Hi Don,

I personally feel no need whatsoever to protect myself before an OBE, despite hearing tons and tons of people saying you must do it, I simply do not take that to me - I guess I listen more to my instincts or "inner voice".
But if you truly think it is very important to shield yourself then it is wise to do so I think.
If not, you would probably not feel as safe, and we all know fear is our greatest obstacle for growth and whatever acchievements we want to acchieve. Since I feel - for me - there is no need to protect myself in the sence of doing some ritual or say a prayer, I can´t answer you what other means of protection people engage in, it has never interrested me.
But if it makes you feel safer doing it, then I suggest you practice some form of "protection" !!
Search the web and you´ll certainly find some ideas, as well from the people who´ll answer you here soon.....   right guys?? ;)

Hey Don,

I noticed this exact same tightening thing, and it really messed with my head, because I thought I was doing something wrong, getting to tense, etc. A gentle flexing of the stomach is apparently an indicator that energy is being raised. Your chakras and other energy systems are connected to your physical body, and when they're stimulated they can cause involuntary muscle movement. I'm digging through "treatise on obe" and "new energy ways," but I can't seem to find this info. Does someone know where it is? I just relax and periodically re-relax, and ignore any twitching in between.

Best of luck! Post again if that doesn't make sense. Anyone else get this sensation? Does it go away? I think it's starting to disappear for me. It definitely used to be stronger.

I'm pretty sure it can be done either way, but I think its probably easier with your eyes closed. I use the same method, I've never actually tried it with my eyes open.
