i know exactly what you are talking about, and i call that state "the gap" (being a tool fan and all... slipping back intooooo.....) yeah.. anyway...

i characterize the state with falling... you know... lalala i'm thinking...... ...... thinking............ thinking.............*GAP* no thoughts -> falling sensation -> adrenaline -> "whoah".... thinking... more thinking... repeat.... thinking... repeat... thinking... repeat......

etc.. until you actually manage to fall asleep

It's very curious.. I usually don't stay in that state for more than a second or two, becuase as soon as I realize I've stopped thinking, I've started thinking again.. I almost always feel like I'm falling, sometimes I hear voices, sometimes see things.. usually just falling...

the hypnagogic imagery however, if sustained for a long period of time is quite amazing.. I once saw an intricate geometric design of two paralell spinning figures interwined on a netted chessboard like pattern... it was amazing...

but.. yeah this state, it's so fun but next to impossible to stay in... if you stay long enough you can consciously choose to either enter a dream, or initiate projection, depending on just how much you let yourself see visuals, and how quiet you keep your mind.

the best time to get into that state for me is early morning upon having just woken up from a dream and right before i decide to go back to sleep i try to consciously wake up my mind just enough so it stays awake while the sleep process starts up... which kind of leads to body asleep mind awake.

i've tried napping a few times but i can never get asleep... i just keep hitting that gap and immediately jolting out of it and such.. and it's VERY tiring on you to do that....

Often for me the trance state comes on suddenly, like throwing a switch. It is really nice to suddenly feel warm and comfortable. It is still very physical, though, and no one has come to visit me in this state yet.

It doesn't sound like the vibrations, but I suspect that they don't have to start out feeling like an earthquake. They haven't ever come for me, either. They don't have to be there for you to project. Some people don't get them until after they project. :)

Better late than never for a response?

sadhu sadhu sadhu. which i believe transalates into excellent excellent excellent.

i would like to say how much i can feel your enthusiasm. i have had an experience like that which also changed my life and i recall how euphoric i was for the next week while telling everyone. also i remember how it didnt seem to excite everyone else the way it did me and i felt like i was all dressed up w/ nowhere to go kinda. no one wanted to hear anymore about what i was saying but i just kept up till it got old anywa.i can't say that i know exactly how you feel but i have an excellent idea.

your dream lasting that long is incredible. i don't know if it actually lasted that long or not but if you can clearly and vividly recall three hours of a dream.. that's impressive. i have read a few lucid dreaming books and they all say time isnt the same in our dreams as it is in waking life. i once read that there was a report of a lucid dreaming expert who lived one hundred years in one dream. i cant recall his name right  now.

milla jovavich is a pimp. well if girls could be pimps she would be one. no, i take that bck .. she is a pimp.

i believe i've been in love before but i've learned to accept that i'll never actually know anything and everything i think i know is just how i m perceiving things at that time. which doesnt take away from anything but makes me more aware of things.

i genuinely hope you are happy w/ what you are doing and who you are doing it w/ . things sound more than great, so they are that. seeing anyone this happy truly makes me ecstatic. thnx for sharing your life altering exp.
may the rest be great.

this quote isn't mine.. i stole it from someone in high school. it's so damn funny.

Welcome to Dreams! / My first ever LD!!!!!

Can I use you as a reference on that? http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

What is a good technique to either stay lucid for a longer duration

What's worked for me is try to keep most of the exhilaration and excitement under wraps and stay calm. Big emotional responses degrade atleast my LDs real quick.
Don't know how to goo about converting an LD to an OBE as I haven't the faintest clue what the big OBE handles like.

congrats on the move forward!

If I had to wager a bet I would say that it was not a reference to the physical sence of the phrase but rather this.  It sounds like maybe a reference to the "rush" that you can get from certain activities.  It is not the activity itself but the feeling it gives you.  Like jumping out of a plain, or bungee jumping.

Some  simply "get off" on hurting others.  Or even put this way, evil in essance, creates situations that cause high level emotional responces so that it can feed on it, or draw from the experience.  Simply put it/they "get off" by creating a certain emotional responce in others.  There drug of choice so to say.

Welcome to Dreams! / Is sharing Dreams wrong???
April 06, 2002, 09:41:14
Dear Bhikku,

I would not worry about sharing dreams.  I think it is fine to share dreams to get other peoples ideas and input.....the only thing I can suggest is to always remember that in the end that is all they can give you.  Ultimately, you are the best one to solve the mystery.  Often the things in your dream have a unique meaning to you and you alone.  Definitely do not worry about not dreaming again.  Everyone dreams no matter what.  The best read on dream interpertation is still the incomparable Karl Jung, in my opinion.  But I am a supper big fan of his and perhaps a bit too bias.

Respectfully,
Violet

Hi Bhikku, not sure if this would constitute as a psychic attack.
I,ve had many dreams in the past about not being able to speak, see or
move,I hate the ones where your running to get away from something
as fast as possible but seem to be getting nowhere, while the
pursuers could run like hell!
Anyway I dont get any of these effects while OBE,ing so I,d have to
say that they are dreams presented to you in a metaphorical sense &
closely represent real events in your life.
Feeling like you are being stopped from seeing something in real life?
Feel like your movements are being restricted in real life or your
job/class/course/direction in life got you feeling like you cant move?
Feel like you cannot say the things you wish to say or that your
words fall on deaf ears?
Well thats my spin on it anyway, maybe you will get some other advice
as well,I just reckon its probably things in your physical life, that
you have wanted to address & your subconcious is modelling it for
you in the extreme sense & hope I could be of some help.

Good luck on your journeys
P.S & start a diary if you havn,t all ready.

Greetings Bhikku!

I can only speculate wildely on this.

It might be that the intense white backdrop for your vision resulted in very little in the way of the usual complex and varied sensory input, and in a sense it resulted in a type of meditation where your mind is clear, and you can see images, possibly Astrally.

To put it another way, during day to day activity, your eyes and mind have a large amount sensory input to take in and process, and therefore swamp the subtler images and realms.

I hope that makes sense anyway - and of course I might be well off beam - it is just a thought

Best regards,

Adrian.

Hi Bhikku

If you can fight off falling into sleep, you can slip into a lucid dream in this way. I'm not sure about projecting out of your body, but you could always try!

When you see with astral sight, do you see just the room? Or do you see a mixture, or something completely different?

I was drifting off to sleep one night and a willow tree was blowing gently infront of me. The colours got brighter and i could start hearing. I knew I was still laying in bed, but i was laying on grass.

The dream slowly constructed (not sure if that the right word to use) itself around me. Most times i fall alseep (mentally) before it all happens. Other times i am mentally awake enough to slip in this way.

The best to you.
Paul
