Welcome to Dreams! / online dream journal for free
November 23, 2004, 16:12:47
Hi folks,

There is a good link to an online dream journal site where you can create for free your own dream journal. There are also discussions, interpretations, keywords, etc... It is very convenient to record your dreams online, to keep track of your dream and even to find what are your common symbols, keywords... in your dreams.

The address is :

http://www.dreamjournal.net/dj/index.cfm

A dream journal is a good start to help remember you dreams, and eventually get to have more lucid dreaming and who knows even AP, OBE.

Ciao,
Shaman the dreamer

It won't be a coincidence?  That's because it's a war and such things are anticipated, not prophesied.  The alert level is high because it could easily happen.  Therefor I think that at the level Jerusalem is at now, combined with your dream, if a terrorist attack did happen it would absolutely be coincidental.

You might be talking about Yellowstone National Park.  The park has been known to be a supervolcano for sometime now and I when I visited I noticed very strange things.  The ground has risen and moved the lake which killed off the trees there.  The roads were starting to crack even though they aren't that old and many places were blocked off because of piping being eaten away by the acid gas.  The one that interested me the most was the sink hole nexted to the series of mud holes.  It's pipe was severely damaged and steam was rising out of it and the funny thing was it was in the parking lot.

I think Yellowstone has an eruption cycle of about 100,000 years.  Anyways, it is long over due and when it does burst it will take out the whole west and midwest of the US.  Even people in Arizona (like myself) will be visited by massive dust waves and buried alive.

The last major supervolcano eruption occured 17,000 years ago on an island near Indonesia I believe and it nearly wiped out the worlds population due to temperature changes in the atmosphere killing off crops and such.  Anyways Yellowstone is much bigger than that one but I hope it doesn't go off soon.

Waw! 10 days and only 6 persons have looked up at that message. Sure none knows Daniel Goleman or has read his book. Anyhow, for the ones who might be interested I'll just elaborate a little bit as to what can be found in that book.

First of all there is a detailed explanation about the different phases of meditation in general, viewed from a psychologist (Dr. D. Goleman) but also from the point of view of someone who practiced meditation and travelled in Asia for a long period (Again D. Goleman).

The basic steps given in that book are actually enough to follow for someone interested to start a good practice of meditation, though it is not enough if one wants go further than that.

There is a long debate about all the different meditation practices in different religions, such as either to reach the "oneness", "no-thing-ness", "God", "mindfulness", etc...using actually different techniques of concentration: breathing, object of meditation, mentra, prayer,... in short: the different ways to follow in different religions/societies, and the different level of transe reached.
Budhism, Induism, Kabbalah (Judaism), Suffism (Muslim), ... are all overviewed. They are all put at the same level.

The main point is that in order to meditate one has to be able to distant him/herself from many things in order to avoid distraction. And on the other side as one reach a higher and higher level of meditation, one becomes less selfish and lose the sens of "ego-centrism" (or just his/her ego). This create an attitude of a person who is ready to help others, understand others, a person who is moderate, modest and first care for others before than caring for him/herself. It is  seen in many relitions as the "righteous", "holy", "wise",... the practice of meditation ultimately is believed  to help reach a state where one can see into the future (premonitions, prophecies, etc.. - like the prophets in the Bible), one can heal (like the shaman, the medecine man, ...), can travel in the astral (again the Shaman, but also Daniel in his lucid dreams, etc..). But also the most advanced meditators are able to enter a deep transe, lower their metabolism, their haert beat very low and their breathing too. Their body temperature drops accordingly and the meditator could in theory stay in that transe for as long as he wishes (though usually not more than a week). For a lay person the meditator looks like he is dead as the heart beat and breathing become barely noticable.

In the (main) second part of the book he addresses the point of view of the psychologist and he sees the relation between psychological facts and the practice of meditation. He sees meditation as a tool for (psychologists) therapists to help patients where the conventional psychological therapeutic techniques have failed. He encourages everyone to practice meditation to relieve stress, improve the quality of life and basically to be able to live the present in full awareness (full absorption).

Simply a book to read for all those interested in meditation in general.

I met an angel once, but like I said in the other topic the encounter was rather personal.

I can talk about the angel though.  He wore a standard angel costume, wings and white robe.  He had a sort of halo, but it was very subdued, hardly worth noticing, it was more of a distortion of light around his head.  He was a very plain and regular late middle aged Tom Bosley-ish looking character.

He took me on a short journey.  He never spoke or smiled or showed any expression for that matter, his face was kept carefully neutral through the whole thing.  He showed me what he came to show me, and then he flew back up from where he came.

Concerning dreams, lucid dreams, OBE/AP here is what we find in the book of radiancd (sefer ha zohar), under Joseph's Dream topic. I am including only the text that is relevant and I am adding (in parenthesis (), or [] ) some explanations. the dots ... means that I have omitted text which was either not relevant or was too technical or was for people who knows already more about Kaballah and Aramean (Hebrew).

beginning of citation:

...

(The level of dreams)
It is the 6th level from the level of prophecy,
the level of (angel) Gabriel, appointed over dreams.
(Angel Gabriel is the one who appeared in the dreams of
Daniel 8:16; 9:22; he interprets dreams and he is the Prince
of dreams)
As it has been said.

Come and see:
(this expression is often used in the Zohar)
Every proper dream comes from this level;
(there are 10 levels on which Kaballah/Zohar is based,
from the crown/top/God down to the level that engenders
the life "below"; also known as the tree of life)
so you cannot have a dream without false imaginings intermingling,
as we have established.
Therefore parts are true and parts are false.
(exactly like in AP/OBE, where things appear where they should not)
You cannot have a dream that does not reflect both this side and that (side).

...

Because a dream includes illusion and truth,
and the word rules over all.
So a dream needs a good interpretation.

...

For when a person sleeps in his bed,
his soul leaves him and soars up above,
(obviously AP/OBE but unconsciously)
each one on its own path.
(again exactly as in AP, where one can access different
realities while APing)
She (the soul is feminine in the text) ascends in this way,
as has been said.
What is written!
"In a dream, a vision of the night,
when people are lying in their beds asleep,
the soul leaves them,
as it is written:
as they sleep upon their bed, He (God) uncovers human ears".
(in the book of Job, God speaks to everyone during our sleep)
Then the Blessed Holy One reveals to the soul,
through that level presiding over dreams,
(a higher level [of energy?]),
things that are destined to come about in the world
(visions of the future, premonitions)
or things corresponding to the mind's reflections
(answers to our very own self problems)
so that the dreamer will respond to the warning.
(here the voice of our unconscious is identified with
the voice of God, maybe our collective subconscious)

For nothing is revealed
while a person is still under the spell of the body,
(need to be in deep transe as you see!)
as we have said.
Rather, an angel (Gabriel?) tells the soul,
and the soul, the person,
and the dream is from beyond (from the AP world),
when souls leave bodies (OBE) and ascend (to a higher level?),
each on its own path.

There are levels upon levels within the mystery of a dream,
(different levels of energy in the astral???)
all within the mistery of wisdom.
(meditation?)
Now come and see:
dream is one level,
vision is one level,
prophecy is one level.
All are levels within levels,
one above the other.

....

end of citation.

Here it seems that dreams are at that level that they need to be interpreted and that they can contain also "things from the mind of the dreamer"; visions and prophecies are more difficult to distinguish from each other. Visions are things that can happen in the future, but are most probably simple individual images; while prophecies are long, made of many pictures and involve also the presence of angels (Gabriel), however the distinction is not clear:

"If there is a prophet among you,
I, YHVH, make Myself known to him in a vision,
I speak with him in a dream" (Numbers 12:6)

That's it for today. I will address dreams/visions/prophecies in the next posting, when I'll have more time to post.

Feel free to comment or ask anything.

Gilgul nefashot - the "rolling over" of the souls, or reincarnation. Thanks Beth for your insight. I am a bit late to reply, I know.

It is believe that some people who suffer a lot on this planet are in their last "gilgul" (incarnation) and that it is for them a platform to spring to a higher plane. It is said in the Zohar "le kol am israel makom be olam ha bah", which means that all the poeple of Israel (there might be different ways to interpret who these are of course) have a place in the "world to come", which hints that "am Israel" has a place already waiting them in the other world. Does that mean that they are in their last incarnation? Or that there is something special waiting for them there? Not sure. Some other sources, such as in the book of T. Rampa, have speculated that the jews are here on earth like some people at school who stay in the same grade for 2 years, in that sens that on one side they seems to know more when compared to the people in the same class, but on the other side they have actually failed in the first place. One way or another, some want to believe that not all the souls are the same, or are not at the same level of learning. For sure everyone has been given a different task on this planet.

It looks as if the first part of my dream with the collapse of the bricks and wood building is more like a vision of the earthquake that just hit California several hours after I posted the dream.

Now, the rest of the dream (with the more modern building) might also be related to earthquake rather than to an attack. The vision is clear it is devastation, but the source of it is not.

I am attaching a picture of the collapse of a structure in that small locality in California where the earthquake struck. It is indeed very similar in appearance to that first vision in the dream.

It took 4 months for that dream to appear to be a premonition..., so well that I almost forgot about it (Aug.09).

I had a NDE, but it was intentional. I ate amanita muscaria mushrooms. I had several conscious body exits, and went to a place where there appeared to be was no time or very distorted time.

Hi,

During this experience I didn't take any drug..

Well, I saw one of this dark entities about 10 years ago, I were sleeping in my home, the hour 2:00 am, In that moment during the dream (maybe OBE) I feel like someone was watching me and I start to hear strange noises very close to my physical body, noises that don't mean any word but I get annoying and desperate to the point I wake up..

My brother was sleeping in other bed in the room, my first idea was that my brother was trying to wake me up, so after I wake up I try to strike "my brother" but for my surprise my arm cross to the middle of the body of that "entity", I saw what I think it was a kid for the size, after the strike the entity runs to my closet crossing the door without open it and I followed it until it disapears inside..

The entity doesn't have a face, it was a silhouette of a human body with the color of the space without stars (dark black color, you only see black and nothing more), the entity can emit noisy sounds that I can't understand, sounds like a thousands of bees in your head..

Best regards

It is normal to get mad at times... but if you got mad at someone, it is also normal to come and apologize for being mad, like when you get mad at your child because of something terribly wrong the child did and could not control yourself (you get mad but you dont hit anyone, understand..?) then it is also completely normal to come to the child and hug the child and apologize for being mad. So if someone looses her/his temper for a short while, that's ok, but it is even better if that someone apologizes (it might be better maybe not to get mad, sure, but here we are talking about someone who alread got mad). And once you apologize, it would be nice if the person you apologize to would fogive you. All this are signs of some kind of wisdom and modesty. Not that I am the best example, when I get grumpy I turn big and all green (wait and you'll see what happens to my avatar...). at times it is OK to take your "grumpiness" out, cause if you keep that inside it might hurt you as well. But once all is over, it would be good to be again good friends and take that not too seriously. Now I don't know who and what happened, I am just telling you what I think in general about "anger management". And don't take example from the old testement and new testement, because there there are examples not to follow. Now, when I say mad, I do not mean that one yells like a monster, destroy things like a hulk and behave like a monkey, that would be a bit goint to far. You can get mad, but still be in control of your anger. Losing control of that is the wrong step. So you don't need to have total control of emotions, but you need to have the 'final' control of emotions. You can let the steam a little out, but don't let the engine explode, you can get mad but with some controle over it, some "guidance",... it is quite a lot of energy that we are talking about, so if it cannot be stopped it has to be "channelled" the right way (for example do 1 hour of kickboxing at the club to relax, break your guitar, yelled to the skies,... - but do not do that in front of the person who angers you and do not do that TO the person who angers you, etc...).

Oh, and by the way, I noticed that if you have strong emotional thoughts about someone who is at the same time sleeping, you can induce that person to dream about your emotions toward his/her. So be careful, you can cause nightmares without knowing it.

Hi Shaman....

Good post.  I think I agree with most of what you're saying, but I would like to comment on it some more.

Many people ask themselves, "Just what exactly are dreams?"

To me, dreams are nothing more than conscious memories of an unconscious experience.

Lucid dreams are conscious memories of an experience where you know that you're dreaming.  That is, you know that this isn't "real" or "real life" as you know it.

OBE's are conscious memories of a conscious experience where you know that you're awake, and that you're body (shell) is left behind somewhere...on a bed, on a couch, etc.

Now, in all three cases, since we possess a certain varying degree of consciousness, we percieve things differently.  Since all things are made up of energy, we decipher what that energy is and assign a shape or form to it.

So complimenting your theory, when OBE, if you see someone who says something that doesn't seem to make sense, or you see an event which you don't quite understand, you may not want to take that literally, but instead, look for the deeper meaning.

Now, that's not to say that OBE's are not real, just like dreams are not real.  OBE's and dreams are equal in terms of their reality.  The only difference between the two is the amount of conscious awareness is present AT THE TIME OF THE EXPERIENCE.

You see, you only remember dreams AFTER you wake up.  Therefore, you're already filtering the experience through your brain (and through your sleepy mentality), and often times, your dream memories get really fuddled up.

When you're OBE/AP, you experience things AS THEY HAPPEN, and you process the thoughts on the spot.  This makes things a lot more 'real' than dreams.

However, back to your point (sorry for rambling), I don't think we need to take all things in an OBE as symbolism, just as we shouldn't take all things in a dream as symbolism.  But, there are some things (namely when you see or hear things you don't understand) that I think you should look for other symbolic meanings before taking them literally.

Jung asserted that in addition to our individual "unconscious", there is a collective "unconscious" which I would describe as the pool of humanity's remembered experience and thought.  Through various means, such as dreams we can catch glimpses into our unconscious and I tend to think that via our innate spirituality we all tap into the collective unconscious also - especially during altered states of consciousness such as trance, OBEs, dreams, etc.

So yes, I tend to think that dreams and OBEs are just as likely constructions that our unconscious builds for us in order to nudge us in certain directions in our lives.  The building blocks of these messages, can originate either in our personal or cultural unconscious or even from the collective unconscious of all humanity.

Because we are ego driven, we are likely, unfortunately in my view to see most of these experiences as being objectively "real" - i.e. real for all people rather than subjectively meant for us personally to chew on, per se.

That's not to say that we are not in touch with "real" entities outside of us, or that we can not telepathically tap into others' minds or other dimensions - it's just that, in my opinion, we tend to interpret the messages within that experience as something that we must shout to the world as objectively true and relevent to everyone - when I suspect most transcendent and mystical experiences hold spiritual value mainly for that person who experienced them.

Taken in this context, I suspect the astral planes are in some way a manefestation of the collective unconscious, - essentially a vast gathering of knowledge and experience containing many different versions of the "truth".  So when someone says that they were abducted by aliens and told all kinds of secrety knowledge about the origins and future of mankind, - I would suggest that their experience was real but that the resulting information is not objectively real.

It's quite funny... I am the only one to read my own message ... nobody read it and sure nobody answered it...

Well I found out by myself that to see the blue bar on the upper left of my windown with the feartures that allow me to edit and change my profile I need to use an older version of netscape. With netscape 3 and 4 it works. And so it was with netscape 5. But we also have the latest version Netscape 7 and with it I cannot see the blue bar... So if you experience the same problem, you will know that it has to do with the browser you use....

It seems that if someone has really a serious problem to report or a bug, there will be none to answer....

Shaman,

Hey there!

quote:
Clearly there were originally two texts that were later on put together.
Not necessarily...
quote:
I am asking how the jewish scholars explain the occurence of each story as two stories. What explanation is there behind having everything repeated twice, once with E (lohim) and once with Y(hwh) - taking care to notice that the stories are not always consistent with each other
Jewish midrash offers several different speculations as to "why" this is the case.  One is that two different things are being created. In Jewish tradition, however, all speculations are valid.  Why do YOU think this is the case?  That may be perhaps the best place to start...[:)]  Let me know what you come up with!

Peace,
Beth

First, I'd like to start by saying I've only been working with dreams for about a year now. So I'm very new to this. However, I've done a lot of reading on different aspects of dreaming (shamanistic, lucid, astral, spiritual, etc). So what I post below is not intended to be authoritative in any manner, rather my own understanding thus far in this area.

I do want to throw out a suggestion regarding symbol interpretation. From everything that I've read and have personally experienced, symbology varies person to person. And some of the symbology you reference (loosing teeth and the number 4) seems to be only associated to death or number of days, respectively. My sense, however, is that this interpretation will not be the same for everyone.

I've never dreamt of raw meat. However, the number 4 has appeared a number of times in dreams. I have also dreamt of loosing a tooth only once, though it is apparently a very common dream theme. And I have had a number of dreams of corpses. Luckily, I haven't had any family deaths or terrorist attacks that can be attributed to those dreams. But, thats not to say that the interpretations you provide, based on your own experiences, are not correct. As I've stated above, I think many of these symbols can be very subjective and should be evaluated based on the persons feelings about the symbols within the dream.

I guess my only comments here are:

1) go with your feeling, intuition, reaction within the dream and focus on those feelings as an indicator for what the dream meant;
2) my only prophetic dreams were somewhat 'bland' regarding symbology because the dreams showed the future events exactly as they appeared several days later. There was no symbology to interpret.

So I guess I really didn't contribute too much regarding symbology. Sorry!
