The term astral separation is used in place of astral projection because the account has been observed by many that the astral body naturally separates from the physical body at the onset of sleep (the problem being, suggestably, the subjects lack of awareness during the separation process). Following that, there is another problem: the subjects lack of a sufficient enough degree of awareness on return to recall memories). Astral projection, here, is deemed inaccurate because it implies propulsion--or the implementation of unnecessary effort to bring about the separation. Albeit, though many spontaneous astral separations occur do to propulsion. Nevertheless, this post stresses, that the natural separation is achievable by simply retaining awareness as the physical body experiences dormancy (falls asleep)

Mantra FARAON

A mantra might help to get past subconscious impediments when trying to still the mind for an astral separation. The things which are seen in the transition period of the astral bodies separation from the physical one as images and sounds are onsets of the actual dream occurrences that take place in the astral plane. Such images, sounds, sensations, etc. are the reason why most people have vague or semi-real astral experiences. The astral can appear far more substantial with the removal of dreams.

With a mantra it is possible to fall asleep consciously. An estimate of how long it might take to do a mantra is around an hour. Also, mantras can have the effect of causing lucid dreams.

Pronunciation:

FA (as in Far)

RA (as in Far); the R is trilled like a motor.

ON (as in Stone)

Each phrase of the mantra is chanted prolonged, mentally:

1. First, lay in a comfortable position, or sit in a comfortable posture or chair.

2. Inhale slowly and deeply. Then, slowly exhale (mentally) saying FAAAAAAA

3. Inhale again, and again slowly exhale (mentally) saying RRRAAAAAAA

4. Once more inhale, (mentally) saying OOOOONNN upon exhalation.

5. The mantra is (mentally) said on and on repeatedly.

Inhale...
FAAAAAAAAA(exhale)
Inhale...
RRRAAAAAAAA(exhale)
Inhale...
OOOOOOONNN(exhale)
Inhale...
FAAAAAAAAA(exhale)
Inhale...
RRRAAAAAAAA(exhale)
Inhale...
OOOOOOONNN(exhale)

RRRAAAAAAAA(exhale)
Inhale...
OOOOOOONNN(exhale)

QuoteLet's begin by developing attention, being more attentive to the five senses. This can and should be done while reading. In fact, it should and can be done any time:

Exercise 1 (Three-Fold Attention)

1. First, begin by bringing the attention to floor, 'notice' the ground under foot. Do this while still looking at the book and reading, and continue to do it after reading this step. When it can be done for a good moment, first hold it for five seconds, and then move on, while still holding it...

2. Now, if that can be done, try something a little harder...With the attention on the floor and on the book, bring some attention to the wall, just ahead. Do it while looking at both the book and the ground...

3. Ok, hold these three objects—the wall, the floor, and the book—for ten seconds, don't loose attention to them...

Now stop. If that worked, move on to the next thing. If it didn't, try it again until it works, till the three-fold attention can be held for what seems like ten seconds.

Exercise 2 (Ticking Clock)

4. Now, if there is a ticking clock in the room, if it can now be heard after it was mentioned great, keep the attention on it while reading. If it can't be heard, hear it. Ok, while hearing it, direct attention to the ground. Now see the ground and the book and hear the clock all at the same time for fifteen seconds (listen to 15 ticks of the clock to tell)...

If it can be done longer, keep doing it, till just the slightest attention is lost (do it as long as possible, up to 20 seconds if possible)...

Now stop. Notice how easy it is to tune out? To loose attention to the senses?

This is an intriguing observation. It's not necessarily concretely true, but it's notable nonetheless.

Years ago I used to practice the traditional eastern sanskrit root mantras for the exercising of the chakras. I practiced the mantras for many months. A curious fact was that, while practicing the root mantra OM (which is said to stimulate the frontal (third eye) chakra) I used to hear a chakral echo resonating from around the region of my upper chest (where the heart chakra is said to be located). At the time, such an occurence had no significance.

Years later, I began practicing untraditional western mantras, taught by an awakened being named Samael Aun Weor. According to Samael, the root mantra O (the vowel sound) corresponds with the heart chakra: which explains why I was hearing the echo coming from the region of the upper chest. Samael also gave corresponding consonants which are said to further amplify the vibratory affects of root mantras (according to him the root mantras for the major chakras are all vowels). In accordance with their hearable resonance in bodily regions, so far this has proven to be true.

Try recalling memories just normally...then try to recall them when doing daily sessions of the mantra A. According to Samael, the root mantra A stimulates two chakras located near the region of the lungs, up along the spinal column, which hold memories of past lives.

To find out more about Samael's mantras read his book entitled
The Three Mountains.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Attention
September 06, 2006, 16:43:34
QuoteThere are many keys to achieving astral projection.

First, there is the necessity of sustained consciousness. It's typical while laying in bed, with the eyes closed, and doing nothing to become unconscious and fall asleep. So, what we want to focus on is how to fall asleep without loosing consciousness.

Who has ever had a daydream? With a real daydreaming consciousness is lost of everything that is around—the entire outside world. There is a dream taking place in the day. Minor daydreams can be considered any mental activity which carries the attention away in the day. With that complete consciousness of the outside world is not lost, but focus on a task might be lost, resulting in the stopping of the task. Consciousness is only lost of the task, not things in the surrounding world. For example, while writing something important down the hand, unknowingly, stops and thoughts of something that happened the other day begin to enter the mind.

A second key to falling asleep consciously is attention. It helps to have the attention on something so that consciousness is not lost. While attention is on something it is possible to notice that it is repeatedly taken away by random thoughts. Attention builds with continuous use. With continuous use, it's possible to get through the random web of thoughts.

One key to maintaining attention is reciting a mental phrase or sound. There are also some phrases which can have psychic effects. These are known as mantras:

The mantra that's going to be explained empowers a certain organ of the astral body. It should also help with maintaining attention while falling asleep.

When trying to astral project one important thing to avoid is disturbing the body, so that sleep will come (because astral projection comes with sleep). So, mantras which are used to sustain attention while falling asleep are said in the head, not aloud (so as not to disturb the body).

Also, this mantra, unlike most others, is best done mentally. With a regular mantra we are usually saying an elongated phrase or vowel. We inhale deeply, then slowly say the mantra each time that we exhale. With this mantra, though, there are no inhalations or exhalations, though it can help to first say it aloud to know what it should sound like mentally.

1. While lying in bed for sleep simply imagine saying the vowel sound E (as in see). Like this: EEEEEEEEEE...but in the mind the sound keeps going, whereas aloud it would be necessary to stop for a breath.

A good amount of time to start out with when building attention might be between 10, 15, or more minutes (depending upon whatever is comfortable). Personally, when starting out with mantras I said them for up to 45 minutes or an hour. In any case, attention develops with practice. It's possible to find, when first learning to concentrate, that its difficult to stay focused for ten minutes. On the other hand, it's only possible to get out of it what is put in. If a lot of practice is spent on attention, it will build. If little, its not difficult to guess what will come out of it.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / To Sleep
September 05, 2006, 20:08:40
QuoteMost people have dreams...Imagine, then, having an unusually long dream in which there is not even a gleam of suspicion that a dream is taking place. Imagine...walking to and from places, eating, even sleeping in the dream, and not even knowing that it is occurring? In this dream distant lands are traveled to, many people are met, and several years go by without even the slightest bit of cognition, suspicion, of a dream...
Imagine every now and then getting glimpses of the waking world. At instances, there are vague or clear misgivings--temporary escapes from the dream. With these considerable experiences one might ponder the possibility of the dream. That is, one might consider that there is some factor which is restraining the level of consciousness in waking moments.
What is it to sleep? Is sleep simply the process that occurs each night in the transition from waking consciousness to a void of emptiness and temporary inexistence? If it is possible to sleep at night, to fade, consider the possibility of also 'sleeping' in the day...

This was going to be a part of a book that I'm writing. It's been sitting around getting rusty. So, I decided to post it here:

QuoteTHE AWARENESS OF THE PRESENT MOMENT

This instant, I will ask you, the reader, to come to awareness of the physical senses. You must "wake up", because you sleep. Do you wander, what does he mean by I sleep?

I will explain my statement. Are you aware of the sound of the clock ticking  near you? Do you see your hands as you are reading this book? Or, do you feel that your foot is touching the carpet under it?

The common human being only has a selective span of attention (they are not aware of every stimulus that comes to their senses). Beings with an awakened consciousness are different. While they are walking they are also seeing every tree which lies before them.  They are feeling their foot touch the ground every step that they take. Or smelling the beautiful smell of flowers which they pass.

What is it that you are not seeing? What is it that you are not hearing? To wake up we should be seeing and hearing not only that that we ordinarily see and hear, but those things of which we are not ordinarily conscious of.

'See' the words that are in front of you. At this instant you might wander, what now does he mean by 'see'?

Again, I will explain. Everything that we perceive through the 5 senses of external perception is made up of various smaller details--those of which the common human being does not pay attention to, or merely overlooks. Observe these smaller details.

When looking at the wall, we should also be looking at the patterns on it. When observing two objects we should as well be observing whatever lies between them. If we are observing two chairs at any given instant, we should not only be examining the patterns on them but as well be paying attention to the table that lies between them. When listening to  music we should also be 'hearing' the tiny crackles and pops that the radio is emitting. The more that is perceived through the 5 senses, the better, and the stronger overall consciousness will strengthen.

The second foundation upon which we sleep is that known as the dream. While observing the world around ourselves through the five senses we might find that we are thinking about something that is different from the awareness. When this happens we might no longer be seeing the fan which is just to the left before our eyes. Instead, we are giving an imaginary speech in our head to a crowd full of people, though we might still be aware of the book that is before our eyes, or a portrait on the wall (awareness has been lost of the fan, or the sound of the ticking clock).

"Dreams" are involuntary, sub-conscious creations. They do not occur by our will but take place below our level of awareness. A dream is any thought, mental sound, or image, that takes us away from the attention through the outer senses of perception. We must 'wake up' from our dreams in the day, by means of heightened awareness through the outer senses of the present moment.

(I might add more to this later)

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / THE method
July 10, 2006, 01:00:32
From my experience, astral projection doesn't come easy. Some people spend up to several hours daily just trying to achieve a single split.

What a lot of people want to know is, what is "the key"? What is the quick-solution for astral projection. At times many even believe that they have discovered the quick solution. One night a certain technique might have worked wonders. The disappointment comes the following night, after the technique has already been posted on some random forum throughout the web, and the self-same person tries it again.

What happens? Why does the "quick-fix" not work again? The answer often lies in the particular circumstances that we were in at the moment of success...
It is not uncommon to receive aid from more spiritually-advanced beings in the astral who see those who are making good efforts and desire to achieve a conscious astral split.

Unfortunately, at this point the self-same person has already disseminated the method to some random forum throughout the web. Many people do this. There then become many random methods that either do not work at all, or that only work from time to time. Then people look at other methods (after being engrossed in the vast array of techniques that have gotten them no where); these very few other methods are given little attention. The unfortunate side to this story is that such methods, these others which I'm referring to, are the ones that actually work and which build with continuous use (though limitations they might have).

Few people are fortunate to come across these methods. I posted one such method, which I'm sure works marvelously, in this forum. It's very simple. So, perhaps for that reason it was given especially even less attention. I didn't make it up myself, but I've tried it numerous times with success.

I used to say mantras for up to hours a day while going to bed and before bed. I've tried random mantras and techniques for astral projection. The one that is posted in this forum actually works, when used long enough (with no other methods to deplete its effects). In other words, it works when used continuously, for a great amount of time and daily practice, when not mixed with other methods--which can have the affect of reducing or completely preventing all or any results.

I hope all who are interested in astral projection give it a sincere try. I hate to see such a method left in the dust.  Imagine...what could come of it if many people tried this, figured out it really does work, and began a daily discipline. An "authentic" method could arise and spread. Imagine what will happen if no one tries it. It will just be one of those few genuine gems which are left in the dust, obscured by the various methods throughout the web.

I also do understand that it might be possible that some things that work for some people might not work for others. However, having worked with other people and having at least a slight  glimpse of  knowledge of their experiences, and the experiences they have gained from certain methods, I can say honestly that we are all very similar; and, perhaps, undergoing similar circumstances. I have even been able to see that a groups' experiences reflects that of a single person. Whenever one person is doing bad, the rest of the groups seems to be doing so as well, and vice-versa; just as whenever one person is sick with a virus, many other people within the same city can often be found with the same sickness.

It seems strange, but there does seem to be an over-all current of astral and metaphysical experiences within groups. Perhaps, if the group would make supreme efforts, each single person might experience wonders...
Just an idea.

The mantra is as follows. I'm borrowing it from one of my previous posts:

I typically find that the sensations are at the most extreme when the physical body is unrelaxed. Sometimes there are spontaneous astral projection experiences, in which the body is unrelaxed (not completely prepared for sleep). Of course, the body relaxes naturally through sleep. The key is to learn to stay awake as the body goes to sleep. A mantra (a phrase that is said repeatedly) can help to do that.

Mantra FA-RA-ON

Mantra - A phrase that is ordinarily spoken prolonged to produce specific effects.

Pronunciation:

FA (as in far)

RA (as in far); the R is trilled

ON (as in stone)

1. Sit or lay down in a comfortable position to prepare for sleep.

2. Inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase FA, prolonging it: FAAAAAAA

3. Again inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase RRRAAAAA

4. Once more inhale. Upon exhaling [mentally] chant the phrase OOOOOONNNN

5. Say the mantra on and on continuously, for what feels like about an hour, two, or more. The application of the mantra improves with practice. It also has the effect of stimulating lucid experiences in the night.

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

FAAAAAAA...
RRRRAAAAAA...
OOOOOONNNN...

Note: Astral projection can be learned quickly with the application of mantras, though they have to be said generally for a good interval of time. In truth, the only true way to learn to astral projection is by astral projecting every day.

Good will to All!

I recall being in a room with people. I could hear what someone was saying to me. I could see him. I could even see others who were around in the room. A strange thing that I noticed was that I could not hear the sound of a clock ticking nearby. Whenever I noticed this I immediately heard it.

I have also had experiences in which I have not heard the sound of the refrigerator in the kitchen, or that I have not seen an object that was just to the left in front of my eyes. Whenever I think of these things, however, my attention shifts, so that I then see or hear them.

While sitting and chanting a mantra in the past I have noticed that at points I have stopped saying it and that I am thinking about something else.

While doing astral projection techniques many people notice that they loose consciousness at a point and fall asleep unaware. Or, they might notice that at points they stop doing the method--their attention shifts to random thoughts.

The problem with all of these shifts or losses of attention is a sub-conscious anomaly. The anomaly creates thoughts and pulls one's attention away from an activity or short-circuits (blacks out) one's consciousness. It is also responsible for the hypnogogic imagery which occurs in the process of sleep, and it is responsible for the dreams which follow into the astral plane.

One key to discovering the anomaly behind dreams, daydreams, random thoughts, and hypnogogic hallucinations is conscious retention through sleep (simply falling asleep without loosing consciousness). This is also a key to discovering that we leave the body and enter the astral plane each night upon sleep.

Another key that will in the discovery of the anomaly help is noticing whenever attention has been lost to things. For example, not hearing something, not seeing something, etc..

This is a method to directly exercise a chakra of the astral body at will. I've posted it here because it hasn't gotten much attention in the astral consciousness section.

For those who don't know, chakras are faculty and sense organs of the astral body. In most people they are commonly inactive. This post will focus upon the means by which the frontal chakra (located between the eyebrows, near the center of the head) can be activated and exercised at will.

STEP 1: The first thing to do is to give the chakra a 'warm up'. To be able to exercise chakras at will it helps to be able to hear them. To warm up the chakra (to a level in which it can be heard) a mantra can be used. Mantras are phrases or sounds which are chanted to produce psychic effects. Mantras are used for remembering dreams, astral projection, and various other purposes. The mantra that is in this thread exists for the purpose of activating the frontal chakra. To be able to further increase its vibratory activity, it has to be exercised at will.

STEP 2: The mantra I

Pronunciation:
I as in (see)

1. Sit in a comfortable chair.

2. Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose, filling the lungs with air.

3. Exhale. While exhaling say the vowel I, prolonging it, until the lungs are out of air iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...

4. Again inhale, through the nose, filling the lungs with air.

5. Upon exhalation again say iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, until out of air

6. Repeat the mantra on an on continuously for up to an hour.

STEP 3: After saying the mantra for days the frontal chakra should be hearable. The sound will be subtle, not as audible as ordinary things that are heard (almost like a slight ringing or whistling in the head). Some people are used to hearing chakras (when they are barely active) and mistake them for a problem with their ears; but the sounds are not.

When it is hearable, concentrate upon the frontal chakra and try to increase the sound and exercise it at will. Spend up to an hour doing it, replacing the use of the mantra. If the mantra needs to be said more to further stimulate the chakra then that can be done. However, the mantra doesn't work as well as exercising the chakra at will.

This is a simple form of meditation by which it is possible to enter the Causal Plane.

1. Lay down in preparation for sleep.

2. Mentally imagine saying the vowel O, continuously prolonging it.

3. Imagine that for what feels about at least an hour or however long it takes to fall asleep.

The technique is very simple, but it is a very effective method for getting to the Causal plane. By falling asleep consciously we enter the astral plane. By falling asleep with a completely silent mind (perfect concentration) we enter the Causal plane.
