I think your dedication and discipline are commendable.  Good job!

My only advice though would be that perhaps you are trying too hard.  Perhaps you had this experience because you have been developing the discipline, which is good, but also you are too rigorously trying to follow your scripts, which can interfere with the relaxation necessary to OBE.

I know it is a contradiction, but exercise your discipline to relax.  Let go the physical body.  Hold your intent in the back of your mind as your breathe eases you deeper and deeper into relaxation with every exhale.  The mild falling sensations of each exhale should build up in the end, culminating with your OBE.

You are very close - good luck!

Reading through a lot of the recent posts, especially posts that deal with *when* you should start trying to exit, something that always gets mentioned is having waking paralysis.  The question is that RB states quite clearly (p87)
"Most paralysis edisodes, in my opinion, happen *after* the projection exit has occurred.  Full waking paralysis cannot occur before the projection exit." (RB-AD)

and p90
"I have experienced waking-paralysis episodes literally hundreds of times, but have never managed to convert one into an OBE." (RB-AD)

This is the only book I own (so far), so I'm unable to cross reference for other experts opinions on this.  Nor have I had any AP/OBE myself so I can't work off of experience.  Is sleep paralysis something to be worked towards or avoided?  Or is the effect secondary to the mental (astral/etheric) disassociation (if that is the case, how would anyone notice paralysis, as it's directly counter to disassociation)?  Or is it a personal thing, and for RB it simply doesn't work, but for others it could?

Thanks

You can project from the paralysis state, but i belive there are some conditions to projecting from it. if your having a full-blown sleep paralysis episode you are literally awake but cant move because the brain hasnt turned on the motor synapses yet. But you can also be having a more lucid sleep paralysis episode  which you can project from. with the lucid sleep paralysis episode you are not completely awake but still awake enough to try to move in which you may find you cant and then upon further attempts to move you may stimulate tha rtz body enough to project or choose to do some other method.

i believe albert taylor who wrote soul traveler mentions his ability to project from the paralysis state.

I wouldn't do it that many times a day. Only when I go to bed or jjust wake up.

Hey Tolvor,
I often experience heart sensations, one way or another.  What I mean by this, is sometimes it's the heart chakra, which can make you believe your real heart is beating erratic or and impossible rate.  But this is "normal" despite how abnormal it really feels.

However, I also feel an altered physical heart beat.  Usually, a more steady stronger thud like you described.  I am not sure why so many people run in to this.  Robert Bruce often says it's just the Heart Chakra, but I tend to disagree.. I have personally verified a very real accelerated, stronger heart beat after intense sessions.  I believe this is the result of anxiety and adrenaline being released in to the system.  I also believe this is why Astral Projection can be severely dangerous to somebody with a heart condition.  For somebody with a healthy heart, these elevated heart levels shouldn't do harm, though i'm not a medical doctor.. accelerated heart beats can actually be healthy (occasionally) for healthy folks.  That's why exercise is important!  Keeps the heart muscle strong!

I personally ignore it.  It's actually not that simple.. lol; I am working on ignoring it.  It can be quite distracting at times.  But I have talked with a lot of people who have experienced this and I wouldn't be too concerned unless you have a heart condition.

I hope this helps!

i'm going to make a guess and say that your problem is that you sleep too well

if you can wake up and not remember a thing... wow... what i would give for that to happen once and a while...

me, I wake up after every dream, I wake up during the middle of dreams, wake wake wake wake wake wake wake...

basically, I don't think I ever hit deep sleep, I mean... the last time I rememebr laying down to bed and instantaneously waking up in the morning, no dreams, nothing, just REST and PEACE and waking up feeling whole and energized... was 2 years ago... and that was a once in a lifetime type event, I was like "whoah!"

so...

develop a sleeping disorder?

I wake up so much it isn't funny, and I'll often times dream about waking up so much that I'll often times get ticked that I'm not dreaming anymore, only to actually still be in a dream and not realize it (yes I do reality checks with my clock, but it's tiring to do them over and over again)

So it's like... well... I don't know what to say, a nova dreamer would work... I basically don't need one because once REM sleep tends to end I wake up, so it's usually pretty easy to phase back into a dream or OBE shortly after waking...

Unless I wake up at 3-4 a.m. like I have been and can't get back to sleep for 2 solid hours of lying in bed trying.

I guess it's possible I go into deep sleep though and just dream during deep sleep? Becuase you'd think I'd hit some sort of NREM rebound frequently and just black out and not dream once or twice a week.....

Just try and set your alarm to wake you up 3 times a night at times you are positive you'll be sleeping.

Say if you sleep from midnight to 6 undisturbed.... set it for 2 and set it for 4.

?

That'd be my advise, aside from obtaining reversed insomnia (can't remember the proper name for it).

I made a similar post recently.  For some reason, about a month ago I started getting vibrations while wide awake.  They don't feel intense, but are certainly there.  I can feel them in my legs right now.  If I'm laying on the sofa watching TV at night and I'm fairly tired, they become more pronounced.  Sometimes they move to the center of my chest and more rarely to my head.  I actually think they feel kind of nice though.  And I don't mind them at all because its been very easy to get intense vibrations when I go into trance ever since they started.  In my opinion, if you can't ignore the vibrations while in meditation, you won't get to the point of separation anyways.  A key factor is that you have to ignore them and remain relaxed.  Keep trying to be passive about them.  Enjoy them and just let them happen.

Seeing as how you make a Simpsons reference I'm obligated to respond [:)].
Well, the good news and short answer to your question is a resounding "NO!"... bad 'karma' will not interfere with your AP/OBE experiments. But, thinking that it will make a negative influence will cause it to do so. Basically, all you have to do is 'forgive yourself' for the things you thought were 'bad'. A good start (and without putting too much religious idealism into it) is to realize we all do dumb things sometimes, no one is perfect, and I can almost guarantee you that there are people OBEing out there who have done worse than you. Just don't sweat it and you'll do fine.

Neet website, thanks. It looks kind of too complex for me but maybe I will give it a shot. I have had some interest in that nova dreamer but it is just way too expensive. Electronicly it isn't even all that complex so why do they price it so high?

Tolvor-

I have had a few similar experiences since I experience sleeping paralysis and so does my brother and sister, although I am the only one who has ever done any energy work or anything "weird."

In my case, I just left my physical body for a while and suddenly got pulled back to my physical body so it can wake up (usaully because I'm hungry.  It's irritating because I can't sleep until I eat a little, happens every night.)

Sometimes I remember what happened, sometimes I don't.

The only times I experience paralysis is if I do energy work right before sleeping and leave my body unconsciously.

One time I woke up inside my mattress, looking at my box spring.  When I realized where I was, I snapped back into my paralyzed body and some general feeling of "fear" drove me out of my trance.

I think the fear is just the body's reaction to feeling "pinned down" against the bed, the way paralysis feels.  It's very heavy and immobilizing.

By the way, the only successful OOBE attempts I've had were involuntary, so if you figure things out a little better, let me know.

i've only obed once.. and it was tot he RTZ. after i shot back into my body i felt well rested, but as far as vibrations go, none.

how do you know when your body is asleep if you dont move? and does your body still have muscle spams when its asleep and you can feel that? and how do you get rid of those anyway? they are most annoying.

and how can i get swirley tie-die ect ect "patterns" when i havn't even reached f10? its like i cant feel my body, but i could move if i wanted.

Hi Tolvor,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse! [:)] Thanks also for your input. There is a lot of ground to cover in maintaining a quality forum. Our administrator works very hard at this, as do the moderators. It is not an easy task with a forum this large. We try to cover the different forums as thoroughly as possible, but also ask that members private message us if there is something of concern.

Looking forward to your participation in the forum.

All the best,

I can talk to my guide every night and get close to OBE or actually have an OBE but not remember it. I can do this every night aslong as I do not fall asleep.

Most people take everything they feel on their path and not worry about it. I mean it can be something bad, but if you just feel "through" the sensation and not try to overanalyze, it usually will go away. I think you are just worried about a little pain, and most people on here that are successful say that doing this is easy as pie, but they fail to point out a lot of the minute details in the forums.

Slow your progress down and take a few days to research your problems better. If you are patient, you will succeed.
