I suppose for certain cultures the proof is validated in there beliefs and personal experiences.  Tibetan, Buddhist Monks, Indian Swamis have believed and validated there beliefs for thousands of years with personal accounts of AP/OBE.  It's not as if we start from scratch.  I just seem to know this is real and God is real.  If more valid proof is required we could always go to Tibet and meditate 18 hours a day to achieve a higher level of projection or Calcutta to wear a loincloth, get buried in the dirt and fast for 28 days straight.

stop doing it and check your pulse, the heart chakra feels much different than the actual heart beat...

sometimes when i try to enter a trance my heartbeat gets high and kind of hurts...

and i check my pulse so I know it's real too...

I don't know what to say except that REM is stressful on the body and elevated heart rate is to be expected, so...  it could be normal. Do what you think you should do, if you feel like continuing and you aren't too worried if you happen to die (i really highly doubt this unless you have heart problems) then go on, if you are worried, then stop and try to confirm whether you were really feeling your heart.

My first few projections my throat was pulsating and I thought I was choking to death and once I thought I had a nosebleed that I was about to inhale and choke on... so hallucinations are normal, but you should be able to tell after doing it a few times whether it is real or not.

As for the REM thing some people will say you don't project in REM, and I disagree, it's the only way I can project, and REM itself denotes physical paralysis which is necessary (for me) to leave in the first place.

Don't know if that will help you Mikeman, but here it is.

I have had a dream repeatedly from about the age of three or four.  It is very similar to your dream but not exactly.  But exactly the same experience each time I dreamt it.

The location/setting was where ever I was living at the time, basically my bed room.  The walls and ceiling were there, but as I became aware of them they moved so far away that I could hardly see them.  I felt like I was so small that I was insignificant.  I never thought to call it a balloon, but there was some unknown thing that my attention is brought to.  As I focus on it, it grows in size and magnitude to un-comprehend-able size.  The feeling is that I am so small and insignificant that I fear I will be lost in the nothingness and I wake.  When I was a child up through late teens, I thought the dream was a nightmare and would scare the heck out of me.

Over the years as I have learned more I think the dream is two fold.  The first part with size distortions is having an OBE without knowing what it is.  The second I feel is a representation of us as a part of God.  Such a small part that we are overwhelmed with the magnitude of the situation.  But I remember feeling warm in this time.  Perhaps that is a representation of Gods love for us.

This is my interpretation based on what I have learned in my life.  I welcome others comments.

Hi mikeman,

Welcome to the Astral Pulse forums! [:)] Thanks for sharing your experiences as well. The best I can do is to suggest reading Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce. Another good book is The Projection of the Astral Body by Sylvan Muldoon & Hereward Carrington. Both of those books contain many experiences of the authors that might interest and assist you.

Also, there are some "sticky" topics on obe/ap here at the forum that contain some experiences you may be able to relate to, as well as many of the previous posts. Take a look at our File Library and Search buttons at the top of the page as well.

Again, welcome and we'll look forward to your posts.

Very best,
