Welcome to Astral Chat! / Who do you pray to?
August 22, 2003, 03:54:13
I'll add my thoughts on the subject of prayer. Note that these are nothing but my opinions based on what I've learned and realized, so if you don't like them, ignore them.

Praying as a pledge to a deity I see as pointless. I mean, IMO you're just being wishful if you think some higher being cares enough about you to somehow affect the world/your life to appease your 'prayer'.

Praying in the sense of forming a strong intention can pay off however. Since everything in the universe is guided by will, from the manifestations caused in the subjective realms to the incarnations brought about in the objective realms, having a strong will towards anything can become a cause which reaps an effect.
So if I were to pray, it would merely be a strong focusing of my consciousness and energy onto a specific idea or goal.

The difference between magic, prayer, and what I described is that in one, you're relying on extraneous objects and stuff to carry out your will, in another, you're relying on a higher power to intervene and carry out your will, and in the last, you're relying on yourself to carry out your will.

Hey, I am Christian and I defend the OBE and every other experience and part of our soul (we all have spirit bodies that God created, saying that it is wrong to expereince this is saying that God is evil and wrong and I am sure you don't believe that).

Also, anything, if it takes control of your life, can become dangerous (food, drugs, tv, video games, books, negative relationships, ETC ETC) and if someone only focuses on OBE and lets every other part of their self and life go, then yes, AP is dangerous.

Furthermore, there is biblical evidence ( a lot of it) that many prophets and others have recieved revelations from OBE's and through their dreams.

Trust me, your Christian friends in their overzealousness have got you twisted my friend.

Demanding people to accept Christ is not the way to help others, Christ never did that.

Your brother,
Daniel

PS- thanks for moving this Nick.

PSS- to all other members, don't retaliate to Allanon's post, that's what he wants.  Obviously going in and judging everyone like he has is wrong, so don't play his game.

how do you know those dreams you had were actually other peoples' lives? according to the eternal now theory (in the articles section), you're living all your lives at once, as time is only here to divide up our lives and organize them, so if one of your 'past' lives was someone famous, they could be writing history you learned in school, or you could be writing history for one of your 'future' lives now, but it's all parallel and when you die they catch up with you and you gain all your memories from each life.

the only way to prove or disprove this theory is to die and see if the memories of other lives suddenly hit you and see if you become aware of them. and even then, maybe some people only have 1 life to live here in the physical, and that's all they need, for whatever reason.

the christian church used to teach reincarnation, up until 350 ad, from what i understand. then, as people realized the idea of having more than 1 life would be used in a negative way, satan and hell suddenly appeared. you won't find any threats of going to hell instead of heaven prior to 350 ad. it's like they were introduced to keep people in line.

He was more concerned with his appearance than I imagined he would be.

"Do i look fat" "is my hair too long" etc.
