Hello all,

I was born into and grew up in a conservative Christian denomination. For most of my life I was told what to believe. I was trained to focus primarily on Christian beliefs. I have since completely opened my mind to all possibilities on almost all topics. I don't know what I believe and although it may sometimes feel chaotic and empty, there is also great freedom in having an open mind.

I have been interested in the subject of Astral Travel/Projection and have approached it from both a scientific and metaphysical perspective. In short, I can't say whether I believe it is true or not; some days I believe in it and others I don't.

Regardless, I have read various techniques on how to Astral Travel/Project and tried employing these techniques. I've also read a bit on Lucid Dreaming and am often able to tell when I'm starting to dream but it never goes beyond that.

Most if not all of the techniques I've tried have been unsuccessful. I'm not very good at focusing on a specific thing for too long. One thing I have tried is just closing my eyes, relaxing, and focusing on the darkness, more specifically what I could call focusing on a point in that darkness. It almost feels as if my eyes are crossing while doing so. I then think of or try to imagine my astral body leaving my physical body, as if it is struggling to pull away. When I do this I make my body "shiver" or slightly tense up as if it was the feeling of my astral body trying to pull away. I tried this last night and I've gotten "further" than before. The "shiver" seemed to mainly focus around my torso. It's an action that is at first conscious...in fact I can induce it even as I type. However the more I do it the stranger it feels. My breathing almost becomes shallow. I have to remind myself to relax and breath normally. As I continued doing this and focusing on the darkness I saw what could loosely be described as a very faint "object" of white mist. I then started to see very faint colours swirling in the darkness, similar to what I see when I close my eyes and rub them if I'm tired. Yet these swirls were slightly different then what I'm used to.

My question is, could this be the beginnings of a projection?

Thank you,
