Does anybody know why the precursors to OBE's have to be so startling, loud, and annoying; sometimes painfully disturbing in a "Twighlight Zone" kind of way? Why can't it be more of a subtle, calming, unchaotic experience... I'm referring to the loud roar that is often heard... the strange "Twighlight-zonish" sounds, the loud obnoxious bangs, and the sometimes eerily creepy random voices... Does anybody know why it can't be a more joyous & wonderful transitioning experience into OB states? Why does it have to be so utterly weird?

Curious,

I was wondering if anyone here would mind going into detail about what they actually experience from start to end with an OBE? (i.e. from lying in bed, to feeling the precursors, to the actual feeling/experience of separating, to their experiences while out of body, to re-entry, to awake, etc.)

I've felt all the precursors to an OBE, even felt what seemed to be my astral legs passing through the bed sheets, but no further...

Thanks for any replies,

A few years ago I awoke inside of my bed, and realized I couldn't move... Before reading about sleep paralysis, I had NO idea what was happening to me, and it freaked me out... The part that I'm trying to understand is that while paralyzed, I heard this horrible screeching sound inside of my head, it was a discordant/cacophony type sound, like a train or airline jet taking off directly inside of my head... like somebody stuck a guitar amplifier up to my eardrum and struck a thousand chords at one time. Does anybody know what this could possibly be?

One more thing that I meant to write in my last post, but forgot.

I took a "History of Religion" class in college, and I remember reading about a documented factual account of an ancient Chinese sailor who would go out of body in order to navigate the open seas. Apparently he would go into his meditative trance, leave his body, and soar over the open ocean searching for the route to the location that he would be traveling to the next day. Then, when he returned to his body, he would follow the same path that he had taken in spirit and find his way there every time!

I found that pretty interesting,

Greetings everyone! I'm new to this board and have a question about chakras.

My question is about deep meditation and stimulating the various chakras throughout the body...

I have been able to relax my body and enter into the 3-D blackness... Once there I noticed that any small sound in the room will cause me to jolt out of that state. Once there however, I notice that my body seems to vibrate and I begin to feel lighter  (like my physical appendages are lifting off of the bed.) After that, I feel breathless, and my heart starts to pound relentlessly (it actually feels like it's about to explode!). That's as far as I can ever get though. I've got two questions:

1.) Why does my heart feel like it's about to explode? (But, oddly enough... it's not in a bad way.)

2.) How come nothing ever happens after I get to the level where my heart is pounding rapidly?

Thanks for any input,
