First I would like to say hello to everyone. I used to be very active on the forums last year but I got extremely frustrated when I could never project and just gave up. Well, I am almost positive I projected last night without even trying, it just happened on its own.
I was dreaming about playing a piano piece that I am currently working on. Then suddenly I was back in my bed laying down, accept I could feel both of my legs floating, as if I was holding them up at an angle. Then something in my brain just clicked I suppose. It went something like "Holy crap! I'm sleeping...and I know it!" So I then willed myself to sit up and I did but it was extremely difficult to stay up so I grabbed onto my window ledge which is right next to my bed. Even then, I still felt myself drifting back down into my body so I sort of "asked for help" (I more or less willed someone to help me out of my body) The next thing I knew I felt another hand grab mine and help me sit up. Now here is where it gets really crazy.
So I am now sitting up in my bed, fully aware that my actual body is laying down and I'm sleeping. I look at my wall and the posters that are on it. Now I can't actually see them, but I could. Its very hard to explain. The writing and pictures on them were very distorted and the text kept changing. Everything seemed to be violently jolting back and forth. It was kind of scary, but I made the big decision to float up out of my body completely. I then grabbed on to whoever or whatever it was that "helped" me out of my body and suddenly I was skyrocketing upwards. I can't say how high up we went, but I do know we went well into the sky.
This whole experience was a bit alarming so I willed myself back into my room. So I sat on my bed and kept telling myself "OK wake up now" but it wasn't working and it was very scary. At this point it was odd because I was in my body but I couldn't move or get myself to wake up, yet I could see ahead of me as if I were laying down with my eyes open in bed. So I got back up and lined my astral body up with my actual body and POOF I was awake. It was quite a rush.
My theory is that I was about to wake up from dreaming and I just happened to become mentally aware of it, just at the right moment.
