Has anyone ever been beyond the astral plane? Perhaps into the mental plane or even the adi plane? If so, what is it like?

Your body heating up could be related to anxiety.  I have found that anxiety and/or adrenaline can cause this.  If you relax, you may find that this goes away.  However, sometimes this heat could just be part of your particular experience.  It's different for everybody.

I'm not sure you fully understand the mind split concept.  Remember, with mind split there is two of you.  You are conscious in two places at once.  So there is no need to take control of your astral double since you are already in control.  (But your physical may never know this)  However, you can force a synchronization of both consciousness using Astral Feedback as a method, but be careful.

To avoid missing an "exit", or a better way to put it is, to avoid shadow memory loss.. you need to keep your first projections very short.  30-60 seconds and tell yourself that you will remember everything when you wake up.  The reason you want to keep your first projections short is because you can remember 30 seconds of something a lot easier than an hour worth.. and your physical consciousness will still be in Focus 10.  This will allow a better memory download.

As time progresses, you will be able to project for longer periods of time and get better at storing memories.  But the best way of dealing with your problems (we all have them at first) is by keeping things short and simple.

Use your mental hands.  Don't try to picture the rope, just imagine the feeling of climbing it.  I get better results by imagining that my body is really heavy so that it's a struggle to pull myself up, because I think it focuses attention more.

Also be aware that ROPE, whilst an extremely succesful method, won't necessarily work for you.  The ultimate aim is simply to focus your awareness outside your physical body.  Try the tactile imaging exercises mentioned in the OBE treatise too, like the one that involves placing yourself against the ceiling.

AP doesn't just happen overnight.  Keep at it, don't give up, and stay positive! [:)]

Different things work for different people. I personally mostly use the triangle method, which you can find in the Permanent Astral Topics forum at the top of the page. Keep in mind i havent' actually had a successful exit yet, but i've only been trying for about a month all up and i've come very close with the triangle method a lot.
The only thing i can say is keep trying. Experiment with different things. Keep a journal if you aren't already and see what you might be able to improve on after each entry.

They are one in the same.  All the areas of NEW energy ways are the same areas that the chakra take place.  
I remember when I first started NEW.  I was skeptical to say the least, but I could see on the FIRST day the things were happening.  NEW is not just to get you to open your energy channels, it really allows you to see how powerful the mind is.  It's not astral projection, but much easier by all means.  However, when you discover that by simply thinking it you are able to feel the sensations described, and also stop them at will, that the mind is truly more capable then you thought.  It's more then just a means to prepare the body for AP, but also shows you that the mind can do anything you yourself will it to.  Stick with it, and you will see what I mean.
