Welcome to Metaphysics! / Seeing a 'dusty wind'
January 06, 2007, 00:49:57
Hello,
While relaxing outside, I sometimes see this haze go over my vision, like dust travelling across my field of view. It is not noticed by others around me, so I will assume that has something to do with my eyes. I am wondering if anyone else recognizes this.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Second OBE
September 27, 2005, 16:19:08
Hullo again, just figured I'd let you know about this. I had an episode of sleep paralysis just a while back, first one in about a month. I had my eyes open and was seeing flashing white images of what was around me while I was laying on my side, facing the wall. It was going between what I would normally see in the dim room (the wall, bit of the window, and blankets) and a white view of the same.

I watched this for a bit, probably less than ten seconds, and decided to try to sink out to see if it was any easier than rolling. I saw a line of black in my view, may have been the blankets; I have no way of telling, and promptly found myself facing the headboard and jammed in between my bed and the wall, with my back to the wall. In reality, the bed is right up against it, so I may have been half in the wall and half in the bed, can't say though, it was confusing at the time.

After this happened, I woke up, knew that I had a thing of SP, and nearly forgot about having the OBE. Like I said, it was very confusing at the time and muddled. I'm glad that I remembered about it though.

Has anyone else had the slowly flashing view like that before?

Hullo, thought I'd tell you guys about this. Bit of backstory first, I have sleep paralysis and have tried to roll out on maybe 3 other occassions while in a light stage of paralysis. I have also attempted to have a conscious obe a few times while fully awake, but messed them up by drawing my attention to them and have them just stop.

Enough of that, on with the story. I had an episode of SP a few nights ago, while still confused/disorientated (like in the few seconds while reaching for the snooze button). Course, I knew that I was having SP, but I kept dropping quickly into a dream, then out, then starting the dream again. The quick (5 second) dream got shorter while I tried to pop myself out of the loop, until I managed to do just that.

So now I'm back awake, paralyized still. I later realize that part of the initial confusion was caused by not being sure of what I was looking at. I had been seeing the computer and other lights on my desk, facing it. The thing is that my desk is at the head of my bed and the top of it wouldn't be visible from that low angle even if I had been looking towards it somehow. That's inconsequencial though, I think it was only during the first part of the paralysis when I had this view, before I had the looping dream and broke out of it finally. Course, now as I type this, it seems like it was OBE at that point too... hmm.

After I broke out of the looping dream, I decided to try to roll out. I wasn't confused anymore, and I was looking to my right side towards the edge of my bed. The first time didn't work, so I tried it again right away (I'm impatient and know that the paralysis only usually gives a very small timeframe on which to experiment before it stops). This second time, I rolled and hit the floor, low bed so it didn't hurt or anything, pretty sure I heard noises as well from the blankets. I was staring on floor level.

So I'm laying on the floor, thinking that I had just rolled out of my bed for real and hit the floor... but no, I realized I was back on my bed, still looking over to the right. I tried again, hit the floor again, and found myself promptly returned to the bed. At this point I realized, very faintly (hard to think while rest of the body is asleep), that I had OBE'd.

I kept trying and succeeding in rolling out, in total probably a few more than 7. Only got as far as the floor, just kind of laying there for a very short time before I could reroll out. I could see the floor dimly, which is odd because the lights were off and the room was much dimmer when I had tried to look at it afterwards.

After a time, I tried moving my hand and it was stuck tightly in paralysis, very strong stuff (which means my body was in deep still, must mean that it takes a longer time for it to wear off too). Got my fingers touching and broke out all at once I think. I'm sure it would have lasted longer, had I not purposefully broken out.

So, one spontaneous OBE and a bunch of ones on purpose. I'm quite happy I had learnt the roll out technique. It's easier to use SP as a starting point rather than try to induce the state consciously.

<edit>
Figure I'd add this in, I forgot about it. I tried the silver rope pulling out technique quickly during this whole thing to see if it would work better, but couldn't get it to work. Next time, I'll try floating up, always thought that'd be the neatest thing to do, cause I'd already be floating once I got out and wouldn't need to attempt it after exit.

Hullo, I've tried blanking my mind while going to sleep and was wondering if this is either related to it or not. After blanking my mind, my heart will race for a short time, and sometime after that I'm either asleep or not aware of anything. I'll suddenly snap awake/aware, and suck in my breath sharply. The first time that I tried this and snapped awake (my eyes are still closed), I had a controllable humming and sensation in my head which I was making last as long as I could until it stopped. I remember seeing the room as almost outlines. After I'd snap awake I'd go to sleep normally.

These next things were all within the last 30 days, I believe.

Before I started clearing my mind before sleeping, I was dreaming and managed to purposefully 'look' back into the room. All I saw was grey. I went back into the dream, told the person there that we were indeed late for work because it was daytime (and the alarm hadn't woken me up). Then I woke up, the alarm hadn't gone off, and I would have been late for school if I had woken up 15 minutes later.

Another dream similar to this was when I was sleeping during the afternoon with the television on for about 1/2 an hour. I don't remember the details of the dream, but I had 'looked' back again, into my room. The television was on and was rather bright, no lights were on so the room was dark, and it was night outside. I woke up, the lights had been off as normal, the television was (of course) still on, but the difference in what I had seen from the dream was apparent, because there was still some light in the sky and duskish.

Had another of these after I had done the clearing the mind thing before I gave up and went to sleep. I'm not able to remember the part just before the ending to come to any conclusions as to how I made it to the viewpoint of in my bed, just that I was looking at the room, then I was in the bed. It was night in this and daytime in truth, the views matched when I opened my eyes. The difference from the other two is that I heard voices/chanting/noises just before I opened my eyes to find that I was late for class.

--

So I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the sucking in breath thing upon becoming aware (or waking after no dreams, which I'd call the same thing) and what it's from. Also, I am wanting to know if anyone has heard of the night/day differences in views from dreams. Thanks.

Hello, I was just wondering if you guys had any sites that would have information about or techniques to use remote sight or if you would have any information on how to train it. Thanks.

I figure that I might as well write this down for the first time and see if anyone else has had an experience similar to this.

This happened is streaks at one point, and it was very strong and reliable for one span of a week or so. At one time, I realized I could tell if I was going to see someone I knew while I was walking down the street, they'd usually be in a car, and drive past. Once or twice I met them on the street as well. But anyhow, I'd get this feeling, can't explain it, but all of a sudden I'd  get the idea in my head that someone I knew was around.

It was funny, because I didn't realize it at first and then I kind of adapted it into the way of think when I don't think in the conventenial ways of thinking. Yeah, difficult to put properly, that's for sure.

The feeling was almost always followed by seeing someone I knew. It's always been unusual to see a person I knew as I walked down the street. I didn't know too many people. If I had to guess at the percentage rate of this it'd be in the 80 to 90% range. The feeling would strike out of the blue, because, as I said, I didn't pay much real attention to it. After I had it, and the person would go past, I'd think it was neat and would forget about it until it happened again.

Well, there's that vague one where can tell that I'm going to run into a person that I know, and then there's the one that would occour when I was near one specific person. More of a solid, physical feeling I'd get. This also had about the same success rate, but I'd know who I'd run into then.

In both of these, there was no way of knowing people were close, wouldn't have picked up the sounds of the engines in all the traffic, and wouldn't have heard the voices of the people if I would meet them on the street.

Hmm. Well it seems like I'm becoming a rambler. I'll leave it at that. If you have experienced this or you know what it'd be called or what it is, please reply.

Thanks,

When I got into bed, I had decided to try relaxation, focusing on the spot above and between the eyes, and feeling a beat that goes through the body. I had just read a four page thing on astral projection. Yes, I tried it all the different things I could think of at the same time, decided I might as well see what it was about. On the verge of falling asleep, I snapped back, as I sometimes do, but had a very strong humming in my ears and was accompanied by fast vibrations were strongest in my chest. I was able to strengthen and replicate the first one that came on, doing about 15 or 20 of them with each of the humming/vibrations being a bit stronger and was able to hold on to them longer.

This was different from SP and the auditory hallucinations, because I was able to control and replicate it and I never had any vibrations accompany auditory hallucinations. The noise that I was hearing was also different from the negative effect of the sound cutting out as I drift off to sleep. I was never able to control that either, just notice it and attempt to make my body ignore it so it would continue falling asleep.

For a few seconds, it seemed like an after-image of my room appeared behind my closed lids, but I am not sure if it was because of my desire to see out of the third eye again and having my mind create the visualization for me, or if it was from getting a weak signal through the third eye. The room was dark, but what I was seeing was instantly recognizable, almost outline-ish if you will.

I'm looking forward to any comments you may have,
c

(That was neat so I think I'm going to try it again.)

I had an incident a few years back while I was talking around town with two other people. As we were waiting for the crosswalk signal to change, I got a view with a perspective that was behind us by a couple of blocks, on the sidewalk that we had just walked on. The height I was looking from was a bit taller than I was, I believe, and it was moving towards us. It was rather odd, as I seem to remember the view being wider than it should have been, but I can't be sure that that part wasn't a false memory. It lasted for a few seconds, but less than 5 more than likely.

Can anyone give me some information about what they suspect this to be? I'm curious to find out/

Another thing also happened a few weeks back, where I had seen my (very bright) television turned on in my dark room. My eyes were closed, and when I opened them I realized that it wasn't night because it was still light outside. It think that I had hit an episode of SP while I napped then, but I can't remember because the thing threw me for a loop and I didn't remember it for sure.

Not being sure of this possible episode of SP is odd in itself because I remember when I have SP, there's not the idea that I -may- have had it, it has happened for sure. This confusion could have come around if I had been dragged back into sleep instead of deciding to let myself be dragged back to sleep.

Anyways, there ends my ramblings, let me know what you make of them.

Thanks,
c

Hullo, I am a 20 year old guy who is curious about most of the topic that these forums cover. I have sleep paralysis, dream lucidly out of those on occasion, and have possibly opened the 'third eye' quite accidently once. I have also had hallucinations while in SP, both auditory and visual.

One time had a possible OBE or something (not even sure what it'd be called); it seemed as though I was seeing from another entities perspective that was behind me, looking towards me. I was fully awake, standing, and waiting for the crosswalk signal to change. This was, needless to say, very odd. It's never re-occured. If anyone could give me some insight on this, it would be nice.

I am naturally a skeptic, I try to figure out alternatives and possiblilites to what has been said to have happend. I don't like taking things at face value either. Just the way I am.

Nice to actually write one of these, couldn't see the introductory forums before.
