Just the other night I had a false awakening (it's when you dream that you wake up and get out of bed, but in fact you're still dreaming) in which I tried to project. It's rather frustrating as I've been in a rut with these lately.

I believe that my consciousness has returned to my body and I'm going to project. Typically I can feel out my astral(energy?) body and I can rise out of my body a few feet before my energy runs out and I sink back to my body. At this time I don't have enough energy to even see, but I'll try to project yet! ;)  This results in me giving up then "returning" to my body. I'll "wake up" then realize I'm still dreaming then truly wake up.

Sorry if that is all confusing, but if anyone has had a false awakening you would know what I'm talking about. So, does anyone have any tips on turning a false awakening into a positive? ..specifically for OBE? Any advice?

Hi everyone,
Two nights ago my friend Brad took his own life by crashing into a bridge. He was the most amazing guy I've ever met - so full of vitality and life. He was and still is the inspiration on our cross country team even though he played football. He just had that strong of a work ethic coupled with the most humble demeanor.

I'm really going to miss him and I'd just like to ask you to help pray for him with me. Thanks

themadness...
What is it your trying to do?  It sounds like your in a trance state or in between and could go either way depending on what you do when you first wake up.  Do you move at all?  If you move then you very well can lose trying to get back out.

Then maybe your awareness is not quite aware enough to project?  Or the combination of your physical body being awake to much?  Did I confuse you?

This is a good topic because I know we are all interconnected yet life seems to always want to enable the feeling of separateness. There are times when I feel this sense of oneness with all creation, and it is a good feeling. It can happen during meditation, astral work, and the like. However, sometimes it washes over me when I'm driving a car, or looking at the sky. It can just happen for no apparent reason as well.

In any event, the important work is to remind myself that the sense of separateness is the feeling I need to move away from.

hhmmm... i can't really say when i first vividly saw color, because i've always dreamed in color, and so i never thought much about it... if i had some particularly colorful dreams, they never really struck me much.  but i usually make note of particularly vivid dreams that have some impact on me, and one where color definitely had a big part was where i was flying through the sky during a sunrise... it was so real, the various colors of the sky, and the white fluffy clouds, the fresh morning air rushing against me, and i was so overwhelmed by the beauty of it all, i started crying (in the dream).  then i landed on the roof of a car in a parking lot, where people were parking and getting out of their cars to go to work in some large building.  anyway, it was quite amazing, and i thought maybe it was on OBE, but maybe it was just a really vivid dream... i really dunno.

I  THINK.......

consiousness  is  god.

god  is  the universal  energy  that makes all life possible.

god is  not  a being  who  identifies  itself  as  "the  creator"

consiousness/god  are the blueprints  for  all  dimensions of  reality.

behind  everything ever  in  the  entire  sphere of existence,  there is  the fundamental consiousness/energy/life essence.

if  god  were a  being  who  could be identified AS  god...  then  god  himself  would be  able  to  question the  origin  of  his  own consiousness.

if  this were the case,  the origin  of  gods own  existence would be a mistery   to him,  hence there would be something greater than  god.

..and  this  isnt possible.

im  not  sure  about  the higher and lower states of consiousness...  so  the most logical  thing  to  do  would be  to  discover  ways  to highten our  awareness and  discover  higher  frequencies  of  reality..  everything  this  website  looks into.

at the moment,  anyone  who doesnt  strive to  grow intelectually, spiritually and emotionally  isnt  "ready"  to  ask  these kind of  questions..

im  sure once we  attain a  heightend state  of  awareness  we  would  be  more  confident  in  answering  this  kind of question..  until eventually  we  wont need to ask.

i  beleive  all living  beings  in  existence will eventually  know  this,  and  when  they  do  "they"  wil become "one"   and  this "one"  will  come  to realise that  it  is  all  that has, and  ever will exist...  it  will realise  it is  existence/god.

Not sure on energy patterns around death, as have yet to witness it.

I'd say if your looking for where energy comes from, checking out the atom isn't exactly the best place to start.  matter is a form of energy, but not the sorce of it. Eg:

light=energy
sound=energy
matter=energy
electricty=energy
ki=energy
soul=energy
soul not= matter

Um, to try to find where it comes from would be kinda hard, like trying to figure out where the planet earth comes from?  It's been here for quite some time, so the source of it is quite old.  I don't think you even see the creation of energy at this point in the universe, mainly the change from one form to the next.  Probably would have to travel (assuming one could) back to the beginning of everything to find the sorce of energy.

If you wanna find where it is now, I'd look into the "aura cameras" and stuff they got out now.  I'm pretty sure they only read the bodies electromagnetic field and give a close estimation to aura, but I think the energy 'frequency' that makes up the soul is right above the electromagnetic field frequincy.  Aura sensing and thouse pictures usually give a slightly similar result.

Hi,
I think you are referring to the Harmonic Grid which has been most extensively researched by Bruce Cathie. He has a website but I'm sorry I can't find it at the moment. He has written several books on the subject which should be fairly easy to find including 'The Harmonic Conquest of Space'.

The prana in pranayama starts with the breath, but the point is actually to control the energy. Breathing is often combined with the postures. Some teachers go so far as to say that when the breath is not united with the asanas, just doing the postures is useless. You can adjust your postures according to what increases the flow of energy through your body.

I don't know what I can offer. I'm not much advanced in energy work, but I believe good intent can help. I've been reading other threads and I'm going to start sending loving energy when I meditate to all of you.

What else do you need to know about Monica? She was 17, lived in northwest Iowa, United States, an older sister.... .....

The brain is very active during sleep. The chakras are, too. I have heard of advanced meditators not needing as much sleep as everyone else, and of Zen (Cha'an) practitioners staying awake for weeks at a time.

Other ideas would be doing yoga, chi gong or some kind of martial art. Do you do any kind of meditation?

In Vajrayana Buddhism there is a practice called Deity Yoga. A Buddha or Bodhisattva is chosen, usually by your teacher. An image of this Buddha or Bodhisattva is used as an object for meditation. The Deity is seen as both a separate external being and at the same time you see yourself as having become the Deity. The Deity is also seem as expressing a quality of enlightenment such as compassion, wisdom, or power. I have a theory that it is possible to have a Buddhist attitude and practice a religion such as Catholicism. Vajrayana is all about transformation. It is the attitude which matters, and not the appearance. Catholicism has many saints, especially the Virgin Mary, Mother of God. Dzogchen is an even higher form of Buddhism than the Vajrayana. It is so far above the usual Vajrayana that it does not limit itself to any branch of Buddhism or even to any particular religion. It just happens to have been protected by the two main religions of Tibet, Buddhism and Bön. In Dzogchen, you can become a Buddha by cultivating continuous contemplation. Presence. Mindfulness. Circumstances arise and pass but you do not let them push you off balance. This is not accomplished through resistance but by a mindful sort of presence. There is nothing against Dzogchen in Catholicism.

My family was raised Catholic. I chose Buddhism and was not confirmed. It did not go over well. It took over ten years for my parents to admit that I was no longer going to be Catholic and never had been. It was not easy and I gained nothing by fighting them. Buddhism has no God to join and no Satan to resist (unless you count Mara), but in many ways there are a lot of common points between the two religions. By studying one you can gain a better appreciation of the other. Becoming confirmed won't be a problem later if you choose to take the refuge vows, to formally become a Buddhist. It would be an act of generosity to accept confirmation as a Catholic. You can become Buddhist later much more easily than you can go back and get confirmed. I am sorry to have to say that I chose wrong and regret it. I am and have been Buddhist, of course, but I mean that I would have been a better Buddhist had I gotten confirmed.
