of ever-transforming colours and shapes like Tibetan mandalas in motion. I went through many of them, maybe 7-9, each time I was thinking "Wow! This is never ending!". Then I emerged into whatever can be called the most profound state of bliss of being I ever experienced. I cannot explain this into words, it cannot. In my mind I could not stop repeating "This is incredible! This is incredible!..." and so on. Then suddenly I would find myself back in my bedroom, I thought I would be able to remember where I had been only to find myself a few moments later wondering where and what had happened and thinking "Uh oh! This isn't possible! This was insanity! It was psychosis!"... and then the next moment I would go back there and "I would know again" and experience this profound deep state... only to return back and thinking it was pure insanity... It went on for many times... As of today, I can't recall where and what happened, but I was left with a powerful lasting impression. That was my most profound experience... my life became an hell because I got involved in all possible drugs, finally got clean and was awoke one night this summer with those strange vibrations and knew I could go out... and it was the beginning of my new journey I am pursuing! Now I know I don't need any mind altering compounds to explore reality, it's all within us!

I just tried Abyss during meditation and it seems very very interesting! First I noticed my body became sort of pleasantly heavy and at the same time I felt rush of energies just below my navel and sometimes I felt similar energy in my heart. It's nothing new to me but it felt stimulated! I entered the hynagogic state many times i.e. I started to see pictures and hear things while still being awake. At some point, I wanted to force the vibrations into my meditation by mimicking them. I felt something quite similar through all my body and my heart started to pump heavily so I lowered the intensity... I was a little surprise at the intensity and a little afraid at how my heart raced! First time I use any binaural beats, if I had lied down, huge chances I would have been out there. I will try it at bed night, it's very interesting. Thanks for making this free file available!

BTW I am deaf from my ear and there was no problem!

I got to think a lot about the "vampire" thing. I know for a fact I don't suck out blood for my diet, but what I think he meant is that I may be involved in stealing energy with violence. It was a symbol, though I am not sure how I am doing that! I am trying to find out as well as to find about my dark side. I was confronted to it a few days later last December!

Quote from: Bedeekin on January 18, 2013, 17:40:38
Maybe you are banned. You insisted on calling them gnomes. They may be very touchy about that. They were already a bit annoyed by your silly questions. One even called you a vampire.

I didn't insist to call them "gnomes" (see the parentheses), I asked if they were. Since it is my only point of reference, I use it. In another dream, I was checking a dictionary and I saw a picture of those beings and the name was something like "skafyre" or "shafyre". And why do you say my questions are silly? I am myself a little touchy while you say this! I am quite new to OOBEs and I act like a child with a new toy, in a new playground. Please let's not judge one another one experiences and offer advices, tips and positive comments.

Question, should I practice this when I am awake or when I go to bed? Or both? I cannot yet project if I don't to go bed for sleep. Does it act like binaural beats or something like that? I will try it right now while awake. Thanks for sharing.

Edit: Well I tried it for 30 minutes and it was pretty cool! I saw butterflies, fairies, dragons, soldiers, a pope, stars, planets and the sun, a luminous Jesus Christ or the like of and finally a princess and some sort of marriage. I tried not to force anything but sometimes I have a thought emerging from the music and it becomes a visual. I don't think of anything in particular. I just think "princess" out of nowhere and it appears. I will try at low volume at bed tonight!
