This is a great book! I've copied and pasted Dan Millman's own words below. If you like them, you may want to consider reading the book. Also here is a link to the author's website: http://www.danmillman.com//index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

QuoteMy first really successful book was Way of the Peaceful Warrior, followed by Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior, two narratives that blended fact and fiction.  Then I began a decade of non-fiction guidebooks like No Ordinary Moments, The Life You Were Born to Live, The Laws of Spirit, etc.

I came to a point where it seemed as if I had written what I have to write, and was contemplating a return to narrative stories and an end (as far as I could tell at that point) to my non-fiction guidebooks.  But one idea, one project, wouldn't let me go.  "Write me first!" it said.  You see, I had always loved collecting quotations; it has been a hobby for 20 years.  And I had a wonderful collection of quotations and anecdotes I thought would make a good compilation.  Only the publishers weren't really that enthusiastic.  "We want something written by you, Dan, not just your quotation and anecdote collection."  But my editor at New World Library saw a potential in the project, if I could just put it together in a compelling way.

That's when I realized I also had collected quite an array of letters -- questions written to me over the years, and my responses (which our assistant said were really quite good).  That's when the idea came to me to present a number of what Socrates called "The House Rules" -- spiritual principles to help guide anyone through life.  So I ended up organizing the book around 24 of these essential house rules.

The book became my most reader-friendly book, because it could be read in bite-sized sections, about seven pages each section.  It begins with a question -- then I pose one of the house rules as an answer, and clarify what that rule is about with a short epigraph.  Then I included two questions and answers related to that central house rule -- along with some favorite quotations on that topic.   And the book was born.  It works that way, sometimes -- with an idea that hasn't quite come together -- with a sudden revelation about how it can all work.

My readers are still catching up to me, discovering that when you've read one Dan Millman book, you most definitely have not read them all.  And many who have read Living on Purpose: Straight Answers to Life's Tough Questions have said that it is their favorite for its accessible, practical wisdom and real-life examples. That's where the book came from. As to its destiny?  Only time, and readers' word of mouth, will tell...

This book is certainly worth a read. In the book: Entangled Minds - Extrasensory Experiences in a Quantum Reality the author Dean Radin reports the latest findings into the expanded reality of post-modern quantum physics. The back of the book (below) details the subject matter pretty well:

The book Zen of Stars - Futures of Planet Earth is recommended. I had not heard of Mr. St. Clair until recently, however his book provides a most fascinating read. His book is a blend of cosmology, astrology, et contact, and forecasts for the near future. He is known as a "futurist" and "visionary".

From the Project Camelot website:

QuoteAs he says: "We are psychic beings inhabiting a physical reality." St Clair is a synthesist who covers areas as diverse as astrology, astronomy, cosmology and the evolution of the human soul. Inspired by the work of Krishnamurti, he talks about the future of the planet Earth and our growing awareness that is launching us into an enlightened view of the merging of realities.

There is a good interview of him on Google that will give you an idea of what he's about:

Greetings Folks,

Taking my lead from the "Bush Sucks" thread, I wondered what members thoughts were on the gathering of G8.

If you want a quick rundown on WHY you should be interested, and how the summit affects YOU a good place to start are the links I've set out below.

While many agree "Bush Sucks", there does exist a gathering of folks who can and do make some rather important global decisions. I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on G8. Do you have an opinion?

This is a book I'd recommend, particularly if you are fascinated like me, by mediums, and those with enhanced psychic abilities. The book is called The Afterlife Experiments by Gary Schwartz, PhD.

Here's part of a review from the amazon website:

Quote
Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Schwartz (The Living Energy Universe), director of the Human Energy Systems Laboratory at the University of Arizona, proposes "working with a group of top mediums who have consistently received messages, supposedly from the dead," to investigate whether or not there is indeed life after death. Armed with consummate authority (e.g., logic, scientific research and the focus of a recent HBO documentary), the book progresses through the lab's findings. Of particular fun are the session transcripts, which include running commentary provided by lead investigators. (One sitter describes a medium's performance as "dead on.") That their data will convince readers, the authors believe, is a foregone conclusion: "[E]ven skeptics will begin to evolve as a result of these findings."

There is also a website that Dr. Schwartz has if anyone is interested:  http://www.openmindsciences.com/

If you are a new Reiki practitioner/teacher please see the notes/guidelines for sharing Reiki listed below. You may then add a post to this thread with your information.

There are also several websites where you can receive free attunements:

The first website is found by clicking Share Reiki International. This is a great group of Reiki people. Follow the links to find a master/teacher in the area of Reiki that you choose.

The next person, Stefan Kammerhofer, offers 4 kinds of Reiki attunements. His attunements are free, although you can choose to make a donation, if you wish. You can reach his website by clicking Xehupatl.

While distant attunements are effective, you may want to inquire about a "real time" distant attunement. This is done by using MSN or Yahoo messenger. While the attunement is in progress, the person attuning you is able to have you place your hands in the appropriate positions during the attunement. Just a suggestion, although not required.

If you want to add your name please do so by posting it below. As a teacher giving free attunements, we ask that you read the following which is taken from the SRI website, as it covers the same ground:

GUIDELINES:

Dear Teachers,

We thought a discussion of some things to consider, would be appropriate for those who are newly attuned and wishing to go into teaching right away.  This comes from our hearts, as we have been witness to people here in these forums, who have taken on too much too soon, and burnt themselves out.  It is our sincerest wish that all Reiki practitioners (no matter what level) can continue to share their knowledge and offer Reiki in a healthy, safe and loving manner.

First although it has been stated before, this bears repeating. As a new Reiki practitioner, there is much to learn.  This learning can only be obtained through hands on practice. The experience of working with Reiki evolves over extended periods of time. Unfortunately, it isn't just a matter of memorizing the words in a book.

However, if anyone wants to step up to the plate and attune people immediately, here are some questions to ask yourself:

Are you prepared to provide manuals, and other personalized follow up information now and possibly years down the road?

Are you willing to make a long term commitment to those you attune, to ensure you have the most up to date knowledge and skills to pass on to them?

Are you prepared to assist if they go into a healing crisis?

Do you understand that you may also be going through a cleansing period since you've been so recently attuned?

Are you aware that trying too many styles of Reiki too soon together can cause extreme physical reactions whereby you or your students could become very sick?
This is a very tiny sampling of what any Master/Teacher  may deal with on a regular basis.  If you cannot answer without a doubt what to do in these situations, it is highly recommended you continue your studies of energy work.

This is not to discourage anyone. It is to help you to be the best healer you can be, and to be aware of how much there is to Reiki, aside from the healing aspect.

Many people stay at Level I or II and become extraordinary healers.  We can all become wonderful healers if we allow ourselves the time to grow with it naturally.

Please pm me if any member or website demands payment from you. This thread is about free attunements. Anyone posting here and charging a fee will be removed from the list. Thanks.

Regards,
Nick

Some of you may know about this book. However, for those who haven't read this, I would recommend it.

This is from the Amazon website:

Editorial Reviews
Product Description:
Reiki, A Way of Life is a inspirational guidebook for all people either interested in Reiki or already on the Reiki path. Mystics and scientists are investigating the subtle energies of the Universe. These energies are multidimensional and multifacted. This book explores the relationship between thought, intentionality, subtle energies and prayer. The reader discovers how to heal and balance their lives physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

The book is just under a hundred pages, yet has some thoughtful and inspiring words. In the Introduction the author states: " We are all multidimensional, multisensory beings connected to each other at many levels. Travel with me along the winding, curvy road of mystics, saints, and sages. The mysteries that unfold are the foundation of life."

This is a book I've recently read, and wanted to recommend it as it was a great read.

This book may only be available from amazon in the UK, so if you are in the states or elsewhere, just order it from them.

Here's information from the author's website:

QuoteAfter spending more than a year researching and writing this story - I am thrilled to announce that my new book, which is the sequel to Divine Intervention will be in UK bookshops after the 15th January 2005. You will discover the most up to date evidence as to how the so called 'miracles' associated with spiritual awakening and enlightenment are possible. After witnessing several 'miracles' in India, I travelled on to Tuscon in Arizona to take part in Professor Gary Schwartz's landmark Afterlife Experiments, during which I received verification that consciousness survives physical death. Though sceptical upon my arrival- Gary Schwartz a professor of psychiatry based at the University of Arizona- has gone on record to say that from his perspective as a scientist what happened in Arizona was 'jaw dropping.'

To more fully understand the concept of Spiritual Emergency - when spiritual awakening becomes a crisis – I spoke to Stan Grof, a Professor of Psychiatry, based in San Francisco who has spent 50 years researching this growing phenomena, and I also share the stories of others who have come through their own unique crisis. As the journey gathered pace, I also found scientists who were able to explain what sets enlightened beings apart from the rest of us, and even met an enlightened being who spent twenty years learning from Masters of Light in the Himalayas.

Whether you are interested in life after death, medium-ship, enlightenment, gurus, past lives, spiritual emergency, miracles , how intention creates our reality or psychic communication – in this groundbreaking story – I offer the most authoritative evidence for the Sixth Sense and beyond – all in a language that anyone can understand. If you would like to pre-order a signed copy then please call the Nutri Centre order line on 0800 5872290. Published by Cico Books. £9-99. If you are ordering from overseas then log onto www.amazon.co.uk and they will post it to you.

Professor Gary Schwartz says of this book 'Once you have read this enthralling book, you will never be the same again.'

Dr Harry Oldfeild. BioPhysicist says ' This Book gives great insights into past and present mysteries that integrate and connect us all. This is a riveting read not only for researchers like myself but also for anyone who has ever asked the question 'Why and how am I here?'

Once again, a great book!

Welcome to Book Reviews! / Fred Alan Wolf
February 24, 2005, 15:29:44
For those interested in reading a good book on time travel, the nature of reality and the existence and role of consciousness, I'd recommend a book I've just finished reading. It is written by author Fred Alan Wolf, and is entitled Parallel Universes - The Search for Other Worlds.

In the book quantum physicist Fred Alan Wolf explores the concept of parallel universes. He is able to explain and illuminate complex theories in easy to understand words. He also covers his thoughts regarding theories in which black holes are gateways of information between universes.

He writes: "our minds are thus tuned or are tunable to multiple dimensions, multiple realities. The freely associating mind is able to pass across time barriers, sensing the future and reappraising the past. Our minds are time machines, able to sense the flow of possibility waves from both the past and the future. In my view there cannot be anything like existence without this higher form of quantum reality."

The book was a satisfying read, and I would commend it to anyone with an interest in Quantum theory.

Greetings AP forum members,

Please take some time to review our FAQ FORUM. The purpose of the forum is set forth in a "sticky" at that forum, so please read it over. We tend to get recurring questions here at the Astral Pulse, and thought something such as a FAQ forum could be useful in that regard.

The forum is still pending further additions and modifications though. As it takes shape, we hope it will be a place that particularly our newer members will read before asking many of the threshold questions, such as: "what is obe?" and the like.

Certainly, all members should endeavor to redirect people asking such fundamental questions to the new FAQ forum.

Regards,
Nick

Historically, the terms Astral Projection and OBE refer to exactly the same thing.

Nowadays, the term astral projection is sometimes solely used to refer to the notion of projecting to ``nonphysical`` astral realms, whereas the term OBE may refer either to a projection into these other realms or to the classic experience of finding yourself in ``a second body`` in what appears to be normal physical reality, but is called the "real time zone".

In practice, however, these terms are still used interchangeably.

For more information on Astral Projection it would be best to start by reading many of the online and offline resources on Astral Projection and Out of Body Experiences. See the post below for some helpful website links.

Also, remember to use the Astral Pulse search engine as well.

Welcome to the Astral FAQ! / What is Lucid Dreaming?
February 16, 2005, 13:40:52
Very often we'll have new members ask "What is Lucid Dreaming?". Here's a definition from the Lucidity Insitute:

QuoteLucid dreaming means dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming. The term was coined by Frederik van Eeden  who used the word "lucid" in the sense of mental clarity. Lucidity usually begins in the midst of a dream when the dreamer realizes that the experience is not occurring in physical reality, but is a dream. Often this realization is triggered by the dreamer noticing some impossible or unlikely occurrence in the dream, such as flying or meeting the deceased. Sometimes people become lucid without noticing any particular clue in the dream; they just suddenly realize they are in a dream. A minority of lucid dreams (according to the research of LaBerge and colleagues, about 10 percent) are the result of returning to REM (dreaming) sleep directly from an awakening with unbroken reflective consciousness.

The basic definition of lucid dreaming requires nothing more than becoming aware that you are dreaming. However, the quality of lucidity can vary greatly. When lucidity is at a high level, you are aware that everything experienced in the dream is occurring in your mind, that there is no real danger, and that you are asleep in bed and will awaken shortly. With low-level lucidity you may be aware to a certain extent that you are dreaming, perhaps enough to fly or alter what you are doing, but not enough to realize that the people are dream representations, or that you can suffer no physical damage, or that you are actually in bed.

Further information can be obtained at http://www.lucidity.com/ or by using the Astral Pulse search engine and the key words lucid dreaming.

This book is also subtitled: Evidence of Survival and Spirit Communication through the Voices and Images from Those on the Other Side. The authors, Tom and Lisa Butler, are the directors of the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena, ( http://www.aaevp.com/ ) and they have been researching EVP and ITC (Video Instrumental TransCommunication) for over fourteen years.

While members of the Astral Pulse do not need convincing that we continue to exist once we transition from our physical body, the book nevertheless is a good read. As the back cover states: "Anyone interested in communication with a departed loved one or learning more about the 'other side' will want to read this book."

In the book there are stories of a lot of people who have received messages from those in the nonphysical realms via electronic devices such as digital recorders. The authors also include a step by step guide for those who want to experience these phenomena for themselves using a simple audio recorder, video recorder, or computer.

All in all, a worthwhile, educational, and fascinating book which I'd recommend.  :)

After reading There is No Death and There Are No Dead by Tom and Lisa Butler, a book I would recommend, I did want to share an interesting website with members. The Butlers are directors of an organization called American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena which is reputed to be a serious, legitimate organization.

For members curious about investigating this aspect of Communications you can take a look at the website located here: http://www.aaevp.com/

Welcome to Astral Chat! / White Noise
January 17, 2005, 20:39:00
There is a movie currently showing here in the states called White Noise. It centers around a character played by actor Michael Keaton who utilizes digital recording devices and computers to record electronic voice phenomena (EVP), that is, voices and images of those existing in nonphysical reality. Such phenomena is nothing particularly new, however has been made more widely known recently.

The movie had expert advisor/researchers to assist them in the making of the film. These researchers have a website by the way, it is http://www.aaevp.com/ . However, in the movie, the moviemakers shift away from the more interesting research into "movieland" type situations and ending.

In conclusion, I would slightly recommend the film, perhaps as a rental. The research aspect is interesting, and it's one of those events that generally may serve to capture the general public's interest in the continuation of life after physical "passing over" to nonphysical reality.

Very best,
Nick

It's a question about this schoolhouse, called life on earth. Share if you want,  why you think you've decided to spend this lifetime here on earth.

For my part, I think its to learn some lessons, such as  patience, which I need a good deal more of.  The tests pop up every day and I don't always pass. Still, if I try, I get to thinking about what I can do better the next time.

Does anyone have any serious thoughts along the lines of your pupose here?

This gem of a book is available from The White Eagle Publishing Trust http://www.whiteaglepublishing.org

From the back cover"

"Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the great detective Sherlock Holmes, is now less well-known for his extraordinary energetic quest to reveal and promote the truth of life after death. Shortly after his own death, in 1930, and through a sequence of events which makes a fascinating tale in itself, a spirit communicator who identified himself as Sir Arthur did return, to fufil that quest.

This book gives the outcome, a remarkable series of messages, received through the medium Grace Cooke over a period of eighteen months. The messages paint a vivid picture of the afterlife, astonishing in its scope, which amounts to a complete description of the planes of consciousness through which each individual evolves and which, as Sir Arthur claims, each can equally experience in this life.

The result is an inspiring testament which offers the reader a huge amount of hope and faith in the world of spirit, as well as a deeper knowledge of his or her own potential.

Arthur Conan Doyle's Book of the Beyond tells the story which surrounds the messages, too. It is the story of the Polaire Brotherhood in pre-Second World War Paris, who received instructions from spirit that the soul of Sir Arthur would make contact; and the story of the spiritual work that was to result from the messages and continues today, the work of the White Eagle Lodge. The account is complemented by two teachings from Grace Cooke's guide White Eagle which are about the afterlife."

There is not enough I can say about the impact of this book, except to heartily recommend it. You won't be disappointed! [^]

Very best,
Nick

The reason for this particular sub-forum is because so many of the same questions are asked over and over. There is a wealth of information in old posts in just about every conceivable topic. Before you post a question such as: "How do you obe?" or "What is a lucid dream?", take a look at our search engine. From there you can type in keyword(s) and then receive a list of many past topics with a lot of good information. Read over the FAQs in this forum  , and also take a look at our Welcome to Permanent Astral Topics forum . The topics in that forum were made "permanent" for a reason. That is, there is excellent information in those threads. The advice and discussions therein contain gems of what is asked about quite often here at the AP. Therefore, they are considered to be of a  recurring value.

Similarly, you will also see  sticky topics  in many of our forums. These were made "sticky" because the AP Team feel that these threads have good information that people often ask for.

Additionally, you'll see a link at the very top of the Astral Pulse forum page that reads "FAQ". That should answer many administrative type questions about this forum. Some of the topics there include:   Log in and Registration Issues; User Preferences and Settings; Posting Issues; Private Messaging , and so on. Please read them over before posting.

With respect to so-called 'old' posts, please note that the information in them is oftentimes still very current. What is in those "old" topics and posts can be very detailed as well.

Lastly, sometimes that answer you're looking for can be found with just a little bit of searching.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Cause and Effect
November 06, 2003, 13:36:42
The following was sent my way by a friend. Advance apologies to those who have read this before.

Subject: Farmer Fleming

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while
trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a
nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in
black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself.
Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse
surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the
father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved. "I want to repay you," said the
nobleman. "You saved my son's life." "No, I can't accept payment for what I did,"
the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer.
At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.
"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.
"I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son
will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a
man we both will be proud of." And that he did.
Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated
from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known
throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of
Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was
stricken with pneumonia. What saved his life this time? Penicillin.
The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill.
His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.
Someone once said: What goes around comes around. Work like you don't need
the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching. Sing
like nobody's listening. Live like it's Heaven on Earth.

In order for the Holy Bible to be accepted as the Word of God, it MUST be accepted as Divinely inspired, thus the churches insistence - and historically severe punishments to those who have doubted it's authenticity.

Still, read metaphorically, I think the Bible, old and new testament, have a lot of value.

At this point in my life I'm spending a great deal of time at school and at school-related activities, so I don't have a lot of time to spend elsewhere. At school I really probably spend more time laughing at stupid excrement with friends than I do doing any serious work, and even then I don't take things so serious that I actually care that much when I make a mistake, just maybe more aware of what I did wrong (and my grades don't suffer; I've actually boosted some grades this year).

Ever since I've gotten into that sort of frame of mind, I've been in something like a continuous state of happiness When you're truly happy, it's pretty easy to realize, or at least for me it is. I don't have anything to worry about so I dont. I do pretty much whatever I feel like and enjoy it, though I do have respect for other people and nature, etc., and I try to get done anything that needs to be. As long as I'm enjoying life and don't have anything to put much stress on me I'm alright.
