I've been looking for a good forum dedicated to astral projection for some time. This seems to be the perfect one. I am 16 years of age and I have been able to leave my physical body for as long as I can remember. It wasn't until I was about 10 that I learned that not everyone has the ability to project with hardly any effort naturally. I strongly believe that being able to project keeps me sane.

Okay. This is a long post. It is something that is important to me. For starters, I am new here. I am only 16 years old, but since I was quite young (as far back as I can remember) I have been able to easily shift my awareness and leave my body. Until two nights ago, however, I was never able to really visit alternate worlds during my experiences, nor had I had what I consider to be a near-death experience. The following experience occurred after 7 solid months of depression and 9 months of having no OBEs or memorable dreams. Now, after my recent experience, my depression has changed to a very high state of enlightenment and mild confusion. I remember EVERY aspect of the OBE/NDE, and feel a strong need to share it. Here it is. No exaggerations or fallacies.

I got into bed at around 9:30 on a Thursday evening, with Tool's "Lateralus" playing in the background. I listened to the CD all the way through and when it ended I noticed a very familiar feeling radiating throughout my entire body, and then some. My hands felt as if they were balloons, being quickly inflated and deflated, over and over again, growing larger with each inflation, until there was no pulsation, only a warm, weightless, buzzing feeling. This feeling grew, through my arms and up my legs from my feet simultaneously. All of the buzzing feelings met at my solar plexus. The joining of the feelings into one large feeling was something that I noticed, and may have been the remarkable happening that made me decide to try and astral project again. I tried to move the feeling from my body up to my neck and head, which I always found to be the most challenging part of total body relaxation. I did so with little effort. My entire body was vibrating and my mind was completely clear. I was beginning to be able to see my room through my eye lids, though slightly distorted, as was usual. I knew I could leave my body right then if I wanted, but I decided to stay in this state for as long as I could.

Another 50 minutes passed. I found it remarkable that I could stay in that one state for so long without any change. At this time I noticed certain points on my body moving, almost spinning. I have always been a fan of chakra meditation so I was no stranger to these feelings. All of my seven major chakras, along with the palms of my hands and feet were spinning, sort of like they were going to spin right out of my body. Through my eye lids I pictured on my body the seven chakras in different colors. After another five minutes the spinning feeling entered my elbows and knees. Another 10 minutes passed (please note that these times are all guesses on my part, I was not looking at a clock this whole time) and I found it nearly impossible to not leave my body right then and there. Unlike with all of my past experiences I was hurled out of my body without any effort. All I needed to do was let go.

As soon as I was "out" I found myself in a world that reminded me of a couple of DMT experiences that I had a few months ago, minus the entities (I never thought that mystical experiences as strong as this could be achieved without the use of drugs, to be totally honest). I remember hoping that I would remember this upon awakening, and I believe that that one thought marked the last normal internal dialog of the experience. After some traveling in this world that was mainly empty, other than some swirling three-dimensional objects and symbols which seemed to try and tell me something, I reached a veil of color that I recognized from DMT. I broke through into what appeared to be a vertical mine shaft with a small door at the end, with a lock in the middle. I rose up through the shaft to the door. The lock in the middle was shaped like a symbol that I saw in the previous stage, and I quickly noticed this connection. I waited, and suddenly something told me that the symbol meant, simply, love. As I realized this I felt a green beam extend from the center of my chest to the lock, and the door disappeared. The dreary world was left behind and I entered a room of very intense color.

The "color world" was the same shape and style of the mine shaft, except for the color and overall feeling that I got while in it. I went to the door, same situation, different symbol. I thought for some time and as the last answer came to me, so did this one. The symbol stood for language. Although I don't particularly like bringing up DMT so many times, the connections are uncanny. On DMT for me, and for many others as I have heard and read, people realize that they can use their voices to make things. I did this. I looked at the symbol and then spoke in a language completely unhooked from English that seemed to come naturally to me. As I spoke I saw a key form in front of me. Once I was finished speaking, the key finished forming. The door opened.

What I saw next was only slightly different from the other two areas, but the feeling I felt was much stronger. I was in a dark vertical tunnel with a blinding white light at the end. This is why I classify this as somewhat of a NDE. I felt like I needed to get to that point (I now strongly feel that if something in my room had distracted me enough to snap me out of this state, I would have completely gone insane). I rose up, higher and higher. I got to the light and started to hear a sound that was somewhere between a throbbing white noise type of sound and some weird techno beat. I entered the light and found myself in a place that was more beautiful than any place I have ever imagined.

I felt a feeling of wholeness. As if I was no longer "dextro". I was all of humanity and then some. The place I was in was sort of like a village made entirely of light, but there were no people really. All of the people were one person and I was part of that person. I apologize for this explanation but it is extremely hard to explain for me. I won't go as far as to say that I don't understand. As I do, and I did at the time.

Anyway, the experience ended as I felt myself shift to the center of this "village". I sensed that there were other beings there who were telling me to leave. Not in an angry way, in a loving way. I felt like something explained to me that it wasn't my time to be here, and that someday I will be. In the center of the area I found a ball of energy the shape and size of an egg. I got very close to the egg, and I saw what I can only put into words as the universe. I entered the egg and was shot through this universe at a very fast speed, as was not uncommon for me in OBEs. I moved until I found that I was hovering over my physical body asleep in my bed. Then, I re-entered.
