Practice, Practice and more Practice.  Victory belongs to those who believe in it the most. At first many times you still fall asleep. In time conscience willing yourself to stay awake will work. Tips.  Be well rested, don't lye in sleeping position also visualize with third eye. Time to reach trance varies with the person. I have read that if you lye in bed and position your arm raised while trying at attempt trance as you fall asleep your arm wil fall and awaken you.  Read books on AP and read this forum, there is alot of knowledge here. There are alot of good books on meditation. Good luck.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Self-hypnosis

I'm not a hypnotist by anymeans, but all they do is give you "suggestions" which you instinctively respond to.

So what I do during my relaxation stage is that I mentally give myself suggestions.  I mentally tell myself, "Ok, now you're beginning to feel very relaxed.  That's it.  You're beginning to feel yourself melt from your feet up to your head......"

There is no set script that I go by.  There are just general rules of hypnotism (self-suggestion) that you should follow.  Here are some of them:

1) I usually repeat things to myself.  I don't just suggest that I get relaxed and BOOM!  It happens.  I keep reiterating the suggestion over and over until I respond to it.

2) Never give yourself a negative suggestion.  In other words, don't use negative words, like "don't", "no", can't", and things like that.  Keep everything positive.  "You ARE starting to relax."  "You WILL begin to feel numb." etc.

Hope that helps. You should also do a Google search for things like "self hypnosis", "auto suggestion", and "hypnotism" in general.

I use breath awareness, and also practice the NEW system from Robert Bruce's book.

For me the answer is ignoring random tenseness.
What matters is the focus of your awareness. Try to focus on the astral and ignore anything going on with your body, tenseness, vibrations etc.
If you start paying attention to the tenseness here and a twitch there you're doomed, to put it bluntly. You're subconsciousness can and will create distractions to prevent you from achieving what it has llearned to think impossible.
Ignorance is bliss here [:D]

Whenever my eyes feel too tense, do you know what I do?  Of course you don't, so I will tell you!

I simply leave them open.  For example, if I am laying in bed, trying to work on some relaxation/projection exercises, if my eyes are bothering me (because they are flickering, or they have a lot of pressure in them), I leave them open and just stare into space.

This helps if you're in a dark room, although I don't see why this wouldn't work in the daylight.  You just stare straight ahead.  Don't stop yourself from blinking.  And don't stare intently.  The point is not to FOCUS but to RELAX.  After a few minutes, your eyes may start to feel heavy, and then when you close them, a sense of relief almost comes over you, and they feel 100% more relaxed.

At least, this is what works for me.

Jonas....

I for one didn't have any previous training....just an interest in the paranormal.  I'm not one of those people who you read about which say, "Yes, I knew at a very young age that there was something 'different' about me."  That is, aside from the yellow stains in my underwear.

In fact, I've stood by the statement that if *I* could have an OBE, than ANYONE can do it!  The only prerequisite I had before projecting for the first time was my desire and curiousity.  My first experience happened one night when I went to bed after reading a book on OBE's.  I woke up in the middle of the night, spontaneously, and began separating from my body.

I won't go into details, but let's just say that from that point onwards, I was hooked.  I began to read everything I could get my hands on.  This was five years ago.  Now, I have had what seems like hundreds of these things, and my desire to experience them more and more is even stronger than before.

So just keep reading up on them, asking questions here, and be patient with your progress.  This isn't a race.  I hope to read about your first experience soon!
