Hi everyone! I just felt like I needed to share this, so here it is.

I watched "Life or Something Like It" with my mom yesterday night. Went to sleep. Woke up at 5am to go the bathroom. When I came back to sleep, I thought of how I hadn't hugged my mom in a long time (years), and I suddenly started crying. When I thought of the movie, and Coulda Woulda Shoulda (Celine Dion), and the feelings felt much stronger. I thought of how much I loved the people around me and all those I know. I thought of how it was important not only to love them, but to show them my love.
I was worried maybe something bad had happened (my dad works in China), but then I realized that the tears were of love and not of sorrow, which made me feel better.
Oh, and it also made me realize that a lot of the things my mom had been doing, like finding movies/events my family could do together, were to try and bring us closer together...

Sorry if the posts seems somewhat incoherent. I guess I have a lot I need to think about.

Note: I had my first serious meditation session yesterday afternoon for 15-20 minutes, maybe that was what sparked this incident? (all previous attempts were done lying in bed before I went to sleep)

Most people are not talking about excitement due to some incredible event during a dream.  The excitement generally referred to is of realizing that you're dreaming and being amazed at the feeling and clarity of the experience.  I will generally have a hard time controlling my excitement upon realizing that I'm dreaming.  I have to keep telling myself to calm down or I will come out of the lucid dream or OBE very quickly.  Of course, there are methods that can supposedly help control this, but I've not had enough experience to try those methods.

That's a good question, Athios,

In San Francisco, north of where I live, there is a California Institute of Integral Studies. I looked at their online catalog and found the following:

"Integral," a term that has been subject to a variety of interpretations through the Institute's history, has its source in the integral philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, the Indian philosopher and spiritual teacher. In his The Philosophy of Integralism (1954), Dr. Chaudhuri offered the following definition of integral studies:

From a renewed contact with the mainsprings of Indian culture, the leaders of renascent India came up with a very comprehensive outlook. They found that the distinctive values of East and West can be harmoniously blended within the framework of that outlook. We may call that the integral outlook. It has been the source of inspiration to the neo-Hindu and the neo-Vedantic movement in India. It stresses the need for a comprehensive philosophy of life as the foundation for integrated living, reconciling both material and spiritual values. It embodies a creative synthesis integrating the highest cultural values of East and West. It reconciles the economical, political, scientific, and humanistic values of the modern West with the psychological, ontological, and universal-religious values of the East."

Very best,

I have my wheel in a closed container to avoid that problem. I've tried a compass, but the magnetic force was too much.

Oh yes, forgot to mention my own experiences. [|)]

Most of time, when it happens, it just get feeling (or know) that this particular event has happened before.
Not something like it, not something I remember from memory, not something I remember from dreams (I know since I can remember my dreams when I wake up), but this exact thing.
They happen anywhere at anytime, but most of the time it includes me reading or watching something, or talking to someone.
About 60% of the time, the feeling is really strong and lasts 5-10 seconds; and ~25% of the time, the feeling is pretty weak and lasts only 2-3 seconds. Sometimes, though rarely, it's strong enough that I can actually accurately predict what is going to happen next. For example, I'd know that that guy is going to say a particular sentence...

Ah yes, and here are the statistics for occurences I got from asking my friends:
1 - twice a week      <-- my close friend, and he's not exaggerating
2 - twice a month     <-- I'm in this group
1 - 10 a year
1 - 2-3 a year
2 - Never happened before
