I actually prefer a good pair of polarized sunglasses.  I think the optic center in the brain can get overloaded. Kind of like trying to have a conversation in a noisey bar, the Aura gets lost int the overload of the visual center.  I do my best work in dim lighting.

You are not crazy, I have had similiar experiences. Personally, I wouldn't call them OBEs. IMO they're a sort of false awakenings. That's just my opinion of course.

Sounds like you have one dreamsign you can react to on cue and turn into a normal dream.  Why not just try and expand your ways of becoming lucid by reality testing if you want other ways to become lucid?  Such as testing your watch or trying to make something float.  Do it throughout the day and pretty soon you'll do a test in a normal dream and become lucid.

Or you could also try the WILD method and go directly from consciousness to lucid dream (use interrupted sleep for that though).  That's also fun.

Good on you mate! [:)] Scary dreams usually are best for me too, to start lucid at least, I havent been sucsesful at OBE's yet, except I had a little epsiode yesterday...there was rolling out...and blindness, big ordeal (lol). NEWAY!...I always love to hear that someone has had their first concious OBE, it gives me hope! I'll cross my fingers and toes for you so that you can be sucsesful at more conscious obes!
Luv!

Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong to me.

hahaha, good job! I especially like the naked part [xx(]
I also had a really bad problem with pain in my left hand when I was trying to project, I havent really been able to solve that problem, so I've been working on other areas.

The heavy energy sensations you described are part of the process and you must learn to ignore them.  Just concentrate on leaving your body, and completely block out all rapid-eye-movement (REM) and or muscle spams, twitchs, etc.  The more you project, the lesser these symtoms will be.  From what I've read, the reason they're so heavily felt is due to closed/blocked energy passage-ways in your etheric body.  These must opened up in order for your energy centers (chakras) to pump out enough energy for a projectable double.  This is why it is wise to perform energy raising techniques prior to projection attempts.  As it is especially helpful for novices.

As far as the salivation goes, I really can't help you there.  Perhaps laying on your back with your head turned towards the side will help.

Hi Omnigod0101,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse! [:)] You will most likely get answers from both sides of the fence on the drug issue. Personally, I don't think mixing drugs and spirituality equals spiritual growth. However, everyone has an opinion on this as I stated.

This discussion might be better suited to our "Spiritual Development" forum rather than OBE discussions so I've moved it there. If you disagree, please pm me and we'll work something out.

Very best,

Hi Jim!

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed reading about your experience. The first thing that comes to mind is the importance of bringing your chi/energy down to your lower Tan Tien (center/chakra behind and a bit below the navel, inside your body) and storing it there.. I don't know if that is already apart of NEW as I am just at the beginning of the book, but that is key as well as massaging your head after any energy practise to release stagnant/excessive chi that may be trapped there and causing harm. So I'd definitely try that and see if that resolved the problem. Hope that helps.

Before learning about OBEs, I was into lucid dreamings and just curious to find out what was going on when you fall asleep...  I was practicing relaxation at the same time.  Then, I heard the "mind awake body asleep" thing, so I just tried that: to let my body fall asleep while keeping my mind busy.  Luckily, I did not know any of the steps of the OBE process before trying it and was happy to find out that my experience matched others descriptions...

First let me say I'm no expert, having just started attempting AP a few months ago (6-8 OBEs in last 3 months or so).  However it sounds like you were very close to getting out.

I've never had as shocking of astral sounds and sensations as you've had so I can only tell you what the books say - ignore them and calmly work on your exit techniques, whether it be "rolling out", sitting up, floating up, or whatever.  I know that's easier said than done, - yesterday while reading Astral Dynamics one passage said something like "...you may experience clammy hands pulling on you and voices that sound evil or demonic and visions of monstrous faces...but just ignore them" - yeah, right!

But anyway, it sounds like you were on the verge - keep going.[:)]
