I'm managing to have 1-3 OBEs a week, but I haven't made it far beyond my physical body and when I leave my room I always shift into a dream. But I ran across this experience twice and I wonder if anyone knows more about it.

I awoke and realized I was simi-out of body. For whatever reason I wanted to look at my clock, so I reached for the desk with my awareness hands and grabbed a small square about three inches by three inches. I held it overhead feeling it. It was soft as cork. I accidentily tore it in half while playing with it, and when I turned the light on nothing was there.

The second time I actaully grabbed some sort of astral shadow of the clock. I could see the numbers and my hands holding them, but only the outline of the hands and not the body of the clock. I dropped the clock somewhere and when I turned on the light the clock hadn't moved.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Life

Hey Eukaryote, thats the spirit.  Depression can be an ugly ugly thing it sounds like you've come a long way.  I've read tons about depression, and the black mist that surrounds a person seemingly forever, but with all the wonders of life, the many facets of beauty that like an onion seem to permiate every living and unliving thing around you I can never fully understand it.  Yes indeed life is short too short to uncover all the mysteries it has to offer.  You can spend a lifetime just trying to comprehend the simpliest thing much less the intracasies of life.
If you can forget yourself, for a moment, concentrate...and try and contemplate a vast emptiness of blackness, a vacumn where nothing is or ever could be...no ideas, no hopes, no dispair, no dreams, nothing physical, emotional, nothing at all, complete-perfect emptyness, hold it and picture yourself there. And then open your eyes and look around yourself all over, at yourself, your surroundings, sights, smells, thoughts, things touching you all over, all the vast stimulations.  A world, a universe teeming with life, thoughts, the animate, the inanimate, a world full of wonder a play ground... a toy box wider and longer then the imagination could ever concieve. That is your world. And you have the power to see, understand, and appreciate it.  The power to see and consider, to feel and to touch...to think.  Indeed life is short but if you start right away hell who knows what could happen.
I always tell people when they feel depressed to find a nice strong oak tree, a real big one, take a good look at it, and do like it does....concentrate and grow toward the sun.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / I'm in trouble...

Never mind. I got most of it sorted out. It turns out that most of the guys weren't mad at me, but the one who was maddest the most seemed more enraged than implied, slamming the door on my then pushing me out of the room, even after I said three times that I was willing to talk and the others were trying to calm him down. They assured me that I should stop agonizing over it, which is good. I haven't been able to do any energy work with this on my chest. Sorry for wasting your time.

Next time your in sleep paralysis don't panic.  Concentrate on moving one big toe.  As soon as the toe moves the paralysis will end.

Energy work tends to go in cycles. There will be times when it goes unusually well and times when it doesn't seem like much is happening. It is a normal part of the process. What you can do now is observe how you gain and lose energy during the day. Strong negative emotions are a big waste of energy, for example. Some activities are pleasant and leave you feeling energized while others are just plain draining. Some people are good for your energy and there are some people you always feel tired around. Maybe now would be a good time to focus on relaxation and meditation. Maybe you could work on deepening your trance states. More time reading "Astral Dynamics"? Things will go faster again if you keep at it. Until then there are plenty of ways to stay productive.

Welcome to Dreams! / New Guy's LD

I'm not sure that undergoing an OBE really means you have left your body. I've always been skeptical about that one. I plan, in the near future, to unduce and OBE from a lucid dream and perform a few reality checks, to see whats goin down.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Dots?
September 26, 2002, 10:25:17
Ever since childhood I was able to see strange things at night while in bed. Faces, dolls and clouds floating near the bedroom ceiling, shadows on the wardrobe, lights, and eventually I'd hear weird noises and had tacticle sensations.

Most these things happenned and still happen only when I'm in a very relaxed state, so I think it's weird when you said the 'dots' could still be seen 2 days after you first saw them.

When you're very young it's easy to get into trance, and in the trance you get to see these hipnagogic images (halluccinations, illusions), they are a sketch of the dream that is about to begin, it means you're just starting to tune into the astral dimension.

For you to be sure, next time you see them, close your eyes and let yourself wander off to the dreamworld, it should take you no more than a couple of minutes at worse. Keep on paying attention to the process if you're willing to have an astral projection. If you don't find yourself somewhere else after doing this then I have no idea what these dots may be. Try consulting an oculist. LOL

Welcome to Dreams! / LC, OBE, or Astral?
September 21, 2002, 18:31:04
It might have been a dream, but it also most likely could have been a projection. I know nothing of OBEs but in dreams, what you normaly expect to happen happens, im thinking it was OBE but since u were expecting it to happen or believed it to happen, that could have been the reason, next time try to prevent them from melting? maybe that could be a test if ur in the astral or not.

Every man has their fear of dieing, whether it be of pain or not knowing where you are going, however, mine is the family, memories, and good times i leave behind.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Hi

I know exactly what you're talking about.  Many times for me, I go throughout the day just anticipating the chance to lay down and have an OBE.  Then, 10 hours later when I get that chance, I've noticed that my desire has significantly dwindled!

This is why one of the key things to having a successful projection is to have a strong desire!  I find that this takes immersing yourself in OBE-related things....like reading this board everyday, reading books on the subject, working on techniques every time you lay down, etc.

By doing that, you will slowly program yourself to always desire an OBE and increase your chances of having them more frequently.
