I've got two questions for you guys, and hopefully someone's got some advice.

A problem I run into occassionally is that directly after separation, I'll be in my astral body, able to move freely about the room, but my vision is locked in the direction I was facing before exit.  If I'm facing my closet, that's all I can look at - if I was lying down, I'm looking at the floor.  As you can imagine, this makes it rather difficult to not only enjoy my OBEs, but to get anything accomplished.  I've tried using awareness "sitting up" motions, or otherwise "turning my head" but it hasn't worked so far.  Anyone have any thoughts?

My second question is related to the above.  The last time this happened, I for some reason thought "Well maybe if I raise some energy to my head, I'll be able to move it better."  I'm not sure why I thought it would work, but regardless, while out of body, I brought some energy up to my "head," and the entire motion just hurt.  It felt like anywhere I brought the energy was on fire.

I vaguely remember the same thing happening in the past when I've tried to raise energy while in the astral.  Has anyone had similar problems?  Thanks

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Dream OBE
April 28, 2003, 10:22:13
Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum! :)

A lot of people have pulled OBE's out of dreams, including myself. In fact, most OBE's come about whilst already sleeping at first.

There is a way to purposely induce an OBE whilst dreaming: Make yourself aware that you're dreaming and focus on an element of the dream. It can be an object, a colour, etc. Keep focusing on/staring at it until the dream scenery fades away. You will find yourself in either the Real Time Zone, a lucid dream or the astral proper (I usually end up in the RT zone.)

I must also add that the first few experiences we have tend to be OBE's that seem like lucid dreams. While having the experience, we "know" it's for real and then we only question ourselves when we wake up. It's believed to be an OBE with all mental imagery, as the distortions kick in as soon as we exit. OBE's in the RT zone often have distortions of one type or another, either coming from the mind or mental energy left in the plane. However, these first few projections contain all mental imagery because the mind kicks in as soon as we exit.

As you progress, you'll eventually be able to figure out what are lucid dreams, what are OBE's and what are hybrid experiences. It's very easy to be confused at first.

Good luck,
