Welcome to Dreams! / Lucid dream experience
January 02, 2004, 08:40:59
I had a lucid dream about 2 days ago.  I was having some sort of apocalyptic dream (which was really vivid), when I realized I was dreaming.  I then endulged in some pretty primal desires, sad to say.

But, after that was done, I decided to go exploring my dreamscape.  I was in a house, and walked to the back door and looked out of the glass sliding door.  In the back yard were too small pools of water in the ground.  They were about 4 feet across and maybe 6 inches deep, with stones around them, like little outside fish ponds.

I walked outside, then walked around the corner of the house.  There, leaning up against the wall of the house was a man, for some reason I think it was John Ridder (sp?), the guy from Three's Company.  I can't remember the exact conversation we had, but, he was saying that he was sent to talk to me.  To tell me that I need to be doing a lot more with myself in the area of spiritual progression, that I have a lot of potential that I was wasting.

I'm thinking that I just created him with my mind, that he was part of the dream but I'm not sure.  He then some weird stuff that kind of didn't make sense.  He said that he knew what his favorite shirt was when he was 12, and he wore it for the rest of his life.  I think he might of been conveying that he settled into a set pattern very young and basically wasted his life.  But, I don't know.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience, if John Ridder turns out to be my spirit guide, that would be hilarious, but like I said, I think I may have created it myself.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Indra's Net
November 05, 2003, 13:20:48
I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the concept of Indra's Jeweled Net, but someone made this picture and I thought it was a great depiction, so I thought I'd link it.

http://home.pacbell.net/gsasf/gallery_pages/indras_net.html

Here is a description of it (see top of page, small print)
http://www.heartspace.org/misc/IndraNet.html

Think of each one of us as being a 'jewel'.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / BWGEN presets
October 23, 2003, 11:59:22
Maybe there is another post like this, but I wanted people to list their favorite Brainwave Generator presets.

I just downloaded it a few minutes ago and so far I like the Tommie's Vibration Starter I read about.

"So basically what you think is what happens. Same thing with psychadelic drug use. I know not everyone approves, and I'm not saying I do. But, many people have spiritual experiences, and many people have hallucinations (atleast that is the word that is used). If you're tripping and you look at your friend, and your friends face is turning red, you may think "He looks like a tomato!", then wham! Right before your eyes his face transforms into a tomato."

I partially disagree with the statement that what you think happens. There is some truth to that statement in the little parts of life. But motivation is a key factor. How bad do you want this event to happen? Like in your dreams, you dream about there being peace in the world and that will come true. But some events are so big that I dont think you can change no matter how powerful a psychic you are. Somethings are inevitable and there extremely stuff to change.

But with some of the little things in life such as wanting to encounter a certain type of perosn or achive a basic goal as in loosing 10 pounds, then I can definitly see that happening.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Mind, Body, and Soul
September 28, 2004, 15:38:45
I think you need to consider that dream you had because the coffee may have triggered it but you could have had any kind of dream, why was it that particular dream and especially since it kept repeating itself.

I have lots of vivid dreams when I am anxious about something I am going to do, ie, if I know I have to get up early and I will have a stressful meeting, etc.  Then I tend to see lots of vivid dreams, however, the content of the dreams usually is not random.  They tend to reflect recent thoughts and usually insecurities.

For example, the other day I dreamnt that we were living next door to very rich people.  Their house was large, solid brick and organised and our house was made out of fibro/timber and was a total mess.  The people who owned the rich house were going to sell and I told mum that we ought to buy the house and move in and rent our place so as to pay for the mortgage of the new house.  I had such an overwhelming sense of being stuck financially, emotionally and physically (because of the apparent mess) and desperately wanting to escape.

A few days before this dream, I had watched a program on television about two households swaping wives.  One was poor and the other was rich.  While watching it, I realised that the thing that caused the poor woman to remain in her situation was the amount of negativity she had about everything in life.  I wondered if that is something true of myself although I do try to remain positive about things.  A couple of days later the dream came along, as if it reflected that discomfort I have.  My world at the moment is a mess and I am stuck in it and when I see people living easier lives, I do get even more negative about my life.  I think the dream allowed me to vent that frustration and to make the impossible, possible.

So whatever the reason for dreaming, don't discount the message in the dream.  Giving up coffee however, is probably a good thing though, it may be delicious but it does tend to have negative effects.

As a side note, this also seems to be the theory behind buddism, even though I have never read anything as direct as that.  It also seems to be there theory behind Robert Monroe's books.

But, these are my own conclusions, that I came by through personal experience/insight, or whatever you want to call it, and before I ever read anything on buddhism or any of Monroe's books.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Channeling common sense
December 30, 2003, 13:57:55
your not ranting at all, you are telling us what you feel.
i can understand your feelings about this situation. i have tried to
talk raationally to some people but all i get back is vivid tales of
self gratification.
i share your concern, someone should boot these sheep herding cultists out the back door. I'm pretty mellow but some of these
people spew such lies that it is sickening.
i hope you dont view me as being on that list, i know i may come of
a little strong.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Shamanism
December 17, 2003, 13:30:53
Hi The Seeker,

The Welcome to Members Book Recommendations & Reviews forum is set aside for people who have already read a book and want to review and/or recommend it. [:)]

What I have done is to move the topic into our Welcome to General Metaphysics forum as that may be a good place for replies on the book topic you seek. You may also want to use our search engine and type in the word 'shamanism' and 'books' for example, to see what's been posted already.

Very best,

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Good Yoga books
December 17, 2003, 11:47:44
I can't really recommend much as far as Tai Chi books go, but as for yoga "The Spiritual Science of Kriya Yoga" by Goswami Kriyananda, is my favorite book I've read on the subject.  The author seems very knowledgable and writes in an easy to understand non-americanized style.  It covers just about everything you could want to know from prerequesites to samadhi, and everything in between.

Welcome to Dreams! / Dream scenario
November 20, 2003, 15:34:03
Excellent question, Seeker!

I have spent lots of time on trying to figure out what my dreams are and how to interpret them.  It's usually harder to interpret our own dreams than it is someone else's, since we're often so close to a situation that we "can't see the forest for the trees."  But there's rarely only one "right" answer to what a dream means.

Some houses in dreams really do represent houses- a house from a past life, for example, or a house from our childhood, or a house we'd love to live in.  But if you're having trouble interpreting a dream in which a house plays an important part, it's always a good idea to start by trying out the possibility that the house in the dream is you.

You mention, the room full of junk...well, do you feel your life is cluttered?  or perhaps you feel the need to get rid of some old issues?  Emotions is a good tool, to help you interpret you dreams.  How does the room full of junk, covered up, like in storage make you feel? Do you feel the need to "uncover" these things or let them be?

I have been to a huge mansion myself a couple of times.  It has beautiful mahogany panel walls that are just covered in oil paintings of different sizes.  The ceilings are way up there!..I mean, waaaaay up there.  There is a spiral staircase as well.

The first time I found myself there, I found a secret door.  The second time, when I realized "oh, yeah..been here before", I immediately started looking for the secret door but it wasn't there anymore..[:O]

I am not sure if this represents me or is a house from a past life.  I do have the sense when I am there..that it is mine, but the verdict is still out on that one.  I will have to visit it a few more times and see how I feel about it. [:D]

Hope this helped a little and really look foward to reading more about your dreams!

Welcome to Dreams! / Arg! Lucid or OBE, not sure
November 14, 2003, 12:50:16
Doesn't R. Bruce talk about the "Alice in Wonderland" effect, or whatever it is called? Anyway, I think what you had was an OBE at first, but it quickly became a LD. It has happened to me on many occasions, in fact most of my OBEs have turned into LDs, more or less anyway. Come to think of it, the most common 'termination' of my OBEs is that I start having experiences and images and feelings that I've clearly made up and are like what you have in a LD.

Hi TheSeeker,

You may get some thoughtful responses in the Spiritual Development forum rather than Astral Chat (where the topic is likely to move off the front page quickly).

If you disagree with my moving this topic then please PM me and we'll move it back.

Welcome to Dreams! / First LD in awhile
October 28, 2003, 09:52:13
I love these dreams (lucid or not) where you are outside and see the sky and the trees, even more when it is night in the dream..! Was there any star in the sky? The moon?

When you wake up volontarily from your dream, it is not especially the "natural" moment for your body to wake up, and that's how you get sleep paralyzed, your body was still in deep sleep I guess.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / war?
June 06, 2003, 14:14:18
i dont know where the 'demonic war' idea originated but theres some good evidence that something major will happen in 2012. as to exactly what, you might as well reach your own opinion on that. maybe you don't think anything at all will happen. but there are a lot of weird things pointing to 2012 (all mayan calenders end on the same day in 2012, biblical code revealed in bestselling books points to such a date in the future, etc.)

Where are all these supposed people who are messing up forums? I've heard so many people complaining about them and yet I've only ran into a few people here who have misused their posting privileges. Maybe it's just that I filter things out a little more...You can't honestly expect everything on the Internet to be great information and everyone to be courteous and informational!

I am reading a book written about him at the moment, it's called "There is a river" by Thoman Sugrue.  It is a fantastic book!  It explains how his "Association for Research and Enlightenment" came to be today, and everything in his life from when he was a kid.  I would recommend it to anyone!

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Little Lights
March 24, 2003, 12:04:47
It must be a very common experience. It is interesting to see it described in different ways. Like with seeing auras, background, mood, and lighting seem to line up and cause the little dots to be seen. One of my teachers told me to relax and look into the sky when it is bright and there are no clouds. Not into the sun, of course. He said he also sees them when looking at the snow in winter. Neither of us knows if these things are good for anything.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / Hallucinigens
March 21, 2003, 12:38:42
We've had this conversation here a few times, that drugs could be useful or are too dangerous to use or are plain useless. My perspective was that drugs can have their uses at various stages, but because of the difficulty in getting reliable drugs I have not had a chance to try this. Naturally it would be wrong for me to ask if anyone living near me has a good source of LSD, mescaline, psilocybin, etc.
