First off I was not trying to have and OBE. I had read about projecting and lucid dreaming a while back but I had completely forgotten about it, although still very open to the possibility.
So this morning while I was watching tv in bed, I began to feel tired and started dozing off. I didn't want to fall asleep right then, so I tried to stay awake. Even with my effort, my lack of sleep got the better of me. A little while later (approxamitly 4 minutes according to my clock), I "awoke" and was conscious of noise from tv but wasn't able to understand any of it. I forgot about how I wanted to stay awake, so I just decided to continue my nap. A few seconds later I heard a buzzing in my ears, and a slight vibration throughout my body. The noise became uncomfortably loud (as if it were amplified when someone was speaking on the tv). I recalled reading about the buzzing/vibrating and knew what was happening, but since it was so painful, I thought if I turned off the tv the buzzing wouldn't be so uncomfortable. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I admit I was a little frightened, but knew it was just sleep paralaysis. I finally was able to move after much effort and turned the tv off. I tried to go back into the state again, but I was too awake.
So was this the first step in and OBE? If I experience it again, what is the next step I should do to seperate from my body?
